Everyone addresses my male Elf Inquisitor as if he´s a woman (pronouns and so on).
Anyone else has the same issue? He is beginning to question his virility ![]()
Once again, to add to the numbers of players that are surprised by the design decision to NOT include and auto attack, something that has been a staple of games (and I might add most, if not all of your games in the past), given this, how could you NOT decide to include this feature in your game? As an only option, and not a selectable option, this is something that is to be expected from a freshman design team fresh out of noob academy. NOT BIOWARE, you guys are not newbie game designers. The old maxxim that you should have adhered to was "If it isn''t broke, don't fix it." Baring that, you should have, IF you decided that it was en essential element to core gameplay, given the players the options to turn it on or off, via the options menu. Again, you guys are veterans of making games, and decisions like this should NOT have made it live. Design oversights such as this should not happen to an experienced team like BioWare, you folks are an experienced crew at this, and you SHOULD know better.
Also, what is up with the funky assed looting system? I have been doing games since I was in Jr High in the Mid-80's, and this is more or less a step back, a large step back. Again, a staple of these type of games is you click on the corpse, and your toon runs up and loots it. It is pretty much just that simple. Again, this should be common knowledge among your team of veterans, but yet, in its simplicity it seemed to escape you. Let me reiterate it for you, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The looting system you have now is a pain in the ass. Given that the other two Dragon Age games had it, why depart from it?
The controls are clunky. I want to PLAY your game, because from what I have seen so far, it is really cool. I DO NOT want to spend time learning some new funky assed control scheme that detracts from my enjoyment of the game. Forcing it upon us rather than giving us the option to customize the gaming experience to the way that we want to play is a pretty poor design choice. Not sure what you cats were thinking with this one.
AND just one more time for the road, "If it is not broken, don't fix it."
Glad i did not bought the game yet. I knew they are going to kill nearly every tactical aspect that was done right in DA:O, I was watching gameplay's and discussions and they were clearly suggesting that this will be console action game and i was unfortunately right. PC players gone mad on EA forums. I hope they will fix most issues and rework tactical view this year, couse i would be very pleased to have a chance to play It on christmas time, but we all know Its probably not gonna happen. First Unity, now this, mehhh.
BTW whats wrong with loot system? I could not catch it anywhere someone can explain?.
This game is an unplayable mess. When I first purchased it, I was getting the DirectX crashes every couple of hours. I tried suggested fixes I found by Googling around--namely downloading the Microsoft C+ update and running the game in windowed fullscreen mode. Neither worked. Now, the crashes are getting worse. Instead of crashing to the desktop like it used to, I'll be in mid-cutscene and the screen will freeze up, then just go completely white. I'll have to shut down and turn my computer back on, then reboot the game and try again.
Worst of all? It's now started to do this on every cutscene. I literally can't play more than a few minutes without it crashing. I had to play the end of the "Abyss" quest (the last--incredibly long--fight plus the ensuing cutscene) three times before I could finally get past it without a crash.
What's the deal, BioWare? You pushed this game back a whole month, and you still can't even come up with a product that actually works? Inexcusable.
I feel you man, i rly wanted to buy this game but now i think ill go with fc4 atleasy ubisoft relase patchsGlad i did not bought the game yet. Look at chickencurd's likes and you may see all the people Concerned with defending Bioware to the PC Community.
What are you people doing on the PC Community Concerns topic?
Are you, in fact, Bioware employees (reminiscent of the DA2 stunt to sow review sites with positive reviews)?
you could ask the same about people that complain about the general design decisions
what really fucks me off is not complaining about flaws and bugs and i really can understand that people who cant play till today are pissed, its the hyperbole statements of jerks that instigate each other in hysteria and totally fail to be feedback and just want bioware/ea/consoles to be burned to the ground. anything is ok to get the game down, overstate, twist statements and pure lying, its like a kind of antimarketing and while marketing is at least for money the antimarketing is just about a overblown ego. so its important to state that not everybody shares the opinion to be scammed, the game is unplayable or there was no way to get a picture from the game before its release (different from ubisoft games which tried to trick you in buying a mediocre game with review embargos or false footage) and there are people enjoying the game alot. and to declare these people as potential bioware employees is just the childish try to deny reality. people are different and enjoy different things and manage to get used to new unknown things to a different degree and a game is developed for a community as a whole and not the special enjoyments of individuals
AND just one more time for the road, "If it is not broken, don't fix it."
If it ain't broke, "fix" it 'til it is broke!
I totally agree that Bioware should never have released the game as is.
But, it's too late to change that now. I know a lot of people want an apology, but I have to wonder if there are legal issues with doing so (any lawyers out there want to offer an opinion?).
Trying to get the company to pinpoint when a patch will be ready, isn't going to happen. It can't be done. There are certain things they have likely decided must be included in the first patch (probably big things) and anything they can easily add will likely be included as well. But until the big things (like serious crash causing bugs) are ready to go....I doubt they will issue a patch. Like it or not, it simply takes time.
Admittedly, it would be helpful if they would tell us some things they are working on (ex. Mark Darrah posted on twitter a while ago that they were working on a walk toggle, but were having problems with it). However, this example may be a reason they don't tell us what they're working on...just because they are working on something doesn't mean they will be able to make it work.
What WOULD be good to hear is what they are attempting to address. Not vague concepts but specifics.
That would be the fundamentals of communicating. It may surprise some folks here, but not every player has a background in coding or is even comfortable running mods (modification to computer programmed stuff). Some people might go by the old warning that to tinker with the product invalidates the warranty. For example: If I gave you a brief recap of my day - brief enough not to purposefully put you to sleep like a software license agreement - you still would not know what I did/do. Even if I wrote it out reeeeally slow.
