Please explain to me in words of 1 or 2 syllables, why BW staff are posting on other sites about patches, etc and no-one posts here?

Are we missing something? Is The Bioware Forum not the place to get response? Or is it a place to pull all the uncomfortable comments out of sight?

Who the hell reads this stuff other than us? Is the correct vehicle for getting noticed by BW/EA?

Darrah initiated this thread then proceeded to disappear from view. I do not know why it seems to be of no use.

Just wondering. Feel like a mushroom. Kept in the dark and covered in bullshit!!

This is the exact same feeling I am getting from this forum.

So now that the anti-tamper software has been defeated, we could start patching the program to solve some of the tactical combat and PC control issues. I'd be interested in correcting the problems via mods (third-party patches, really) if this first wave of patches doesn't fix those issues.

Maybe they hate their job? I mean, they make more and more unplayable and casual games; they don't want to make patches for those games, etc. And this forum is a part of their job too, so they hate it just as much, and rather post on any other forum than here.

I'm surprised there are no news about patches for DAI on valve or blizzard forums, lol.

Wait, is this true? Modding is now possible for DA:I? I'd been hearing that with Denuvo and the inherent issues with Frostbite, modding will be impossible. How did this happen?

Which specific parts of DAO/DA2 UI/controls? (apologies I caught up on the thread VERY quickly so issues are blurred together and I'm looking at some other threads at the same time).

I played both DAO and DA2 primarily with WASD controls. On DAI I tend to do my typical rebinds (R becomes interact, I set F to attack) and Q/E are swapped with A/D (a change I've been making as far back as KOTOR).  I also put search on 'X.'  In explore mode, on a personal level, I don't find the game plays all that differently.  Though I can certainly understand some complaints with respect to the loot radius and the search pulse and things like that.  I also think feedback such as mousewheel not swapping from action/tactical mode (as well as mouse rebinds) are reasonable things for fans to bring up, for sure.  But I'm also speaking as someone that went through the various iterations of M&KB controls.

I imagine you're in the camp for things such as "Press interact should move the player to the interactable/auto attack" and things like that?  Probably click to move outside of tactical camera mode?  I know it's actually unpleasant to have to regurgitate this after likely already stating it, but I'm also spending the evening helping investigate the banter issue and am posting mostly from my phone for this.

such unbelievably blatant lies

I cannot zoom out as much as in DAO and DA2. I cannot see the entire battlefield and make proper choices

I cannot select a box and drag for  my party members like in DAO and DA2 for group micro

the Topdown Camera angle is super awkward, and at max zoom, which is looking completely down is the ONLY angle I can look at in pause function.

when I go back to real time, I cannot look from the top zoom like I could in DAO and DA2, completely ruining the entire point of real time party micro, because I cannot see from the top down my actions unfolding in REAL TIME.

Look, we aren't stupid. We understand development cycles and EA's policies of rushing to meet the holiday season period. Just admit to us that Dragon Age Inquisition was not built from the ground up with a UI developed specifically for PCs, and that you ported a console control set. We can UNDERSTAND and accept that, and will patiently wait for better PC optimization.

blatantly lying however, is just disrespecting your customers

I am not sure that modding will be possible in a traditional sense.

FB3 is very hard to work with even for those who know how to do it and have required tools (from what i understood).

There are hacks using Cheat Engine (camera, healing etc) but those are just that, cheats not mods.

Then fact that Denuvo has been cured means that people who dont have enough money or are unwilling to pay for it can give it a go.

Just to be clear there are no cracks for DA:I, Lords Of The Fallen and Fifa 15 atm.

It won't be easy, but Denuvo has been reversed and apparently can be bypassed. I haven't read details yet, but there's an announcement here (ht Brogan): http://www.dsogaming...s-been-cracked/

People have found ways to use Cheat Engine to modify camera zoom and character hair. With Denuvo removed, we can actually patch the program and resource files rather than use Cheat Engine to modify the running game process. It's going to take a decent bit of research to change something significant without breaking anything else, but the initial work is being done now.

Praise the maker, it seems Bioware announced in their stream yesterday that 3 patches are in the way : LINK

though, I would've expected them to post this little info here.

BTW, except for the opening mission, has anyone actually needed to jump in the game?

It`s actually a godsent: Several maps with vertical designs. You can save a lot of time by simply jumping over an obstacle to get to a lower region, instead of walking freaking miles around it (and trust me several maps are enormous). And a lot of hidden collectibles, items, too, which requires jumping (or where jumping helps a lot)

This.  I know it was a holiday weekend (for the US...not Canada though...) but come on, EA chose when to release the game, just because you released it a week before Thanksgiving does not mean you should just take the week off after release.  Putting updates on Twitter and other places, and ignoring your official forums is weak sauce.

