Well I can't speak for IGN's reviewer but I haven't had a problem with dragon age (in game) except every now and then the DirectX bug mentioned before so perhaps they haven't had any pc problems and I think that perhaps the dev team haven't had any where near the level of buggyness that we've had

Well, since this appears to be a constructive thread for feedback, I think I'll move some of my thoughts here from another thread.  Please pardon the length of this initial post.  I really want to give the developers an idea of where I'm coming from, and comment on the bugs I've found while going back to Thedas.

To get this out of the way: Inquisition is amazing so far, all in all.  The story is great, the dialogue is awesome, and the combat is pretty fun.   I'm not here to knock nor be unappreciative to the hard work the devs have done.  Thanks for opening this thread.   :)

Secondly, specs and set up.   :)  :

Spoiler

Now, onto a few bugs I've found so far.  I only started playing as of tonight, and I'm now gathering quests in Haven.

For multiplayer, can we please choose to unbind basic attack from left-click. It's frustrating when I left-click to select a target in the distance to get ready for a snipe, and I also have to fire an arrow to do so. We already have a separate button for auto-attack ®, I don't need it on left-click as well.

So glad I found this, I'm crying from joy.

For PC players what we would like is to right click the ground and have who we're controlling move, able to zoom in while in combat (I hate how it automatically zooms out), hold both right and left mouse buttons to move, AUTO ATTACK for sure, clicking on our heroes makes us switch to them instead of only on their portraits. FPS stuttering for me also with a GTX 760 card.

Please Mark or someone from Bioware read this..!

I wrote here a while ago about my concerns, but now I have actually played the game...and for me with a wrist injury it is PAINFUL to play. I don't mind the WASD controlling because I did that in Origins...but that the camera is barely able to turn with the mouse? It seriously hurts me.

The other controls...I mean they are not good but it's playable. It's a shame that that's it, the game is PLAYABLE. Because the story is great so far.

But my number one concern is the dumbed down tactics, seriously Bioware!
Please make a patch and give us the real tactics back!
In the other games I spend so much time making my team behave the way I want, and it was great! And with a game that is as "main character focused" as this one, we need the other 3 in the party to function on their own.

Beside the obvious, the controls on the PC being far from perfect, my other concern is that the behaviors or tactics is dumbed down beyond belief.

It was one of the most innovative systems ever introduced in western RPG's. Why would you water it down, it just boggles my mind?

As the poster above me, I would also spend hours setting the behavior of my party, before going further and it was beautiful.

Without proper tactics, we can not 'stop' our mages and ranged running into a melee group of enemies, which is always so frustrating.

Also, the "hold" command is not working. When you tell your party to hold, they just come after your main character anyway, and it is so lame.

Cheers and I hope we get those things patched up ASAP.

Spare me your false concern, you were fully aware of these issues before launch yet you did nothing about it, this is not your first PC game you ever released. Those issues should have been resolved before the god damn launch, now you make us wait for your patches and you will take your sweet time because we allready paid for the game.

if its anything like the ME3 extended ending, in 3-4 month, quick fix/patch say its done and then try pretend its fixed or there was no problem at all and people are just whiney

Well, we are talking about a major error that makes the game unplayable for lot's of people, not some "new" ending for people who didn't like it. This patch is much more urgent than that extended ending was.

First a thank you for reacting at all.

Now if I can just get the Skyrim PC-controls, a working and usable tactical mode and the possibility to personalize at least some of my 17 mouse buttons, I`ll be fine. :P

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion and your admirable patience, I would very much like to disabuse anyone/everyone at Bioware who happens to read your suggestion I have quoted above as anything more than a non-professional opinion that does, in fact make matters worse and not work - and we have some VERY BIG celebrity names clinging to the "no comment" policy who are being brought down very publicly at this moment, even so far as to lose their high profile and lucrative income streams for following such a policy as you opine.

