"Dragon Age: Inquisition - Made for PC Gamers by PC Gamers"

I've had to say this a few times in various forums and threads over the last week or two but Dragon Age Inquisition is BioWares finest work since 2009.

The story, the characters, the sweeping choices, the humor (MY GOD THE HUMOR! I have not laughed out loud at any game like I have in Inquisition), dem feels (there is some serious strong script and voice work in places), the lore (HOLY **** THE LORE!). The secrets, the cheese wheels (the secret cheese wheels), the exploration, the art style, the graphics. It's fantastic. It oozes such delightful wonder around every corner....if Inquisition was released as an interactive choose your own adventure game - it would be rolling in millions of awards right now and it would make Telltale games look like a childs bed time story....

..but the PC combat experience, the gameplay, the controls and interface for PC are below par. Sometimes not by much, sometimes by a lot.

It's passable sure, but with so much quality throughout the rest of the game it stands out even more. Difficulty of a game shouldn't be determined by poor controls and interface.

Yet another post that makes me glad I decided not to start playing yet.

It means I have to read most things in here like this

Spoiler
but that's cool!

I'd be honestly impressed if the developers really read the forums. Not because they should read it, but quite the contrary: because most of the posts here are just toxic, not to say absolutely dumb. There's little to none actually constructive critcism and FAR TOO MUCH whining.

To be fair, the whining didn't really start till pages 40-50 with no further communication...

Also, you should consider the fact that even the rational people sometimes need to step away from the computer.  But don't let me stop the generalizing...

Which is exactly the problem. For whatever social phenomena, the hate spreads so much it simply nonsensical. It's not THAT bad, and it shouldn't have THAT much of an impact in your life (assuming you're a healthy person at least). That's my point.

Then, again, I'm one of the very few that didn't get "SOOOOO PISSED OMG THEY F****D IT ALL OVER" in DAII. I still had fun with the faster paced, actiony battle system and yes, I thought the story was pretty interesting. Shocking, I know.

The only thing I think DAO was  more objectively and clearly better at were two things: DAO had a better structured and more interesting story overall; much wider variety of locations and dungeons, whereas DAII felt like it had very few assets that kept being recycled for dull dungeons.

Most of the time i don't remember spoilers unless it's about something major, by the time i reach that point in game i vaguely remeber a smurf smurfing a smurf during a smurf in the smurf :D

To be honest, I didn't really read the entire thread, just the first few pages and the last ones, so I guess you're being reasonable. Then again, you can't really expect me to read the entire 171 pages now.

Nobody knows what will be in the next patch, not even the devs.

And no approximative date on that glorius update, is it?

Perfect, I'll just wipe out every location of minor quests and farm so much gold so inquisition can rebuild Skyhold out of dragon bones and diamonds in the centre of Val Royeaux.

While I realize that it will only be another similar, if not the same, post in a fairly large thread I felt the need to add.

This is the second time I've returned a game and actually gone through the effort for a refund.

Not here to rave or throw **** around or flip things over.

Most of your game looks amazing(in every sense of the word).
That you, all of you at bioware, put your 'heart and soul' into it I think falls short.
But, I will not purchase this game again until the combat controls and the interface on pc are properly constructed to work, on pc.

I'm just saying thanks but no thanks to a console game on pc, fairly simple.

I'll patiently wait. But there will not be a purchase until these things won't sully the latest release of a game series I've put hundreds of hours into,
and loved every second of(yes, DA2 and it's dlc as well).

Just hope that those of us who are waiting, some of whom probably did not return their games, aren't waiting in vain.

I think you are mistaking my use of poor Golum's expression....  I was more talking about avoiding story spoilers.  That is why I am glad everytime I see a post like that praising everything but the controls.

Nope, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to either.  The thing is, I've tried to stay as up to date with this thread in particular as I can, and when Allan came on Thanksgiving eve, and talked about his role in the upcoming patches, there was a very productive couple days worth of discussion.

Unfortunately, that was over a week ago, so things have gotten rather thread bare.

