My point was that there's no way Bioware can possibly test all combinations of hardware.  So the people who are astonished that Bioware would release a game in such a state possibly shouldn't be, and maybe could tone down the hate.

Then in an attempt to help, I took the time to copy down and post the settings that are working for me.  Maybe they would work for someone else?

I guess no good deed goes unpunished huh?

After reading your post, I've gone from being in the mood to help to "giving two shits" whether the game ever works for you.  If there's such a thing as karma, it never will.

I agree that some post are over the top or people being just frustrated and that they have all right too be right now, still one should try to be civil at least.

I'll maintain the fact that a closed and a open beta for the game, would have improved it alot and fixed alot of the problems they have now, and they would have, at the same time got alot of information off a lot of different hardware configurations which they could have used to optimise the game even more.

Then there is the fact that some PS4 users and Xbox one users have the same flickering graphics so it's not entirely a pc problem either and that means it's not entirely just a hardware problem that makes this, since all ps4s have the same hardware as does all the xbox ones.

Not to defend them, exactly, (and this has ZERO to do with the design discussion, just the bugs/glitches/etc.) but identifying a problem and identifying the CAUSE of a problem are often two different things. Sometimes it's easy. Sometimes it's harder to track down, especially when it's not affecting every single player. I've heard devs on other games state that in trying to fix one bug, it broke something else. It's not always simple.

It's difficult to have patience, however, when you've paid good money for something and just want to play the game already. It's also frustrating when there's so little communication. The Sims team finally learned that lesson. The launch of Sims 4 was not easy, the player base was angry and fed up, they've earned a lot of good will for not just themselves but the game by doing one very simple thing. Communicating

By that same token, however, they won't give people an estimate for a patch release. Doing so will spell disaster every time unless they are early with their estimate. An estimate is NOT a promise but, without fail, people will pull out the pitchforks if they are so much as one minute past the estimated delivery time. What WOULD be good to hear is what they are attempting to address. Not vague concepts but specifics. I won't hold my breath for that, however.

What WOULD be good to hear is what they are attempting to address. Not vague concepts but specifics.

That would be the fundamentals of communicating. It may surprise some folks here, but not every player has a background in coding or is even comfortable running mods (modification to computer programmed stuff). Some people might go by the old warning that to tinker with the product invalidates the warranty. For example: If I gave you a brief recap of my day - brief enough not to purposefully put you to sleep like a software license agreement - you still would not know what I did/do. Even if I wrote it out reeeeally slow.

BUT you would know 1) I was doing something; 2) I had some practical targets; and 3) you would have a better appreciation for what I was attempting to do today. I would be communicating that.

I wrote it before but I will writing it again:

3x daily updates - worth about 5 minutes of writing each, and spelling mistakes are permitted - is what is called for here. That is roughly an 8-hour cycle on a 24-hour channel like this here informing us what is being worked on (e.g. this thing no one mentioned but which is focal to the problems with the tactical camera problems that we will get to next). PLUS bulletins (e.g. solved the tactical camera but made a mess of the XYZ so this is up next, ready for the next patch. Stay tuned for it when it is ready). And, eventually when it is ready: The Patch.

The actual patch is, if you really want to think about it, the anti-thesis of communications process. It is after communication occurs.

Broken 100h played now and some reflections:

*Melee combat is very clunky. It works but you have to have the reactions of a god to avoid alot of deaths

.

*So far havent seen much "evil" choises. True havent really been the case in any DA game but kinda want some Renegade shep things :D first char was a nice one tho

*Gfx problems deluxe, poor framerate in conversation mode and random crashes. When its working tho... AMAZING!

*Storywise feels kinda dull, familiar evil guy and it pretty much plays out how i guessed it would.

Noticed today that game ran alot smoother, getting better fps in conversations and crashes has been rare.. Dunno what happend? Patch?

