Does look like they want to fixed every thing about the controls before patch is released. Just got an updated from my nvidia cards so it looks like graphic issues are being fixed.

@Allan Schumacher:

First of all i want to say how disappointed i was, when i played Dragon Age Inquisition for like 30 minutes. After the great Origins and almost as great Dragon Age 2 i had so much hope for the 3rd part. I posted alot in the Feedback Forum and supported threads that showed how many failures Dragon Age Inquisition had for the PC. It just feels like a bad port from console. Simply the tactical camera, that does NOT give you any good view on the battle field was enough for me to feel cheated by Bioware. On the PC i wanted to play a more strategic game and a less Action oriented one.

I am still a bit pissed and didnt play on. But i have to admit, its particular appeasing, that you react to the community.

I want to say thank you. Its not taken to be granted that you expose with the community.

Though! I still hope for a very good patch! My Dragon Age experience is still ruined because this feels for me like any Action game for a console :-).

That NEVER works out because the patch will introduce new issues and then we have to wait weeks more to get that fixed. I don't understand why companies do this. Releasing small patches in smaller times frames allows for better isolation of smaller issues.

Probably because of consoles. Because of ¨parity¨ they probably are aiming at releasing a patch on all platform at the same time or, at least, very closely together. But, patches for consoles requires verification and approval by MS and Sony, which takes time, so for them, bigger, infrequent patches are better that smaller, frequent patches.

The first one is absolutely not false, since it's a vague and general statement and pretty easy for any company to justify as being generally adequate for PC gameplay. The differences between the console and PC UI are painfully apparent and it clearly was created just for PC. The fact that it's a bad UI doesn't make the statement misleading.

The second one is painfully true. Click to move is a feature in the tactical camera, as is auto-attack. The camera can zoom in a comparable but not identical way to the DAO camera. Bioware wasn't suggesting the gameplay was isometric and then sold you an FPS. These fine gradations that are so important to you aren't even close to being a basis for a consumer complaint regarding false advertising.

There's absolutely no basis for a complaint to the FTC. The regulator isn't here for "the product is essentially what was advertised" situations where consumers feel the quality is subpar. The regulator is here for patently false advertising that induced a purchase - the equivalent would be Bioware saying DAI works on dual core CPUs when they knew very well it didn't.

You're free to believe what you'd like to believe. But this is a situation where your lack of familiarity with what the FTC does and your very intimate familiarity with DAO is leading you astray.

I find this convincing and only have this to say (as I am out of my depth on this matter)... the legal system is clearly not perfect and fails society regularly. The lawyers have plenty of weasel room here.

In Exile, is it your personal opinion as well as your legal opinion that the aforementioned video and statements are not misleading or false, in spirit or according to the letter of the law?

All these crashes are totally destroying my Inquisition game experience. I play it at much lower than my hardware supports and still... I'm sad to give this game a 5/10 (for the PC support).

So I've been playing pretty regularly for the last several days with m+kb and while it's not ideal, I'm making it work. The biggest adaptation I'm making is in how I use the tactical camera. When combat starts, switch to tactical camera, but immediately pitch the camera back down so it's more over-the-shoulder. This lets you issue orders with RMB, pan around the battle field with wasd, and see most of the enemies.

Fighting like this is pretty decent, not perfect by any means, but not exactly a chore either. My biggest gripes with gameplay using this method:

1. Enemy nameplates are huge, intrusive, and obey odd rules for when they display.

2. Panning the camera involves moving an invisible man along the ground. Still flabbergasted by this choice/limitation.

3. Having to drag the camera back to where you want it when you select a new party member.

4. It doesn't alleviate the fact that AI tactics for party members are a mess (i turn most abilities off and babysit, but I like that anyway)

Of course I still have non-combat gripes that indicate lazy console-focused design:

1. The pinging to find items is really annoying. I mean, really really annoying. I am an Inquisitor, not a submarine.

2. When you do get a ping, actually locating the item is very frustrating.

3. The inventory and crafting UI is unbelievably cumbersome.

Each of us needs to decide for ourselves if the problems with the game make it not worth playing. While I am very disappointed in the lazy carefree approach that was taken for the PC version, I am enjoying the game quite a lot in spite of that. I just hope Bioware/EA doesn't get the wrong message from a post like this - that it is OK to snub PC players.

Here's a question -- why can't we bind extra mouse buttons? Mice with more than 2 buttons have been around for years now, and it seems pretty straightforward to ensure that the game's control scheme is compatible with these staple gaming devices. I just don't understand how you could test things and then release the game without this fairly basic functionality.

yeah, welcome to Frostbite....same thing happens in BF4 anything taller than 6 inches, you have to jump

If that's the case, I don't want any ME game anywhere near this engine.

