The problem with keyboard/mouse controls in this game is that in most RPG games like MMOs, your character can move their feet (often at a reduced speed) while executing attacks.  In this game, while executing attacks you are locked into the attack animations and effectively rooted to the ground and 'stuck' in the animations until they are finished.

I would imagine they want to get this right. So QA until the man with the big cigar presses the button to release the patch ?

I respect that you are trying to be understanding, but in this instance it's more about a company policy that's not working in our favor. The company is put on working on a patch about 4 weeks prior to release of the game (when it's gone gold and they can't make other changes anymore) and now it's been out 3 weeks or what and they should have been able to throw out a hotfix at the very least after 7 weeks... No, to me it looks like BioWare trying to fix pretty much everything in a single patch, so they don't have to make another.

This isn't as good as it may sound. For one, players have to wait very long and also, they are never going to fix every glitch in such a massive game in a single patch, which means all the other imperfections will just stay broken. A game like this deserves better.

One, read the announcement post.  Two, why does everyone forget the saying about assumptions?

People just keep making their own assumptions and treat it as clear evidence. Geez.

Now I want to call in sick too  (I'm sick of working)...

And be a housewife too...

My wife is the supporter for our family, I stay home and take care of our kid, while she works all day. With mine being young enough, I get a decent amount of play time in most days.

Since you clearly have an inside connection giving you all of this solid intel on how Bioware functions as a company, could you please tell me when the patch is going live so I can plan the rest of my day? It'd also be cool if you could talk to one of the devs and get us some official statements about what's going to be in the patch. Thanks!

I...always thought the C in CRPG stood for "Classic", you know to differentiate it from JRPG. The more you know I guess.

no c stands for ceyboard ;-=

From: http://www.gameinfor...es-content.aspx

The game received a patch on launch day to address some problems, and users should expect another today on every system except Xbox One. That platform’s update should be available soon.

Uhh, really? What issues were those? Do we have any information about what was included in that patch? I'm guessing no, since documentation doesn't seem to be something they're concerned about with this title.

It'd also be nice to see a version number somewhere so I can keep track of things like this.

I read this official announcement a couple of times now, and each time I come across the part where they tell us that they didn't have enough time to implement everything they wanted into Singleplayer, as well as Multiplayer I have to frown. It's an open declaration that they released an unfinished game. Remains to be seen if we have to pay for content they wanted to bring in from the beginning. Yeah, yeah, I know. That's really nothing new, as we can see in countless DLCs. But it feels new to read it so openly. Maybe I'm the only one feeling that way.

Whatever, I hope this patch will at least adress some major problems, though, I definitely count the group talking bug to the major ones. I can't even begin to tell how boring it is, to wander around for hours with not a single word being uttered by your team. Not to mention that you're simply unable to learn more about your crew mates this way. It makes all nine team members flat, unimportant. And to be honest, it annoys the hell out of me ^_^ I mean, beside the constant freezes in start screen when I try to change a single graphic option. Or the dramatic fps drop all the time. Or NPC's (including my own) stuck in video sequences as well as after it - where you have to try to fight while your character stands like a stickman. I can definitely say it looks interesting as an archer. Aw, I nearly forgot to mention the horrible constant sound bugs.

Well, I could go on and on with bugs like that, but I don't want my thread to be this long. Uhm, at what time will the patch be released? Hehe, as if it would matter at this point. We waited 23 days for it. So we can wait a few more hours. Normally I would suggest that we all get a payback. 20 dollars for every one? That would at least soothe the pain of a crazy, cruel, unfinished, beta-like game as this. But hey, it looks pretty. Now I feel much better with this knowledge

Can't wait for patch notes... I really hope I can spend all night playing this game, finally.

I wonder why they talked about "further improving on PC controls." Wonder how much of it will improve on this patch and if they are taking the UI further on a certain direction with said further updates.

Consoles are standardized. PCs can be found in an almost limitless array of hardware configurations. If I can get a build to run on a console it will run on almost every console of that type. Not so with PCs, The very flexibility and capability that drove us to stay invested with our computers drives up development/testing costs. But test a build for PC and you have to test it on a very wide variety of hardware combinations. It is much more difficult, much more expensive, and probably demand for the PC version didn't die out the way it was expected to.

On top of that detail, for years now 'experts' have been forecasting doom for PC gaming. Consoles were going to be the future. Even Microsoft bet on console-like technology with Windows 8. So my guess is that when the requirements document was first drawn up years ago, the expectation was that PCs would by now be largely a fringe market.

Basically my bet is that the future-state prophets blew it when the game was first being designed.

Let me recommend World of Tanks as a way of "killing" time until the patch. Though it differs as wildly from a fantasy RPG as possible, there is something strangely satisfying about blasting away your enemies... something I have been unable to do in DA:I.

Who am I kidding, I am sitting here posting because I really want this patch to fix my game. Kudos to Bioware for at least trying to address the PC control issues so many of us have. If they make my game playable, I'll eat humble pie, and say all sorts of nice things about them. I'll even buy their DLC.

That ought to be worth, something, right?

Funny that INCGamer released their review of DAI yesterday: http://www.incgamers...uisition-review

Which I feel is a fairly honest review, with out the all hype, addressing what is good and what is bad about the game

And today is when the patch comes out, wonder if INCgamer will review the patch after it comes out to see if makes the game any better

Nice, that means I have 50 minutes to finish 15 E&M homework problems.... Yeah, not gonna happen. Focus, Aleph, FOCUS.

The solution is simple; tell your professor that in practice engineers don't solve E&M problems.  We use E&M simulators to do it for us.  If he wants examples; ADS, AWR, HFSS, CST.

(I don't actually recommend this, as learning to solve those problems by hand means you gain greater intuition into the intricacies of the problems.  But you still never solve them by hand.)
