From what I've been reading and what I've seen, it's literally a hit or miss. My specs are about the same as yours. I've had some freezes and spontaneous crashes. If you can get over UI issues and make Quicksaving an absolute habit then you should have no trouble. I'd say play without the patch and see how things go. If everything works? Just don't patch. If you are having a lot of trouble then cross your fingers that the patch helps more than hinders. If you can get the game to work - it is really fun.

Also, good luck on finals, kiddo! o7

UI I can probably force myself to get over, and I have used controllers on PC occasionally.  I'm not necessarily happy with it but I can definitely cope with it if push comes to shove (although this is not to defend the lack  of PC-friendly UI, obviously).

Just wondering, how would I play without the patch? I thought that downloading the game would automatically download the patch with it (i.e. the latest version of the game).  Or are you suggesting to buy the physical version instead?

And thanks for the response man.

That's just the vibe I got from the QA guy who commented earlier in the thread. He played with the KB&M controls and, in his opinion, didn't see any issues. Contrast that to players who fairly quickly noticed how poor the KB&M controls were. It's possible that their echo chamber just didn't have anyone capable of noticing the problem.

As an aside, do we know how many people in Bioware have worked on all of the games? Churn can introduce significant differences from product to product.

Of course he's going to say that. To us. What else is he going to say? He works there. He may have brought up problems with the development team but he isn't going to admit that to us.

Also it's QA s job to test that it works as designed, which it does. It's the design that sucks, but from a work perspective that's not his problem.

RE:PC Community Concerns.......

Some Ideas. If it has already been addressed I apologize, but I'm not going to read through nearly 300 Pages of posts to verify.

The inventory management needs A LOT of work...

1.) Quest related items should be put into a category by themselves, and cannot be dropped or sold, but do not take up inventory space.

2.) Valuables should only be for valuable items that you choose to hold on to, for when you level up, but can be moved to  junk category.

3.) Junk category... items that you choose to get rid of, want to sell, and can be sold all at once, without losing creature items, quest items, valuable items, etc.

4.) items needed for requisitions: separate category can cannot be sold or used unless crafting the item in the requisition.

5.) sorting options, by DPS, damage type, for weapons, and for armor if they have upgrades like pauldrons or greaves attached, etc,

6.) creature items, and unique items like sad splinters, too many pants, and red bag icon items should be in their own category, like quest items.

at least for starters....

Camera and KB+M controls.

1.)Tactical camera doesn't zoom out enough to make it viable.

2.)Forced to use wasd to move tac cam, rather than mouse (pan - up, down, left, right, at edge of screen, or click and drag)

no move to + interact/loot

3.) Constantly having to right click to get mouse to enable hover options

4.) Mouse keeps going off screen in windowed full screen mode, and causing game window to close (need to implement safe zone for mouse)

this is especially evident, and critical during combat!

5.) conversation options constantly changing between mouse over selection, numbered for keyboard input, both or neither...

-update- 6.) remap option for console key "~" --- console key activates during combat, if you miss the "1" key or tab key, and cuts input to the game. and you left there wondering, why isn't s/he attacking, using his/her power, then you look up in the left corner, and the dang console window is open, and when you go to try and close it you gt killed.........

-update-7.) Allow remapping to mouse buttons. You had this day 1 of DA:Origins

Companion AI

1.) Companions don't hold position.

2.) Ranged characters (i.e. mages and archers) rushing in to melee range - never keep at range even when told to hold position.

3.) Hold position option/command should be able to activate on each individual character, not entire party.

Phisics/physx?

why, when trying to use jump (mashing space bar) going up the side of a hill, mountain...

does the controlled character jump backwards 20-30 feet every 3rd or 4th jump?

Physics.

Maybe it is because you are not meant to be jumping up buildings, walls or mountains? There is a limit to the angle of terrain you can traverse. Walls, nope. So it is simply an invisible wall you are encountering telling you "no, you can't climb on here".

There seems to be a bug for the Alistair / Morrigan / Loghain DR talk in skyhold? Gaider mentions there's supposed to be a scene there and even with following his directions on how to trigger it, the scene won't trigger.

