Yes! Btw, good job on posting here. I've been lurking on this forum since I decided to wait for a patch (about 3 hours into the game) and I agree to the vast majority of your posts. I was out of town and pretty much disconnected from the internet over the long weekend, and seeing no posts from Bioware was what made me create a username and share my sentiments.

I know this post does not belong here, but I've been hovering over the CheatEngine site since I saw the post about the camera zoom cheat and they created a working item editor. Pretty basic so far, but functional. Shows what you can do if you have the will.

Should you have played Witcher 1 first or has W2 a standalone story?

They are both standalone stories and they both complement each other (a bit like the DA games, but these are more like different "arcs" of the same story, despite each standing well on its own). Judging from the name the third will finalize a plot that has been in the background but still very present in both its predecessors.
So yeah, you can very well play one without playing the other - especially if you don't like the gameplay on one of them, since they're very different on that particular aspect - but I'd argue the experience is better if you play both.

(apologies for the off-topic, btw)

I think so, yes.  The 2 follow a distinct narrative that revolves around Geralt and his journey.

Thats what Im trying to figure out.

Theres Divine, Beyond, II, Dragon Commander and then Original Sin.. I googled the release dates for them and it seems to go like this:

Divine - Sept 2002

II (Which I think is Ego Draconis) - Oct 2002

Beyond - April 2004

Dragon Commander - August 2013

Origin Sin - Now

But I wanted to get a confirmation before I started anything..

Divine is first

Ego Draconis is 2nd and the best

Beyond is a large expansion for Ego and adds a lot of content but some changes suck (like the armor locations are moved)

Dragon Commander is a RTS (Real Time Strat) like Star/Warcraft with Hero (dragon) units

Original Sin is a old school top down RPG like Baldurs Gate but it is turn based combat like Fallout1

My opinion -

Divine sucks

Ego Rocks (beyond is kinda worth it)

Dragon Commander sucks

Original Sin is ok but don't think of it as part of the franchise (It is a prequel taking place before Divine)

I saw the very first 5 mins of today streaming (Exploring Hidden Places), the guy that demoed nearly all the other demoes (I can't recall his name), said this about the patch:

Patch 1: finalizing

Patch 2: Q&A

Patch3: working on It

Let's hope finalizing means very soon ;)

Where did you see this exactly?

Regardless of how useful the tool they create now is, this is a very good sign that modding will at least have some groundwork at this early stage.

Well you have something messed up here:)

Divine Divinity 2002

Beyond Divinity 2004

Divinity 2 Ego Draconis + expansion Flames of Vengeance 2009,2010

( Or Divinity 2 Dragon knight saga which includes expansion already with newest fixes and patches becouse original game was amazingly bugged)

Dragon Commander 2013

Original SIn 2014

That is the correct order. And if you were in love in classic rpg and Diablo 1 gameplay you will love Divine Divinity the most, if you rather modern gamer probably Ego Draconis will be your liking.

And if you love multi you will love to play some coop in Original Sin couse the fun is just amazing.

As earlier poster mentioned, there is a patch mention from the "Exploring Hidden Places" screencast (http://www.twitch.tv...are/b/594664423). The player/host references three patches. The first patch was apparently released at launch, the second patch is in QA, and work on a third patch has begun. The host also encourages people to continue providing feedback to the @dragonage on Twitter and the forums (here) and states, "We'll keep supporting the game, we'll keep improving it."

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Well you have something wrong here couse BEYOND is the expansion for divine and after that they made Ego draconis (2004). And in my opinion Divine is the best:) depends how old the gamer is probably:). If you lived in Diablo 1 and classic RPG times you will like far more first divine than ego draconis.

every single one of them has this unique sense of humour, Baldur's Gate meets Terry Pratchett. and quests in which you cannot predict the outcome.

DD was pretty much hack and slash, while i normally detest that kind of games, this one was brilliant (gameplay, combat, quests, even easter eggs); BD - this one i've never finished; D:ED - amazing ending for an average tpp slasher (if you like Morrowind clones, that one is something like this); D:OS - best game i've ever played, i played it only in co-op with my husband, finished the story 5 times. make sure you're always carrying few oil barrels in the pocket to fireball them and enemies around you... and heal yourself in the process ;)

Sorry, not following your point. He mentions a first patch and says, "Patch one came out on day one." Then he mentions "patch number two" which is being finalized and going through QA.

"We're in the final stages of patch number two. Patch one came out on day one. Patch number two has got a whole bunch of fixes, and tweaks, and things like that."

OK.....  so this information is being casually mentioned (for the first time) on a post-release "Let's Play" Twitch stream focusing on content, instead of on Bioware's official messageboard in a 150 page thread they started and in which we are all begging for any kind of comment on patches?

Yea, WTF

Yeah, what?

The next thing is that some Let's Player will mentioned the exact date the Patch will drop.

What about Dragon Commander? Surely it's not really an RPG but is it recommended?

I don't know your tastes so I don't know if I should recommend it to you or not. I enjoyed it personally and thought it was a pretty damn fun game. It's quite the interesting mish-mash of a few genres (RTS/RPG/Boardgame). If you're interested, the following trailers will give you a better idea of what the game's like than I could, they're really well done (no CGI bollocks, lots of actual gameplay and narrated explanations of what the game is about - because Larian knew it would be difficult to sell such an unusual hybrid concept).

My main pros were:

+ Awesome, often hilarious dialogue (brilliant voice acting) and extensive decision-making (that matters) on-board your ship.

+ Pretty damn fun to fly around as a dragon roasting enemy armies in the RTS battles.

Main cons:

- Too easy once you know what you're doing, even on the highest difficulty.

- RTS gameplay was too shallow to be the sort of RTS you can replay over and over and over. It held up ok and was fun for one playthrough, but I had little desire to play it again because the depth just isn't there (which is a shame because the RPG elements/ship-interactions are quite deep and have good potential for different playthroughs).

2 minute 'what is' DC trailer - https://www.youtube....h?v=_9lbrq3BLQU

5 minute in depth launch trailer - https://www.youtube....h?v=LvnLAimI9PQ

You'll have to recommend it to yourself or not  ;)

I'm not a moderator or anything and don't want to be a douche but please stay on topic. This thread has enough posts as it is and for people to begin talking about other games as well is just gonna make it even harder to make out what is what. So please stick with DA:I related suggestions and concerns as the thread was intended to.

What I mainly want is to have the frame-rate in the cutscenes that I get during the normal gameplay.

What Cameron specifically said was, "We've got a patch in the works, we're in the final stages of testing it.  It's across all the five platforms.  We've already started on the following patch as well.  QA is busy working on patch 2, and the Team is busy working on patch 3"

So what he means is there will be at least 3 patches from this point forward.  And they go from starting, to QA, to final testing.  "The Team" is likely referring to the main programming team that begins writing the code for the patches, differentiating it from the QA (Quality Assurance) team, and the final testing team (which likely adds another layer of QA and deals with hardware configs for pc edit:  and also probably provides compatibility for the various console versions)

Danoniero's estimate sounds about right.  Couple more days for the first one.

I think it's just that without any communication from Bioware there is not really much left to say that hasn't already been said. Yet people are still very much invested in the concerns of the thread and feel the need to vent or express themselves, or complain about venting/hyperbole and so on... This thread has been way all over the place for quite a while. Personally I don't mind a bit of off-topic stuff in this situation because it lightens the mood and helps keep things in perspective. I appreciate your objection though and wouldn't want to keep posting off-topic stuff.

Just trying to be helpful by answering folks' questions *puppy face*
