Honestly I rarely make a complaint against any game but with most of the complaints with combat tactical system I totally agree really it is chronically bad along with just the most clunky UI (inventory etc. ). I have had experience points disappear just because I clicked on an ability to see what it did and go to back out and hey ability points gone! That is just one small issue I can work around but having been a huge fan of DAO and DA2 (to lesser degree) the combat where as many people have spent so many enjoyment hours in tactical combat and then to come across this rubbish of a combat system (Started as a Rogue) just complete and utter frustration.  You should take a leaf from Shadow Of Mordor where the game just ran really smooth and combat is just fun (that is the main aim for most gamers to have fun and enjoyment and not spend insane amount of hours of frustration to do a simple task or fight an enemy) I have not known one game I and many others have played from Crysis, Skyrim, FarCry, DAO & 2, Shadow of Mordor and many others that have delivered such an ill thought out presentation of a PC Game combat system.

BW & EA I hope you pay attention besides myself there many others who feel a bit ripped off (possibly insulted as I bought the hype of what we could expect) and the end result will be loss of revenue in your pockets, I cant even think how the combat system will be any good even on consoles it is just lame.

Opps didn't mean to rant, however on positive side I have not had any crashing or serious graphic card issues (Win 7 64 8 gig ram, EVGA 750 gtx ti 2 gig just had to update drivers) the game looks great (exception of shiny plastic hair I hope it just a setting) love seeing the graphic effects wind, snow etc.

Well I am off to start a new game again (read comment here try as Mage or Archer could just be playable) I started as Rogue first time and having one on one combat with a Templar with large shield I could not run fast enough and had opt out of range of combat zone (lots of running) so I could eventually get into inventory to switch to a bow there I go again.

Please Bioware address these issues as many people are experiencing the same thing, I will see how I go on new attempt (I wont be using the Keep until it is out of Beta or Alpha) and have a bit of fun as I want to seriously play this game or I think I will just play with one of my other titles (that provide enjoyment) and delete this one.

Two questions:

1.)  Do we know which NVidia cards are impacted?

2.)  Will the solution be announced by NVidia, BW, or both?

I'd like to have a patch which allow me to play with my Dual Core PC !!! Thanks beforehand !

Maybe that's part of my problem,  8 cores?    Sorry not going to dismantle my PC, because Bioware didn't optimize for PC setups.

No no no. We heard from Mark Darrah within a day. They're working on it. Let them work and let management get back to us.

With the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, we've been hearing a number of concerns from members of our PC community, including:

  • Driver support
  • Hitching and frame rate issues in cutscenes
  • Feedback on keyboard and mouse controls
  • General user interface optimizations for PC

Here's my feedback, such as it is:

1.  The game slows down a lot over time on my PC, particularly if I've been doing a lot of menu switching (which is basically required if you're going to do any crafting).  It'd be nice if the PC version had a better interface where you weren't FORCED to, say, page through every. single. one. of your companions to equip gear.  For KB+M it's much faster (and more efficient on the computer memory) to be able to just pick from a list rather than scroll one at a time.

2.  I HATE the tactical cam.  HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE.  Not in principle--pinpoint control is great (and necessary in some fights).  What I hate is how it WORKS.  I hate how when I'm just running along and I decide to try and scroll out the view a little bit something like 9/10ths of the time I go too far and hear this loud WHOM noise and boom, I'm in tac cam (and since I was, you know, running at the time, I've scrolled myself off into who-knows-where).  It's annoying considering there's a dedicated button (T) JUST FOR SWITCH TO TAC CAM.  I also cannot DESCRIBE how much I hate that the default view is "nearly straight down", since you can't see ANYTHING from that angle in most fights.  I also hate how you can, at best, only look straight across the battlefield, you can NEVER turn the camera so that you can look UPWARD while you're in tac cam.  This made that fight with the @#$@## high dragon in the Hinterlands a SPECTACULAR pain in my rear end because the dragon likes to land on top of hills and you can't see where she is or what she's doing while you're in tactical camera but if you switch back to normal mode your party stops following all those "go here" and "hold position" and "DON'T STAND IN THE FIRE YOU IDIOT" commands you gave them two seconds ago.  Why does switching modes cancel all your commands?!  All right, there's probably a limit to how much you can improve this at this point, but heck, I'd kill just to be able to look UP and ZOOM OUT MORE so I CAN SEE WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON.  It's such a paradox that I can only see what's going on in normal mode but I can't give the instructions I need people to follow in that mode, but when I switch to the mode where I can get people to do what I need, I get so disoriented I give them the wrong instructions ANYWAY.  Good god I cussed so much when it came time to try and babysit my party up the hill to finish her off.  If I go up in normal mode, everyone gets stuck halfway up and the dragon breathes on them and kills them.  If I go up in tac cam I can't see where I'm going (because it's UP A HILL and YOU CAN'T LOOK UP).  And god forbid you accidentally switch out of tac cam while you're trying to keep your ranged people at max distance so they don't get sucked in and killed, because they instantly rubber-band across the battlefield . . . but they won't automatically rubber-band up the hill when that'd actually be USEFUL.