Ok, so just can't zoom and that's fine? Are you kidding? You can't rebind your controller inputs (of course), so shouldn't there be a way to zoom out with the controller? There are plenty of button combinations that could be used for that. The d-pad is barely ever used, only to switch between characters in shop menus as far as I've seen. Nowhere else is it used. You can't even use it on the menus, which is infuriating, cause you have to flick the stick like an idiot 10 times to scroll down a menu. This is even worse than the kb+m controls, you have to play zoomed in like it's Assassin's Creed, which would be fine if the game showed all the resources and pickups on the minimap like AC does, but no, that would make too much sense, instead you have to blip the sonar like you're a freaking submarine every 5 feet and then scroll the view around from within your zoomed in 40 FoV to locate your stupid blade of grass. Who the hell designed this? Are they insane?

It's not fine. The design is terrible. My issue is that people are acting like it would be no big issue for them to have done it differently. It would have been. It would have been costly. And they should have paid the cost! But we won't have an honest conversation with Bioware about their design when they won't acknowledge the serious issues with the PC UI or when the fan base won't acknowledge the serious amount of work it would take and would have taken to get us the UI we deserve.

Don't confuse my frustration with the fan base rage with any sort of view that the KBM isn't garbage. The only reason I'm not more upset about it is that I was convinced the KBM UI would be terribleness ever since FB3 was announced as the engine.

Agreed. There is also a lot more to game design than taking advantage of the power and hardware of a system.

So you do not consider the keyboard&mouse to be a defining characteristic of the PC?

It seems arbitrary to define TW2 as a PC-lead game in development based solely on engine optimisation while ignoring other aspects such as the GUI, control system and game mechanics. I would say it is at least arguable whether TW2 is a PC-lead game or not, but certainly not ridiculous to claim either.

The essence of our disagreement appears to be our respective definitions of what it means to be a PC-lead game in development. You appear to give more weight to engine optimisation, whereas I give more weight to control system, unless I mistake you?

Personally, for me to consider a game PC-lead it means (but not exclusive to) designing for the native controls of that system, not to mention that this will also tend to affect other key aspects of the game such as the GUI and gameplay. I am no game designer, however it seems to me that the control scheme tends to have a far greater impact on overall gameplay and game design than engine optimisation does. I am wiling to concede that it may be possible to focus on many aspects of optimisation for the PC without necessarily including the keyboard & mouse, because taken as a whole the game might still be considered PC lead despite this (I would not say this is the case for DA:I, nor TW2). However, I would consider this a failure of design, as I assume the ideal goal of multi-platform game development should be to optimise for each platform, without compromises between competing requirements that results in unsatisfactory implementation in one or all platforms. Sure, but compromises are the reality of game design you might say, quite rightly. But then of what worth is being PC-lead as a meaningful statement if it results in sub-optimal or poor implementation for that system? Far better to not make such a claim at all and simply state one is developing for multi-platforms, lest it appear being PC-lead is in fact a bad thing for the PC version.

If DA:I was truly PC-lead by intention [or insert your own definition here] then it was an abysmal failure at doing so to the point of farce (unless one doesn't consider the keyboard&mouse as a definingcharacteristic of the PC).

I think the phrase "PC-led" is vague and meaningless marketing, and certainly not something that one should base their purchase of a game on. I agree with you that the UI is very important to whether something is enjoyable on PC. I wouldn't discount engine optimisation because that's a great deal of the fun on playing on PC, IMO, but I do think they two work in tandem to a great extent.

I used TW2 as an example because its fan base would not accept any suggestion that the game wasn't all about the PC despite a UI design to try and allow CDPR to move units on the 360. My point was simply that Bioware's poor attempts at impressing PC gamers are nothing unusual when compared to other RPG makers and to the extent people are OK with the practice industry wide there's no logic to zeroing in on Bioware.

Let me be clear that this is in no way a legal opinion. This is just random internet speculation on my part and past experience making customer complaints when I got told off plus what I learned reading that article I linked to earlier. I don't even know if there are lawyers who practice in this area but anyone who wants to know about their rights regarding a complaint to the FTC should find an American lawyer to get advice.

In both Origins and DA2, all you had to do was:

Select all.
Select target.
Click on any party member you don't want to perform a basic attack, and...
Select the desired ability/spell for that character.

That's it. So the question becomes, did the DAI QA testers even play DA2 or Origins on PC? I would like to know this.

Alright, I overlooked everything cause bugs in a product are inevitable but random crash to desktop bugs are unnaccaptable. I like to play in windowed mode so that I can do other things like code or read up on stuff. It's not even a ram issue because I have a 16GB which is enough for running multiple applications to occupy the OS program space. Is there a memory leak?

Fix this **** bioware.
