(this is a repost btw trying to get this to people who are having similar problems)
Hey Guys, i might have a possible albiet probably temporary fix for those with hang ups, freezes and such when on loading screens. After perusing the interwebs for days and trying all the fixes this is what i did and went from waiting 10 to 20 minutes on each and every loading time (because it would just freeze and chill there for a long time) to waiting maybe 3 to 5 minutes (its been just around 3 the last two times i tested) I went to the properties on both origin and dai icons on my desktop and switched off any compatibility modes and "run as administrator" upon testing it was only a bit faster but would still freeze for a ridiculous amount of time, then on a whim i deleted the day one patch (found in your program files and dai install directory in the folder Update) and hit "check for update" it updated and put origin in offline mode, Loaded up to the menu very quickly. Upon loading my save game the wait time is about 3 to 5. For some that may indeed still be a very long wait, however i'm quite okay with that considering i was being forced to wait 15-20 minutes upon loading up an area. Don't get me wrong i still hope they fix this issue in the next patch but for now i hope this little work around will help those who have trouble getting into the game upon launching especially with freezes on loading screens.
Also turning superfetch off in services is another fix. I don't know if this will work for everyone or even work for some. Just trying to help by passing on what has help me a bit. One more note: user.cfg (some may have used with Battlefield 4) has helped in some fps drops again I hope it works for you guys so you can atleast play for a bit while we all wait for a patch.
While I do want a patch as fast as possible, heck I pre-ordered the game for a reason, I also want a patch that works. Information on what and when would be nice, but I guess it can be difficult beforehand to know exactly what the end-result will be, and when it will be ready. Suppose the patch in testing turns the minimap blue for whatever reason, back to the drawing table
Again I don't care about when. But to me not telling what they intend to fix is just another marketing scam - this way they delay you in returning the game until it's too late. For a lot of people if they don't intend to fix the cam/UI/control the game is not enjoyable to play, as they have to fight the controls, and they would return it. I am sorry but that is the logical explanation on why there is no answer as to WHAT they intend to address.
The problem here could be (emphasize "could") in why it was done this way is because a console is likely to get unacceptable frame loss from a camera that high and forcing the system to process and display that many more objects. Pure speculation for sure, but the decision is "sane" if the product was mandated to be identical across all platforms. A GTX 980 is quite the beast (I think) compared to a console, I am playing this game on a 3 Gig GTX 580 and its working fine for me albeit relatively low FPS most of the time. I am in no way excusing BW/EA for the limitation on Tac Cam zoom. In fact this could easily explain a lot of the design decisions for the UI and controls as well.
Having said that, when in Tac Cam mode, the player is presumably playing DA:O style tactical with pause and go so FPS is therefore theoretically less of an issue, so yeah, not sure why not let the player zoom to his hearts' content. The only other thing is that it may cause the console to use all of its available memory in some situations and crash.
this...and i'm pretty sure this will not work in closed quarters and caves. there is no cut out of objects that prevent the view on your characters in the game. and i'm pretty sure at borders of maps you are able to see things you shouldnt see and would result in graphical glitches. so just make the possibilty to zoom the camera further out is just a part of the problem. but nevertheless it would be nice if they would manage to implement this thing in the game, but it looks like a lot of work
HELL I dont even care about tac cam, there are pepole here like myself who bought a new computer that is worth 2060 us dollars and the game is lagging like **** on low, please bioware, fix that. Please. Tell me you are working on that issue, Idk if that is the issue with nivida or whatever, but my computer is a monster computer, and I dont want to know I bought a 2060 dollar worth computer to run this game on LOW!

Then that's work they should have done before release. Because as is, Tactical View is borderline worthless most of the time. Its useless indoors since it gets stuck on the ceilings and outdoors, even in large areas, it gets stuck on trees or randomly zooms in on the ground. Nevermind that it doesn't offer any actual tactical view since the most zoomed out view is rarely sufficient to see the whole battlefield.
The abysmal state of the Tactical View, complete gutting of companion Tactics AI, complete regression of the PC controls/interface and general technical instability really make me want to put the game down for a bit while they hopefully address these issues. Which is a shame since there is good stuff in the game.
Its just really disappointing to see the state that the PC release is in considering how solid Origins was. Personally, if this is what amounts to BioWare giving the PC version plenty of TLC, then I'd just prefer they give their PC versions to some other developer like Nixxes or someone that really puts the requisite time and resources into their PC ports.

