I couldn't give a monkeys what those sort of people think since they are the spineless too easily pleased casuals who are responsible for allowing company's to think that producing this half arsed nonsense is acceptable.Since they are the cause of this problem what they think is not relevant. When I buy a game for PC that is advertised as "made by PC Gamers for PC Gamers" I expect a damn PC Game not some limp wristed consolized mess!
To be frank did you not read the thread title? this is for people that have issues with the PC version if you dont have issues and are happy with this shoddy PC port then go somewhere else you are not needed here since you have nothing to contribute. That's what makes a real PC Gamer we expect and demand the best, we expect and demand the PC port of a game to be made with our platform in mind and to take full advantage of it,when these developers fail to live up to their promises we hold them accountable and do not back down nor cower in the shadows, or congratulate them when they have not done their job.
Try to spin it anyway you like Bioware did not do their job on the PC port they failed miserably with numerous technical and performance issues that should not occur, along with no real PC UI,and non existent quality control on both the M/KB layout and the patches, poor almost non existent communication and customer support. Its speaks for itself about the state of the PC port that both Darrah and Gaider have not communicated in this thread since Nov 27th and never respectively, while shamelessly promoting the game on Twitter.
Your issue is with Bioware/EA, not your fellow gamer. Please remember that animosity and elitism divide the gaming community and only worsen the issues you're concerned with. If we split into rivaling groups developers will simply cater to whichever group gives them the most money for the least trouble. Respect differences in the preferences of your peers and you will gain supporters when you go to bring issues to the developer.
For the record I've been playing PC games for over 15 years, I build my own systems, and yes, I play many of my games with a gamepad (DAI included). Why? Because I enjoy it. And because many developers have come to prefer producing games that cater to console gamers. There are many reasons why, I would argue not the least of which being the aforementioned aggression within the PC community.
Huh.......older people aren't necessarily opposed to progressive ideas, we aren't all right wing nazis or something
Yeah, as an "older people" (I'm 42... wait... 43... what year is it again? Holy shyte, make that 44 in less than a month...) who's been gaming since you whipper snappers were less than a twinkle in your pappy's eye (as a 10yo I was beating all the boys at space invaders at the local shops on the way home from primary school), I'm all for the progressive. I still think that a stupid console port is not the game that was heavily advertised.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to find my cane.

What a load of crap.
"Many reasons why.."
Yea, there's 1 reason why, and you damn well know it's got nothing to do with how "aggressive" people are over the internet.

Yeah, I'm sure the console community would be perfectly calm, if the game was released with broken gamepad controls.

Man, yeah I was way off on the animosity thing, that was super supportive! =D Is the one reason the filthy casuals who spend their every waking moment trying to undermine your happiness?
My point is simply that our needs are not necessarily opposed to each other. Attacking gamepad users because the KBM controls are off accomplishes nothing. What I want is for both groups to get what they hoped for, which is NOT unrealistic. The KBM controls are off because they weren't given sufficient attention. This issue can be remedied. Unless, of course, we spend our time arguing internally rather than providing constructive criticism.

Sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy to me.

Can you imagine x, x, right bumper, down on left stick, up on right stick, right trigger and that brings you to the inventory. Never mind what it will take to get you into the character screen. ![]()

Denuvo is cracked, i hope soon we will see test of DAI without Denuvo...

So basically, your only arguments are the No True Scotsman logicial fallacy and the ''if I have issues with it, everyone has issues with it'' confirmation bias? Okay then. Myself, I do think the tactical camera is kinda **** and the inability to map additional mouse buttons is a bummer, but on the UI side I have no outstanding issues, 1 crash in 110 hours of play and few bugs.
If you have problems with the game, by all means lay them out. It's what these forums are for. However, throwing a temper tantrum while thinking you speak for everyone who plays RPGs on PC just makes you look like an attention seeker as far as I'm concerned.
I hate it when a passion when someone presumes to speak for me, and you're doing just that. I've been playing on PC for years, I've played all ye olde PC RPGs you can think of, and again apart from the shoddy tactical camera I think Inquisition plays just fine.

I can say with pretty much no personal input of my own and just by reading these forums for the past few months... you are definitely in the minority for pc gamers.
I don't believe pirates would spend money on a given game if it were uncrackable. So really, all the money spent on copy protection is wasted if one looks solely at the bottom line. From what I've seen, the sales numbers probably bear that out.
I get that devs want to keep people from stealing. Thieves would majorly ****** me off, too, if I were in their shoes. However, I would not spend money on copy protection if doing so would actually decrease my earnings. ("Cutting off one's own nose to spite their face" is the analogy that comes to mind)
And again, I think that's exactly what happens. I could be wrong. <shrug>
To switch subjects:
Devs will continue to develop for PC as long as it is profitable. We see games such as Inquisition making use of a portable engine such as Frostbite 3, (which was obviously geared towards consoles), because doing so increases potential sales. From a financial standpoint, it's a no brainer. I'm sorry my friends, but I fear this is the reality we face. The days of a clean, developed for pc interface are gone.
Man, yeah I was way off on the animosity thing, that was super supportive! =D Is the one reason the filthy casuals who spend their every waking moment trying to undermine your happiness?

