No. If you are offline there is no import option at all; you must use their default (which is, I believe the same default that had dead Dalish Warden, Alistair king, Hawke a mage who sided with mages, no romance options). And you cannot be "online" for the Keep without also being "online" for Origin--which tells you why it's like this, right there. You cannot import/log in with the game without being logged in Origin. It's another anti-piracy measure.

It was one of the things I objected to vociferously (via the beta reporting) during the Keep beta, not being able to download an app, or use an in-game function that ships with the game, that emulated the keep for people who did not have an internet connection/want to be online at the time of starting a new game. They made it fairly clear they weren't changing that, though.

I'm also genuinely sure that the need to be online with the Origin client running is a major contributor to the start-game crashes people are experiencing.

*nods head*

Yep, it's a shame when things like that, that provide no benefit to the user playing the game, end up affecting the overall experience.  So many of these practices give the impression that when they tested these things pre-release there was alot of running around and arguing between programmers.

Yes, I wish more people would return the game(s) that were sold to them by direct lies and misrepresentations of the truth. +1 Cahones! If enough people did that, maybe the industry as a whole would take notice. But it starts from feeling the self-worth to stand up for oneself, right? It’s not about the money. It’s not because it's the popular thing to do, but because it is the right thing to do. Where do you see the bad in that exactly?

I don't see the bad in returning the game if you are dissatisfied with it.  It's just getting way too dramatic about it I think--like suggesting a boycott, for instance, that I think goes too far.  Perhaps others feel the same way about this.

I don't know about EA fully corrupting Bioware yet, as they do give Bioware alot of leeway, and they have with DA:I. Alot of people also forget Bioware's console favoritism began in 2005 with Jade Empire's release, and this was before EA acquisition.

As for Sims 4, how can you trust EAMaxis after Sim City? lol

Who was lead designer for jade Empire?

Dramatic??  The devs are all over twitter accepting goty awards and many gamers are going on 3 weeks now unable to even start the game.

The Bioware founders themselves, Ray and Greg, and it was an Xbox exclusive release in 2005, ported to PC in 2007.

I guess this is their new strategy of handling negativity, by pretending it doesn't exist. *sigh* Sure feels like it.

You know, now that you bring it up, maybe a boycott is a good idea? Boycotts have done some good things for social change in the past. Some behaviours do merit boycott and outright shunning. I think liars should not be rewarded, myself.

Boycott: to refuse to buy, use, or participate in (something) as a way of protesting : to stop using the goods or services of (a company, country, etc.) until changes are made. http://www.merriam-w...tionary/boycott

Funny how the dishonest can think up of things like DRM, which never occur to honest people.

Would really appreciate for some official answer about a rough estimate on when can we expect some PC patch to be released... almost 3 weeks since release and we keep in the dark.

No patch or even patch news still???

It's been out for like 3 weeks now. Unbelievable, esp. for a SP game.

I guess this is their new strategy of handling negativity, by pretending it doesn't exist. *sigh* Sure feels like it.

Again, I have to defend my profession and professional colleagues by stating in an unequivocal manner that this sort of public relations behaviour depicted by Bioware Division is totally unprofessional and against the tenets of sound PR behaviour.  Professional PR would advise and act to take responsibility and lead communications.

Moving into the first MONTH of this fiasco and 200+ pages of outcry later would merit unprofessional PR practice.

I am perplexed why the forums have little dev input right now, but there are some things to consider.

1)  This may never have been intended to be a open thread--most news threads aren't.  But it would be a bit more controversial to close a large thread.

2)  Twitter and other Social Networks have an advantage--they get others to buy the game.  It's probably Bioware and/or EA wanting to maximize promotion and sales to go after the uncommitted folks.  Which is why more twitch and twitter, less forums.

3)  I suspect because of legal liabilities for the patches prevent them from committing any promise until it's done, which means they're probably not gonna talk until they have it ready.

4)  This thread has sort of delved off of the actual bugs and issues into things like questioning the design, UI, etc.  The former is easy to deal with, but if you are questioning the basic design choices of the gameplay and ui--that's not something that can be easilly fixed, so it doesn't make sense to address it directly.

You know, now that you bring it up, maybe a boycott is a good idea? Boycotts have done some good things for social change in the past. Some behaviours do merit boycott and outright shunning. I think liars should not be rewarded, myself.

Well, people have been saying they are boycotting Bioware since DA2.  I suspect those who feel strongly enough are.  I guess too many people like the game and the general direction of Bioware and they are the majority.

Despite these problems, any problems with DA:I have a lot less reaction than either DA2 or ME3.

Can confirm that playing offline without an active internet connection has alleviated any crashes I was having and gained a small improvement, but noticeable, to performance.

In the old social network there were community managers, they may not be devs but were given enough information to communicate with fans.

What happened? Mass effect 3? *sigh*

That's why I don't get why they are hiding! DA:I's launch isn't such a disaster like ME3.

Though from tweets the only conclusion I can think of is that they can't say more then what they have already said on this thread - because it's out of their hands now. And if it's out of their hands, it just means -> MS/Sony validation for the cross-platform patch, which we have to wait for.

Oh nothing much, just thousands upon thousands of enraged, sad, disappointed, angry fans, with public campaigns launched and huge media coverage. Nothing much at all, and Bioware also recieved a package of red, green and blue pies in the end - even though they all tasted the same :)

Was very nice
