I suspect limitations of the Frostbite engine may be a contributing factor

Again, where is the evidence of this?

I'm not saying its not a logical opinion, but unless they come out and say it, I find it hard to believe it's an obstacle they simply cannot overcome. It's Bioware, not some indie company.

This is lame, I would rather they delay the PC version until next year while fixing the controls. At least I could have spend money on far cry 4.

This thread is far too bitter for me to stay. But I'm just saying, they already acknowledged concerns and gave a general outlook on what they're investigating. Them being hard at work isn't determined by them continuously saying they're working on the issue- no matter how detailed. You gain nothing by knowing untested features that have been coded, also it takes time to patch in general plus they want to do it right. The game is incredible and I could see the tears, sweat and blood that's went into it. If they want to optimize controls, tactical camera and bugs it's going to take time to make it right.

Objectively the game is pretty playable in its current state, given that enough feedback has been given and enough whining has been done to pressure BW, its better if you just either play the game, or resume your life as normally as you would without the game.

If you don't like people coming to this thread to whine, then why did you come to this thread to whine?

When you consider that the current state of DAI is how it existed way back in the first week of Nov, and that often, companies have large amounts of fixes ready for patching immediately after release because they did not have time to include them before the Gold announcement (Nov 7th here), it is hard to have such an optimistic outlook.

I understand this perfectly. However I'd also add that Bioware = Bethesda (enter similar company name here) when it comes to patches in that they won't even try to fix all of the bugs in their own game. Patience is a virtue and a virtue, but don't expect too much. More than likely we can only expect some quest fixes, sound and companion issues, misc publicly acknowledged bugs resolved and the absolute worst of the technical bugs fixed (on consoles). While this is a lot, I don't hold much hope for companies that end up leaving fans to fix the most persistent bugs

Because it's well within my rights to disagree with the atrocities that are the comments here, and I wanted to speak up against them. I said what I wanted to say and I'm taking my leave, agree or disagree I do not care.

Remember that PC controls and tactical camera is something raised by the players. They could have anticipated them being released negatively but it's a difficult position to be put in because you're not sure whether what you changed in the game is right or wrong and whether changing them again would be for better or for worse.

I love reading from so many different posters how beautiful and engrossing the game is apart from the controls.
It makes me feel justified in not starting the game yet.
Though the current sale over at Steam is making it hard to just spend my time in the character creator...

Ha.
I know, what you mean. I'm from europe and had to wait for the 20. of November, so I decided to use a VPN tool to play it from the 18. on.
These two days I only spent in the character creator, trying out every race and gender. I love character creators. I easily can spend hours playing around with the customisation.

While I can understand all the critizism about the awkward controls, my personal concern is more from the immersive pov. I don't like the immersion breaking bugs in this game just like no blanting between your companions (fortunately I don't have this bug), the gender problem and especially the changing voice after... you may know after what. I know there's a kind of a workaround with this particular problem, but for me it's very unsatisfying, because I want to experience the whole world like I played it in the first two episodes. That said it's also pretty sad to see that some preferences from the keep are not identified correctly.

But the most important thing was and still is: When can we expect a patch!? Hellohoo Bioware, can you hear us??

Designing a game for the PC doesn't mean making it ideally work with KBM. Look at TW2, whose control scheme was clearly optimized for the controller but for which suggesting that it was not PC-lead development would be ridiculous.

I don't follow what you mean. Why is it not most appropriate and desirable to design a game to function as optimally as possible with the native controls of the particular system you are designing for? Is the inverse of what you claim also true - that designing a game for consoles doesn't entail trying to make it work ideally with controllers? This seems absurd to me unless one assumes that quality is not a prerequisite goal of game design.

I also don't see why it is ridiculous to argue that the TW2 was not a PC-lead game in development in terms of its UI and some of its mechanics (eg combat system and quick-time events). I personally consider TW2 to be a console-type game, regardless of its optimisation for pretty on the PC.

So your opinion is that it's possible they thought the PC community would have no issues with the pc control scheme as it currently exists?

It feels like you and I are reading entirely different threads. Out of curiosity, if you had to make a guess, what do you think would be the ratio of atrocity: acceptable posts made in this thread?

Heh, that's actually quite surprising. It reminds me of playing Rainbow Six on PC over 10 years ago leading a team of 4 AI squadmates, whenever I crouched, seeing all 4 of them crouch along with me.

But yes, how hard could it have been to program that mechanic with, say, a variable staggering of the sheathing animations. Wow, look how much better that looks....

Subjectively I still cannot play due of all the directx crashes within the first 5 minutes. And there are alot more that have the same problem, even with trying any possible solution you can find on the forum.

Just saying, since the mayority here talks as if the controlls are the most important thing, while alot of people cannot even play at all.

If I have to guess, since both nvidia and amd didn't do anything so far (and they always work pretty quick when there are issues with drivers), it's up to devs solely.

They did. The problem is the game. AMD hotfix still crases with cut-scenes.

Since the most recent Origin update, the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_RESET has been happening every ten minutes of gameplay.

Regardless of the settings, and after spending a week finishing the first playthrough with maximally ten crashes, on factory ultra settings.

The two might not be related but it's worth checking.

It appears that the game NEEDS more that 2Gigs of video memory. Many people like myself experiencing random crashes to desktop with 2Gigs. What the ****

Well hey, I feel you. It really sucks. Hopefully folks with these game-breaking technical problems can take comfort in this being a priority issue for Bioware, whereas those with concerns about the controls and GUI have no idea to what extent those concerns will be addressed or if they will be at all.

Nobody said you weren't allowed to whine. Naturally though, most people find it odd when someone complains about other people allegedly doing something, then proceeds to do the exact same thing. It's not unreasonable to ask why. Please calm down.

It will be interesting to see how/if Bioware eventually deal with this. Particularly in light of Ubisoft's recent apology and gift to players who had to deal with the Assassins Creed Unity problems. DAi has had least the same level of technical problems that Unity had, and far, far worse for a enormous number of PC gamers.

At this point its looking like they're going to bunker down, do nothing and wait for the firestorm to blow over, while hoping enough people forget between now and christmas.

I've already read a news story where Ubisoft gives a DLC for the problems that occurred with the game ... I hope to get the same treatment with DA: I, I think the minimum and also because since he came out that I'm not playing for all these bugs etc.
