I can only give you my opinion and preference when it comes to PC controls vs. controllers:  I hate controllers.  I don't like them, not one bit, they are too small, too clunky and too inaccurate.  I don't like controllers one bit, not even a little.

That being said, I suspect some bias entered into the development of the control scheme for this game.  The fact that '4 out of 5 systems' the game was being developed for used controllers speaks volumes.

The other fact is that he current PC control scheme is shockingly different from even DA2 (I just played through the game 3 times preparing for this game's release) to say nothing of DA:O.  The PC controls in this game are simply terrible, for melee at least.  You have made ranged combat so forgiving in targeting that it really doesn't matter if you aim or not; but some melee careful aim is important and it just isn't possible with the current system.

Just roll the system back to DA2, problem solved.  It's sad you guys didn't think of this three years ago.

I agree but like one of my friends told me we are Dinosaurs now to game makers.  So they dont see us as there prime market.  I hate controlers too I cant play an fps with one at all, but my 8 year old son can.  But my point to EA, UBI and other publishers is where does the under 16 market get the 60-70 dollars to buy these messes?

Someone on r/dragon age fixed the tactical view mode. Something bioware still couldn't do.

so, bioware - now you look realy bad... someone without free access to the complete programm code has managed what you promised since 2 years in a cuple of days...

you also didn´t manage to do the same and apply it via patch in the same timespawn this coder had even though you had more manpower? rly....

I can kinda understand that you went into information lockdown to prevent further negative responses but i believe this will only hurt you more after this!

pls. start talking to us again

The current button setting "auto-run" seems to be more for "run without holding a button" type of auto-run.

It would be really nice if this also auto-sprinted.

And in multiplayer, I think it's actually impossible to both autorun and sprint simultaneously. :o

So who's running AMD and who's running Nvidia?.  I'm in the latter camp with GTX690's in SLI, and a six core i7 processor, and 16GB RAM.  From what I'm reading, the AMD camp seems to be getting more solutions than Nvidia. I've written to them with my DxDiag, and other questions about the 3D settings for the system, but haven't heard back.  I keep thinking it's a graphic setting, but I've spent several hours experimenting to no avail. Latest drivers, of course, including trying the new "Hot Fix" beta driver Nvida is offering. I REALLY want to play this game.

I find it comprehensible that someone with dual GTX690's in SLI is having problems running this game when I can run it on a GTX250....  just a single GTX250 with 1GB of ram...

I'm incredibly tempted by that mod/hack for tactical view, but I don't want to get hit by the banhammer. Can we get some clarity from BW whether using it will have negative consequences?

Yes, very much so. The tactical view is a lot more usable now, and can actually be "strategic" where you now have a much wider view of the battlefield and can actually plan. Before it was like watching a chess board from the height of a bishop.

The negative consequences are that you are messing around with in-game memory, and your game can crash, or you can experience other undesirable results. One time I could not select any of my other characters, and had to reload. It isn't recommended for the skittish, but it works and it makes a difference.

If you have never done something like this before, I don't recommend you start with this hack.

I really wish they had exposed the developer console and game files to PC users :-(

This is not true. The PC market is too big and constantly growing to be left behind :). Just BW has gone that way. There are plenty of devs that create RPG specially for PC. It's fine though - another company will swallow the market BW left behind. They will probably realize at some point the mistake they made here, just hope it won't be too late for them.

I recommend you try Original Sin - true RPG game that doesn't hold your hand and is tons of fun to play :)

I find this ironic.

Only... gtx 250? I though there's gts 250.

Hmm..  so nothing through the Thanksgiving holiday, eh?

Not surprising.

I had a thought the other day that I don't think I've read anywhere on here.  If they are somehow able to give us just 2 features, 1) click to move in Action Cam, and 2) click to attack in Action Cam ....  is there any further reason the PC would actually need the Tactical Camera?

Seeing as Bioware is a Canadian developer. It wasn't their thanksgiving, so it actually is surprising. That would be like saying its not surprising for an American company to not respond over Guy Fawkes Day, or something similar.

Wauw, reading this topic makes me think I am one of the lucky ones... I don't crash, I don't have low fps or flickering grafics.

The only problems I have is stuff like birds floating in midair and all armor being the same color(Tan).

Still, I hope that the patch gets released sooner rather than later, who knows what will happen later on in the game.

I am starting to believe that there may be a trend here whereby older generation GPUs are more stable than newer ones.  I am running with a GTX 580 and no issues either. Clue?  Imagination (on my part)?

Well in case of AMD, on my crossfired R9 290X I get poor scaling in DX11 mode, plus it causes flashing surfaces. The day-1 AMD drivers mentioned something about working with Bioware to get it fixed.
In case of Mantle: Scaling is MUCH better (as in nearly 200% vs single GPU mode), however it causes hitches and minor stutters, and extreme loading times. Also in 4K res it takes up a lot more VRAM than in DX11 mode. And it causes a flashing moon when it's dark, and very rarely this crossfire-sync issue (some flickering in shadowy areas). Oh and not to mention the pure white smoke/fog effects, which isn't an AMD issue apparently.
Single GPU performance is perfect, none of the above issues, but less fps obviously...

So I guess Multi-GPU isn't working that great still, for both of the teams...

Ha, it was Black Friday here though (I am Canadian). There were a number of empty parking spots at my work today.

The guy who though that these controls are nice idea, should be trialed. And yes, TacCam is basically a FreeCam from Battlefield 4.

I, by the end of me, can't see ANY reason to use it. Might just go without it, would be a far better experience.

And this is the problem with games nowadays, put in shoehorned mp and you can't risk modding freaking singleplayer otherwise it might ban you for no reason and a whole part of the game will be locked away from you.
