I'm amazed at the number of physical PC-copies sold.

I didn't think any PC-gamer bought the boxes anymore. Granted - I tried, but that was just for sentimental values, since I have the DA:O and DA2 boxes. It failed because I couldn't find it for sale in shops. I then concluded that fate doesn't want me to purchase this thing, at least not now, and rolled with that. Now I'm watching the PC interface situation.

Anyway, if they sold that many PC-boxes, they have made a lot of PC-sales.

I prefer hard copies when I can simply because my internet connection sucks and even the thought of a 25gb download gives me hives. I had to download ME3 (despite buying the disc WTF?!?) and that took like 9hrs... o.O

So unless the digital deals are too good to pass up, I go for disc every time.

ETA : Which of course means I am screwed when it comes to refunds...

So crashing every cutscene, memory leaks that crash my pc every half hour, and general direct x crashes at completely random times is not broken to you?

You sir, are derp.

That's not happening to most PC players, including myself. The game is broken for you, and that's unfortunate, but it's not broken for everyone.

Well, I have not had any of those problems but I've only played an one hour and half. I have an AMD 7850.

I meant to the game design problems, tac cam, k+m, etc

Nevermind...

It's happening to many people, including me. Don't tell us bullshit, please. Don't speak for majority of players, because YOU are NOT the majority. Period.

Have you not had a single DirectX crash? If not, would you mind listing your specs? Thanks!

I'm not the majority of people posting in this thread, but I'd bet all the money in my pockets against all the money in your pockets that my lack of issues is within the majority of PC players. Many =/= Most. That doesn't mean it doesn't suck, because I've had my fair share of CTDs in all kinds of games.

I have had the DirectX crashes, but they stopped when I turned off Ambient Occlusion and switched to borderless windowed mode. My GPU is an nvidia 765M.

I would play Ego Draconis first.

what about beyond and divine?

So there are previous games in the franchise...

Is it very different than the Dragon Age universe?

The likely scenario is that you (we) are going to have to wait till after the first patch.  Then Nvidia and AMD will create drivers based on that build release.  And that process may continue a 2nd or even 3rd time over the next few months.

At least that is how is usually goes with games this size.

what kind of update?

Supposed to be a fixed for the latest games such as far cry 4 and DAI, the update came yesterday in the nvidia notification control center.

I'm sure Allan is hopefully enjoying his weekend. Likely playing DA:I and continuing his "Let's Play" video series of the game.

Although it shouldn't be his role to post at all to try and address these issues, in all honesty, but rather someone else's at Bioware who's job actually entails being a liaison with the fans and their feedback.

I haven't had a single Direct-X crash or any crashes at all but would posting my specs really be of any use? My rig is three years old; no one aspires to own one like it, I don't think.

Among other tedious things, I am checking what different components have in common in order to determine what could be a possible reason for crashes.

It's probably pointless but it will put my mind to rest. Plus, it's not a bad way to pass the time until this abstraction of a patch appears. In other words, the age of your rig is not an issue.

Then I'll be happy to post it a bit later. Do you want just the data my system panel displays or is there a diagnostic suite or program you'd like me to run? Feel free to PM me. Or answer here. I'll check back.

It is pointless.

There's no way to tell why some systems will crash out.  You could have the same exact hardware as another guy, but he could be so overloaded in malware and running background software and not even be aware of it that he will becomes used to his own crashes, while you are aware of the slightest hiccup.

The dxdiag report is fine, if you find the time. Send it to my inbox, to avoid clogging the thread further. And thank you!

Oh, yes. When my grandmother is on edge, she knits. I on the other hand like to pretend I'm actually doing something practical, which sometimes produces results.

So far I've tested three very different rigs and all have the exact same issue. Could indeed be software-related.

I did not have any crash or technical problems. If you are interested my specs are:

GeForce GTX 760 (344.75 drivers)

Intel Core i5 3470 3.20Ghz

8GB RAM

Windows 7 64bits

So far my problems are the same as most people who can play. Keyboard / mouse control and some minor issues. DAI is a great game but these little things sometimes make me rage hard.

I did not activate any AI tactic, I play only with tactical cam and i give all orders. It is annoying due to the camera focusing on the char every time you select him but

well, they said it is a bug, they will fix it I hope. Controls are ok for me since I always controlled camera with WASD on strategy and MOBA games and im used to it. But the camera being a solid object, not going through walls, ladders or being unable to zoom out on caves or buildings is a huge problem. Every time I go into a cave I'm like "oh well, let's end this quick". I don't know who thought that was a good idea.

