Yes perhaps in particular scenes it does. What I was really meaning is that someone won't play it at all because it doesn't have a walk/run toggle?? It's a very small problem. And I have no idea how that could ruin an entire game for someone.

Then clearly your not a RPG player or a PC gamer otherwise you would not have to ask such a question because for a PC Gamer who plays RPG's its a big damn problem, I'd suggest you go back to playing simpleton games like Call Of Duty

It's all about personal preference, some like chocolate, some like peanut butter and some even like them combined. I think it shouldn't be that big of a deal for them to implement it if people want it.

Ah yes so I see you are projecting here.  You think its no big deal.  Yet you lack the knowledge about the amount of resources necessary to address your tiny concern.  Picture an amount of money and time and people taken from other tasks (opportunity cost) and then multiply that by like ten.  That might get you in the neighborhood.

It could mean longer times to decent DLC for single player and multiplayer not to mention a whole host of other more important fixes.  Yes it might be mutually exclusive because they will not hire a team specifically to do what you want.  It requires sacrifice in other areas almost all of which are more meaningful.

Yeah, I'm sure all their programmers have to work hard for weeks to figure out the mystery of how to add a walk button.

Well apparently they thought that had it in, but it had to be pulled from the first patch because it wasn't working correctly.

At least that was the info from Darrah's Twitter.

As frustrating as it is to have to wait for something so basic, I'm glad they at least decided to wait instead of introducing another buggy element into the game. Hopefully they'll have it sorted out for the next patch.

As much as i love BioWare and the Dragon Age franchise, EA screwed this up. Inquisition should've been released the next year, but (i imagine) that EA didn't want to release it next year as The Witcher 3 was coming out in 2015. Thing with The Witcher 3 is that is a thing from another world, it has details that Inquisition won't be able to fight with. So, EA wanted to be GOTY. And don't misunderstand me, Dragon Age and The Witcher are two very different kinds of RPG and (from my point of view) they can't be compared. But game critics wouldn't have been kind to Inquisition if it would've been released with Geralt's third game.

So, yeah, devs are aware of the many issues that we have because they were made to release this clumsy half-made game.

It is a beautiful game, and i enjoyed even with the low FPS, bugs, and always-sprinting game mode.

It sucks to wait, but as we have the final game, it will be awesome. (It's not excuse, but we've already been f*cked. Just trying to see the postitive things).

(Sorry for the bad english btw)

Hello again, distinguished inquisitors.

I have followed and applied just about every fix and workaround that has been posted; and amazingy enough I have been able to notice a light increase in performance. However the sttutering/hitching introduced to my game in PATCH#2 continues.

I'm out of steam and playing like this is really affecting my experience, the game freezes for 2-3 seconds sometimes frequently; it is an awful annoyance to have while playing any game.

Can we please have a way to reinstal without patching? Or anything that will take this horrifying sttutering away?

I have:

- cleaned out the Origin cache

- updated to the latest AMD beta drivers

- capped my fps in cutscenes/gameplay in the command line

- implemented a user.cfg file to disable motion blur

- disabed Origin overlay and auto login

- lowered my graphic settings to medium and most features are off .. and then some more.

The freezes remain, and of course, they weren't there before patch#2.

PLEASE help us out, a rollback option or something would be amazing.

AMD 6970

Phenom 2 cpu

12 Gb RAM

Thank you.

edit: Everything points to the game superloading the CPU, if it helps.

Yeah I don't get the toggle. I certainly never missed not having one in DAO. There are real issues with this game and walk toggled is insanely low on the lost. Like the crazy pants UI.

There was a walk toggle in DA:O. And to some of us not having one in Inquisition is a real issue. It's extremely immersion-breaking having to run in every situation.

I don't remember that at all. What key was it? This is like holding RMB+LBM to move - another feature I didn't know about!

Thing is it shouldn't even be an issue because it should have been there in the first place and when you take into account that their pre launch video said this was "made by PC Gamers for PC Gamers" this and the consolized UI are inexcusable oversights.when a decent PC UI and Walk Toggle has been in both previous DA games.

It seems the sad reality is that they knew this BS wouldn't fly with most of the PC userbase so they intentionally made that misleading video to keep the number of Day 1 sales high. Its bad enough that these things were not included, but to intentionally make a misleading video about the PC port is disgraceful. As muchj as I love the DA franchise if they can't be bothered to do a real PC port then they shouldn't bother doing one at all.

In the game properties I use "-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+" because at 30fps I got booted out of the game onto my desktop because cpu/gpu got to hot oddly enough at 60fps everything runs smooth.

I use the new omega 14.12 from AMD as graphic driver not the beta anymore.

Hope this helps.

the default binding is /(numpad) its no different to the sprint key in BF3/4 its places a lock on your movement speed resulting in you walking not running everywhere

Here's another thing... In the previous games, I used the walk toggle to model new armor and stuff. Much easier than just stationary.

I'm reading that DAI has even more options for armor and attire? Def waiting for a walk toggle then.

This is my current experience with Patch2 and then Patch2 Update

Following numerous observations/complaints about the Hotfix I chose to disable Auto Updates. Things appeared better at first with Ultra settings restored with the command line switch and I liked the addition of loot appearing in the minimap.

However, I then started experiencing BSOD and system restarts usually from cutscenes which many other people had already mentioned but nothing I had experienced before the patch. I also had driver fail/recovery issues, again I had not experienced this before hand and I don't experience these issues with any other games recent or old..

Spoiler

I felt this gave me little choice but to fully update the game hoping that some other fixes may have been included to relieve some of the issues.

The first thing I noticed was stutter as I ran around Haven as a test and obvious vegetation and gravel/stone detail popping which was not present before. The stutter appears related to load-in. If this was tweaked (I use this term loosely) in Patch2/Hotfix it also introduced the load stutter. I didn't need this anyway as I was previously getting 60fps in most situations so this ought to have been a draw distance level setting for users experiencing poor performance.

During my run around - I then experienced complete freezes and CTD's without error messages. At this point I came here to report my findings.

ALL IN ALL A COMPLETE DISASTER - and now I have an unplayable game - this situation is beyond a joke now!

I cannot for the life of me believe that a competent software engineer was responsible for this latest tragic travesty - I can only hope for everyone here - that their highly skilled members are due to return from a break - if this isn't the case they desperately need some engine gurus from Dice and nVidia over to rescue this abysmal situation.

I also wonder how much they tried to rush the game out for 2014 in order to avoid competition with Witcher3.

Not like it would have mattered, the game still would have been a console port with non existent pc controls and terrible combat.

DICE clearly has no role in the patching of this game since Bio can't even figure out how to integrate a simple walk toggle. They got their money.

Nvidia has not put out anything that relates directly to DAI except for the 344.75 drivers last month for the release. If they are involved at all with this game, we won't know until an upcoming patch comes out, fixes these problems, and it is specifically mentioned in a Driver release

That wouldn't have been the case on either count unless BioWare are deliberately refusing assistance - there's such a thing as Developer Relations and optimisation of Game/Render Engine would certainly have been needed during FP3s implementation. ;)

Ensuring there are legal DX11 calls (for example) could fall into either of their remits but perhaps BW are too priggish and elitist to ask for help - by all accounts their record is proof they have no right to be. They certainly need help from nVidia and ATI with multi-GPU utilisation since this is causing many other issues besides.

If you mean of course its conspicuously apparent that they weren't involved - I obviously agree.  :P
