lol, def trolling :)

Probably, but he's likely right about Win 7 vs Win 8.1 - quite a few folks solved the CTDs by turning off Win 7 compat and turning on run-as-admin.

Edit to add:  I gained around 15 FPS personally via the above & stopped crashing, but.  Not enough data for a conclusion in general.

It's to be expected. There's much more money in consoles than PC. Consoles are also more cost effective to focus resources on, because for those, you only have two (four if you include last gen) hardware configurations to deal with.

For PC you have thousands upon thousands of possible permutations to try to optimize your coding for, which is more resource intensive on the part of the devs. And with the massive profits gained with console games and the problem of piracy for PC (perceived as a PC-only problem, even though piracy also is a problem for consoles).

In short, publishers prefer consoles because they're more comfortable with focusing money into them, and they perceive piracy to not be a major issue on those platforms, even though in actuality it is.

Well, except of course that you are completely incorrect. It's a common misconception, but PC game sales compared to console sales have been on the rise and have now (and are predicted to continue) outselling consoles. I do both PC games and console games, and there are some advantages either way, but currently PC sales lead:

http://www.pcr-onlin...globally/033849

http://www.siliconre...-now-outselling

Etc. Etc. Etc. Just google it and you'll find out a lot more about it.

almost 70 hours of game play. no crushes for me. pc controls are so annoying. tactical camera is terrible. everything designed just for consoles. my right hand hurts because i have to constantly press right mouse button to see whats going on. i love the graphics, story and all characters. it could really be an amazing pc game but control issues are beyond fixing. i dont think they can fix it with a patch. its a good game with shitty controls. i love bioware and i love their games. i think i have to accept that my era of gaming passed. now they only care about consoles. i am not saying this is a negative thing, its a decision of a company. maybe it is more easy to make a game for consoles. i have no idea. maybe it is more profitable then pc. dragon age origins was the last game for pc from bioware.  only negative thing that i can say about bioware: they realesed a video about how much they care about pc players and i bealived them. now i understand that video was just a marketing movement.

I always wonder, how do they do it? I mean there's got to be people who exploited GOGs non DRM policy and pirates those games. That's gotta hurt financially.

Pirating has little effect on the actual sales of games, since the vast majority of those who pirate games, wouldn't be buying them anyway, even if pirating wasn't an option. That's why denuvo didn't magically double expected sales, and why the Witcher 2 sold millions of copies despite being completely DRM-free. The only people that have problems because of DRM are legit buyers.

I'm not trolling you. I'm saying it's crap design that we can't play the whole game in tactical like DAO and *that's* the way the PC UI was butchered. It's not that we got a crappy action game KBM UI because that's easily fixed by plugging in a controller. Dark Souls had a garbage PC UI but that's easily fixed via controller.
The problem is that Bioware butchered the old DAO style gameplay. If you want to switch between tactical mode and action get a controller - it plays better and controllers easier. This switch can't work on the PC. That's why the UI is borked. There's no making it better.
We need a true isometric UI.

You can have both that is my point and that is why I used Batman Arkham series and the shadow of Mordor game as examples those are third person action games which Dragon age inquisition is trying to also incorporate in addition to having the tactical camera. I am not going to plug-in a controller when it should be perfectly functional with a mouse and keyboard just like Batman and just like Mordor.

I am not suggesting that they only fixed one or the other I am suggesting that they fix both because that actually gives everyone more choice as opposed to just saying screw one camp or the other it makes no sense.

Hell as I have stated multiple times I've already got it technically working pretty much as it should by rebinding attack keys to the c and the shift key on my keyboard which allows me to use wasd and abilities at the same time which makes melee combat function properly. I just would rather bind email to my mouse.

In a nut shell, they are now the antithesis of big corporation (publishers) like EA on almost every single aspect of game development you can think of.

Let's hope they keep that attitude and at the same time make it just as big. Might make other think a ittle.

Maybe on default configurations.  Many people trim down alot of extraneous background apps and services among other things that would mitigate that even more.

Yeah, but this mostly has to do with WDDM 1.3/DXGI optimization for 8.1 that didn't make it into 7 plus Frostbite 3.  BF4 saw the same kind of performance jump.

Thank pirates and DRM (which encourages piracy).

Wow, didn't think there could be so much wrong in one post.