I simply know how much work goes into these matters and communication on something like this is VERY difficult to get right. If they instantly come out with "Yeah we're fixing it!" and dont have a timeframe (something that needs to be discussed with devs) then people will get pissed. If the timeframe is too long then people will get pissed. Online communication is the biggest damned if you do damned if you dont. Theyre not doing a no comment policy, theyve replied and Im willing to bet $100 that there have been meetings on how to solve this issue, BioWare isnt stupid and neither is EA.

Are you kidding me?  So we're to blame because we bought the game on launch day?  Hey everyone...this guys thinks its ok for Bioware to release a sh***y product, and patch weeks or months later.  The occasional bug I get, your right it can be corrected and is to be expected.  But lousy control set up, no click to loot, needing to use WSAD to navigate and explore...it feels like the PC was an after thought.  That's enough to make me want to return the game....

BTW if you bought this on Origin they will allow you to return it within 7 days of launch.  Regardless of when you DL'ed it.  Just get on chat with customer support, and they will give you a full refund.

Nobody blamed anyone. First off, its not a shitty product. It looks great, runs great and the bugs Ive encounted are minor and few. Your comment of 'patch weeks or months later' is based on **** all. They could patch it tomorrow, monday or as is common for BioWare on tuesday.

I agree, the controls are lousy but not unplayable. It annoys the **** out of me that I cant use my LMB+RMB to move but until they fix it Ill live with it since its a minor inconvenience. I think BioWare certainly dun goof'd on their part, not nearly enough to cause this much outcry though

Interesting.  I had no idea there were standards as a "gamer" that one should aspire to meet, as if "gamer" was some sort of job occupation.  Weirdly, I had this idea that it was all about deriving as much enjoyment as possible from the challenges presented by the story, ideally without being distracted by challenges presented by the controls.  Lesson learned; I now consider myself to be edumacated.

It was a comment to the people who say this game is literally unplayable because its not. If the controls are that much of a challenge that you cant play the game then honestly you probably have bigger issues to worry about.

Like so many others I will not buy this game until the PC controls are fixed and I feel sorry for those that did.

It has unfortunately become the norm for game developers to make the PC version of a game as an afterthought without any effort to make it good. The PC has the potential of being the best gaming platform by far but publishers like EA and Ubisoft simply doesn't care.

Well, this time I'm voting with my wallet. I won't buy the game until the issues raised by PC gamers are addressed and I hope no one else here will either.

It's a shame that a company that used to represent the pinnacle of PC gaming has fallen so far.

No need to feel sorry for me, the game is great on my PC. And mine isn't even a high-end machine.

My first time posting here and wanted to share my thoughts... I would really like to enjoy this game but I can't due to the controls. Sure it's not completely unplayable, but it sure does take the enjoyment out of the game. Along with terrible UI, framerate issues, game breaking bugs, and crashes that other PC gamers are having. It really makes me wonder if they even tested it on PC before release? As a loyal Bioware fan and a PC gamer, I find the current state of the PC version of this game to be unacceptable. I will give them SOME credit for "looking into these issues" but some of these issues shouldn't even be here in the first place.

Ya know, I think it's utterly amazing over the last 4 days how many times I've come back to this thread and seen yet another person with a 1 post count saying they either refuse to purchase or to keep playing until the pc controls are fixed.  I think if someone were to take the time to go back through and count, the results would be staggering.

In a perfect world, the person who was in charge of the current scheme should be forced to do it. lol

im confused how a lot of gaming sites like ign gave it such good reviews with the state the pc controls are in.  Everything else is good, but its like they totally ignored the pc issues in their reviews.  Maybe they all played with a controller....

I think it's rather obvious, don't you?

I wrote here a while ago about my concerns, but now I have actually played the game...and for me with a wrist injury it is PAINFUL to play. I don't mind the WASD controlling because I did that in Origins...but that the camera is barely able to turn with the mouse? It seriously hurts me.

I remember your posts.  I think it seriously sucks on Bioware's part that the current control scheme was OK'd considering it's effect on disabled people who can't even make the attempt, or just those who can't do it for any amount of time without pain.  It's blatant ignorance when you stop and think about it because the previous 2 games that THEY MADE did not have this requirement.

