Well then, while we wait for a patch that takes cares of the worst problems (crashes, framerate drops, controls, bad bugs) we might as well talk about the smaller ones.
I've just been playing a bit and I was reminded of something that's been bothering me for a while now: on some maps the rifts look super pretty, all glowy and bloomy and stuff, but sometime you get rifts that seem pretty "dead", over which there are no post processing shaders or anything. They seem kind of bland and I don't know why. I've wondered if it was the level of post-processing, but that seems nothing. Maybe effects? Nope, nothing either. My guess is either some maps don't have those effects enabled (strange, considering the strong volumetric lighting in every zone), or some specific rifts have some problem (maybe someone forgot to check whatever variable enables bloom on those objects? I dunno.
C'mon, don't tell me I'm the only one that noticed this.
I still do not understand why the entire game is smooth, but redcliffe village I drop to 20 fps or less when I look at the town no matter what the settings are on. Using mantle helps, but it makes the rest of the game stutter more and isn't much of a good trade off. Anyone know anything? I'd eventually like to walk around that village and do quests there.
thanks.
Yeah, that's a common problem. Some areas of Skyhold suffer from that too, and seems to get slightly worse the more you upgrade it, from my experience.
EDIT: Other small complaints: Exaggerated hip-swaying in female characters totally distracts me, especially while walking instead of running, and ESPECIALLY while wearing tight leather armor. Oh, that leather...
Male elf design. Well, less its design and more the way animations react to the body mesh\rig.
Patch 2 broke the "hide tone" option. Hotfix didn't, erm, fix it.
Hair Clipping. Nothing to do about it, but well... yeah.
Terrain\mesh lod popping. It's more noticeable in some maps than others but happens everywhere.
NPCs disappearing in Skyhold, forcing you to save and load near their supposed position.
I'm sure there's more, but these annoyed me the most so far.
