So many PC games RUINED by the developers prioritizing consoles...

I loved the first two games, but this one.. I just cant bring myself to enjoy it one bit with the akward controls and lack of mouse button support. When I buy a game for PC I expect it to be playable with MOUSE AND KEYBOARD.

I feel betrayed.

That is by design.  Plan better next time.

Just because it is by design doesn't mean it is a good idea.

A lot of design choices seem to be the removal of options from the previous two games.

I was messing around with my mouse ( I have A4tech x7/cheap but good) setting the "treble" button (7 on the pic) to always repeat/hold "W" until i press it again. Having my character move without holding the W feel so liberating and natural. That little thing makes the game play 10 times better.

I hope something similar gets patched in - like Hold RM+LM to move, click on terrain to move without tactical camera being on.

I very much appreaciate you allowing us to know you are working on things, It is better than being left wondering, or un informed.

Many studies have been done showing how well informed workers, are much more production minded, and better at there job's, I would think this same condition would also apply to gamers as well.

Thx U very Much for at least responding.

Waiting this long, the patch better be MEATY. Maker, give me strength if this patch is not significant...

The only thing left to wonder about is patch notes. Bueller?

People, I hope you are following the modders progress on:

Dat hair! That's amazing. Let's hope the DRM will allow us to use mod tools XD

<snip>

Not liking the whole Frostbite engine results at the moment.

I guess now everyone will have to hope this engine works out longterm. Certainly it has made a healthy profit so far, but the issues would probably have been avoided if they had used a more established/homegrown engine specifically for the next few Dragon Age games.

Honestly Frostbite 3 is a pile of junk, in a technical sense.

From the Mark Darrah twitter feed:

I realize that many of you are looking for clarity on the 1st patch. The goal was Dec. 9. We will be missing that on most platforms.

I'm curious what he meant by most platforms...

Let's put it this way: If your platforms begin with either "Sony" or "Microsoft," he's talking about you.

Patch should still release on time for PC.

Here's hoping it'll bring good news (technical fixes and bug fixes)

The drm will not interfere with the texture injection process, no worries.

I wonder if ME Next will be on Frostbite 3 either.

Now I know that it's useless to preorder games that use this engine.

In fact, you should wait for a year or so before even trying to play. And there will be good discounts by then.

Just wow Adela has put the devs to shame.....can't wait for the modders to figure out how to put them in game.

Did you go into the option menus and switch the controller method from 'M+KB' to 'Gamepad'?

I did. I've tried pretty much all the suggested fixes but no luck.

LOL, and all this time people tried to blame Frostbite for the horrible hair. This.... this is so embarrassing. What's up with all the (nearly) bald characters in this game if hair like THAT can be created? I don't get it.

because hairs like that on every characters in the game would cause massive stability issues. Especially on consoles. An if character have good hairs, and NPC don't it would feel real weird...

The question is, are those hairs in game or not?  From reading through, it sounds like they pulled the meshes/textures into a modeling tool.  I am curious if those designs are just rendered in a tool, or actually in-game?  Given the backgrounds on the sample images, I am thinking that's not in-game.  It'll be interesting to find out if they can import those designs into the game.

Why can't Bioware release tools for the unpacking and repacking of files at least?

No one really needs a full SDK to make the small changes that they want to make.

Say it is unsupported and just leave it to fans to do what they want with the unpacked files.

Do your checks for file integrity at Multiplayer and leave everything else up to the fans.

How are they going to sell us their Hair DLC, and Horn DLC, and Armor DLC, if we can just make it ourselves?

Adela created such lovely hair models in short time. What an amazing artist. In fact that is the best hair mod I have seen for any game.

And you are right, so embarrassing for Bioware who had what, three / four years to work on this thing... Just shameful.

Fan made mods has never impacted sale of actual studio made content.

The people that use mods are a subset of the market, and the mods will never have the advertising power of the publisher behind them.

Also, fact is that aside from minor changes generally story, new areas, and new missions are not done by modders. So this is mainly texture improvements that leverage the PC Platform, aesthetic changes, and fixes that the developers can't do because of budget or policy constraints.

Skyrim is totally moddable, and its DLC sold like hot bread.

Same with Neverwinter Nights.

Adding hair and horns to a DLC that includes story and game content I can see, but standalone cosmetic content for a game like DAI for SALE?

That I can't see them doing. Look at Shadow of Mordor DLC. Some of it was cosmetic, but always with something like a new game mode or set of missions bundled in.

So when are patches usually added on Origin? Assuming the patch still comes out tomorrow that is.

I think I now see what the large issue here is, we have the one group that wants to play "baldur's gate 4: Inquisition" and the other group that is playing "Every other game ever made: Inquisition" and the former seems to want a completely redesigned ui and combat system designed to take them back in time, while the latter is looking for the bugs and crashes to be addressed.

Then there are just the haters, waving their, we hate EA signs and offering nothing constructive at all sides gasoline to keep their hater hearts warm at night.

Eh, it's not like every strand will be animated in hair like this. And from what I've seen environments have plenty of grass, trees, etc., which no doubt will be resource intensive too. Much more than hair, I suspect. And even then, the hair Bioware did make looks very bad both mesh and texture wise. I doubt something that looked at least decent would have wrecked the game. I can plonk hair like this on my sims:

snapshot_2d92eaad_bff6c84c_zps4dc631fb.j

snapshot_7e6f60d0_6049ec30_zps224d9de9.j

And this is sims 2, which is ten years old now. Sure, it's on PC, but again I doubt that with everything in the game hair is what would cause "massive" stability issues.

Level of Detail (LOD) sliders mediate this. There's no reason why NPCs need to have extremely detailed hair outside of cutscenes.