And what ticks me off the most about your situation, is you are in pain and still playing because you clearly love the game, but you get past it, you power through and then get punched in the face by **** tactics.  I'm not playing the game, I still refuse to and am waiting for a patch, but I can't believe you're not even more livid about it.  That us unforgivable, IMO.  If I were you I'd have given up long ago and demanded a refund.  Kudos to you.

My take 2 on the UI, again i'm no designer, artist, whatever and i suck at photoshop (i used paint.net for a quick and dirty fix) and those are my ideas you are free to disagree with them, i dont give a flying sex act :D.

Also, there should be no keyboard allowed in the interface (aside from esc button to get out), no dpad like navigation, only the mouse and everything designed around it.

Inventory, should be used with classic drag and drop, right click to equip, basic stuff really (the portraits are not my idea, someone mentionned it here):

yJbpYM3l.jpg

Abilities, looks dirty but more usable than before, some larger trees obviously need some overhaul (size, shape, those books are also ginormous, there's a way to get some vertical space here too), note the heavy use of tooltips, those also need a new more readable smaller font, a nice background to add contrast etc...

The "tactics" menu becomes useless with the ability to use checkboxes to enable/disable A.I near the skill bar.qdcFUVPl.jpg

Potion Upgrades.

Yest this screen there, full of useless screens, clicking and whatnot. Notice how it can all fit nicely on one screen.

eWU9gYal.jpg

Team selection, yeah f*ck those cards and consolesque scrolling. I want this in all its frostbite 3 glory (also because it would add continuity and coherence between the 3 games).

Seriously guys; played hundreds of hours of Kotor and DA1, DA2; Mass Effect 1, 2, 3 on PC with KB&M; it was perfect. 10 minutes of DAI and I had to plug in my controller.

Now, I dont hate playing with the controller; I prefer it for non-shooter games in fact; but I do have a problem with the UI.

Everything is HUGE and hidden; like I cant even see the stats of a weapon without pressing an extra X key; then one more X to compare with my current weapon; which completely covers the screen and I cant scroll through the weapon list anymore...

I sit 2 feet away from my 35" 21:9 monitor; there is so much real estate on my monitor being used to display 3 lines of text!

DAO had a amazing UI; its not like Bioware has to reinvent the wheel; even a copy paste of that UI would be cool.. while I understand that creating a separate UI for PC is extra work; Its a very important part of the experience...

Just some constructive criticism; I do love the game and overall the future looks good for Bioware RPGs!

Exactly! The fact that I cannot set the behaviour is just stupid and so frustrating. I want to tell them to attack the mages first (for example) and to do a certain attack depending on the situation, like with cross clash combos.  I loved the tactics in Origins and in DAII. This...this is to stupid for me. Why make a game with violence and sex and then have the tactics set to cater to 5 year olds? "Do this! But don't do that! Oh and do this a lot!!"

And the Hold button did not work properly in DAII, it's worse in DA:I. That is just terrible.

So much for this being a tactics focused game, it feels more like a hack and slash to me..
And not even a functioning hack and slash since the enemies move...and my character doesn't. And even if I manually move her, she needs to finish waving her daggers around first like an idiot. Seriously, to me it looks like she's closing her eyes  and is just waving her arms around hoping to hit something that is not a tree, an ally or herself...

Bioware...your players deserve better from you!

He did say that while the m&kb controls didn't outrage him, he did think they felt 'off'. I really wonder why he didn't think to mention that in his review given that RPS is ostensibly a PC-focused site, and m&kb is the primary input mechanism for many pc-gamers, but he didn't.

All I can say is that this reinforces my belief, developed after DA2, that professional critics are simply coming from a totally different viewpoint and value totally different things than matter to me, and seemingly many other regular gamers.

Look to advertising dollars to see the focus on readership. Money is a great insulator. The media seem out of touch.

