WHAT I DID

I rolled a mage* (probably an archer would work too) and put it on easy mode. This doesn't make it much fun as a game but I get to see the hard work the artists and writers, actors, etc. put into it, and get to the story. Forget melee combat, it's not gonna happen.

Not going to ping to search either, if I can possibly avoid it.

Oh Lord no. I got bored of Skyrim very quickly. Even with the crashes I love this game a lot more.

What? Even skyrims side-quests had scripted events. The side-content in da:I consists of grinding repeatable quests lol.

Not to mention mod support. Just. WHAT? Whatever floats your boat I guess.

It's a great game and shows Bioware are returning to form but here are the non M+KB Issues on the PC I've noticed

Gamepad Controls

1. Unused D-Pad buttons (would be useful for things like quickheal for example)

UI

1. Inventory real-estate:

-Huge font size meaning a lot of time needlessly scrolling through lots of items. (understandable on consoles since you're generally sat further away but not on PC)

Character Creator

1. The lack of a Black Emporium/Mirror of transformation.

2. The omission of DA2 hairstyles and tattoos

Tac Cam

1. Resets to character after swapping to a different character

2. Doesn't zoom out far enough (understandable in interiors since the assets probably weren't built like DAO and older Bioware games were but not in the great outdoors)

3. No place to stash any loot you want to keep but don't want with you (at least so far - no storage in Skyhold that I've found)

AI:

1. Party members getting stuck in caves

2. Party members continually jostling about

Looting

1. Small radius leads to jumping instead of looting. Very annoying in such a long game

2. Landmarks and things like ladders sharing the same ping sound as loot - another annoyance

GFX/Performance

1. Crossfire smoke fx pure white

2. Crossfire terrain flicker

3. Mantle random framedrops/hitching during gameplay

Other (preference):

1. Skyhold Grandma clothes... (nuff said)

2. No individualised 'Hide Helmet' option (I'd rather Cole kept his hat on - not a Tom Jones reference)

You're line of thinking is exactly what I've just gone through in my head.

Can't be bothered waiting anymore so going to start the alternate play through I was originally going to do.

Female, Elf, Mage - Here I come!

Hi there,

I would just like to have some feedback on what you guys think of the Inventory UI for the PC.

I can deal with the controls, I've got used to not using the tac-cam and all that - just wish we could bind mouse button 3-4-5 but oh well, but what is irritating me the most during my gaming session is the inventory UI on PC.

To be more specific, the tool-tip that appears when you mouse-over an item that doesn't refresh when you scroll to an other item. For the tool-tip to refresh, you have to move the mouse back and over the newly selected item, otherwise it's the same tool-tip of the old item selected. It makes changing equipment really annoying and unpleasant.

I know the inventory UI cannot be redone, that's understandable, but would it be possible to fix this at least?

Otherwise I enjoy the game for what it is right now, I hope a patch will make it even better!

Thanks for reading.

I keep about 3 saves and I overwrite the one that was saved longest ago.

Why not just overwrite instead of keeping every single save slot open?

Overwriting usually leads to corrupted saves, which is why I'm not a huge fan of autosaves. They typically overwrite with the same name.

Your saves mix, are you sure? Mine had a button to switch characters...

Yes, you can switch characters and delete them from within the game, but you can't do it from the Saves directory in your Documents folder.

OK, so 103 pages... I hope everyone who needed to get their posts out explaining how everyone else's point of view needs to include their own are finished... honestly, I don't blame anyone for this reaction, as this situation sucks for all of us (at least for those who are legit here because they can't play or are having issues playing the pc version)

Here's what has happened that I think everybody needs to be aware of:

Allan came on late last night and got into the issues at hand, he explained that he is a part of the group actively looking ay issues for patching, he explained that he was part of the QA team that tested the pc ui before release AND that as a tester for all 5 platforms, a controller was what he was used to (and that's fine people - in and of itself). He also conceded that many people are clearly not happy with the released version - which to me is an indication that they will be making some changes.

He detailed that the process is ongoing, that the gamebreaking bugs, CTD's and the serious issues obviously are taking precedence, and that alot of the issues brought up (I linked him some of the big list threads in the Feedback page), as well as many others are being looked at. He did NOT promise anything specific, other than saying multiple patches are in the works. That is progress.

