Yes I read that one, hence why I came to the conclusion the patch is under validation with Sony/MS.

As for Allan, I'm glad at least he did post on this forum, if people are going to dig into his words however he's just going to be more and more paranoid. Like hell he's already hiding in the closet - aren't we trying to get him OUT of the closet so we can get some updates on the overdue patch?

Only two real problems as far as I'm concerned but they're both fairly severe.

#1: The tactical camera is complete and utter garbage. You can't zoom out far enough to make the overhead view worthwhile, you can't pan the view by moving your cursor to the side like you can in virtually every game ever, and worst every time you change the party member you're controlling the camera pans over to them. This is a *huge* problem since it results in a ton of wasted time whenever you're trying to get your entire party to focus on a particular enemy or to all move to a given location since you wind spending so much extra time slowly dragging the cursor back with every change. Borrow the logic virtually every other rts game uses and have the camera only move to focus if you double-click. I'd like to be able to just forget about the thing entirely but sadly you can't right-click ground to get characters to move to a given location anymore so whenever I need to direct more than one character's movement at a time it's an abusive necessity.

#2: The melee ability shuffle. Could we just make it an understanding that if I'm using a melee ability I'm using it from a position in which it will hit? If it misses it'll be on me and I'll learn right away not to do that. Instead the game seems to have a very narrow acceptable range finder which is unfortunately flummuxed by enemies moving back and forth during combat as well as characters having very noticeable rotation speed limits and hence much bumbling back and forth.

There's certainly other stuff I could complain about - assorted bugs with the UI, badly laid out status screen, the fact that I've played virtually the entire game while holding down the right mouse button because someone's apparently quite the pessimist on the whole "mouse look" thing ever catching on, etc. but those are the two that most severely hamper my enjoyment of the game.

The one advantage Bioware has with complaints here is the walled garden of the forum.  It is not happening in open space like it does on Twitter or Facebook or on other forums like Steam or for other game developers - CDRedProjekt for example. Wowzers there are a lot of angry people not just here.

But here: threads can be

Locked.

Archived.

Ignored.

And posters with legitimate complaints banned.

Think of this place as the incinerator of PC gamer complaints. Bring your suggestion slips over and toss them into the fire.  Have a nice day.

Cannot do that in the public eye. And it might surprise Bioware to know there is a large PC gamer public on The Internet.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you that it sure feels like that. It sure does feel like they just made this thread as an incinerator for all PC complaints so it won't flood the feedback section with tons of PC issues - which sure, is a reasonable action for moderating the forum - but when theres no response? No updates?

*sigh*

This level of PR is appalling for a company that I remember actually communicated with fans.

Can someone gifted and creative do a Dragon Age 3 meme using this music?

No.

it is not a job for Allan.

It is a job for the official voice of Bioware - not a do-gooder.

Judging by the absence of "bioware" markers in feedback&suggestions forum i'd say nobody's reading that either.

Also the focus on sales is during the first 10 weeks, We are entering week #4. Pre-orders have returned, undoubtably knocking down the "almost" level of first week sales of DA2 (to quote one statistic). I anticipate, based upon the rage all around the Net, actual sales to mirror DA2 results - declining week by week - rather than the valley seen in DA:Origins sales figures. 10 week sales were $3.76 Million for DA:O Considerably less for DA2.

DA3 has had a 3 year marketing campaign going - which will eat into profit with DA3 that did not happen with DA2 (which was coasting on the success of DA:O.  I do expect heads to roll. Sadly, those heads will get new jobs by waving their GotY award around and blame EA for their departure....  and start working for other RPG developers.

I guess I'd need to see the rage "around the net".  Right now, I see complaints about the patch lateness on Twitter, but perhaps an equal number of enthusiastic statements.

The bump in DA:O is more or less likely due to the Christmas holiday.  If you look at VGChartz--I know, it's not entirely accurate--all games decline sharply after the first week, with the EXCEPTION of anything released in the November/December period, which always seems to get a bump due to christmas shopping.  So that's the reason you may see a rise in the sales, especially after the recent publicity here.

If I'm challenging--I don't mind if you're personally pissed off--but I do think distorting facts to fit your worldview is something that should be challenged.  We'll see come the new year who was right.  We don't really have a good gage of how many people are upset, and what percentage they make up.

But personally, based on reactions, if sales go down for Bioware to a point where people are fired, it could just mean that the general public is not interested in the complex RPG games that Bioware produces as opposed to games with more mass appeal and I'll bet if that's the case, EA will pull the plug on them for that reason.

Correct.

As far back as two months ago when I first appeared there.

Only person to be seen were moderators locking threads and banning posters.

Good discussion about DAI, by Totalbisquit and Jessecox in their podcast:

https://www.youtube....h?v=GGLPodSLV1M

Judging by their commentary, you'd never think they were talking about a game that won GOTY. Go to the GOTY thread and you'd think TotalBiscuit and crew were talking about another game.

This is getting ridiculous...Bioware, is it so hard to assign the task of communicating with us , (us being the poor idiots that continue to buy your stuff instead of simply downloading it from filelist), to a simple person that can at least tell us "Wait more and cry less bit****" ? A person that can interact a little with your customers, with the people that pay your salaries and bills? Are we asking for too much? Whatever..If I write this message here or on my room's walls it has the same , 0 effect.

BINGO!

I think the biggest issue would be framerate drop with the camera being that high up. But I have not tried the trainer so I don't know what effect it has on framerates.