Please keep us in touch dear BioWare. You should know, that this "PC Game made for PC Players!" trow big baldy Shadows for your other great Game. Yes, how you handle here the PC fans is the future Seed for Mass Effect 4. If you keep us selling for "you do not know how to play it right!" then trusted Fans will "Yeah, let us teach BioWare a lesson!" turn their nose in that direction. Well, i will do it. Honestly, until know i hold ME in my deepest happiest corner of my Heart. But now i will not Preorder ME4. No with that Lies coming out of your PR Pro mouths, the Cake is a Lie.

We all know, your Big Boss prefer Consoles, under all costs. Even to hunt away the old trustful PC bakers until now.

Baldurs gate? In what System it was a Big Success? Consoles?

And your way to eat a bit of the Skyrim Cake. You should now, that Skyrim is a success because he MODDING Scene. Yes even if the most Mods are rated for Mature (Come on, you know what i am talking about!). They buy Skyrim for the MODS, and here you go and prevent DA3 from MOD Support. You want to feed us with DLC? No Sir!, not with me

So, pretty please. When we can except an PC Control Patch? I still do not touched my Game, just to wait for the Patch and Start a new

*Note: This Text is written in a moderate tone, i am not that Upset as it sounds.

Reading Allan's post, seems to me to be a passive agressive way of refusing to acknowledge the lies they told to PC gamers and a complete refusal of admitting that they have disappointed their PC base.

I am 30 pages (still!) away from your post here but I would like to offer my voice in dispute.

I think Allan is lacking the authority to be (effectively) the voice of Bioware Division. (EA has nothing to do with this SBU's SNAFU response until the firings I expect to occur from this do occur in Bioware). He comes off as sincere. He has some good instincts. He initially started off in reaction to some (implied or specific) directive about containing the ire onto this topic/these forums.

He would need some training but I would hire him to handle community management based upon his aptitude to roll up his shirt sleeves, put away his pocket protector, and "get with the people." I have been in corporate (and marketing) public relations since forums were called "virtual forums" and ran via Carrier Pigeon.

Yes! Same exact problem for me. I've resorted to just using mages and archers for now, which is disappointing since I love warriors and dual wield rogues

I am also in the same boat. Melee class control is too random and messy to be tolerable for more than a few minutes, and I have to stick with ranged characters. Too bad because the dual-wielding rogue has been my favorite class in the previous DAs.

I really didn't want to target Allan specifically. I also admire his honesty and his courage to even post in this forum as an employee. You do, however point to the issue at hand with the PR strategy that Bioware is using. By refusing to publicly admit their faults through different possible channels such as forums, twitter, email, I feel that Allan becomes the only viable target to our anger.

If, they could possibly be more honest by appointing a PR and not rely on private post from an Employee that does not have the authority to represent  the company as a whole. They should also publicly issue a statement in the same vein as Ubisoft from none other than the CEO himself. By doing so they would give me some proof that they still value me as a customer and they have enough humility to admit their faults.

Have you tried any of the fixes that multiple people have suggested in various threads? Turning off Ambient Occlusion? Playing in borderless Windowed mode?

ofcourse. the problem is twofold: the game gives bad commands to my GPU's. which is running on o driver hotfix. One patch, and one driver update and it is gone.

Some cutsceness work at the first go, some not. Just finished the prologue. The final cutscene crashed the first time, not the second time. It runs, looks good. Sometimes I see artefacs, or flickering.

Odd thing is that the cards work harder with Divinty original Sin. I am happy, this action game looks good.

On a side note, Witcher 3 is postphoned to the end of Februari. If they would have released in the same week, I wonder how long this tread would have been....

Ok, so there are issues. Issues that many people on this thread have decided to tell the dev team, either with kindness or rudeness. But one thing is certain, being left in the dark on patch notes is in most respects not right in today's times.

I for one am glad that these issues are being thoroughly read into and checked in the Frostbite 3 engine. But i have a question, if Battlefield 4 uses the same engine and had some of the same issues at launch, but then did there best to fix the games issues a year later and informing and allowing people to see what was being fixed before it got finalized. What does that say about Bioware?

Does it say "our engine is too complex so we cant give any details on the fix because it was lucky we even managed to get stuff in this blody engine working" (cough) them talking about in the PC trailer that the engine wouldn't support horses or four legged creatures as a prime example.