I'd like peace in the Middle East as well, but as long as nobody's planning on moving out, I doubt that's gonna happen either.
There's going to be antagonism, there's going to be contempt. Because of how Bioware decided to do things. Both "sides" need to bypass the desire to sing Kum Ba Yah and just deal with it, aware of the issues and respectful of each other.
I've had a couple crashes specifically when doing War Table stuff, from entering the room to receiving results from completed efforts. These weren't issues I had before the patch and hotfix.
Plot points wise, it's a range from near the beginning even toward the end of the game so likely not just one quest is bugged to crash when issuing results. Quick saving before entering the War room has just become habit since it's become a crash dead zone for me.
Is anyone else having trouble with this?
you need to replay DAO with all the mods now.
What mods? Outside of a few gameplay tweaks and subjective appearance/armour stuff there isn't anything worthwhile IMO.
There are some interesting ones, like Advanced Tactics, Combat Tweaks, Rules Fixpack, certain magic enhancing mods, and anything that restores lost content or dialogue. HD textures and appearance stuff is subjective. There are some good convenience mods, too.
But ultimately, just try playing it with only the mouse and the spacebar.
Did you play Origins and DA2 on PC?
Yes, and RPGs such as Neverwinter Nights. I haven't played the older games though, like Baldurs Gate.
I can say with pretty much no personal input of my own and just by reading these forums for the past few months... you are definitely in the minority for pc gamers.
Even if I was the only person on the planet to think the PC version is overall fine (and by my own observations I'm definitely not), I'd still stand by it. I don't get this idea that you need to validate your opinions by saying ''look how many people also think that!''. If I like something, I'm going to like it no matter how uncool it makes me in some circles. That's why I hate statements that begin with ''All True PC Gamerstm''. It very much sounds like the person is appealing to a nebulous, arbitrary demographic in order to validate their personal opinions.
That said, if there's lots of people having PC issues (as in, crashes, bugs and the like), by all means Bioware should fix them, as they're already doing barring the Patch 2 mishap. That said, when it's a question of design, that's up to them and they don't have an obligation to fix it, even if I personally think the tactical camera needs some work.

But that's precisely what I'm talking about! The Middle East was destabilized by external forces making decisions for the people living there. The solution is for the opposing sides to stop opposing one another and resolve and unify despite those external forces.
I'm not advocating singing Kum Ba Yah, I'm advocating exactly what you suggested - dealing with the issues in a way which respects one another. Addressing the problem calmly and clearly to Bioware, not slinging blame at other gamers.

Definitely agree with the thoughts in that last sentence. That is really how this thread started off after the OP (although, way at the beginning, it was liberally sprinkled with "...but it looks really cool, you've clearly done a lot of good stuff, and I can't wait to try it out.."). Though there was the occasional PC vs. PC tiff even early, it's only around a couple weeks later that it really started to go sideways into the "True PC Gamer" discussion. (Which, alas, was probably inevitable. I mean, what else is anyone going to post -- "Still waiting, still annoyed./ Still reading, still tired of you being annoyed.") Ah, well.
Games (like any other software) are sold to individuals; profits are made from groups. It's a hard line to walk at times. I reckon that you don't walk it, though, by stating that a game is one thing when it's quite a different thing in order to corner the market on both PC and console gamers (and I include console-type PC gaming in that latter category, which is a perfectly legitimate playing style) -- and I hope we might all agree that that transcends any differences we might have between ourselves on individual PC gaming styles. It's certainly in line with your well-spoken sentiment.
Yeah I don't get the toggle. I certainly never missed not having one in DAO. There are real issues with this game and walk toggled is insanely low on the lost. Like the crazy pants UI.
The walk toggle is a minor issue, true, but I think that's rather the point. It's repeatedly brought up less because it's important, and more because it is simple.
Example:
A walk toggle should have been a quick addition that would give concrete evidence that Bioware is responding to player requests. Instead, we find out that they couldn't implement a simple walk toggle in the weeks they had to prepare the patch. That doesn't paint a very rosy picture. How can they get the PC UI up to scratch if they're already having problems?
There could be many reasons why they couldn't get the walk toggle ready, of course, but as Bioware won't tell us, we'll just have to come to our own conclusions.
Fork you're old.
Ooh, but I'm older than that (48 looms ahead). That's why my ancient fingers cramp up on WASD after an hour or so... ![]()
(Still waiting for the character response in-game that allows me to yell at darkspawn to get off my lawn...)
