Lol what. You won't play without the ability to walk? How does walking help in any situation? The only thing it would be used for is it to say "oh look I can walk". You won't use it at all in the main areas like the hinterlands, unless you want to spend a few hours walking to your destination

To a lot of people it enhances role play.

After all in your house to you run everywhere? No of course not, so why should the Inquisitor run everywhere while in their 'home'.

^ The walk/toggle

Bioware recently posted officially that the reason party banter was done the way it was (random, distributed around 150 hrs of gameplay, evolving per your decisions, etc) was for the game to be more immersive.

A lot of video game consumers like immersion and will consider it a factor on the decision of whether or not to buy a game.

The walk/run toggle's main reason for existing in this game and many others is also for immersion.

Seriously guys, all you bioware apologists that tell us, pc players, that the walk/run toggle is not a big deal, you clearly don't get the point. If someone is fine without it, then yey for you, but stop thinking that your preferences should be everybody's.

Here is a video showing the cutscenes problem that I've been  always talk about , bear in mind that i'm using all the 60fps fixes ,

as you see the first cassandra's cutscenes where is the problem , Is someone really managed to get this particular cutscenes to run on 60 fps ???

i mean like the second where you can see the 60 fps crystal clear ..????????!!!!

I was using the 60fps fix pre-patch 2 and found I needed it--but I actually had to remove it to get my cutscenes to work properly/fix remaining stuttering after the patch (and after all of the other things I noted up the thread). My cutscenes are as smooth as Steve Valentine's low timbre now and run at the same rate as my game (which is >30fps). I even see the song cutscene perfectly in synch, when it lagged (even with the fix) before.

Have you tried it w/o the fix? Seems counter-intuitive, I know, but worth trying.

When i played the mission before the final battle, i was freaking out running everywhere. It killed that awesome scene. As it killed the mission in the Winter Palace and the beginning when you wake up and there is the people of haven waiting for you.

Sometimes i'd gladly walk through the Hinterlands or other places.

It was obvious that the walk/toggle wasn't going to be in the Patch 2, too many bugs and issues with people who couldn't actually play the game (and can't). But that doesn't mean that it is a secondary issue for us RPG lovers.

This reminds me of when BioWare took weapon holstering out of Mass Effect 3. Memory limitations, they said. Was very immersion breaking. Having to walk around a friendly military camp with my weapon pointed at absolutely everyone... it doesn't feel right! Just like this game, where certain situations feel weird without the ability to simply walk. I played mostly with a gamepad, so it wasn't as big of a deal, but when I did play with K+M I felt the pain.

Hahahah... !

The "funny" thing, which is really not funny, is that my game was graphically stable and playable until this "patch". I just had some crashes, because of battle, mainly.

But now it is even worse. Graphics are blinking, and it is not playable at all ! Bioware ! What have you done ???

I want my game back !

I do not know if it is from Bioware's patch or from the latest graphic driver, but that's not cool at all !

EDIT : I spoke a bit faster than I should... the game is more stable than what I thought first and is playable. but sometimes graphics are blinking

Yeah... The first time I walked out of the keep at Haven, I saw all these people gathered near the entrance. I SPRINTED in that direction, while I meditated on the recent events. People started to whisper things like "That's the Herald of Andraste." I could not bear the idea of looking them in the eye while I SPRINTEEEDDD past them, as in any way did I feel like a sword of The Maker's prophet...

And there she was... her strength and inner fire had captivated me the first time I laid eyes on her. Cassandra stood there, with the resolve and passion of a hundred men. I SPRINTEED!!!!!!!!!! towards her, while I thought carefully of the words I would choose with her.

But.. ****, SPRINTTTT how what I must look like a fool to her SPRINT SPTRRINGNGNT AHH where am I??? What am I holding? Whats this tablet of buttonzzzz and why are this controls so baddddddd what I'm in California ahwa SPRINTTTTTTTT ahhhhH!!!!!!ksdlfjlds

yea... it f**** sucks!!!

You and your freaking sprint button. Has DA:O a walk key? No, The Witcher (1) ? No. You all want the classic feeling. Here you have it. I go and walk around the world with my controller.

What a bad example. Both games has option to walk.

I just made a DW Rogue. Because of the issues I had only made KE Mage or Rogue archer. OMG these controls are really. really bad!

Total console. Felt so dumb trying to fight. Like I am wearing boxing gloves. What were they thinking when they released this. I will shut up now!

p.s. Don't say I will get used to it, I just played BG 2 yesterday after many years. That is a shift from Origins but not like this.

If BioWare is going to make it possible for us to rebind keys to mouse buttons, then I sure hope they also provide an option to bind secondary keys. That way, I can bind keys to both the hotbar number and a mouse button, instead of just one or the other. Mass Effect, for instance, had this.

I'm playing one myself on nm with ff and it definitely takes patience. It did help to rebind my keys. I'm using EDSF rather than WASD. W for attack, G for interacting with stuff, R for stealth, Q for twin fangs until I spec into shadow strike, A for flank attack, and T for deathblow.

Edit: Nug hunting made easy

The absence of a walk toggle doesn't bother me at all. I'd never use it. What bothers me personally is the reason for its absence. it shows like nothing else, how this engine they chose is designed for consoles only.

Cool. I would use Razer Naga, but until they fix bindings can't do that. Will investigate mapping a few keys tho. Thanks

I had a scan through the bioware posts, but couldn't find anything. Is there any news on changing the tactical camera to a DA:O style, which removes ceilings and allows zooming out? Is this even possible in the engine they've used?

Trying to fight in tunnels right now is driving me crazy.

Np ;) . I ditched my Naga wasn't a fan of the Synapse software and that whole online drm for peripherals nonsense.

Yes, this is how it would work, if they actually do it.  This seems to be something that got swept under the rug 3 years ago and never emerged because nobody in the office was using a mouse to play the pc version.

You *should* be able to bind any action listed in the Keybinding section to your additional mouse buttons, including the scroll as a middle button.

The L and R buttons are slightly different, as they usually are defaulted for Select, Attack, and Hold=Rotate Camera.  Oddly enough, we have a "swap" L/R function, which doesn't really make it better...

My keyboard has 104 keys on it so I'm sure that one of them could have been used to toggle walk\run. You see a keyboard isn't quite as limiting as say a console controller for example.

OK we wait weeks for a patch and it doesn;t fix the cut scene crash bug, fantastic. Just had it crash twice within a few minutes during vital scenes.

ETA: make that 3 times and even when I was spacebaring through them.

Yes perhaps in particular scenes it does. What I was really meaning is that someone won't play it at all because it doesn't have a walk/run toggle?? It's a very small problem. And I have no idea how that could ruin an entire game for someone.

So, please guys, does anyone knows when is patch 3 landing? Any ETA from Bioware, even just an early assumption, anything?? Again, please.

Thanks for the help, everyone.

No ETA as patch 2 just came out but hopefully it doesn't take another 3 weeks.

Many people can't play and many others don't want to play until they get a walk button(myself included).

Not sure how they plan to handle this as Patch 2 wasn't a majority remedy for people. Meaning Patch 2 hasn't yet accomplished the goal it set out to. This fact will not speed up the release of Patch 3. Unless of course they plan to integrate the two together. Which I would very much like to be optimistic for but don't believe that will be happening. For the latest and arguably best chance at finding the news related to patches before you see it here I would take Brogan's advice in the Patch 2 thread and follow Mark Darrah on twitter.
