The award is made by judging, not by votes. Dragon age 2 could have won game of the year if we go by this.

Could you please give us an ETA at least? Just so that we have a date to look forward to, as the wait is quite hard not knowing when to even expect it
No, and I believe this is one of those things I cant explain why for the exact reason I cant give an ETA. I am not 100% certain on releasing it and I have seen how what I say here can be picked up by news articles.
Dafuq is so secret about not being able to give an ETA (smells like console validation) or even what is being patched? Makes no fùcking sense. Usually the devs are like kids high on sugar when it comes to stuff being fixed/added to their game and yet bioware is playing the Gordon Freeman card.
Putting two and two together, console validation is currently the most likely reason I can think of based on his responses.
Considering how fast the validation system is, it's probably going to be Q3 2015. Oh and I bet the PC patch is already uploaded, they just need to push that release button, but of course we too have to wait.
Hehe, think you missed my meaning, but that's okay, the poster I was responding to got me (won't explain, because major spoiler involved, but let it be said I think both of us actually like Calanhad's golden-haired whelpling).
Side note: my best, absolute best Nightmare party setup for most things was 2 sword-and-board (Ali + my Cousland Warden girl) + either mage + either Zev (once I'd used all the books to get him actually the lockpicker he said he was and all his assassin points he was a fast bugger with some pretty good DPS) or Leliana if I wanted an archer. I let Ali tank all the threat (and protect said mage) while barely needing to switch to him, while Zev/Lel and my Cousland bashed the enemies down. I found he did exactly what I wanted him to. Maybe he liked her.It was the 2-h warrs (Og and Sten) I barely used, if I could help it. And I used Shale only for the occasional dragon fight.
Its kind of lame, but after playing DAO, was the moment I had my first ever major PC game crush.. and that was on Alistair.. For some reason I had to know who his voice actor was, I looked up pictures that people would draw on Diviant Art.. Went back and relived the blossoming love he had for my character. I know a lot of people said he was stupid, lame, whimpy, a coward, etc.. I dont know. I loved the little shy, sly, innocent kind of love that he had with my Warden. I cant help it, I loved him.
Just to keep people up to date with what devs have said (reddit source)

You will likely not hear us say anything more than we are working on a patch. The reason for this is some things are out of the developers control.

There is no reason why PC gamers should have to wait for that though.

Actually, some awards in business are bought and paid for. I cannot tell you how many plaques in I have been solicited for; to hang awards like best business and best customer service, most community minded.... it's for sales. And, in Bioware Division's case for investor confidence. http://www.google.co...Dw&ved=0CBUQ2AE
They got our money. They received the award. We can not deprive them this award. Hence we have to deprive them our money.
Yep
I am not gonna sit here twiddling my thumbs after being lied to about how this was made by pc gamers and waiting to see if they can or cannot make it a playable game for me. I don't find it anything like origins at all, this tactical mode is completely unacceptable, we were essentially lied to, and I want a refund if it isn't going to be fixed.
.

Honestly, can't see a patch coming until after Christmas at this rate. ![]()
Yes, based on the recent news it seems the only active work Bioware is doing is in more promotional work, the same promotional work that conned me into preordering a console port. I don't know the industry, but in mine, social media management is just as important as any other element in the marketing mix, something that seems to be absent in Bioware aside from getting answers by twitting the developers - personally I can't do that, I respect their privacy too much (like hell if I was to make an open twitter account for guests of my hotel I won't have any time for myself!)
Still, I'm glad they gave us something, and they answered well - without their words being pulled apart by journalists. Even if we have to jump to our own conclusions.
I totally believe we should not target developers, they have a task to do. They do what they are told to do. They can't respond to forums or it's their head.
But the person who was in charge of the design, who had ultimate responsibility for the crap we are dealing with has left the building.
The one who made the video that got all of us believing has discovered the Klingon Cloaking ability. The video Laidlaw made was woeful at best. He couldn't control the mouse! But we wanted to believe. Sad really
I don't agree ![]()
See from Allan's post you can conclude fot the dev - the UI+controls work fine on PC, since apparently they ALL play with controllers....
this got goty? You're joking right?
this got goty? You're joking right?
To be fair, it didn't had a lot of competition.
2014 was a very "meh" year for gaming.
Also, the game itself isn't really bad... It's just terrible on PC controls.
That being said, if the witcher 3 had come out this year, DA:I would not have won that's for sure.
@allan schumacher
Hello there Allan, thank you for putting your time into this...
Please, see if you agree with me that all the problems bellow are the common complain within the PC community (guess 60%+), and - if so - how close are you into fixing these specific problems, please:
Simpler things, like the zoom of the camera and, specially, the tactical camera and allowing click to move when paused (NOT JUST when using tactical camera) should be fixable in hours of work and patch for those released in a day or two -- if mods where available I'm sure there would be a mod fixing those two things at day one.
More complicated things, like AI and UI should come in a week or two. But more immediate AI problems, like it not following tactical camera orders when one leaves it (and that just sounds like a bug or something unplanned, because I can't think of anyone who would actually want the game to BE that way) should be addressed in days as wheel.
So basically...
URGENT MATTERS (again, I think most of the community will agree, and I do see this problems bellow as the most complained about here -- just check early posts):
_Camera zoom (more, on all modes, specially the Tactical Camera mode)
_Click to move and orders available in pause mode (not ONLY in tactical camera mode)
_AI keeping commands, orders, given in Tactical Camera Mode even when you leave it (Tactical Camera mode).
Medium - longterm matters:
_UI (what everyone is saying).
_AI (actually making it better and more configurable).
Thank you very much for your attention, do hope you read it.
VERY REASONABLE POST. 10 DAYS AGO

