Does it work? Also how exactly would we remove it after the hotfix gets released?
Works for me, and apparently alot of folks too or this forum would be ALOT more crazy right about now.

Yep, just make sure the shader value in the command line matches the mesh value in game = win/profit.
I'm getting better fps from the patch 2 updates, or it could be the Omega update I did at the same time, hard to tell.. High/Ultra (low PPAA/med Tess) with mostly 60fps, also how good is the radar bleep now (not sure why it wasn't like that to begin with haha).
My scars and Scout Harding's freckles are back baby, thank the maker!

BUT, now my game has random frame rate drops and a strange lag that makes it unplayable (for example, I use the mouse to turn my camera, stop, and the camera keeps going for a few seconds. Same with keyboard controls and a lack of response time for clicking on things like companions in sky hold)
EDIT
Ok so after the fifth restart THAT issue is gone now too.....I'm incredibly happy but extremely confused XD

I think the properties window lets you specify arguments to pass to the game on launch (and it's a bit cleaner than going hunting for the executable and hoping you don't screw anything up).
I'm surprised they wouldn't recommend doing it that way, assuming it works.

Is there no way to reinstall the digital version without the update, even with the work around the lag is so terrible it's unplayable.

I am noticing a performance gain from this patch. Even after cranking the settings back up to max on everything and restarting which I didn't think my GTX760 and 4GB of GDDR5 would handle. Then again, I've been in the desert. We'll see what happens when I'm back in the green. Still, well done
Game looks damned good at maximum.

I'm not using the Omega update and I've also noticed better performance with no quality loss (with workaround)

Nice, looks like AMD have stepped up their game, if only VSR was available to 7970 Ghz owners (sigh.. 980 upgrade still looking good! lol).

Did you use the workaround? If not, your shader quality is much lower than it should be, which could be influencing performance.I am noticing a performance gain from this patch. The desert is far less demanding visually than some of the other environments. Terrain detail and vegetation will probably be murdering you soon.

And.... lets see... Haven't died during a simple fast travel as of late... but I suspect it was my jump from an HD7850 to a HD7970... but more less now. I can travel without gritting my teeth.
For my fellow AMD-ers --- did you all get the latest catalyst download?
I actually use an HD7850 and I've been getting very decent performance with it. I have the beta drivers from a few weeks ago, I overclock the gpu and the vram, and I use the 60 fps cutscene fix. No problems with crashes or anything, and I get framerates in the 40s and 50s usually, with most settings on high (MSAA and Ambient Occlusion are off).
Before the patch I was getting better framerates using DirectX11 instead of Mantle. Maybe I'll download the newest drivers and give Mantle another shot, but I have a feeling it will be the same result.

Hi
Thanks for the information. When you mention that the game slideshows at 25% resolution. That got me thinking. I tried to run the game at 4K resolution and it was also a slideshow. Common causes are shadows and particle effects. Can you try turning those off and leaving everything else as per normal?
- Exceeds reccommended (FX-8320, 8GB G.Skill DDR3-1866, AMD HD-7970, ASUS M5A99FX Motherboard)
- Yes, but I've tried downclocking all to stock
- They were, I'm now in the process of updating to the newest AMD Chipset and Video drivers
- I've closed most of the background processes
- No, I doubt that's it though
- No, it's only a few months old and hasn't given me any issues in the past
- Cooling is fine, CPU stays under 45c, Motherboard lower than that, GPU stays under 55c
- Like, a week or two ago. The side of my case is open right now and I see no real dust build up yet
There is no change in the framerate between Ultra settings and Very Low settings. Only thing that stops the slideshow is if I set the resolution scale to 25% at low settings. I used to get the DirectX_Hang error almost instantly until I edited my registry to wait longer for the GPU to respond.
EDIT:
When I say slideshow, I mean 1 frame every few seconds. In cutscenes, and in game. Unless I'm looking at the ground, than the framerate nearly reaches 200..
EDIT2:
New drivers make no difference :/

So a lot of bug have been fixed.
But the game is still unplayable on PC.
Not really the patch I was hoping for...
Agreed

So... One month in and ....
No further zoom on the tactical cam
No changes on the controls
No changes on the UI
No walk toogle
No auto attack (Seriously how hard is it to make this? Companions are in auto when you don't control them.)
The loot all, option to disable the zoom out to tactical cam, and crash fixes are nice and all... But the game is still the lazy console port it was.
"Made by PC gamers, for PC gamers" they said...
Yeah right....

Sounds more like a Nvidia issues. Suggest running on a single card. I'm on a single GTX780 and the game rarely dips below 30fps. A single 970 should do better.
Anyway just a sidetrack, I used to SLI 2xGTX580 but it got so hot and both cards needed constant care and attention to temps that I simply gave up and went back to a single card solution without problems.
Well....Just updated and loaded my game. Still having the SLI opaque white fog problem. Ugh. Is this more of an issue for Nvidia and not Bioware? It kind of makes the game unplayable in parts. I really didn't have any other issues in most other areas of the game as I have a pretty decent rig (i7 4790, 970 sli), and it was running fine. I was really hoping this would get fixed. Does anyone have any insight into this issue?

With the workaround, I'm tempted to download the patch, but then I see everyone who can no longer connect to EA servers. I'll just keep waiting for the hotfix and see reactions and decide what to do then.

I had to reboot when I went to work, thank **** I didn't run into this. Just had the same graphics issues as everyone else and the command line fixed that.