Now, clearly we all knew that a game this size would need to be patched. We knew there would be issues. I hope first patch is released as soon as possible, I would really like to start playing this game! But let's put away the soap boxes for a bit and see what Bioware has in store for us, at least for the next 1-2 days.

I have to get this turkey out the oven now. I'm sure many of you are doing the same. Happy Thanksgiving, people!

I rly hope we gonna hear better news tomrrow from Allan/ BW i just want to play the game already
Thanks for the info

And by the same token, those people like the earlier poster who feel so aggrieved don't feel that Bioware has been too respectful to them.  Does that mean every single coder and designer doesn't care and "It's just a job"?  No.  But Bioware the company is the front, and if they deliver a poor product they take the brunt.

Do I support that poster's use of language?  Not particularly, but I support their reason and sentiment.

I just believe that courtesy and kindness are important.

Being disappointed is understandable, being rude is not.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but a lot of folks are discovering that there is a limit of 250 save slots....for PC!

Personally, I can live with this, but it is yet again an indication of how half-heartedly this game got ported to PC...

Wow Bioware, just....WOW!

After years of intense work on this masterpiece, it is tarnished so quickly through negligence.

I hit this yesterday and was going to post, but I guess I might as well do it here.

Given the volume of crashes, I've been saving far more than I'd like to. I got the 250 limit error message and just laughed to myself. Bioware friends, I understand you're serving an audience of potentially millions of users and need to have a sensible cloud storage policy... but that shouldn't limit me on local storage. Yes, I know that makes the cloud scheme more complicated (i.e., "which 250 saves and how do we give the user control without additional complexity") but the current approach needs a refactor.

To Dubya75, you likely already figured it out, but all your saves are in Users -> YourUserName -> My Documents -> Bioware -> DAI -> Saves (or very close, not on my gaming rig ATM). You can copy them all somewhere else then delete all but key saves/last few saves. The game will then let you save another 250 before you have to do the above again.

The filenames are all hex based so there's unfortunately no easy way to know the specific save contents from the file system without keeping a separate log that a save on date MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS is your "before I chose my specialization save", etc. But at least the time/date stamp can be used.

Good hunting! :)

I really don't see anything wrong with Allen posted, he was just being honest and I think he deserves a bit more credit for that. At the very least there is some communication which is a rarity in the gaming world these days even if it isn't "official".

As for the waiting 1-2 days, that's pretty optimistic I think. We're probably looking at weeks before the patch notes come out and possibly even a month(s) before the actual patch itself is released. You know what though, even if they listen and respond to some of the complaints I will be satisfied. Again, I think it's unrealistic to expect every item of the m&kb control issues to be fixed to satisfy everyone, it obvious the game wasn't designed for point and click interaction and that probably won't change. Even they meet us half way with some compromises such as addressing the TAC cam issues and maybe expanding the loot radius it will help. As for the graphic and performance issues, well those will hopefully be addressed but again realistically speaking that will in and of itself be a slow process considering the multitude of platforms.

Until then I'm enjoying running through the previous two dragon age titles. I haven't played DAO for so long I all most forgot what it was like.

Yea, clearly he was taking it to the next step and advising against anything inappropriate.  I don't think Pen N Paper was even suggesting anything more than a search for information from somebody in the unique position as Mr Muzyka

As Benaska wrote, to get the message out into the word of mouth channels. There is suppression only in so much as there are people not willing to voice their opinion. (Look at that 1 indian circling the Bioware wagons around @RayMuzyka - That's the power of social media, and the loss of same power on a closed forum on the company website.)

Professionally, wearing my day job hat, I consider everyone participating here - even the [quote] haters [unquote] to be providing a courtesy service to the company (assuming the company wants to listen).  This is the behind doors place to air the laundry. But laundry will air just as well outside too.

There is only so much I can do to pull responses by talking about BoD firings and share valuations. (Dropped 3/4 a full 1% value from a high of $44.40 to close out for the holiday at $43.68)

http://www.google.co...GA&ved=0CBUQ2AE

I believe the official statement regarding this feedback was kicked of by the suggestion to ask whether a statement was intended to be sarcastic. While not a particularly well voiced feedback, it's miles from crossing any lines of normal communication, giving room to the speculation that the entire "leave the people behind the game alone"-debate was started to prevent feedback from leaking into channels difficulty to control.

Jesus, why in the nine hells would you need more than few saves? 250 Seems like an unreal number in the first place.