WHAT?!
Nvm.
So, it seems that i'm gonna crack the game i BOUGHT, just to make it more stable, and for extra HDD safety. Dear BioWare, would you kindly consider DRM removal since it's useless now? Why not be the GoodGuys once in a while, like CDProject?

Yes, well, Inquisition was "on the way" in 2013....although I am inclined to think the patch(s) will be along sooner, rather than this time next year.

When they tested this game didn't anyone try it with a keyboard & mouse, or is everybody playing using a controller nowdays?

This is like a slap in the face for any PC Gamer that bought this game.

Yes. There are some things you simply can't get to without jumping. but you don't have to jump if you don't want to.

Figured I'd post just since this thread is already here.

Not a fan of the PC controls. I'm still enjoying the game, and it's far from a deal breaker, but I'm 50 hours in and I'm still standing next to chests, right clicking, and waiting... waiting... waiting... Oh yeah!

I'm just more annoyed by the two major pieces of cut content that BW constantly advertised in trailers that are still on the main DA channel run by BW on YouTube.

Remember that Siege of Crestwood? The one that required you to choose between saving Crestwood from the Red Templars but sacrificing the Inquisition's holding(s), or save the Keep but lose Crestwood? Or how about being able to trick out your captured forts between three different upgrades (Military, Intelligence, and Trade Outposts)? These were core gameplay elements that were heavily advertised in various E3/Gamescom footage. Especially the fort upgrade feature. And it was supposed to have a huge impact on the territory that you captured a fort in. They still have videos/trailers up on YouTube showing this stuff. Up to August we were being told that the fort upgrade feature was going to be in the game.

We were told there would be no cut content from the final release of the product. What we saw, we were going to get. What the Hell happened? They held the game back for a year, and we have less content now? So what? The thousands of generic, fetch quests were okay. But the Siege of Crestwood, and the Fort Upgrade mechanic was simply too much?

To get back on topic however, the Tactical Camera needs to be drawn farther back (it's way too close to the ground) so it's actually useful most of the time. Additionally, the PC's UI is awful/very controller-oriented. You'd figure we would get more Hotkeys, but nope. Just the measly eight that the consoles use due to button-mapping limitations. PC players are actually being relegated to a controller's limitations because BW didn't feel it was necessary to expand/develop a decent PC UI. All of this nonsense just feels insulting.

Will a patch fix either of these two glaring issues? I doubt it. As these things are hard-coded into the base game. We might see these "patched" through an expansion DLC. But as it is now, I don't think DA:I is getting legitimate expansion content, let alone patches that fix the two most glaring issues that everyone is complaining about. Additionally, BW has a history of not fixing glaring issues/extremely buggy content. Just look at the ME series, and past DA games.

This is what annoys me the most, the PC version being limited because of console based design. Origins did not have these issues because it was a PC game, later ported to console.

Don't get me wrong, I love the DA/ME series. Put countless hundreds of hours into DA:O, and I'll probably put more into DA:I. Put in thousands of hours into the ME games.

But DA:I just... feels unfinished. It kind of feels like DA2 did in that regard. Hell, the cut content alone is proof of that. And what happened to that over-the-shoulder camera perspective? That looked great/way better than the current centered-perspective. What happened to all this stuff? How does a company advertise all these features leading up to the game's release, and then pull the rug out from underneath everyone? As it is, DA:I is a fun game. But I always find myself constantly annoyed by the removal of all these features that we were told were going to be in the final product; only to have it replaced by hundreds of inane fetch quests. Hell, the game is only 100+ hours because of the empty (yet pretty) wilderness you explore, and the absurd amount of fetch quests that drive us completionists insane.

i'm sure they wanted to include this content, but were unable for some reason: they had prototype which wasn't ready for something else than marketing purposes, developers had ideas but resources, people who actually do something concrete: something else than having visions, were needed elsewhere, deadline couldn't be moved and so on...

so they cut it, focused on something less time consuming or something that could postpone the release date - which was unacceptable for the publisher

I never understood why companies waste money on programs that only work for small periods of time.

And Bioware had better hope to hell the SSD claims are proven false...

There's no reason to guess how much a process writes to your disk. You can monitor disk usage by process using task manager. In windows 8, click on the details tab and right click (god I hate RMB hidden menus) the columns at the top (the place with the things like PID and CPU.) Click add columns, add the I/O write bytes column. I think this is all under the processes tab in windows 7, sorry I don't have my laptop with me to check.

This will show you the cumulative writes to disk of every process on your system, so you'll see exactly how much any and every process has written during its lifetime. You might need to run task manager as administrator to make sure you see everything. You can also use better tools like process monitor which you can download here or run live from explorer from http://live.sysinter...com/Procmon.exe.
