That's because - after three weeks of patching - the issues persist.

http://www.eurogamer...-patch-analysed

Seems to me this response (regarding Ubi's efforts to patch Assassin's Creed Unity) is a wee bit misleading...

In particular the response failed to note that the first sentence of the cited link states, "This week, Ubisoft released a massive update to Assassin's Creed Unity, fixing an enormous range of bugs..." That ignored first sentence also links to a listing of "over three hundred fixes" that are resolved by Patch 3.

So even though it is true that Ubi didn't fix everything, it is also true that Ubi has issued three patches and implemented hundreds of fixes, as comared to 0 (zero) patches and 0 (zero) fixes by BioWare.

As for myself, I'd like to play DA:I, but only if I can do so without continuous hassle trying to make things work. I'm more than willing to pay for an overall enjoyable experience; but I don't want to purchase a bundle of frustrations. So I'll be waiting this one out until and unless the PC version gets fixed.

I have those drivers. I'm referring to the first post in the thread when Mark refers to working with AMD and nvidia to get driver fixes out.

I believe it means that nvidia engineers explain to DAI devs why all other games work without CTDs, and what devs could do to make their engine work properly.

Btw, AMD drivers didn't solve all problems with CTDs anyway.

Hey, first time posting in here, was hoping I could get some tips.

When I was debating whether I should get DA:I, I made sure that my PC could run the game, checking the recommended settings before buying it. I thought I might have to drop some superfluous stuff (honestly, who feels like they need antialiasing, anyway?), but it should run in the medium-and-highs range easily. In fact, the auto-select settings in-game say exactly that, and go as far as to set my texture level to Ultra.

I've got 8gb of RAM, an i7 processor, and an Nvidia GeForce GT 650m dedicated graphics card (Bioware recommends the 660)

Like I said, I thought I might have to lower some settings, but what I'm encountering is the game heavily bogging down in any situation where more than one person is doing something. I enter combat, and if there's more than 5 bodies doing stuff, or too many flashy spells, the game cuts to about half the normal speed.

I've been reading that there's apparently some significant issues the game is having with Nvidia cards, as well as poor PC optimization problems, and I was hoping someone could shed some light on my problem for me, perhaps let me know if "yeah, that's just the lack of optimization" or "Nope, 650 card means you can't play".
I mean, I knew I wasn't going to be playing on high-ultra for everything but I assumed that I could least keep textures, meshes and effects up in "high". Everything else is either "off" or "lowest" in the graphics menu, despite what the game auto-selected my settings to be when I first booted up the game, and my FPS is still god awful.

Anyone able to give me some answers? Will the upcoming PC patch hopeffully make the game run vastly better? It's not like this computer is massively outdated or anything, and I get Dragon Age is pretty, but it's not like i'm cranking everything up to ultra and refusing to budge or something.I'd just like to know whether I wasted my money on a game that's recommended settings told me, twice, that I'd have little trouble running the game.

Thanks a ton in advance!

The recommended gfx card is the GTX 660, not the GT 660m.

There's a huge difference, read up on it. When it comes to laptop cards compared to desktop cards, the names can be a bit confusing...

Okay, my initial post apparently wasn't all that clear. I was wondering if any issues with nvidia cards would be addressed in a Bioware patch or via a driver update. And yes, the beta drivers for AMD made the CTDs worse in many cases.

Woops. Dem oversights

Guess I'm way behind then? lol

Still doesn't much explain why the game insists "naw bro you can handle high settings" if I can't pull off the lowest ones..

If I have to guess, since both nvidia and amd didn't do anything so far (and they always work pretty quick when there are issues with drivers), it's up to devs solely.

I still fail to see what's particular positive if after three weeks there is still an "enormous range of bugs" present that need fixing and - to quote again "Performance remains disappointing overall".

The way Ubisoft deliberately f***d with their customers by setting that post launch review embargo means they won't get any credit for their damage control efforts from me ;). There may very well be companies that handle communications with their customers better than Bioware (and yes, I'm getting tired of having to put my game on hold, waiting for a patch that I have no idea if it will be worth the wait), but please don't paint Ubisoft, who have been atrocious in the past as well (always-online DRM anyone?) as some kind of positive example.

I also have a laptop that is almost identical to yours and I can only run the game at medium - low settings if I want to get 50~60 fps... laptops aren't really the ultimate gaming devices :)

Oh for sure, but I've always been content with 30-40 fps or so lol (your eyes won't pick up major disturbances unless FPS goes under 40 anyway)
Honestly, like I said, I keep everything but meshes and textures at the lowest possible (or off, where applicable), I'm just kind of appalled that it's still having so much trouble lol

Thanks a bunch for your time, I guess I'll just hope for the best >.<

what works for me is: having mesh and effects quality on ultra and the rest on low or off and the game looks pretty great and I am still able to get 50~60 fps. try it !

I have a gtx 660 OC / i7-4770, I'm having the same problems. low fps 50% of the time in DAI. I really want to know what are the settings in which I can get stable 60fps. We need a straight answer: "With recommended specs you can play @60fps on medium/high", or "No recommended specs are just to play @30fps on medium". Either case. why just don change the recommended specs to something higher. Like I told multiple times if the specs were something like "You need a i7-4770k@4.5ghz, a gtx 980 (preferable x2 on sli), and 32gb ram to play DAI how is meant to be played" I will just glad to be able to play DAI at 30fps on low setting. But that were not the recommended specs. I bought BF4 just to test my computer. It run 60fps in high and some things on ultra!

