No, Origin asked me if I want to overwrite them from Cloud and boom, saves are gone..

Not a big deal, I will start over in february when more patches will be released. Back to modded Skyrim, DAO and over 30 more games on Steam

Pretty much why i disable this feature for every game on steam (and origin ofc) sometimes the save version gets screwed and you end up with an old one (or none at all).

Damn, so sorry to hear that. It happened to me as well. Terrible implementation of a cloud save system.

Even after your so called patch, DAI is as bad as it was before. Did a completely separate team work on Mass Effect ? Because that series of games was made very well and worked fine and intuitively when I played it via mouse and keyboard on my pc.

Now when I went to try switching DAI controls from M+K to gamepad, NOTHING WORKS !!!

My PC GAMEPAD (Logitech Dual Action) has maybe two buttons working. None of which scroll through any of the menus!!!

AND NOW MY MOUSE AND KEYBOARD DON'T WORK AT ALL!!

Switching from Mouse & Keyboard to gamepad COMPLETELY DISABLED ANY FUNCTIONALITY OF THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD !!! I CAN'T EVEN BROWSE THROUGH THE MAIN MENU TO SWITCH MY CONTROLS BACK !!!

HOW DO I CHANGE MY CONTROLS BACK ??

BETTER YET, HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING A REFUND FOR THIS BROKEN GAME ???

that's what happens when a company is to lazy to do a true PC game instead of a poor and rushed port of a console game.

Deal with it =(

PS: you can go to some .cfg file in your install folder and change the controller value to 0 if i'm not mistaken...

or you can try this:

Go to: Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save  and move file ProfileOptions_profile to your desktop, unplug controller and start game (game should generate default ProfileOptions_profile file), dont know if it helps...

So still no fix/patch for stuttering cutscenes they promised back in November.. And now also origin just screw my saves and I lost them all.. I will never again use Origin Cloud ;-/ Back to other games for now, maybe in next two months BW will actually make it more PC friendly like DAO or even DA2 was...

the same as you , what is killing me some people say that the 60fps fix - half fix - is working great for them ..

Honestly, I am incredibly disappointed in this patch. Before this point, I was playing at 30 fps on medium-high settings, now my computer is struggling with low settings and cutscenes are stuttery and laggier than ever. My character attacks and then randomly stops and stands there as if confused. Which I would be too if my hair was suddenly uber shiny and my facial features disappeared.

I am unsure what to do. My computer is more on the medium end but as I said, it ran okay before. Right now the game on Low is running like it did before the patch if I set everything to Ultra but worse somehow. Cutscenes randomly freeze, characters seem to forget what gravity is for and how their bodies work and where they are in space. How did this even happen?

Sorry to beat the Dead Horse that is Bioware. But this is an asinine design decision. Don't use the FB3 engine as an excuse because BF4 has the ability to have Controllers and KB/M active at all times. There should not be a toggle on/off for input devices what happens if your controller runs out of batteries and you don't have any more in your home lol..Or as this poor gamer above has encountered...Your bizarre design decisions are really negatively impacting all of  your PC customers.

This is what happens when a Dev tries to take shortcuts.

Playing on PC, Nvidia card. Patch hasn't resulted in any of the issues in this thread for me, which is odd. I seem to be perfectly fine. Better than fine, actually, I haven't crashed all day except when I tried to ultra everything in the graphics menu then I started to get the dx crash again. That still needs fixing. Otherwise, it's an awesome patch for me ;x

I too am using a Nvidia card on my PC. Aside from a minor issue with the scars and Varric looking like he was tripping in a hole when I was talking to him in Haven, I have had no issues either. Have not crashed before or after patch. Very pleased with the results of this patch.

You should be able to unplug your controller. The game will then say "No controller detected, reverting back to keyboard controls" or something along those lines.

Otherwise (unless your game pad is actually broken, or you've pressed the mode button by accident) you should be able to scroll through menus with the l or r stick.

