EA does not care about gamers, EA cares about numbers....

PlayStation 4 with sales of 466,347 units

Xbox One version sold 229,337 units

PC version sold 176,731 units

Xbox 360 version sold 136,113 units

PlayStation 3 version sold 127,757 units

http://www.vgchartz....ne-x360-ps3-pc/

lets do the math. if only1 in 100 players with problems complains in the forums and lets estimate here are 300 people complaining about the game (assumed everyone is a pc user) thats still only 30000. the game sold alone 176000 boxes, digital not counted. who said the MAJORITY have problems with the game? :D

Because it was originally only developed for PC.  Then got pushed back to come to consoles, if I remember correctly.

Where as this title was more focused for consoles, in regards to certain aspects (which is fine), but that doesn't excuse a poorly optimized port.

doesnt matter. origins didnt have to dumped down for consoles, so you can develop a game like origins on consoles and pc without problems (to be fair, origin was never soooo deep and complex and pc friendly), so thats not the reason da:i is what da:i is. things like "you should play it as an action game too" and "nah dont do a special ui for m&kb, lets make something we can advertise" had way more impact than the development for consoles.

and the controls are overall pretty fast adapted, so i believe the QA that after a while they didnt see a greater problem with it. play for months with these controls and you will wonder what everybody means with "clunky" ;)

I did not have any crash or technical problems. If you are interested my specs are:

GeForce GTX 760 (344.75 drivers)

Intel Core i5 3470 3.20Ghz

8GB RAM

Windows 7 64bits

So far my problems are the same as most people who can play. Keyboard / mouse control and some minor issues. DAI is a great game but these little things sometimes make me rage hard.

I was actually just lurking and not really planning to post, but since your specs are pretty close to mine (everything the same except for my i5 4690), I got a bit curious: did you by any chance get any crashes on cutscenes? Because I did. Strange thing, though, it seems that lowering my texture quality from Ultra to High made those crashes go away, even though on Ultra the game NEVER made full use of the available VRAM (and gpu usage seems pretty much the same no matter what texture quality I pick) - curiously messing AO and post-processing doesn't seem to have done anything to fix it either, it might've made it less frequent but I can't be sure.

Also curious if you've had massive framerate drops in specific places like a few areas of Skyhold or Redcliffe, since it happens to me. It gets as low as 20 when looking at some spots, I got used to avoiding looking in those directions when I'm there but it's still annoying. Weird thing is, I though it could be pushing my gpu too far, so I lowered pretty much every setting and found out to my dismay that it remained with the same bullcrap framerate in those particular spots despite my gpu usage now not going higher that about 60-65% (gotta remind myself to check processor usage too next time, just in case).

Additionally I think I might be a victim of the infamous banter\music glitch, considering how eerilly quiet the game is on most of the bigger zones. That's not as big of an issue as the framerate drops or crashes, but it still annoys me to no end.

That's not happening to most PC players, including myself. The game is broken for you, and that's unfortunate, but it's not broken for everyone.

Hush. Just because it's not happening to you or a majority of the players doesn't mean it;s not happening to MANY people who have equipment that's way better than the recommended requirements Bioware has set.

Stop being a fanboy and realize that this game is unstable for hundreds of people.

This is the thing that bugs me about the game.  The gameplay itself runs so smooth, so I don't understand the frame rate and stuttering issue when cutscenes/dialogue is happening.  I'm really hoping it's just poor optimization on their part because I've seen people post on here with specs that should run the game on higher settings with minor to no issues at best, that are getting the same results as someone with outdated/older hardware.

hey nobody said its ok some people cant play. but when dramaqueens always throw overstatements like majority around its only fair to bring in a little reality. every single one that cant play has really my sympathy and i understand the anger, but to people that just because of frustration are loosing every sense of reality (which make the frustration even worth) i say just.....grow up

Can we please add extra ability slot bars?

Maybe use an "Alt 1" "Alt 2" or something similar to access more bars during combat.

Too limited at the moment with only 8 slots!!!

If you can't create a good build with 8 abilities then I'm not sure what you're doing.

I'm sorry to hear that, I had 0 crashes. I have all my setting on ultra (Textures on fade touched), turned off post processing AA, multisampling AA and ambient occlusion. I have +40 fps constantly but in some areas it drops as you say, but never below 30fps. First campsite of Hinterlands (really weird), Skyhold outdoor areas and some particular places, but in general it works fine.

I hope it helps, good luck.

Heh, I actually thought that being limited to 8 skills was the only downside to playing with a controller, until I noticed that the UI for kb\m was like that too. Now I regret nothing. :P
Seriously though, makes sense, if there was a more advantageous control type (in terms of stuff that you can do, not how well thought out it is - we all know the kb\m controls could work better) people would feel "forced" to use it in the multiplayer.

Limiting to 8 ability slots was a conscious decision to make planning ahead more important. They won't increase it.

Ok then, gotta start looking at the possibility of it being some kind of problem with other software I might have, I guess.
It really is weird, especially considering I get like 80fps in a most places (some of them even on the same maps where the drops occur), and in some rare spots I actually get more than 100fps if I don't purposely cap it.