So far I assume they'll be adressing the following, among other issues, in the coming patches:
from Darrah: (this thread)
*Driver support
*Hitching and frame rate issues in cutscenes
*Keyboard and mouse controls
*General user interface optimizations for PC
from Laidlaw:
*Tactical view force-centering when switching party members is a bug and will be addressed in the next patch.
*Aware of requests to have a walk toggle as well. Under investigation.
*We are aware of PC folks missing the "hold" functionality for search highlighting. Fix may not be a hold, but may be able to improve it.
Appart from the performance issues (using a GTX970 atm) the only thing i'd like would be the ability to save character appearance so i can use it on a new playthrough. =)

thank you.
glad we were able to pay $60 to beta test the game!
So, where is this zoom camera fix??
I can't find it on this thread

yes many things should have been done before release
not just here nearly in every game released nowadays
for the tactical mode, no its not useless in any way (using it all the time with m&kb because of high difficulty setting). when you move the camera from top down to an angle shown in the video you get in the current state mostly a great overview too. sometimes in closed quarters the camera can be forced to stupid angles but because you can control it with wasd and right mouse button you can easily maneuver it somewhere else, i never made the experience it was stuck to something. it is sometimes clunky and you need a little to get used to it, but its in no way useless. the only exception was in a view caves at stormcoast, but that was buggy and even the ai messed up there, never experienced somewhere else this problem
a way bigger problem is the ai in itself, for example that a rogue for no reason doesnt stay behind an enemy and wanders around him while attacking, really fun on higher levels with enemies with aoe attacks.
<snip>
In my experience, long load times have been significantly shortened by turning Ambient Occlusion off. Apologies if I've missed that, but have you tried that?
For those that wan't a more zoomed out tactical or normal cam, some talented folks at CheatEngine created a zoom script for both. You can find it here http://forum.cheaten...r=asc&start=315as well as installation instructions and how to apply the script.

you sir are definitly my favourite person in this thread =D
The worst is that I'm not actually suprised when I read this... =X

I think I've mentioned it before (maybe even in this thread?) but the gimped Tactical View and the gutted companion Tactics AI really go hand in hand in making a subpar tactical party based RPG experience.
If just one was better or even on par with what we had in Origins, that would make things so much more enjoyable. If you could customize the companion AI more, then you wouldn't need to babysit all your companions as much in combat, meaning you wouldn't be forced to use the subpar Tactical View. Or, if the Tactical View was more full featured, then micromanaging your party due to the gimped AI wouldn't be as much of a hassle.
Unfortunately, as is, both the Tactical View and the Companion AI are bad.
I havent seen the issue on this but I have it. I know about the 8 to 12 count of potion bug. BUT mine is I cant acquire make or CARRY any different potions!! I have Skyhold and been told I should be able to use all 3 Potion slots I have open, but I can ONLY ACCESS TYPE OF POTION!! The Instant Heal potion. I have TONS of the required Herbs for Health Regen and Lyrium. I have even attempted to Upgrade them to see if that would bypass this bug and it hasnt. I cant make them or carry them I can put the Icon in the slot but it still wont allow me to make either the Lyrium or Regen Health potion. I also am not sure that the upgrade I did on the Instant heal potion is being applied either?? Is this a known bug I have missed??
oh and forgot two more threads:

We NEED them both: customizable AI behavior, like in DAO; AND a better, more zoomed out pause and tactical camera modes.
Also, being able to give orders for movement and abilities use in pause mode is of the essence, just as the AI actually KEEPING the commands you give in Tactical Camera Mode and Pause Mode when you take the game back to "normal"(3rd person) mode, specially their (the party members) position (instead of just moving around freely).
SO BIOWARE: YES OR NO??
I can only give you my opinion and preference when it comes to PC controls vs. controllers: I hate controllers. I don't like them, not one bit, they are too small, too clunky and too inaccurate. I don't like controllers one bit, not even a little.
That being said, I suspect some bias entered into the development of the control scheme for this game. The fact that '4 out of 5 systems' the game was being developed for used controllers speaks volumes.
The other fact is that he current PC control scheme is shockingly different from even DA2 (I just played through the game 3 times preparing for this game's release) to say nothing of DA:O. The PC controls in this game are simply terrible, for melee at least. You have made ranged combat so forgiving in targeting that it really doesn't matter if you aim or not; but some melee careful aim is important and it just isn't possible with the current system.
Just roll the system back to DA2, problem solved. It's sad you guys didn't think of this three years ago.
I agree.
While there are indeed things that needs more testing and may be complicated to patch, the very basic thing of adding the Walk toggle should take no time at all, but make a HUGE difference to a lot of gamers.

Hmm.. so nothing through the Thanksgiving holiday, eh?
Not surprising.
I had a thought the other day that I don't think I've read anywhere on here. If they are somehow able to give us just 2 features, 1) click to move in Action Cam, and 2) click to attack in Action Cam .... is there any further reason the PC would actually need the Tactical Camera?

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. As long as there was a quick way to switch between party members' viewpoints (like Tab), then tactical view may be unnecessary since combat can be paused. I suppose it'd require pausing and tabbing through players to check status of battles though rather than just zoom out and get the full view.
It sounds like the biggest obstacle for click-to-move is pathing since jumping/tiered terrain is permitted. It's interesting how such a relatively simple thing turns into a huge issue for AI/pathfinding in a game like DA:I.
right now i think its more important to fix those crashes and such things so everyone can play than put in some new features.
features = suggestions..crash/bug-fix = must have
just wait, u wont get this Patch faster for asking "where is the patch?"
Well knowing how f long we should wait could put some minds at ease.