2014 a "meh" year?
For AAA titles at least, I had alot of fun from indie titles such as Divinity Original Sin, Age of Wonders III and Planet Explorers (though its still in alpha stage - yet yielded me 200+ hours). I would have voted Divinity over DA:I in the RPG section but alas, most people haven't even heard of the game!

If they don't want to speak on it that's fine, I just want to know how this company has changed so much in not all that much time. I'll reiterate my points....
In DA: O the dexterity fix was OPENLY discussed in the forums, we were given a hot fix BY A DEV, and received the official patch well before the consoles because console certification shouldn't have any effect whatsoever on a PC patch.
In ME 2, the lead game designer REGULARLY posted in the combat section giving us the detailed stats we needed to figure out proper strats, relaying info on the thought process behind dev decisions, and having discussions that actually led some to some balance patching.
Both of these games also had SUBSTANTIALLY better PC interfaces than Inquisition. So again I ask, how on earth is that this is the same company we're talking about?

It isn't the same company anymore. Lot's of things have happened since then.
It's two different teams - the ME team and the DA team. Obviously as it turns out the DA team are all console players, or PC players who play with controllers. No KB+M players, and if there are, their voice was simply not loud enough to change the minds of management, who obviously favor consoles and controllers.

EA happened. They ruined Bioware. The same exact way they ruined Maxis. You should have seen what they did to the Sims 4. They left out over 85 base features that were in every single other sims game, released it early, broken. No toddlers. No pools. Teens the same height as young adults and adults. Babies tied to cradles with no interactions of their own. No service people. No family trees. And the one thing that they kept praising over and over and over was that Sims now had EMOTIONS. Funny, because when a sim in a family dies, the family doesnt care, or mourn.. they arent upset over the death at all. They just keep on going. If a Sim walks in on another sim cheating, its oh okay, well, let me go cook you a sandwich now.. So much for emotions.
I should have learned my lesson two months ago after that catastrophe. Man, was I stupid. No more EA for me. Ever.
I don't know about EA fully corrupting Bioware yet, as they do give Bioware alot of leeway, and they have with DA:I. Alot of people also forget Bioware's console favoritism began in 2005 with Jade Empire's release, and this was before EA acquisition.
As for Sims 4, how can you trust EAMaxis after Sim City? lol
That German guy is AFK apparently so let me do the honors:
Are we there yet?

I never played Sim City.. Just the Sims. Sims 2 was the best game. I remember in my own apartment waking up in the morning with the computer in my room, next to the bed, rolling over, and immediately booting up the game from bed.. LOL. I could play that game for HOURS.
They started going down hill with Sims 3. It wasnt that good at all, but it wasnt that broken.
I didnt really know about EA's corruption until recently. Honestly, Im not really a kind of forum w*ore, I dont investigate games before I buy them, read a lot about them, follow them, watch reviews and game play videos and all that stuff. I play a game, I like it, I keep getting it.. The Sims 4 was the first time Ive actually had to go that route with a game before.. and now this. I guess Im pretty naive in nature. But Im deffo learned my lesson now..

GOOD POST!
EA does not want to lose money by pissing on Bioware customers. That is not how they are selling their stock. The budgets given from the parent to the child does not force design decisions this late. EA was lied to as much as PC customers were by the Bioware Division marketing. The difference is that EA does not play Bioware games and are not responsible for Bioware Division QA.
There is no conspiracy by EA to harm the PC market - or drive Bioware customers to other developers.
BIOWARE does that all on its own. It is responsible for the development of this game. It is responsible for the marketing messages sent out for this game. Its people are responsible for the words that come out of their mouth.
EA can/will make changes in Bioware management structure when/if Bioware Division operates at a loss.
THAT IS WHY I RETURNED MY GAME. THE GAME DID NOT GO TO EA. IT WENT BACK TO BIOWARE.
The sales report will get back to EA.

Innocence lost heh
Well, it's better you learn now then never. EA started to become a boogeyman for me after what they did with Command and Conquer, liquidating Westwood, the company that got me into real time strategy games, then Maxis, even though the acquisition was much slower compared to Westwood - Sims 2 was a great title for instance. Sims 3 to this day requires mods to actually run. The mod "overwatch" has become essential to help prevent routing bugs which freeze your game whenever a Sim in the entire neighbourhood fails to get from A to B. This problem is worse depending on which world you play on. So hey, I'm not a fan of EA.
Still, in Bioware's case, I don't think EA is to blame.
