Angry Joe is such a tool. He spends literally over half his review talking about how bad the UI, tac cam, and general PC port is then still gives it an 8/10. What a ****** idiot.
lol, literally over half? He touches on it briefly, says everything that needs to be said, and moves on. I found his review to be fair and thorough, there was very little to disagree with for me.
I mean, how do you think a rating scale should work, then? DA:I provides hours upon hours of entertainment, in several vast and graphically beautiful maps, with fully voiced characters, meaningful choices, great writing, rich story with several branching points, etc. In short, DA:I is exactly what you'd expect to get when you are allowed to throw a metric crap tonne of time, effort, and money at making a video game. And if you don't screw it up royally, you are going to end up with a game that deserves a high rating, compared to the rest of the industry.
In that context, I think 9/10 for the console version and 8/10 for the PC version is entirely justified. I can understand that if your game is crashing and you can't play it, or you really really hate the PC controls/interface, then 8/10 seems high. But most PC players, while certainly not fans of the controls/UI, are probably not pinning their entire enjoyment of the game on those things.
For my part, I am very disappointed in the UI and controls, and particularly disappointed by what I think this reveals about Bioware's motivations and the perception of their core audience. But I am still enjoying the game quite a lot, and 8/10 describes my experience pretty well, all things considered.