I also hate that when I switch character views with the tac cam it zooms way way in on them instead of preserving my view angle and distance, so if I'm, say, trying to move all of my ranged people to one point so I can barrier them while they shoot away at, say, the high dragon, I have to click on each one, then tediously zoom the camera back out so I can see the spot where I want them to go and tell them to go to it.  This is silly, since the tactical cam makes it so that the camera is not attached to your selected character--you can pan it around (fairly) freely (apart from not being able to look up or zoom out nearly enough).  So why does selecting a different character move the camera?  Madness.  Changing this would also make it easier to TELL when you're IN tactical mode.  The entire game functions differently and it's REALLY hard to keep making that mental switch between "I'm in normal control, I need to hold down the attack button to keep attacking and move with WASD" to "I'm in tactical mode, I need to click on the ground to move and the attack button basically doesn't do anything".  The camera changing when I switch characters almost always fools me into making me think I switched out of tac mode and back into normal mode, so I almost always screw up.  It's annoying.

I also dislike that I can't select more than one person at a time.  I mean, if I want my ranged people to all stand in a little cluster, why can't I select all of them and tell them "go to this spot" instead of having to do it one at a time?!  That's also annoying.

3.  The PC interface for equipping, crafting, and modifying gear is a big pile of poo.  These shouldn't all be separate menus, particularly since they have a tendency to suck down your RAM like a $.99 margarita.  Also I should be able to compare the stats of the gear I'm proposing to craft with a character's *existing* gear!  If I have to go get a pad of *paper* (WHICH I DID) in order to figure out what I want to craft, your menus SUCK.

But APART FROM THAT (which was only super-bad for me in that one fight with the Hilltop Dragon nonsense, but I'm playing on NORMAL and I actually turned it down to CASUAL for that fight), I'm doing okay.  The annoyances are (mostly) minor.  I AM having tons of fun.  I just think I could be having MORE fun (and not so much cussing).

Just get PC DA:O UI and camera copy it into Inquistion and you will eliminate every PC users concerns with the game, well with the UI at least.

Boggles the mind, talk about fixing something that wasn't broken.

Sad, but has got to the point were you cannot trust any game developer, regardless of their reputation.  The new protocol is 'Lie and you make more money.  Speak the truth and you make less'

Alright,  I seem to have fixed my problem,  no longer getting the Direct X 10 error ( I have direct x 11).    Did some fiddling here and there,  reinstalled video driver manually by choosing it out of the download file.    After that I made sure anything related to Inquisition,  Origins etc,   I clicked  "run as administrator" ...this worked.

I can now get in,  my mouse cursor is a gold colour,  music plays and I see soldiers marching down a hill in front of me.    Been installing uninstalling drivers...something worked.

Tomorrow let's see if this game runs for me.     Under options there are all kinds of ways to optimize the game to your tastes, including making the space bar do what you want, ...it seems more user friendly than people were saying.   I'll know tomorrow whether these things work.    And by the way,  I am not going to ask for the refund,  was very disappointed ..yesterday.   I think if I muck about in the Options panel,  I should be able to play the game my way,  it even gives you an option to set the camera up the way you want.      As yet  I haven't seen if all these functions work as they should.    Too tired.

