Bioware pretty much had the controls spot on with Origins and Dragon Age II, why on Earth did they feel the need to mess with the formula?
Because the new engine doesn't work the same way, and it's almost certainly a non-trivial task to try to replicate the old controls (even tactical view is a vestigial mockery of Origins' tactical camera).
I agree that it's not the ideal situation, and maybe they'll find some way to improve the current controls (or just face reality and port the console interface over and have the game play the way it was intended), but I'm not sure it's worth waiting for.
Certainly, if you're unable to enjoy the game, not liking it and not playing it are absolutely reasonable reactions. I've been able to mostly overcome my initial hesitance, and although I can firmly state that the controls are awful (and the UX is a new low for BioWare), I can still play and enjoy the game and appreciate what BioWare has done.