I was fighting a giant when everything started to go in slow motion.  it didn't stop even after combat ended and required I save and reload to fix it

FWIW, I can see where he's coming from. I don't find the KEYBOARD part of the controls uncomfortable per se (tac cam, loot, pause, tactics and hotkeys problems notwithstanding, as those have received complaints from ALL platforms, even PS3) just quirky (System Shock 1 quirky, not Omikron quirky though, if we're establishing gamer credentials), but I find the unbindability of extra mouse buttons and the way quick commands are handled ridiculous. And then there's the walk button.

As for echo chambers, that's a common occurrence whenever the BSN complains about anything in a BioWare game. There's signs of echo chamberdom in the dev team, in the forumgoers bashing the game, in the forumgoers praising the game, in the trolls trolling all sides, everybody. There's something in the water, I think.

Still there's no word about Patch 3. I guess we will have to wait until mid January.

We heard about Patch 2 on the 8th.  It dropped on the 9th.

It's all about personal preference, some like chocolate, some like peanut butter and some even like them combined. I think it shouldn't be that big of a deal for them to implement it if people want it.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record here, as I've mentioned this multiple times in this thread.  check out Darrah's twitter account.....they are actually working on a walk toggle (or option) and have been since at least Nov 25 or so.  There seems to be some technical issues that are causing them problems implementing it.

What did you expect when people can not play the game? Check the name of the thread before posting images with zero intelligence.

I don't think you're wrong.  If it doesn't drop tomorrow, I'm guessing January 6th for the next one.  Ah, the silvery chimes of Christmas lamentations.  Tis the season.

Xbone patch arrived today, maybe someone tells us if there are any differencies between PC patch and that one... It may give a clue.

I was really looking forward to playing this over Christmas. I guess I was too naive to think that a AAA game would be playable so soon after it's release.

You all keep forgetting it's a different engine, enforced by EA. I don't think they had time or skill to do anything about it.

None of us have forgotten this. The simple fact is that the game was in development for three years and part of the reason EA wants all their games to use Frostbite is that it makes it easier for their teams to help each other.

For example. Can't work out how to make a walk/run toggle? Go ask the Battlefield team how they managed it.

That this is the first Bioware game to use the Frostbite engine is not an excuse.

Someone jump in and correct me if I'm wrong, but you should be able to disable automatic updates on Origin. It'll be under the Origin menu, Account Settings, General. Just disable that before you download or install anything. I'm pretty positive that would do the trick.

11. If thou aren't willing to do all of these, by all means release the game anyway. I'll probably only buy it on discount, but sorry guys I prefer a bad port to a console exclusive. :P
Also, funny how many of those DA: I breaks. It just occurred to me how horrible a port this was when I realised that the game doesn't actually have a "quit" option in the pause menu. Then again, I've been quitting with alt+f4, so it took a while for the realization to hit me.

Controls: Ye- nop- erm, I dunno. Considering I'm playing with a controller and can't rebind (and the complaints of a lot of keyboard\mouse users) I'm just gonna say "no".

Menu: Nope. It's not great for either platform, but it's kinda ridiculous you can't play with a controller and navigate the menus with the mouse though.

Advanced Graphic Options: They're... ok, I guess.

Tweaking basics without restarting: Nope. Weird that you can tweak ammount of effects, aa, mesh resolution and post processing without restarting but can't friggin compare AO\water\shadow quality without a full restart.

DRM: Erm, I dunno. Assuming Denuvo isn't the hd destroyer some claim it to be, it's not exactly bad. Still, origin.

Screwing owners of one brand of graphic card: Everyone's sort of boned, but nvidia users ar the boned-est. Check.

No quicksave: only on controller, but check.

Multiplayer: Eh... Don't care, honestly.

Modders: Not modder friendly at all, is it? We'll see how modable it is though.

Broken: Depends. Does your game crash on every cutscene? If yes, check.

I realise that list isn't perfect, different people prioritize different things, but it nevertheless seems like a good standard to strive for. And Inquisition? Doesn't even come close.

Can you re-post those directions (or at least link the source; it's not on his tumblr)? I've tried everything I can think of. No Morrigan chat with the Ali or the Loghain runthough.

ETA: for anyone else looking for this info, I found it; it's here:
http://forum.bioware...ractions/page-5

Also, those 10 Commandments.

My gods, Bioware, you used to follow so many of them.... /sad

The restarting.... oh the restarting....