It's far easier for Blizzard to do this given their revenue stream. Proportionally it would be like Bioware giving every gamer back $1.

Not to mention the fact that blizzard uses 12 year old technology and effort, recycles old game sounds, textures, animations, graphics and gameplay from 2001 and charges 2014 prices for it. If I only had to pay 2.00 to make enough lemonade for 500 people but sold it for 250.00 a cup I'd probably fix issues with it too. If Blizzard doesn't then their fanboys might get suspicious and actually realize that every single game the company releases is a massive rip-off.

I suggest you stronly to check the technical support forum because the last time I checked it was pas 145+ pages of bugs reports.

So please don't assume stuff before checking just because you don"t have any problems, ok ? ^_______^

I am one of the people who posted in the Tech Support forum thread so please also don't assume stuff. Okay?

I think that you should realize that, seriously, most players is not the same thing as many players. I'm not disputing that many people are having problems. I'm arguing that the game is not literally unplayable for most PC gamers, which was the entire point. (And I don't mean literally in its new-timey "figurative" sense, I mean it in its old-timey "literal" sense.)

I'm just saying that extrapolating your issue (or an issue) to make it everyone's issue is not constructive. There are a lot of posters in this thread who simply are refusing to play the game because they don't like what they've heard about the controls, and some of those people are calling the game "unplayable" which is a disservice to the people who literally cannot play the game.

what about beyond and divine?

Divine never really grabbed me I would not recommend it but it does come before Ego.

Beyond Divinity is the next in the series, more of a large stand-alone expansion really.

Divinity 2 (Ego Draconis) is epically awesome.

Divinity Original Sin is a prequal to Divine Divinity and is a squad turn-based RPG in the style of Baldurs Gate (very different from the previous games) but its ok, I have shelved it for now.

The ui is an inconvenience one can get used to.
The DirectX Cutscene/Wartable crashes are making the game unplayable.

Oh, not everyone has crashes indeed. Because otherwise the game would have rating close to 0 on metacritic.

But everyone has quests and scripts bugs, because it is the same game after all. They just either don't care (it's just a game after all) or get used to it.

But it doesn't make the game free from bugs, and it doesn't make bioware good guys.

Is it possible Bioware keeps silent because of coming awards night - 5th of December?

They are going to win some because of so many 10s from Pro game reviewers who succumbed to Corruption.

This is a great post. There were so many signs, but I still do not believe what I am seeing/reading about on a daily basis.

I never would have believed Bioware could screw this up so badly.

I had faith their QA dept. would not approve a PC control scheme so poorly designed.

I had faith their testers would have some respect for the 1st two games in the series, and at certin pts use parts of their ui's.

I had faith their testers would be individuals who actually played the 1st two games and were familiar with them on PC.

This was a blindside.

I don't want to say I told you so, but I told you so back during all of those PC UI threads. I expected what we got ever since (1) we saw the twitch PC video that showed the silly circle in tactical mode and (2) we had confirmation that auto-attack wasn't the default in "action" mode.

That said, I made my peace long before the release of DAI that I would be playing it on gamepad and on casual for the foreseeable future. It's strange to say but to me Bioware acknowledging at least in theory all is not right in KBM town is a huge step forward.

The last response on these forums seen addressing this was on Tuesday, November 25 (five days ago) in this post:

"We are doing our best to address these issues and concerns. Please understand that fixing and implementing these things takes time, as all things do. Until the patches are finalized, I'm afraid it would be a disservice to both the community and our developers if I were to provide incomplete information. Our team is hard at work as we speak, and we will provide an update once we have finalized information."

Translation:
"I am unable to respond, or I am unwilling to respond. Further demands on information will get you nothing. On this matter, there is nothing more to be said."

Incidentally, that was also that BioWare employee's final response in the this thread. The significance of the silence is left as an exercise to the reader.

That is absolutely the opposite of what that statement said. It's difficult to come up with a bug fix and at this point Bioware had to detemime (1) what resources they have available and (2) what is achievable with those resources before they can go forward and be specific about any potential fixes. In all likelihood, they won't say anything until they release a patch to avoid people accusing them of misleading them (again).

Pretty much what a PC ui should look like, but that's too much work now that the game is out. Not even sure if frostbite would allow such a thing. They should have slapped the .lua UI from swtor and called it a day, would have covered at least 90% of the actual shitstorm...

Saying that a grid UI is a true PC UI is going too far. We can all agree that DAI has a bad UI without getting into a war about what a good RPG UI is like.

I'm amazed at the number of physical PC-copies sold.
I didn't think any PC-gamer bought the boxes anymore. Granted - I tried, but that was just for sentimental values, since I have the DA:O and DA2 boxes. It failed because I couldn't find it for sale in shops. I then concluded that fate doesn't want me to purchase this thing, at least not now, and rolled with that. Now I'm watching the PC interface situation.

Anyway, if they sold that many PC-boxes, they have made a lot of PC-sales.

Yeah, it would have to be at least Xb1 level sales, if not between the Xb1 and PS3.