Here's the bottom line.  There are clearly issues that need to be addressed in the patches.  They've been discussed ad nauseum.  There needs to be some further interaction like Allan had, but apparently he was not doing that out of job requirement, so we are left wondering what's up.

I think it's hard to imagine Bioware (not to mention EA) are not 100% aware of every single return that has occurred since the 18th of Nov.  That is money directly out of their pockets, so it's going to show up.  I wish I had not missed my return window, but I know many, many people did not.

Dunno why most of the hate goes to controls. Tactic camera is goddamn awful, but I use it rarely (I'm playing on nightmare), and I got used to it. Everything else is fine. Never played with controller, ever. Must be something wrong with me.

I just send someone to gather coin a couple times a day, i think by the time the patch is released i'll have enough gold to build a few dragon bone and diamond skyholds.

Do you play it like a typical FPS then?

Anybody else getting this combat bug?

Figured as I can reproduce it, and it's kind of hindering the PC-gameplay, I'd check in here to see if I was - or aren't - all on my lonesome ;-)

Kinda. 70% of the time I run as Inq, bashing, smashing, controlling the **** out of archers and creeps (chain pull+kilck is the best skill I've ever seen, apart from dragon fury which I'm so eager to get). Always one more tank warrior with taunts, who does good enough without my permanent intevention. Tactical camera to move people around if in danger. Controlling mage to cast barrier when i really need it. Archer to focus dps pesky ghost which I cannot pull and stun. And vitel weapon buffs to heal on kill, and you are good to go.
Also goo flasks are imba, period.

The thing about the controls is they would probably work very well with a Mass Effect game (I'm actually very excited for the new mass effect, just praying it wont have as many bugs as this one) which is more of an "action RPG" (at least for me) than Dragon age is.

To not have autoattack is for me a dealbreaker and makes every fight out right boring. There is no need for any actual strategy and planing in the fights it's just hold ur mouse button down and occasionally use an ability. And to ppl who rants about "there is autoattack in tactical cam view" to you I say, the taccam is bloody broken m8.

I don't say remove the mouse attack, cause it seems some people like it, I just say add an optional autoattack in pause mode as well and also fix the taccam.

I loved to enter combat in DA:O and was happy with (if not a little dissapointed) the combat of DA:II. But in DA:I the combat (for me) is very boring and brainless.

Dont think so. Remember that there is no direct heals apart from pots, so every mob group out there is ready to **** up your day if you do not do your thing. As a 2h warrior I rarely have need to autoattack, I always use skills and move around to get better position. Doubles for tank warrior. With a shiled you almost run'taunt'nshield'n'def all day. Dunno for rogue, standart dps class turns into click-to-death diablo style ranged shyte. Might be right. Mage's auto is kinda weak compared to others, all in abilities, control (weakness op) and barries are bros for lyfe so dumby varric can dps everyshing down.

Ya well, it just seems we like different playstyles. I just hope they can fix taccam and perhaps make autoattack optional in standard pause mode so I also can enjoy the combat. I would like it to not feel like a drag to keep playing the game.

rogue is pretty funny, in higher difficulties you need a lot of micromanagment not to die, especially at enemies with aoe. he is great for archer and mages hunting,

You are right in that this has been completely overblown and the game is actually really good.  In fact if this was the product put out by Spiders who made Bound by Flame, it would nothing but praise and accolades.

The problem is this isn't just any game.  I think it was Jay Wilson, the lead developer of Diablo 3 who said they kept delaying and reworking diablo 3 because "If we released it now it would be a very good game, but we aren't making just another game, we are making the next Diablo game, our standards have to live up to the expectations."  That's paraphrased obviously and Diablo 3 never lived up to the expectations, but it's the same here.  If anything, the blame belongs to Bioware for creating Dragon Age: Origins, which set the bar so high that future games couldn't live up to the standards it set.

The book on the left that says Examine, I have already done so a few times, it still shows up as something to examine…. The book pile to the right involves a quest that I’m already done with, so shouldn’t it you know stop showing up when scanning, nothing happens when I try to read the book…

Youtube video lin below, se for yourselfs!
