While I have the same frame rate and clipping/crashing problems that others have reported, it doesn't happen very often.  Still, it is very frustrating when my DA:2 game never gave me problems.

As for the controls, I honestly like these much better as they are what I'm used to with other PC games I play.

Hey Bioware dev team. The AMD beta drivers don't seem to help my case (Radeon HD 7850). It's crashing at start up now after only getting an hour into the game.

I can't help but feel that unless Bioware starts to genuinely engage its aggrieved PC customers regarding the concerns in this thread, they are only going to cop more flak when the first patch is released and people's hopes are squashed. They will still get questions of, 'Are you going to fix x?' and 'What about y feature?'. I seriously doubt they will be able to satisfy everyone's complaints considering that even the most commonly shared key issues require such significant changes.

Far better to begin a process of expectation management now, by entering a dialogue about why they may not be able to change certain things, so that people can understand or at least better appreciate where Bioware is coming from. The current lack of communication is exacerbating the problem of people's misaligned expectations caused by their (ahem) marketing campaign, and just looks shady.

Unless they really are planning a comprehensive patch with a significant overhaul of the GUI, controls and tactical camera...

Hey guys... It's EAWare we are talking about. Have you ever played SWTOR?
I fully expect a 2.3GB patch in couple of weeks, and patch notes will read:

  • Corrected several typos is tooltips
  • Added support for upcoming DLC

That would be nice.. if there actually WERE tooltips lol

i'm pretty sure the stability issues are the most work intensiv and maybe they didnt find a solution till now. now imagine they would release a patch only addressed for a view controls and the crashes remain the same. people which suffer from this would go absolutely bonker because fixing little things and they still cant play. the good thing is, the longer it takes to solve the crashes, the more of the little changes are in the patch.

If you don't mind me asking (your answer might help me decide whether I buy the game or not), as someone who prefers these controls to DA:2's (and DA:Origins' I presume?) could you please tell me what these other games are you mention with similar controls, and give me your opinion on whether I will be able to play Inquisition in the manner I hope to... That is, mainly in zoomed out isometric view surveying the battlefield, positioning all of my party and giving orders without controlling any particular individual extensively, as I am used to from games like DA:Origins, Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale?

It's just that from looking at a few let's plays and reading people's complaints about this game it seems like I will not be able to do so enjoyably.

I've managed to have my first extended session with the game, so far I've had about 5-8 crash to desktop and i cannot even play on ultra settings without immense lag, i am pretty sure my specs can handle the game:

Core i5 4570 @ 3.2ghz

8 GB DDR3 1600

game is installed on my ssd

2 x Radeon hd7850 in crossfire

Cput temp's barely spike above 50 when playing.

whether i run the game in dx11 or mantle i cannot move my settings above low without it having immense FPS lag. and my drivers are up to date.

i am really disappointed with the game's non-optimization for pc at all, it's really unstable and ruining my experience

also while you guys at bioware are busy patching, why not change the whole game. Make females look like females instead of male like creatures with boobs. Also while you are at that, give more features to cusomazation cause its just as boring as DA2.

You put male and female hair together on 1 slider for both male and female?? What, you want to make it look like there is 15 hairstyles but meantime there are only 6 male hairstyles and 9 female hairstyles that look like male hairstyles?? Jesus.....

No matter how hard i try i cannot make my female character look like a female. My women looks like a man with make up. You guys did not even do any effort into adding extra morph and body features to change for a female character. Instead you gave us the same customasation sliders as a male character cause you are to lazy to do a propper job. Now i need to play as a drag queen

This is next gen, but you keep it lame as DA2?? Saints row has better customasation than this  game thats suppose to be next gen? Wait, you say this customasation is next gen only cause you added face morph features thats a screw up anyway?? Dont make me laugh...

The lame customasation is the only working mechanic you left alone thats the same as DA2, futher more you gone and take an already working mechanic (tac cam, loot controls, camera controls ect ect) and fucked it up.

Why did you not just use same mechanics as in DA2?? Now you gone and change it to "next gen". Now its more like crap gen.

this could have been a awesome game, but as always bioware let the pc community down yet again and we paid $60 for this crap cause the devs was to lazy to test this on a computer and change what needed to be changed before release. Instead they gave us a broken console port with a rip off price.

Customasation and more customasation options and more hair, eyes and body options can prob not be changed now as its part of the core game, but god.......

I hope the stability and performance issues are indeed the most work intensive because that would mean a better chance that all the other issues will be addressed, being less work intensive. I'm just not sure that all, or even most, of the things people are hoping to see changed are actually little fixes.

Though yeah, some people would probably go a bit apeshit if they patched a walk toggle in without making the game actually playable for everyone at the same time  :P

to be honest your system is a little weak for everything on ultra. turn of msaa gives a huge performance boost and overall high to ultra is nearly no difference

OT but this is not true in any shape, form or fashion. E.g. tac mode has click to attack, just use that to coordinate during harder fights if running melee classes. If **** really hits the fan, turn off AI and micromanage like in DAO. I'm currently dagger rogue on nightmare and doing just fine in that regard.