I'm running:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Intel Core i5-4570 @ 3.20GHz

8.0GB RAM

AMD Radeon R9 280X (drivers up to date)

Inquisition ran perfectly fine until I installed patch 2, when it became completely unplayable thanks to the stuttering and freezing. After I installed the hotfix, I also ran ccleaner which seems to have helped a little, but it's still stuttering and freezing, and it doesn't look as good as it used to. I tried rolling it back but the patch was still there somehow. (Clearly I've messed up along the way).

Is there some way I can just download the game without any patches and start from there? I just wanna play my game again. I was really enjoying it (hence the 150+ hours I've played)

Thanks.

Still getting crashes to desktop and freezing after patch. I'm  amazed myself that I've put 50+ hours into the game dealing with this.

Think I'm gonna take a break until after Christmas and hope they fix it by then, otherwise I'll probably lose interest in the game if the crashes keep happening.

the same as you , what is killing me some people say that the 60fps fix - half fix - is working great for them ..

Here's a big mistake that I made with that workaround:  I didn't set the refresh rate correctly.  If you fire up Inquisition and go to your Display settings, it will tell you what your exact monitor refresh rate is.   You're going to want to check in game for this, there is no way to check for the exact integer on Windows 7.  Maybe there's a program out there, but going through the game is easiest.

So check that setting in game.  For example, if it says 60, set the command line to 59.99 were appropriate.  If it says 59.95, set the command line to 59.94.  The monitor settings should be always set to default, but if you're uncertain (like I was,) change all of your settings to default.  You can change them back after you're certain of your monitor refresh rate.

I would highly encourage folks to at least take a look at this thread.  Between that and doing a clean uninstall/reinstall of my drivers, there is little to no stuttering, even in cutscenes.  It'll take some messing with settings, but it did work for me.  Just please be polite to the OP.  They've been really kind and helpful to a lot of posters.

it saddens me to hear so many negative comments , I am sure you have chased many players away from the game, or from even trying it, and to me it is a great game, needs a few patches but a great game all the same . Now some will never try it because of the input here. Now that is truly sad.

I'm not sure if its just me, or if anyone else can confirm, but since I've started using the workaround for 60fps cutscenes, the temperature of my graphics card has dropped dramatically.

With the fans all the way up, it usually hovers around the 70 mark while playing Inquisition. Now, it hovers between 45 - 55. I'm guessing the surge of going from 60+fps in-game, all the way down to 30fps for cutscenes, then all the way back up really annoys the GPU lol.

Seems that way.  Temp is around 50 now and yesterday around 70-75 which booted me out of the game right on to the desktop regulary.  After cooldown period I could play some more until next boot out ect.   Played for 2 hours strait and temp was 50 after I ended my games session.

If you are having performance issues post patch, here are some steps you can try. Let me know if the issue persists.

Finally, I was able to fix the freezing/stuttering issue that I've been seeing since the hotfix.

I have tried the suggestions below,

Different strokes have worked for different folks.  Your best bet is AHQ.  But here's a not-comprehensive list:

  • reboot after patching
  • uninstall driver, run CCleaner, install latest drivers (14.12 for AMD, 344.80 for NVidia)
  • clear Origin cache
  • run Origin repair
  • Uninstall DirectX, reinstall DirectX
  • Install Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 update 4
  • Make sure all anti-viruses are in game mode
  • Make sure there are no background processes running (even the Windows weather gadget is causing stuttering on some boxes)
  • Make sure Origin overlay is disabled and Origin set to offline
  • Mouse sensitivity set to 75%
  • remove any command line arguments you had for workarounds

That's all I notepad'ed.  I'm sure there's more.

sadly none of them worked in my case. Just before losing all my hope about playing before a possible patch 3; I tried to run the game in windowed mode. Stuttering and freezing magically fixed. After 1-2 mins, I switched to windowed fullscreen. Performance was the same, all good. Finally, switched to fullscreen and I have no problem so far.

To summarize, all I did was to change the display into windowed mode then switch back to fullscreen. Sadly, I have to do it every time I launch the game but better waste a couple mins other than watching a slideshow.