Will test this out tomorrow.    The main thing for me was I couldn't even get the first screen or cinema going.     That's working now.     Feeling a little more positive,   hoping this game feels more like DA:O....didn't like DA:2 .

OK... Running i7 3770k 4.2 ghz. Cosair vengeance 16gb. 2x Gtx 680s SC 2gb.

Game was preordered with faith in frost bite engine..

Game stutters.. not only in custscenes but also midgame.. first thought it was insufficient vram causing gpu loading.. but lowering settings to automatic or default doesnt fix this.. Tried turning off sli.. no fix. also 0 sli scaling.. the gpu utilization in 1 gpu vs SLi on is exactly the same.. The stuttering gets way worse during cutscenes and dialogue selection.. I think turning sli on causes flickering in textures .. i believe i noticed only textures that flicker are ones that have shadows projected onto them.. not sure bout that..

Game performance is MAJOR dissapointment.. Ive even tried capping the FPS to 30. ( console fps ) to see if pretending that its runnin on a console fixes the issues. i know how ridiculously stupid that sounds.. but ive thrown every hail mary. MAJOR MAJOR DISSAPOINTMENT IN HOW THIS GAME IS RUNNING>. IVE CURRENTLY STOPPED PLAYING AND I ONLY PLAYED UPTO CLOSING THE VERY FIRST RIFT which seems like a tutorial mission.. imo its unplayable due to the bad performance for me.. starting to wish bioware had stuck with unreal engine.. coz clearly i forgot how bad they are when it comes to technical prowess.. seriously..

I don't have in-game stuttering (only cutscene) with a 4 GB GTX 970.

The game uses 2GB+ VRAM with everything max but no MSAA on 1080p.

I hope "driver support" is (also) referring to the continous crashing of the game in cutscenes and at the war table; quite some people seem to be having this problem...

http://answers.ea.co...or/td-p/3982597

Or crashing before the game loads up, which is even worse. Those people (like myself) can't even play the game.

Eh, it's mean to gripe without offering some suggestions, so here's mine:

1.  Make it so the mouse wheel only zooms in and out, it doesn't switch views.

2.  Make it so you can angle the tactical camera to be able to look UP.

3.  Increase the distance you can zoom out (z) in tactical camera.

4.  Make it so that the camera doesn't move when you select a new character.  If you need a "center on currently selected character" (which could be useful, sure) make that a double-click function while select is just a single click.

5.  Put in some kind of ability to issue the same move command to multiple people at the same time.

6.  Decrease the rubber-band distance when the party is "disengaged" and you're controlling a character in normal mode.  This will make it MUCH easier to move the entire party rapidly in an emergency.

7.  When you're actually IN COMBAT (NOT disengaged) there should be NO rubber-banding of any kind whatsoever under any circumstances.

8.  Move/Hold position etc. commands should persist even when  you go out of tactical mode.  If I told someone to move to point X, they should MOVE there, not switch back to "hug the party leader" just because I switched to direct control.

9.  Replace the scroll arrows above the paper doll image in all the inventory screens with small portraits of each party member that you can click directly on without having to scroll through all of them.

10.  Increase the number of listed items in all inventory screens and decrease the size of each item's name.

11.  Let you compare the stats of any crafted item to the currently equipped items of a selected character before you finalize crafting it.

12.  Move the "Craft upgrades" menu from the base crafting table to the modify table and make it so when you select an item it brings up a list of all existing upgrades and all schematics for upgrades that can be applied to that slot.  If you click on a SCHEMATIC, it should then bring up the crafting menu for that schematic and, when you finish crafting it, immediately apply it to the item.  Heck, I'd love it if you'd just get rid of the entire stupid modify table altogether and let you apply mods directly from inventory by double-clicking on the item.  Every time I go to craft stuff I get menu fatigue.

Summary of my issues so far:

Technical issues

I did not have problems/framedrops/crashes, so I won't comment on that. That doesn't mean I'm not aware that those problems are out there. This should be top priority. But remember: that'll be a different team most likely, UI designers aren't engine wizards.