As for this thread, I feel like a lot of the somewhat unfounded criticism actually deters from Bioware finding out about actual issues. Focus, people!

Edit: if your message was meant as sarcastic, I apologize! hungover and not on my A game

No, what deters Bioware from actually gathering info are posters like you cluttering the thread saying, "I'm not having any problems, so everything's fine, learn how to adapt, stop complaining about something you already paid for. Great game Bioware! You rock!"

We hope.

That's the double edged sword of little to no communication. It's a boom or bust fist patch situation, mostly because they are making it so.

yeah im not happy with the communication too, but i understand why they do it. nearly everything they would say would be twisted and used to fire the shitstorm, there is a border where you can reasonable talk to people. triumph did a great job with communication at age of wonders 3, most people love the funny and responsive cm but the game suffered not from a shitstorm so it was easy.

I think that the majority of the "thread clutter" is, "Hey, let's check EA's stock!" and "Make a Facebook page!" and "Somebody check Twitter because I don't know how!" from people who aren't even playing the game. People who have vested interests in some kind of improvement, e.g. people who like the game but their enjoyment would be increased tenfold by at least one of the changes mentioned being implemented, are the ones Bioware should be listening to.

I like the game (I mean, have you been to the Sword Coast?! It's amazing!), and even if nothing changes, I'll continue to enjoy the game. I won't ragequit because I don't like the controls. I won't even refuse to even try just because I feel like being a punk. I'll just buy a controller. I'll enjoy the game for what it is even if I want something different. PC players, including myself, have made a lot of noise. Bioware knows what we want. Whether we get it has probably already been determined.

Not sure if you're trolling... This has been mentioned repeatedly (and it's the reason I returned the game): if you're looking for DA:O or BG gameplay you will be disappointed by DA:I. It's a beautiful world with an intriguing story and characters, but the gameplay and combat feels like a single-player World of Warcraft.

Here's hoping tactical combat, camera, and PC controls can be improved with patches. I won't hesitate to repurchase if BioWare eventually delivers.

I won't bicker about it, perhaps I should've met the complaint with better reasoning. But then again, if someone perceives classes as not valid on higher difficulty levels, just look up random youtube playthroughs on nightmare and figure it out, same as every other game. I wouldn't have had a problem with such a statement if it actually rang true, but it doesn't. Didn't mean to make a big deal out of that one post though and I'll quit my cluttering now. For reference, the gist of my response was: yes, auto-follow on attack would be nice in third person, however it works in tac mode and thus you can play melee classes on nightmare just fine.

Then no - this is not the game for you.

As I am big fan of the games you mentioned, I wouldn't' recommend this game to any person looking for similar mechanics/gameplay/tactical options as the games you mentioned.

If you played SWTOR - this is as tactical deep as SWTOR, but with worse PC controls. And camera/And AI. And crashes. And gender swap buggs. And no fullscreen...

You get the point.

I would highly recommend to you thought  a new game - Divinity:Original Sin, this is RPG as in BG with new clothes RPG with amazing story. Doesn't hold your hand. You have absolute freedom to build whatever the fuk you want as character, has tactical decisions. It true RPG in it's full glory :) Warning : If you play it - you will loose hours of sleep, you will feel deep satisfaction after winning every small encounter, you will cry sometimes, you will scream sometimes, you will curse. For all the right reasons though. Cause there you have to think before each fight how to take it :)

I have only played an Archer Rogue on nightmare myself.. and I saw little to no difference in actual difficulty.  I only noticed 2 things.. The 1st was enemies level caps were raised for certain areas.. IE.. the hinterlands used to cap at 12, but when I was 17 the enemies capped at 15...  So, there was that.  The 2nd thing was that "Boss" enemies tended to have more HP...

But as far as actual "difficulty" nothing much felt different.

Sure, after the 30th page with no further info after the first post. I'm not disagreeing and saying those posts help, but those kinds of posts are, for the most part, always done out of extreme dissatisfaction with the issue of the thread. That's easy to understand.

Coming on here and telling people to just deal with it or to pick up a controller does nothing but lead to pages and pages of **** Allan and the rest have to wade through to find more info. The former does as well, but it's not nearly as inflammatory.

I'm not trolling, it was a sincere question to LastPatriot. I think I've got a pretty clear picture of how this game plays currently... but I could be wrong. I was hoping that someone with a different playstyle from myself could explain how they enjoy this control system and how it plays for them, which would help me determine if I could get any enjoyment out of Inqusition myself in case it isn't patched to resemble something closer to my preferences.

I was also hoping to communicate to LastPatriot why some people might have issues with this control scheme & camera, in case it wasn't clear to them.

Yeah, I do get it  ;)

I backed the hell out of Original Sin but haven't played it yet. Saving it for some special epic holiday playtime. VERY excited!  :wizard:

Inquisition I might purchase, depending upon what Bioware does with it and their response to consumers generally. I wasn't very impressed with that 'Made by PC Gamers, for PC Gamers video' and will only support this company with my money if I feel their overall response offers some justice to consumers.