I have a 650 TI boost oc on my pc and I have everything on ultra and ambient occlusion and multisampling antialiasing turned off and it works at 60fps

EDIT: some of the areas that are filled with a lot of NPC can drop your fps REAL low sometimes

Clearly it is not correct to claim that "the problems" still persist when over 300 of those problems have been resolved. It is clearly misleading to cite a publication for the proposition that a company has failed to resolve "the problems" of a game when the publication specifically states that the company has resolved "an enormous range of bugs".

You now claim that fixing over 300 problems is not a positive step, a claim that makes not a bit of sense.

Do you by any chance happen to work for EA, BioWare, their agents, or an affiliated company?

Please go to any camp or city, go to to the hinterlands, go to the farms, go to redcliffe, or just go to the training camp where is Cass, and tell me that you have 60fps. Even people with 980 get 40-50fps there.

And NO, setting all things to ultra don't really gave you all to ultra, look at vegetation, if you put everything at medium vegetation takes priority and is more dense lowering fps, it you set terrain and water to high and leave vegetation to medium, bum less dense vegetation and you win 10 fps -_- how this thing works????

Not only areas filled with npc, got to the farms areas on the hinterlands there is just 3 npcs!!! 3!!!!! 2 guys in the near camp and 1 farmer, there is low fps, go to a higher point and look back to the farm, low fps!!!

im not sure thats right ... PC should give us better graphics/Fps compared to PS4 which limited in thos

Fact is that from a pure graphics perspective, there is almost no difference anymore between the PC and the PS4 with this game.

So it comes down to the control mechanism of mouse and keyboard. And the modability (which isn't there).

Consoles can now produce a graphic experience that matches the PC.

There is no vast difference between them anymore.

"When it comes to the post-processing pipeline, console versions use the equivalent to the high preset that, curiously enough, is also selected automatically when the general ultra preset is specified on the PC. By ticking this up to ultra, however, we noted a dramatic increase in depth of field resolution used during cut-scenes. While the game uses bokeh depth of field on consoles, the lower resolution of the effect results in noticeable pixelation artifacts around edges, leaving scenes looking a bit rough. The ultra setting on PC eliminates these anomalies altogether and produces a much more pleasing effect."

PC is not using Ultra sets there, and not running "hyperhighresolutionfromhell", also, probably not using nVidia DSR and ****... Console is equivalent to PC on all settings "High" 1080p "only" resolution and no anti aliasing at all, even so, frame rates on PS4/XboxOne will be expressively worst then, say, any "2.8Ghz+ QuadrCore, 4Gig+ DDR3 RAM, 670+ nVidia GTX" running at equivalent settings.

I can live with quirky controls and tac cam, it's just that the game is unplayable for me.. DirectX crash every cutscenes; I have already tried almost everything I could find scouting the forums and other websites... this patch is the only chance I'll get to play the game. And I don't even know for certain that I will be able to play after the patch comes out!

I am in a similar position, I am trying to playing this one with a controller, which is ideal for this game it seems, same as it was with dark souls, this my preference though. But the fact that this mess of a game just don't wanna run on my computer and I run a year old rig that has a GTX 760 and a i7 4770k CPU with 16 gb ram on a windows 7 OS.

The fact that the game crashes, no matter what I do, I use the fps unlock with reduced graphics, And I am running the so called "hot-fix" drivers from Nvidia (344,80) and I still crash. Then again I tried to run it borderless and turn down the ambient occulasion (spelling?) and same issue there. So my issue isn't controls at all, it's probably as most people on this thread, the game won't bloody run properly. I mean controls sure it is annoying but the fact that the game won't run in an ideal fashion is even more frustrating.

I have been really looking forward to Far cry 4 and this title, and I completed farcry 4 just 3 days after it was released no problems there and I started this and I just don't know anymore. First it was the piece of **** Sims city then it was Battlefield 4 and now this.. I hope there is some sort of compensation or something to fix this, maybe a free DLC for the game, I mean most devs or publishers or whatever has a patch out the next 4 days.(which seems to be the thing now with the industry now) But 10 days is a little much of a killer for a AAA title that has major crash issues. I guess I will have to wait as they seem to not have a proper communication with the costumers like I have seen alot of other companies does.

But I guess I just wanted to get my words out there so they know I guess, but if they care I can't really say.

Unless the "problem" is considered to be that which is one of the main problems in AC Unity: Performance. The publication does conclude that "performance remains disappointing", despite these patches.

Wait.. You think that BioWare will make performance improvements in the patch? Keep dreaming.. At least Ubi is fixing bugs in Unity and FC4, and that's all I'm hoping BW will do for DAI for now..

P.S. Maybe AMD/NVidia will make some small performance tweaks in their drivers, but that's just a big maybe...

So, almost 3000 replies just in this post and still no news on the patch. Except for this post where they acknowledge our ¨concerns¨ (PR BS) it is a total blackout regarding the patch. I am counting on them releasing it before the weekend starts so, maybe, we can finally play a game that has been released 10 days ago.

Please stop disappointing us Bioware.