Character and camera controls

- no DA:O / Baldur's Gate style tactical combat where LMB (left mouse button) autoattacks target (moving in if melee) and special attacks can be queued.

- LMB + RMB should move character

- LMB should be 'move to and interact', not 'swing weapon into thin air' when out of combat

- tactical camera does not zoom out far enough, but neither does the 'regular' one, the game looks lovely but it feels cramped

- tactical camera can't be moved by pushing mouse pointer to border of screen

- no automatically walking towards clickable objects (like loot, rifts)

- no run/walk toggle

- spacebar has been pause since 1998, now it isn't

In short: character and camera controls are designed for controller + tv with limited buttons and analog sticks. Simply rebinding to mouse/keyboard does not result in good control options.

UI and mechanics

- no combat trigger, meaning I'm swatting my sword at air all the time, even if there's no enemy in sight

- inventory and menu systems don't adjust to mouse/keyboard and are large and awkward now. Controller: scroll through lists, press button to select, press button to confirm changes. Keyboard/mouse: what every MMO (including swtor) uses: icons that can be dragged into place

- no tooltips on mouseover/hover, which is a break in conventions for pc use

- can't turn off the monster info for those that are targeted, which clutters screen a lot (especially combined with lack of zoom options)

- left click on the button to go back a step in character creation actually took me a step forward (because game interpreted it as pushing 'A-button' equivalent?)

The UI has been designed for controller + tv (big screen at a distance), which means scrolling through lists (analog stick + a/b button) instead of selecting from a grid and clicking/dragging (mouse).

Now I've grown used to controllers ot an extent. I've played several games (Assassin's Creed series, Batman series) with controllers and I'm loving that. But this is a different genre, or at least it told me it it. Add to this mess the technical problems that many people are experiencing and you're ending up with negative momentum. People that read complaints are likely to reply in kind. There may be some stalwart defenders but those'll be fueling the fire more than calming people down.

Now what?

Now you're getting all these negative remarks. Mainly because you did not manage our expectations properly. You never went out and told us that tactical combat would be severely changed, you did not mention that the AI/scripting options would be severely reduced. You told us that there'd be a decent pc version and that created expectations. You're calling this an RPG and that creates expectations. Community management means managing expectations, both pre-launch (and later pre-patch). You need to make sure that the majority expects what you will be delivering. In that, you failed, and negative momentum in the pc player community is what you get.

Of course, this all needs to be put in perspective. For every person that complains here, hundreds are happpily exploring the world. But this is a tarnish on your armor and next time, the passionate/vocal people will be wary. And that's the same group that replies to (p)reviews on other sites, on game forums, and at the coffee machine or watercooler. It's also the group you need to generate buzz and generate free marketing for the holiday sales and for getting your next project noticed.

Maybe next time, do what you did with Mass Effect 1 (and sadly did not do with its sequels): outsource the pc port to someone that knows what's needed. I'll skip the pre-order that time though, and will wait and see.

But for this game: communicate. No need to apologise profusely or post a letter from the CEO, but tell us what will happen and more importantly what will not happen, and when we can expect the changes. I'd aim for a first post tonight (your timezone), in which you summarise the top complaints again and in some detail, so people see that you're aware. Then add a date at which we'll get a more in-depth reply.

I couldnt agree more! +1 Bioware takes notes

So,you did not expect these? I understand that PC players are second-class citizens now. The games are basically made and optimized for consoles. For example, the minimum requirement is ATi 4870,while the game can not run on it without tweaks since the card lacks the driver needed. The UI is just like the Skyrim one, which was also optimized for controllers and caused much trouble on PC.

I feel sad that DAO was such a great game on PC. ( Its UI is better than we have now for mouse and keyboard support)  And I hope at least we can get a Mod Development Kit if possible. With it the community might be able to fix the game ourselves.

I don't know if this might be related, but I had some weirdness with the game when I first started it up because it didn't want to run in fullscreen mode (and it was stuttering like a beyotch) until I told the laptop (which is not nearly as powerful as your PC) to run in "single-monitor" mode with my aux monitor acting as the only monitor.  That fixed the problem somehow.

Nvidia is clearly going to have to release additional patches to deal with whatever problems Bioware eventually addresses.