However, if one is building a Tactical RPG, then these are some of the things one needs to keep in mind when creating the engine, and considering gameplay.

Of course, if one's focus is to create a pseudo third person action MMO...then concerns for level of zoom in early development are minimal.

Bring back more than 8 buttons please.  The Alt key is unassigned and available.  Where's the good old days of NWN and DAO.  Why level up and get all these abilities and then not use em???.  This is the primary reason I don't play rpg on console, I don't like button mashing!!!  I want choice!  Please and thank you.  O and thank you for making this very beautiful game.  Seriously bring back more buttons and the Ctrl key is a horrible place for a pause button, just saying.  I am playing DAI right at this moment and I am missing my buttons

Didn't TB like this in review? Didn't TB also get an award on Friday...?

first, its (early) 10 days and not 2 weeks.

I am thinking you might want to revise this here. Just saying.

Ha ok.

First it's not early when the game refuses to go fullscreen to 60% of the PCs and refuses to run or crashes constantly to another 20-30%. I am sorry but that is inexcusable and just means they never tested it properly. Which means that it was developed for PC is a lie. As I said before I am programmer as well and if I release  something like that - whole team would be sacked on the spot. That leads to the logical conclusion that no one there cared for the PC gamers. Again the first patch doesn't need to fix EVERYTHING, but at least should allow to people to start and play the game. And that is crucial. And for something like that 10 days is TOO long. It's like you buying brand new laptop/PC, getting it home only to discover that you can't turn it on for the next month. Now would you be patient or return it and buy another one?

There is nothing hysterical in my comment. These are all logical conclusions based on : the condition in which the game was released/PC controls and camera optimisation/Hardware issues/Fullscreen issues on PC/the dreadful gender bug/lack of response by Bioware/not having the decency to say WHAT they intend to fix at all/locked for modding/simplifying AI and many more. This game was clearly made with no thoughts towards PC experience. And after Allan confirming that for him and the team the controls/UI/Cam is responsive and ok, and combined with all the things mentioned before ANY person who can use logic will come to the conclusion that they have given up on PC and won't address those issues apart from the Hardware ones.

So don't put logical conclusions as "hysteria". The fault for that "hysteria" as you call it, lies with BW/EA as no one bothers to inform us what they intend to fix at all. And that is not how you do business. You don't leave consumers to draw conclusions by not responding or not giving information when you have made severe mistakes. That's business 101.

WELL SPOKEN. THANK YOU.

OMG. 100 pages already. We've had Alan to give a breath of fresh air, and it's not even his area of responsibility!! No one else.

Can  you imagine this happening in any other area? What an unmitigated tragedy.

I can't see them living this down. Total PR disaster. Just like the recent Korean ferry sinking. "Nothing to see! Stay in your cabins. Don't annoy the crew!"

The thing is that they don't care about this forum, because basically no one from the outside world comes here to read this. If this stuff was happening on Facebook then we would've had more attention.

I've already posted this, but here's a link where some mod answers most of the questions:

https://www.facebook...agonage?fref=ts

True

From my perspective, those players that are the most upset ones with agressive attitude are in fact the most passionate and (possibly loyal) players and the reason why they are so angry is because they care about this title and now, they feel like theirs favorite PC game died converting to the dark side (inferior console sub-human race, lol).

If you made this game better for PC, those angry BioWare fans would be your best BW fans. This fuzz and resentfulness also comes from false claims and promises from BW. It is even more unsettling, cuz those PC problems can be "seen" right away (as soon as you try to do you first move or more obviously, in the first combat...)

Still, if you fix KB+M controls, UI (especially inventory) and tactic screen and general PC combatibility ofc, then the game will be fan-tastic!

the game does not suffer loss of productivity FPS if you use the camera hack, in most cases it is better than a third-person.

so I see no problem in establishing normal tactical camera.

Just so you know, I'm playing DA2 now, and I cannot use directx11 because it causes invinsible textures leading to invinsible parts of characters bodies. I read at this forum that it was fixed some time ago, but the fix is not working with new gpu drivers.

I had the same problem with DA2, but it disappeared when I rolled back my nvidia driver to 340.52.

Bryan Johnson just posted this on reddit

My two cents, the entire industry has changed. I have a few posts on this sub reddit that ended up being quoted by English, French, Spanish and German news pages. If I provide a wrong piece of information that information is now in the public domain more than ever and I can be "crucified" for "lying" even years after the fact.

Furthermore we get instances of people being online bullied because they spoke to the public and then something happened that they didnt like. So the person that spent time talking in the community is now the enemy and the person who works behind the scenes has not spent extra time and is not potentially being bullied.

People will undoubtedly say EA changed us (I expect this) but it is infact the industry as a whole. When you have millions upon millions of dollars on the line (with actual legal consequences) you tend to watch your words a bit more carefully.

You'll also notice I have my real life name on this sub-reddit. I am not an anonymous person, people can very easily find out who I am so if I make a statement that someone doesnt like they can easily go out and search for everything I have done and start to tear me apart.

Essentially at this point if I went into something like the PC feedback thread and posted right now, what are my real options?

  • Post "I have read this thread and will do my best to make others aware of it" - This would get me flamed for not actually saying something that will make most furious people happy
  • Post "We are working on fixing x, y, and z" - This would then have a response of what about a b and c. Do you not care about those people with a b and c?
  • Post "We are going to fix everything" - Well now if someone decides not to fix something, then I will be called a liar in the public eye and inevitably damage my reputation by making a statement I have no control over