I read one of the negative reviews from a journalist that received an advance opportunity to play the game. He slammed DA3 for aspects cRPG players would immediately associate with functions of role-playing. Imagine that. It's a bad game because it has RPG elements to it. Talk about out of touch. Then again, what is Bioware doing approaching such out of touch media unless they, too, are out of touch?

What I have been reading since DA2 are problems caused by being out of touch.

Ultimately, if this marketing strategy is successful, it will attract gamers who are not in touch with cRPGs and alienate those who are.

There are many positive comments on Metacritic for the PC version of DA3 (rating DA3 at 5.2 and dropping) being left by posters who identify themselves as playing DA3 on a console....

That is why dedicated professionals exist in an specialized communications industry. You are right about the difficulty when it is left to people who do not know what they are doing or to professionals who have their hands tied by people who do not know what they are doing. You are VERY right. And this is not the first failure of Bioware in the last 5 years of case study how not to do it.

In short. do as you say and say what you do is good advice.

The technical term for the communications policy I referred to as the Bioware mode is Public Be Damned.

Hey,  I have some information about NVIDIA GPUs

If some of you getting "nvidia kernel driver has been stopped and recovered" on Win7, maybe this official NVIDIA link can solve

your issue.

https://forums.gefor...ddmkm-stopped-/

Know that, this problem is present since 270.xx drivers which many people suggested different solutions and some of them worked for

some people while others still suffering from this annoying issue. I also got this for long time, nothing really solved my problem and

after 2 years of searching for a fix, I'm forced to buy an AMD/ATI Radeon card, because this crap started to happen days ago again

somehow and my 4 years old GTX470 is completed his life by causing extreme BSODs at start, so I have an AMD card now, and works good.

This is a driver-PC-related problem and many things can cause the issue

-Old/Unstable HD Audio Drivers

-Extremely Overclocked GPUs

-Overheat/Dust

-Insufficient Power from Power Supply Unit

-Wrong installed driver settings

-Unstable RAMs

There's really no exact fix for this issue, but you can try few things at least

1. Change the Power level from Power Settings/Control Panel to High Performance

2. Clean any dust on your GPU card as well as HDDs

3. Make sure your have enough PSU for your card, since NVIDIA cards consumes more power than AMDs- minimum 500W is required

4. Re-plug your GPU into same slot or switch second slot if you have second one

5. Make sure your Physical Memory (RAM) cards put correctly into correct slot on Motherboard

6. As a last resort, try your GPU on different PC

Golden Tip: Some users has reported that their problem is solved by deleting a trojan called "Bitcoins/Mining"  I highly recommend

download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free version and scan the whole system. This trojan also can be found on C:/Temp  with a weird

long file names. Scan that directory and/or delete this files manually. (but this way not recommended)

Hope this helps

Hotfix for freezes and crashes (both dual and quad core get those, mind you) should be top priority. I've played many games, where stuff like that arrived on the next day. And this is EA, they HAVE resources.

I play DA3 on pc whit an xbox360 controller and have no problem, the controlls are very good, its been a while since i play a pc game with actuall keyboard so i dont really miss it. DX11 also works without problems for me at ultra settings, no frame losses even in big figths, its the mantle option the one i think needs work, because the games become very laggy.

The bugs i have encountered are minor ones:

1.-The templar boss in the last mission on heaven dont atack me if i keep turning the machine pressing A.

2.-If you jump and talk with someone at the same time your character get stuck in a falling animation, it is reverted talking again.

3.-Sometimes dialogue option dont appear on characters on main maps, for example it happen to me whit Hawk on the grey warden cave. This causes other bug if you try to talk whit another character that requires a cutscene you will be stuck forever in that cutscene without dialogue option, the only solution is a reload. It only happen to me once.

4.-In the future past kind scene when leliana sacrifece her self, my male character gets make up in his face, it was hilarius but inmersive breaking XD

5.- when i quit the game, after quite some hours of play, and select go to the main screen the game freezes on the main screen.