- Resurrect a companion on tactical cam is a pain in the a**. You will command manually a character to do it, he will move to his target and will stay there doing nothing or will come back to the fight. It is really annoying.

- Sometimes when you select and click on the floor to move a character he will go around a huge area instead of jumping down 1 meter. Your armor is not that heavy Varric, you will be fine c'mon... Pathing needs some work.

- I use Iron bull and sometimes, with fast enemies, I really hate using him, even being for me one of the best characters of dragon age franchise. He goes to his target, trys to attack, target moves, he misses or cancels animation. Repeat again. Ok, it must be realistic, fast enemies won't stay quiet to get smashed by a giant axe. But this happens even with dragons. You target their legs, and Bull is constantly trying to attack but if the dragon moves a little bit he cancels the animation. Your weapon is larger than you man, you have range, kill him damn.

- Camera angle sometimes is really bad. If you have to target something higher than you, you can't do it with the max zoom out cause the camera can't climb. So you have to zoom in, move the camera down and find your target. Sometimes, if the enemy is near you, you just can't target him. It happened to me fighting Hinterland's dragon with the babys coming from the mountain.

- Mount controls are really bad in my opinion. Not responsive and really bugged. You can get stuck on a tiny rock or in a door which has enough height to fit.

Anyway, even with these things I'm enjoying the game to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I think they tricked us with the "PC game to pc players" stuff, and this will be the last game I buy from Bioware if they don't fix it soon, but is really fun. That's what bothers me more, that it could be a 10/10 game. 90 hours and i think I completed like 50% of the main story. With good controls that would be awesome.

Is it very different than the Dragon Age universe?

Thats what Im trying to figure out.

Theres Divine, Beyond, II, Dragon Commander and then Original Sin.. I googled the release dates for them and it seems to go like this:

Divine - Sept 2002

II (Which I think is Ego Draconis) - Oct 2002

Beyond - April 2004

Dragon Commander - August 2013

Origin Sin - Now

But I wanted to get a confirmation before I started anything..

I returned the game but didn't have any crashes in the 5 hours I had played.

AMD8350
8gb ram
R9 270X 2gb
Win7. - on SSD
Game is on another dedicated SSD

My PC is pristine as far as processes running... Only have 10 processes running when steam or origin are closed.

"Feedback on keyboard and mouse controls
General user interface optimizations for PC"

Mr. Darrah,

Please forgive my incredulity about your concerns regarding the above quoted statement. Your development teams and internal game testers are, I'm sure, familiar with DAO and DA2 PC controls and user interface. When DAI was internally tested were you not informed about the DAI shortcomings regarding the following:
1. Non DAO/DA2 PC keyboard and mouse controls with potential negative fan feedback
2. poor Tactical Camera and tactics in general (removal of tac list)
3. necessity for tactical micromanagement at higher levels ( were you thinking of X-COM ?)
4. dumb AI controlling ranged characters as if they were melee warriors
5. Miniscule fonts
6. removal of key mouse binding (a staple of previous games)
7 many other deficiencies

QA testing discovered nothing?

I do appreciate your confirmation that a patch(s) is underway. It is sorely needed. However, monitoring our concerns is not the answer, fixing the problems is what we need.

Look, I love exploring the countryside. Immersion comes easy, the game world large. Bioware artists did a fantastic job creating abandoned fortresses and castles and ruins... really awesome visuals and I thank them for their hard work. Your artists did their job and more.

Unfortunately, the game was sold to us unpolished, incomplete, buggy from mild to severe, with questionable design choices and user interface. These issues overshadow an otherwise awesome game.

I look forward to an improved game from your patches.

Well if you wanted to treat this as a half-glass full affair... at  least those whom are able to somewhat play the game will have a #@$#@$ load of Elf Root, Deep Mushroom, Ebrium, and Iron to last you  7 Blights....

...not to mention a heap of useless rings that do  2% ect...

That's not happening to most PC players, including myself. The game is broken for you, and that's unfortunate, but it's not broken for everyone.

I suggest you stronly to check the technical support forum because the last time I checked it was pas 145+ pages of bugs reports.

So please don't assume stuff before checking just because you don"t have any problems, ok ? ^_______^
