I hear ya but unless they lift the cap on saves the alternatives are limited.

Now read my original post again. At least cut the cap. That's a solution I gave. It's feedback that's on topic in this thread. ;)

In DA:O (which I just checked) there was no such limit and the characters where saved in separate folders. That's a solution that works best for me. It's odd that BW changed that.

The problem seems to be that maybe the game wasn't tested using other methods of playing the game?

That's my guess.

So....my apologies but I'm JUST getting to this thread.....

Is there a time table for a PC controls fix? I ALMOST bought this game, but i'm holding out until the PC controls are fixed.

Thanks

No time table for anything except counting money.  And if there were, this is not the place for it.  You'll need to check Twitter.

I still do not understand why the entire game is smooth, but redcliffe village I drop to 20 fps or less when I look at the town no matter what the settings are on. Using mantle helps, but it makes the rest of the game stutter more and isn't much of a good trade off. Anyone know anything? I'd eventually like to walk around that village and do quests there. :P thanks.

Well then, while we wait for a patch that takes cares of the worst problems (crashes, framerate drops, controls, bad bugs) we might as well talk about the smaller ones.

I've just been playing a bit and I was reminded of something that's been bothering me for a while now: on some maps the rifts look super pretty, all glowy and bloomy and stuff, but sometime you get rifts that seem pretty "dead", over which there are no post processing shaders or anything. They seem kind of bland and I don't know why. I've wondered if it was the level of post-processing, but that seems nothing. Maybe effects? Nope, nothing either. My guess is either some maps don't have those effects enabled (strange, considering the strong volumetric lighting in every zone), or some specific rifts have some problem (maybe someone forgot to check whatever variable enables bloom on those objects? I dunno.
C'mon, don't tell me I'm the only one that noticed this. :P

Yeah, that's a common problem. Some areas of Skyhold suffer from that too, and seems to get slightly worse the more you upgrade it, from my experience.

EDIT: Other small complaints: Exaggerated hip-swaying in female characters totally distracts me, especially while walking instead of running, and ESPECIALLY while wearing tight leather armor. Oh, that leather...

Male elf design. Well, less its design and more the way animations react to the body mesh\rig.
Patch 2 broke the "hide tone" option. Hotfix didn't, erm, fix it.
Hair Clipping. Nothing to do about it, but well... yeah.
Terrain\mesh lod popping. It's more noticeable in some maps than others but happens everywhere.
NPCs disappearing in Skyhold, forcing you to save and load near their supposed position.
I'm sure there's more, but these annoyed me the most so far.

Yep, lots of clipping issues or other immersion breaking moments. Like a conversation with a very serious tone... And an NPC constantly walking and bumping off a wall just behind the scene. Oh, the horrors of war.

Fun fact: When you hold veil torch (or regular torch?) and recruit the chevalier in the winter area (Emprise Du Lion), the inquisitor puts the torch in his face. Deep. Clips half the material in his head, I imagine the back of his head must be flaming.

Maybe it's like that with all recruits :P

To think, that people complain about "no walk key" as immersion breaking :P

In my opinion, BioWare made an error releasing the game for last-gen consoles. I've been reading about the problems and the producers' concerns about the "tight fit" trying to get game onto older machines and they seem to have set both consumers and themselves up for endless problems. If one doesn't have the right tech, one must either acquire it or go without.

I'm with you there, but that call should have been made by Bioware. It's disingenuous to sell a sixty dollar game and expect the consumer to know that it won't work. But hey, they've sold 270,000 units on last gen consoles, so I can see why EA probably pressed them to do it.

We need to be able to name the Save too! That makes it easy to go back. Virtually impossible to work out what to load as it stands.

And its all in US timing! 10.20am where I am. But saves are 12-13hours away. The perils of being a software developer.

That's actually weird--because my save games are all is in the correct time (I'm in Australia too). Just oversaved my latest save to make sure.

I just checked the game's options and found no way to check off time zones in there so my only suggestion is to check your Origin app/profile and make sure you have your GMT +10 (or whatever; that's what it is for me--Brisbane, no DST) checked off.

I was very disappointed by the appalling control scheme this game has. Having to hold down RMB to rotate the camera is unacceptable, and I hope a future patch will at least fix that. I'd be much happier if I could move the camera with the mouse (like I can do in every 3rd person game ever), and have to hold down a key to freeze the camera and move the cursor with the mouse, for example (although I'm sure there are probably much better solutions than that).

