We'll have to see tomorrow, I don't expect them to overhaul all the PC controls at once, however I do hope they at least put in a walk button and click to move. I would appreciate mouselook and mouse button rebinding however, but, I have my doubts that's going to be in the first patch.

The fact is you are defending DAI as game of the year 2014 despite the poor PC controls and award being judged instead of votes.

Yes, let's pretend that consoles don't exist and therefore there isn't an enormous number of people who thoroughly enjoyed the game on them. Let's pretend there aren't any pc players that can play with a controller without calling for the death of every person involved with the game.
Now that we got that out of our system let's instead not pretend any of those things and judge the game itself for its merits and compare it to other games that came out this year, shall we? Oh, what am I saying, of course we won't, we're pc players damn it! Perfection or death!

And of course I'm defending it. It's not MY game of the year, but lots of people like it.

It's not a bad game. It's a pretty good game with pretty bad pc controls and some need for optimization. I doesn't even stray far from the norm on that regard, does it?

And regarding rigging votes: I don't see why I would need to specify anything - it's pretty damn obvious what I mean - but a few examples come to mind. Like that "person of the year" vote a while back where 4chan organized themselves to vote en-mass and pretty much sabotaged the whole thing (wasn't there an MTV music awards thing too? I think that "Friday" song was involved somehow, not sure). And also the fact that in the end these votes are pretty much totally done behind "closed doors" after the votes are in, aren't they? How difficult do you think it'd be to alter the results? People who don't see the result they expect will complain either way.

EDIT: Since I know that, you being you, you will assume I'm saying this escapist vote is rigged, let me clarify: I'm NOT saying that. It's very likelly completelly legit. I'm saying it CAN be rigged just as much as a judge election can. Also, I'm betting on Shadow of Mordor or Destiny (maybe even Bayonetta 2) taking the title, but I would laugh my ass off at some of the posters on this thread if Dragon Age Inquisiton won.
Of course THEN they would call bullcrap, stupidity of the masses, all that stuff. But I would laugh.

Also, somebody asked him about remapping mouse 3&4 buttons.

No response...

Don't think we'll be getting an overhaul so soon, but we may get a walk key! Honestly that's my major problem with the controls, the other problems are secondary (for my enjoyment) compared to such an immersion breaker, but that's just me.

Sure would annoy me to no end if the patch doesn't touch the PC controls however, might write a whole new thread about it if it happens.

I don't think the game will have proper PC controls until sometime next year sadly, besides while they are hiding on twitter they have enough fanboys to give them the illusion that "PC controls are fine"

Well, he's getting hammered on Twitter about it.

I can only imagine how much worse it will get if there are no pc control fixes.

Can't really read all the pages in this, but have other people been having a problem with the camera jerking around when playing on PC? It keeps switching my direction suddenly and is extremely disorienting and confusing when out exploring. Switching the 'auto-center' camera button thingy in the options doesn't really help either way. I hope it's addressed in this or future patches.

Never had that problem myself, it could be a problem with the mouse itself. I have auto-center switched off btw.

dont discuss with han master, its so unnecessary like talking to a wall :D

here is the question, what is fixing the controls?

total overhaul to dragon age tactical cam (will not happen, at least not yet)

rebindable mouse keys (pretty sure)

when people try to keep their expectations linked to reality there is much less disappointment.

Are you seriously asking that?  Have you been on this forum for longer than a day?

Try this...  go through this thread alone...  start at whatever page you want, and look for the first time posters (usually the single digit counts) that registered just to make a comment on the pc game.  Now tally up all those posts and come up with the top 3-4 issues they ALL mentioned.

That's a start.

Maybe it's because I use the mouse for camera movement and holding down for where I want my character to go instead of using the keyboard buttons. Regardless, I didn't have that problem in the previous games while using the same method of movement. Tried with both auto-center on and off, and one just slightly makes it less jerky, yet still just as frustrating so it doesn't even matter in the end.

We’re committed to providing long-term gameplay and stability improvements. We have already released a Day 1 Patch, and in December we will release our second patch. We expect the patch to roll out on PC, PS3, PS4, and Xbox 360 on December 9, 2014. We are working hard to get Patch 2 out on Xbox One as soon as possible.

Patch 2 is focused on stability, but does include numerous improvements and fixes across the board. Full patch notes will be available soon, but generally Patch 2 includes fixes to:

  • Stability – Various crashes, freezes, audio/voice glitches, and many stability improvements.
  • Gameplay – Conversations, quests, plot states, combat, UI, camera, controls, follower/enemy AI and path finding, exploits, radar, and search.
  • Multiplayer – In addition to some of the gameplay improvements listed above, multiplayer fixes also cover areas such as animations, game mode bugs, stat reporting, and stability/crash fixes.
  • PC – Numerous control & UI fixes, fixes to some hitching, improved Mantle performance, graphical glitches.

Beyond Patch 2 we’ll continue to release patches that focus on gameplay improvements. We’ve already lined up a number of improvements and fixes we’d like to include in Patch 3, and of course we’ll continue listening to you to make sure we’re addressing your concerns.

I wanted to call out a few specific topics as well, as they relate to patches:

  • Keyboard & Mouse controls – Patch 2 includes the first range of fixes towards addressing the feedback we’ve received on the PC controls; it cleans things up so you’ll see fewer problems with the current layout. This gives us a more stable base upon which to work. After Patch 2 goes out, our next priority is to improve the PC mouse/keyboard controls further. We’re investigating how to expand on PC usability and functionality to address specific requests from the community. Keep an eye on this thread by Mark Darrah for more updates.

?

The only way I could move my character using the mouse was using tac cam, which is VERY disorientating for exploration due to its forced angle and zoom.

I didn't explain myself well. I don't mean clicking the ground to move my character, I mean moving the camera while right clicking the mouse and using that to switch my character's direction instead of using the keyboard.

Sounds to me like Patch 2 is tweaking the existing control scheme somewhat and you'll have to wait for patch 3 to get substantive fixes.
