Am I to assume that this new update that happened on my origin is the said Patch?

Will I be surprised or be served another dose of  Casey Hudson's School of Bait and Switch  surprise.... with a cafeteria henchwoman to boot, dipping deep within the slime and slowly dripping its pulpy mixture into my bowl?

My second question actully --

I see that the AMD Catalyst has another update to it, has anyone already downloaded it and does it bring good results?

I'm still holding off playing until there's a patch which makes the game enjoyable for us old-school PC people who insist on tactical combat, but that said...

Thanks, Conal and Bioware for starting to discuss issues with the community!

Ok, on top of the hair problem that's usually something that wouldn't bother me but it's so clearly on a lower spec than anything else it screams for attention, now I have really long loading times. They were usually fast, now they are get out of the pc and go get a snack in time for some more loading screen long. I gave up completely on multiplayer for now over that. Despite my pc running the game pretty smoothly on max everything, I'm also getting insane combat audio lag, and some freezing when engaging that I usually had when I tried to force lower end rigs to play games they couldn't run. The fps goes back to normal pretty fast, but the audio stays bugged. I get in combat and only hear the sound the first skill made while halfway into the fight, and instead of listening to what's happening in the screen after that I keep following the delayed audio until combat ends.

It gets even more annoying because I was having no problems at all before the patch, save the occasional dialogue wheel greyed out that was easy to work around. The only thing the patch did for me was taking a very clean gaming experience and giving it petty issues that while easy to overlook on a few minutes of playing are enfuriating over the course of an hour or more.

The loot menu has full mouse control. You can click on the Take All option or any of the individual items (and the selection follows the cursor).

Cool!  Thanks for that update.

And don't confuse me when I say I plan on waiting.  I absolutely intend to get my money's worth out of the experience.  I'm just as curious to see where they take this story as everyone else was when they paid for it, preorder or not.

Actually planned on starting tonight and learning the damn "shooter RPG" controls, but those pre-patch notes from last night make me curious, especially seeing how little they did for pc users here.  What improvements and fixes do they already have lined up to include in Patch 3?  Exactly how much do they plan on expanding the PC usability and functionality?  Which specific requests from the community are they planning on addressing?

And how soon will *that* patch be out?

I don't know.  I'm disappointed in this patch, but like somebody said, this is a step in the right direction.

I think I'll just redownload the game and deactivate the automatic updates...

Will that work? I know Steam will give you the latest version of a game (ie patched) if you try to redownload it entirely from scratch but I don't know about Origin.

Pretty sure origin forces patches on you.

If you ever updated at all you're going to be out of luck several people in the patch thread have already tried it it invalidates all your save files as being from a previous patch.

Ok let me get this right. I had no problems with the graphics ( look of the environment) on High before the auto update.

After the update  worse graphics - it looked like a 2007 game.

Thank you  to Conal Pierse's fix  - I upped to Ultra and.... its slightly better than after the auto update?

Way to go Bioware.

I tried that, it will not let you play the game until the update is applied. :(

Cancel

Yup.  As long as you cancel the update before it finishes downloading, the game works fine in offline mode.  As long as you don't need to connect to the keep for a new game, or want to play multiplayer.

Yeah, ok, no. Game still crashes on cutscenes (and my nvidia drivers with it). So... yeah, none of my problems are fixed. Great.

So... One month in and ....

No further zoom on the tactical cam

No changes on the controls

No changes on the UI

No walk toogle

No auto attack (Seriously how hard is it to make this? Companions are in auto when you don't control them.)

The loot all, option to disable the zoom out to tactical cam, and crash fixes are nice and all... But the game is still the lazy console port it was.

"Made by PC gamers, for PC gamers" they said...

Yeah right....

Will the command line workaround stop the constant crashing I'm experiencing every few minutes with the new patch? Or is this just for visual improvements?

I had NO issues before the patch, now I do. They are minor tho and so far have not been an issue. 1) First of all I just LOVE the way the hair looks. I created a new character and her hair is still shiny but more natural looking and softer looking. However I had no scars under the scars on creation. The tatoos and everything else seems to work fine in creation but no scars. (let me know if it is on my end). Had scars before. Have not logged into my one created before the patch to see if her scar is still there. 2). While talking to Varric in Haven in the beginning of the game after the initial Chantry scene, his right leg kept looking like it was buckling under him or like he kept stepping in a hole while standing there talking to me. 3) the one I think is the worst is this one. When you first start and the box pops up (to let you veiw something) It used to say use ctrl. Now it says ConceptMenuAltView. So far I have found nothing that is a game breaker but will let other issues be known. I have read some of the "RANTS" that people are doing and feel we need to give them a chance. This is a massive game and how can we expect it to be perfect every time. I used to test mods in DAO and even tho we THOUGHT we had caught every problem someone else would ALWAYS find something, no matter how small, wrong. Everyone sees different things. I have NEVER liked any other game series more than all the Dragon age series. I love Inquisition and cannot wait to see what, if any, DLC;s etc they add on to it. (side stories, more romance, etc, would be wonderful). Just seems that some people have to have something to Complain about.

Must be my system because I have not had the crashing that others have with the new patch and I have not, YET, had any of the other issues, but will keep my eye out for them.

ok hotfix works fine, everything back to normal

didnt expect much for the controls, but still a little dissapointed for no mousekeys. rest is as before for my playstyle, but i have the feeling tac cam works a little better, but cannot say why exactly. got a dragon fight and my party did more what i told them to do

raise in fps with mantle but still a little stuttering, but the cutscenes working better

no crash since patch (but i had not many before patch)

so overall the patch was what i expected, but no positiv surprise. little step in the right direction, not more