I'm looking forward to see if anything is done about this in a future patch, and I'm holding off from playing the game for a month or two.

Your solution would be even worse I believe :P Unless, you only target with "TAB" (which doesn't work well for me), attack with R and do stuff with F... But than I am not sure if all the icons on the lower tab have shortcuts to them :P

There is a reason why the existing controll scheme works in many MMOs. Copying SWOTOR is just... not enough for us, I guess :P

I don't play MMOs (never did), so I'm surprised to hear that they use this way of moving the camera. I don't know how people put up with it (got used to it, I guess?).

I remember holding down a key to freeze the camera and move the cursor with the mouse in The Witcher (to hover over HUD elements and trigger tooltips). It worked pretty well, although I guess the two games are not really comparable.

Has Bioware shot itself in the foot with that video from Laidlaw and friends?

It is patently obvious that whatever was claimed is an outright lie. It was not just Laidlaw but the others in the video as well.

If this came from Ford or GM about a new model Mustang imagine the headlines and class action rumours.

I would like to know further. Released in Canada, bought in Australia, marketed worldwide.

Curious!

Actually in most games there is a toggle button. Pushing different button constantly is just as bad imo, you are just reversing the process, not making it better otherwise ^^

Strange. My settings are correct as far as I can tell. The file date seems to be correct. But when I go to load a game all I see srange hours. I will check and repost! weird!

Checked it. It has correct date. Didn't read the right hand info. It has the date and time. It was the confusing info at end of title that got me. Oops!

Heh, kind of agree, when I controll my NPC from time to time.

But it does look ridiculous, so I may get fed up of this when I roll a female char.

I was very disappointed by the appalling control scheme this game has. Having to hold down RMB to rotate the camera is unacceptable,

In Origins when using WASD to move you need to hold the right mouse button to move the camera.

Problem is that they neglected to add the other control scheme of moving with the left and right mouse buttons held down. With that the camera moved with your character.

This is the puzzle to me. Did no-one at Bioware play the game the latter way? Personally I never touch WASD in Origins and DAII.

You all keep forgetting it's a different engine, enforced by EA. I don't think they had time or skill to do anything about it.

After I got a refund I played a bit on my friends copy instead to try out patch 2 and my issues are still the same.

The Tactical View is god awful. You can't zoom out nearly enough to get a good view and the inability to move the camera around with the mouse and instead being forced to use WASD for that cements my belief that this is a shitty console port.

No click to move. This means that it is impossible to queue up move commands while paused, you are forced to use the disgusting tactical view for that.

No autoattack combined with (melee) characters not staying in melee range of moving mobs. Against moving mobs I have to hold both "W" and "R" down at the same time all the time in order to maintain melee range and attacks. It's ****** stupid and is incredibly annoying.

No tooltip when you mouseover skills. It's obvious they did not add this very basic feature since consoles don't have any mouse.

No click to move when you interact with loot/objects. Further cements the fact that this is a pure console port, it's stupid and bad.

Search ping. It's better now that you get an indicator on the minimap when you ping but you still spam it and it's lame and annoying.

I have played long enough to "get used" to the bad UI and controls but I constantly find myself being pissed off when I play which is a shame. I really want to enjoy it but it's incredibly hard when the basics are so glaringly tailored towards consoles.

I would be okay with all this **** if it was not for the fact that they really tried hard to tell everyone that this was a game actually made for the PC by PC players. I don't like when ppl lie. I will probably pirate it and play it through one time fast, once they give the PC version some proper attention I will be glad to show my support by buying it (again).

In a way DA:I is the reverse of what Destiny is. Destiny features incredibly polished gameplay and core mechanics but suffer from a shallow world and story. DA:I is the complete opposite, the story is good and there are tons of stuff to do and discover but the core is poorly implemented (for PC K/M users).

I simply cannot play this game in its current state. I can't believe I'm thinking of getting a refund on a bioware game. Bugs are one thing, I can live with those being patched eventually. Releasing a PC game without proper controls is another.

I understand this franchise has become a shameless console port, but the least you could do would be to develop a proper UI, inventory and controls.

Looking forward to enjoying this game... Someday.