As of 2012, PCs had once again taken over Consoles in terms of Gaming revenue.

And you know what the first two systems to have a cracked version of DA:I were?  I'll give you a hint, PC wasn't one of them.

Games don't cause overheating. Games CAN'T cause overheating. Poor cooling causes overheating. Games can only push your hardware as much as it has been designed to be pushed, and not more.

Sort out your hardware issues instead of blaming it on the game.

Except that everything I have for my computer far exceeds the minimum and even recommended requirements. I have several fans built into my computer, and the case is built to allow cool air in.

This is the only game that has done this.

One of the normal ones* you mean. 1,000 people complaining on a forum when millions of people bought the game hardly makes the people complaining on this forum a majority, and if they were, the game wouldn't have reviewed nearly as well because a large portion of the reviewers would have massively bugged games, which they didn't.

The console versions of the game are quite a bit more stable and bug-free than the PC, and I would assume the console versions make up over half the sales of the game. Most reviewers also had either the PS4 or Xbox one versions of the game to review, a minority reviewed the game exclusively on PC and the ones I read pointed out the technical issues...

Sources? PC gaming is stronger than it has ever been, but I highly doubt it has eclipsed console in terms of revenue.

And about the cracked version? I'd like to know where you came up with that. The PC version is the only version with any kind of actual DRM  :D, which has been cracked already (for the PC version I might add) by some chinese group. Any cracks for consoles so far are rumors, nothing that I've seen so far on the topic actually confirms it. I can't dig too deep because school filter blocks the sites that host these cracks and whatnot.

XB360 was cracked before the PC version. But had so many performance issues that they didn't play much.

I would be interested to see a study showing this. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've no reason to believe that the Witcher 2 would not have sold tens of thousands more copies had it used DRM.

Regarding CD Projekt, my two cents:In a nut shell, they are now the antithesis of big corporation (publishers) like EA on almost every single aspect of game development you can think of.

And that's why I'm spending my money on them now :)

Actually, all we really need is auto attack (and /loot/interact) in Action Cam, and L/R mouse navigation in Action Cam.

Tac Cam, especially the way it currently exits, should not be necessary on pc at all.

Yes I agree.

Huh, I literally did not imagine that. First time I've ever heard of a game's console version being cracked before the PC.

When the poster mentioned this to me, I just had to check it out for myself, but couldn't find much info on it myself :/

Just google it

https://www.google.s...c console sales

The poster I was replying to said that this has been the trend since 2012, though. The article mentions that PC had just eclipsed console revenue starting this year.

Regardless, makes me feel nice and warm inside that now PC gaming is starting to regain the respect it once had from devs/publishers

I agree to this as well. I am able to at least get in the game and play, no crashing issues or anything, and I gotta tell ya, 30ish hours in and I dont think I used the tac cam once. It would be nice, if it was the way DA was, but in its current state, its not even necessary to use. Its actually worthless. They could honestly take the f*n thing out all together IMO..

I'm just pointing out that controller is quite limited compared to M&K, not the other way around (unless you REALLY need analog movement). But what you choose is up to you of course. I use controller quite often myself, but usually only for 2D games.

It's a fair point. When I said action I was thinking something like Devil May Cry.

It would have sold more, but not so much that it would really make a difference, especially for a company that gets tons of positive PR and publicity because of their DRM-free policy. Besides pretty much every independent study (as in those not funded by the gaming industry) that I've read (don't have the links and yes they could be wrong) showed that piracy is not as widespread and financially harming as the gaming industry is portraying it to be. And you have to consider that developing DRMs in and by itself costs time and money, and the bad PR that comes from DRMs (especially the bad ones, like limited number of installs) causes a loss of sales.

For sure. I have a similar setup but a GTX 970 that I just upgraded to, which made all the difference in the world.. I can basically feel it sweating a bit in areas with a lot of water + rain, but nowhere else. With a Titan it should be smooth as silk even with 4k.

The original Titan is slower than a GTX 970, while the Black is somewhat faster. A Titan-Z may do 4K nicely, but so would much cheaper solutions like a Radeon R9 295X2, GTX 780Ti in 2xSLI, or even 2 GTX 970's.

At the very least provide a toggle to the mouse wheel activation of the Tac Cam.  I know I do not like the prospect of accidentally going into tac cam when I try to simply zoom out.