Or does it say "we honestly cant figure out whats wrong in some areas"

Either case, the PC and Console community should be informed of developing fixes for a game, even if such fixes dont make it into the final version (cough again) misleading PC players with unusable tactical camera mode and the obvious Console inventory and gameplay format - insert A button in 2013 demo -

EXACTLY.

And what you politely avoided relating about the STFU policy is that it also suggests "public be damned."

I am really encouraged to read these criticisms about my industry (PR) in terms of Bioware Division's implementation because it means that some of my more "loose" colleagues (flaks, hacks, spin doctors, and whatnot) may one day be held accountable the same as other "professionals" operating within the public benefit - rather than just being accepted as necessary scumbags in business. The criticism raises expectations & means there is a place for me and others like me in your hearts. Sorry to get all personal. .

I just wanted to say that EA Bioware should really take a page from Ubisoft on how to handle a PR disaster like the one you caused by releasing a game on PC in such an awful state.

No. Please, do not take any page from Ubisoft whatsoever. Ubisoft knowingly released a broken game and made sure review outlets weren't able to warn their readers in time about the problems they might encounter: the review embargo was set to 12 hours after the game released.

DA:I's review embargo ended one week before launch, you could read about UI and control problems in some of these reviews and cancel your preorder and while some people have problems getting the game to run it is nowhere near as bad as the state AssCreed shipped in.

So, please: it's fair to criticize Bioware for their design decisions and/or communication with the fanbase but don't make Ubisoft out to be some shining example who a company should handle things. What Ubisoft did was so much worse; they only deserve contempt not praise.

1. Strawman. And a big one at that.

2. I might be not that bright but I always supposed that when you make a PC game, it should also work on PC. Generally PC games are thought for PC and work on PC, isn't it amazing? If not, then you failed at making a PC game for PC.

3. Glad to hear you have a great personal experience on PC with a PC game.

Look at chickencurd's likes and you may see all the people Concerned with defending Bioware to the PC Community.

What are you people doing on the PC Community Concerns topic?

Are you, in fact, Bioware employees (reminiscent of the DA2 stunt to sow review sites with positive reviews)?

So i manage to play for 6 or five hours yesterday. It was nice. Exploring is fun. Controls... i can handle that. Tac cam is useless, i can use simple pause. BUT. Today it all went as it was before. Crashes, freezes, few BSOD's even. This is frustrating

Why does DAI: lags especially on skyhold, haven, and other villages I did past the minimum specs and currently my graphic settings are auto and I did try lowering it to medium but it still kinda lags about 18 fps... totally ruins the immersion for me

and especiall at the beggining when your character wakes up the game lags so hard at the house... maybe because of the fire or something.

But I can run Far Cry 4 in med settings w/ no lag or problems w/ the occasional stutters that has been fix already. yet I did not meet the minimum specs....

*Run the game before the patches and I was able to finish.

Specs:

I5 3210m

Nvidia gtx660m 2gb

8gb ram

This is I'm talking about for the last 30 pages. The performance with recomended spces is not good. Not even at medium settings.

Fooled once (preordered DA2 for PC) - their guilt

Fooled twice (preordered DA:I for PC) - your (my) guilt

Such for granting BW a second chance.... it is obvious the original BW is dead as most important coders left long time ago, here only remains the brand name as a cash cow ^^

Ok, so I've barely started the game, because I really don't want to deal with WASD movement (HOPING for a patch with alternatives), but these are my limited observations:

PC character creation....yeah, I have my complaints about them, but they aren't a priority, and certainly don't belong here

UI controls:

I'd like to be able to use my mouse for as many functions as possible

1)  I really, really want point/click functions.  It just seems a really accurate way of moving, to me.  I know exactly where I'm going to go, I don't have to try to stop my movement by letting go of a key(s) to get there.

2)  It's been mentioned that point/click may not be an option given the game environment, if not, at least have LMB+RMB movement (WITH a walk toggle).

3)  As I recognize that some people are perfectly happy with WASD - give us the option of which movement choice we prefer.

After several days with no sign of solution, they should edit OP to something like

"We've been following these issues closely but we can't do anything about it"