I can't imagine you would actively use that many. IF you really are into archiving every second of the game, you might as well zip the files and burn them to... I don't know, 250 CDs? And leave the 1 or 2 you are actually using.

I keep about 3 saves and I overwrite the one that was saved longest ago.

Why not just overwrite instead of keeping every single save slot open?

It takes more time/clicks to select a save to replace than to just save a new file. When you're saving frequently because you fear you're going to crash at any time and don't want to repeat content until your replay, saving often and quickly is a necessity. And when you're crashing frequently you understand file corruption is a possibility. (One might reasonably assume they are closing handles to files after a load, but then, one might also assume they tested the game on 7xx and 9xx series Nvidia cards prerelease and would fix known crashers pre launch...)

Just an alternative perspective FWIW.

Anyone else getting sound issues

Music blocks out dialogue
Sometime conversations wheel gets greyed out but choices listed

- Dialog. I have encountered the "party member talking but no audio playing" issue repeatedly on my playthrough. 100% fix for me has been going to Options->Audio, changing anything (even if you change it back), Back, Yes (to accept changes). Dialog immediately returns (including whatever was playing but that you couldn't hear). Hope that works for you.

- Yes, having this issue too and have seen others report it. 50-50% chance for me has been pressing "A" (I'm using Xbox360 controller on PC). Half the time it puts the dialog options in its proper state/mode, the rest of the time I have to run away from the NPC until the greyed out dialog disappears (and then return and initiate dialog again with the NPC). :|

Being disappointed is understandable, being rude is not.

If you expect people to take you serious, you give polite feedback and hope you find common ground.

If you expect people to look for the best way to marginalize your feedback, you choose strong language to make sure your feedback can't be warped into "well, people could be happier, but they'll adapt".

A 100 something thread about issues without any productive official statements in it does not really support the impression of being taken serious.

The game says I've played it for 39 hours.

And that is mostly through attrition.

It won't stop crashing at random intervals no matter what I do.

Just another reminder to never buy any videogame at launch.

Agree.  Dual Wield Rogue is my favorite type of character in an RPG.  Couldn't stick with it.  Controls and camera make it a nightmare to stay in melee range at all times, let alone in flanking position.  I restarted a 2H Warrior and a Mage...probably will go with the War for now, seems less dependent on the controls and camera as I just wade in and button mash.  Combat is very guild wars vs bots feeling (ie. not good).

Yeah, you're totally right. So, my rogue must wait.

Anyway, there's no way this was designed with KB+M in mind. Now that I'm trying a mage, it feels more natural with the controller...

I agree. Even in the Elder Scrolls series Skyrim<Oblivion<Morrowind. To be honest, I even felt the mods for Oblivion were better than Skyrim's since there are more quest and guild related content and better immersion mods (with regards to cities, forts etc). Shadow of Mordor has no place in the Lord of the Rings lore and its a game that actively slaps you for ignoring the main quest and using the nemesis system. All those points you racked up? You can't use them untill you've unlocked the ability in the main quest. Lets also play the boring counter combat game. Yay

I just wanted to say that EA Bioware should really take a page from Ubisoft on how to handle a PR disaster like the one you caused by releasing a game on PC in such an awful state.

Reading Allan's post, seems to me to be a passive agressive way of refusing to acknowledge the lies they told to PC gamers and a complete refusal of admitting that they have disappointed their PC base. I feel betrayed by the marketing plot that this game was made for and by pc gamers. This game had very few thought in regards of pc gamers.

It is completely acceptable that the devs and QA testers have had no specific problem with the UI and PC controls during testing but ,as already, mentionned in the past posts, there was in the beginning a given bias to controllers.

There isn't any post from any Bioware employee  in which I feel that they are ashamed for letting down the PC community. To be fair, not everyone experiences the same level of frustration and it's near impossible to satisfy diverging needs and expectations but I feel that the first step would be to acknowledge how this game falls short of what was expected from Bioware.

Ubisoft with Assassin's Creed Unity have ,in the span of a few hours after the release, created a specific live update blog that keeps the customers updated, they have also given a free DLC and 3 patches and a very public apology from their CEO.

EA Bioware chose the complete blackout route and Allan, seems to refuse to acknowledge the lower than expected quality of this game. We are kept in the dark with very few posts from EA employees, no live update forum other than this minimal pathetic one. A public apology would be the strict minimum if they still respected and value their customers.

I've loved every single game from this franchise but this one really shows blatant disrespect to us PC gamers.