BUT you would know 1) I was doing something; 2) I had some practical targets; and 3) you would have a better appreciation for what I was attempting to do today. I would be communicating that.
I wrote it before but I will writing it again:
3x daily updates - worth about 5 minutes of writing each, and spelling mistakes are permitted - is what is called for here. That is roughly an 8-hour cycle on a 24-hour channel like this here informing us what is being worked on (e.g. this thing no one mentioned but which is focal to the problems with the tactical camera problems that we will get to next). PLUS bulletins (e.g. solved the tactical camera but made a mess of the XYZ so this is up next, ready for the next patch. Stay tuned for it when it is ready). And, eventually when it is ready: The Patch.
The actual patch is, if you really want to think about it, the anti-thesis of communications process. It is after communication occurs.
A little OT but this remind me how Digital Extremes work on patching. Warframe is a f2p co-op mmo. But oh boy!, when they mess up thing the quickly try to fix them, no matter the time or day, they inform you what is wrong, what are they doing, dons't matter that the changelog is a wall of text. They report even the most insignificant thing. It would be really good to see this stand from the people of Bioware.
I'm not really blaming bioware (not entirely), i just think EA took their balls and put them in a purse somewhere.
Still no estimated date on a patch. At least inform us about which week can we have it? Week 49 perhaps?
I think I might have breathed too deep and too long. Need to power through these posts faster. Interesting developments as I read through; reminds me of a Bioware story .
R button making melee characters close in on enemies would be greatly appreciated.
I wanted to play melee but It just became so tiresome to constantly pause, reorient camera, walk forward and hope that your target is in your range when you attack.
Remember when in DA ][ rogue/warriors just charged head on and you didn't really have to break your wrists ?
Regards
There is only so much I can do to pull responses by talking about BoD firings and share valuations. (Dropped 3/4 a full 1% value from a high of $44.40 to close out for the holiday at $43.68)
FIFA (~ 13% of total EA sales last few years) was released last quarter and likely has the biggest impact on EA's share valuations. As far as 3rd quarter goes, yes Dragon Age is probably going to matter more, but they have until late December to get DAI up and running in good condition to really keep values from a serious decline....and even still, for stock prices, DA is less than 10% of company sales....though that shouldn't affect the assessment of the development of DAI as a product and Bioware as a subsidiary. As far as BoD firings....that's probably more of a year end consideration....which for EA is March 31. So, again, there's still time for damage control if they can keep patch costs to an expected level.
I couldn't definitively state how strong the biases are, but it's an interesting thought experiment (and something for us to discuss in our various post-release post-mortems. PC control feedback is something I know I, and a few others, have brought up as topics to be discussed in more detail). I certainly wouldn't discount it.
(In case anyone is curious, a post-mortem is a look back at things that work and things that didn't work, and where are places for improvement going forward and so forth).
I'd be really interested in hearing what the results of your post-mortems are. Assuming you're planning on a DA4, it might give us some idea of what you would/plan to do different in the future based on your experiences with DAI.

68+ pages of posts from people who can't get Dragon Age: Inquisition to work properly hardly merit a response from Bioware employees, but the second someone suggests doing something that might hurt Ray Muzyka's soft, delicate feelings, holy cow, look at all the replies! Let me be the first to thank you for clearly demonstrating where your company's priorities are at. Any lingering doubts I had about my decision to get a refund have been removed.
Bless your heart.
Score one for our Twitter indian....
You can always re-buy when Bioware demonstrates a proper attitude towards its customers.
And, part of that will be in issuing you, and everyone who bought and them sought refund of the pre-order, all the perks of the original pre-order. That way you did not lose a thing by the actions of Bioware. That would be simply keeping things balanced. It does not help with being last to enter the game. So I am thinking more perks and DLC like other companies that have been mentioned earlier in this topic.
And, of course, all as a package at the reduced sale price at the time the game is completely patched/fixed/fit for consumption.
Another break gone by without being able to play the game properly. Thats awesome. Just a brick sitting on my hard drive.
And, I’m apparently on the Bioware twitch-a-madoozle on Friday afternoon.
@Mike_Laidlaw Ooooooooooo fun!
@Mike_Laidlaw is that tue official name?
Sorry, I'm really bad at posting twitter stuff, but it appears Mike Laidlaw is back on Twitter and will be doing a Twitch stream tomorrow?
will be playing with a controller I bet.

I totally agree that Bioware should never have released the game as is.
There are thousands upon thousands of people who disagree with you. I'm one of them. I am very glad that Dragon Age was released exactly when it was.
I've done one run through, and I'm looking forward to whatever improvements are made in the first patch so I can do a second run. (Hopefully with a new PC if I get lucky in the sales tomorrow!)
Some of you sound like entitled little kids. Despite my dissappointment with the UI and the fighting mechanics. I still enjoy the game so much. They have put so much effort, and have taken a lot of our feedback. They made the maps huge, the romances even better. Personal quests. The fact that people call you by your last name. My character is noticed. I love how your choices affects your game greatly.
I personally dislike the tactics; it feels dumbed down.
I cannot make my party members to stay still and attack at the same time. Maybe I am doing it wrong.
I don't like how I scroll with my middle mouse button takes me to tactical camera.
What happend to having like 15 skill slots on my UI? I loved that.
On another note. Have you people realized they have already acknolewed that the PC version has problems. Calm down. They are working on a patch. Patches in a game this big does not take hours or a few days. They need to assess the problem, fix it, and test it to see if it conflicts with other mechanics in the game. Trial and error. It pains me to see people diminishing this amazing game over something like this. And, Mr Darrah already said it:
"Player experience is a top priority for us. Our goal is to address as many of these as possible in our upcoming patches, including some in our next patch, which is underway. We’ll release further details in the coming days and will continue to monitor your concerns."
Behave people.
