Yes, I agree;in hindsight, it seems obvious (I said as much in my very first post on this topic).

Pity, really. Because this backlash is all so unnecessary. They had a good thing and broke it.

You'd think a company would learn from past mistakes. In fact, all companies would learn.

After the ME3 Kai lang/ending mess, when BW said nothing, ignored the community until it reached critical mass (meaning an article appeared in the NYT) you'd think they learn to: talk to your fans. Even if it's bad news. It's MUCH BETTER to talk and listen to your users then ignore them.

Trust me when I tell you it's not the developers who have control of this. It's the PR department. They don't want to say anything for fear of taking a misstep. But saying anything has it's risks too.

Frankly, after the way BW handled the ME3 controversy, and the way they are handling this - I mean this thread is 302 pages! Time to chime in BW. Anyway I'm done with BW. No more auto-buy, no more pre-orders - now I wait until I have a chance to read the forums first. I only wish I could return this "Extended" Edition I paid for.

THIS is how one should play (and be officially able to do so) any Dragon Age game:

Period.

OK, so is he controlling the camera there with his mouse?  I see him zooming in on things at times, but why doesn't he spin the camera around?

The cheat engine "mod" only affects the zoom, there's still no mouse scrolling, to do that would require alot more coding and quite possibly more bugs as this is an external program.

Same, I don't know how any PC player would have seen this coming.

Though looking back there were plenty of hints; like every single promotional video Bioware made - they were all using controllers - except for that one PC marketing video. Either way, I have my guard up now for future Bioware releases. I thought they were over their console favoritism that began with JE but I guess not.

If we are talking about the same PC marketing video, they made it clear they were using a controller to demo the game at the end. "...We hit 'A' and (paraphrased) everything went smooth as silk..."

What they carefully did not do was emphasize that phrase but it's in there for anyone to hear and draw her or his own conclusions.

That's it.

I'm controlling with mouse and WASD. I could spin, but I tend to stick to a good spot once I find it, so that the camera doesn't zoom in out of nowhere when it "bumps" in an object, "salient" wall, etc.. Got it?

Best way is to try the "hack" for yourself, may be strange to use it at first, but one can get quite used to it and make the game - although not perfectly and requiring LOTS of annoying party micro management to really shine - playable, at least. Much better than standard zoom once one finds the configuration that suits (via CheatEgine).

Hmm...  I mean it looks better than the videos I have seen of the vanilla Tac Cam... I just have no desire to attempt something like that when there's a chance they might tweak it in patch 3.

Fixed that one for you, Brogan...

(Sorry, couldn't help it... still no patch, still sad.  At least IWD:EE is proving more fun than I expected.)

They don't care.  They lied for months to get us to buy it.  Why would they all of a sudden care post-release?

Well if you feel so proud of your own 'intelligence' then by all means, educate us in how you can possibly say that DA:I's controls are the same as DAO, DA2 :)

evidence... what is that

Heh, gotta love the fanboys :)

I normally applaud them when they make positive threads on this forum (as the game does deserve praise where its due), but not when they come in and try to invalidate real and genuine concerns.

"DAI works for me, DAI doesn't work for you? You must suck" etc etc *facepalm*

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but here goes -

AMD just came out with an update to the Catalyst Suite; version 14.5. Has anyone here uploaded to that version? Any impact on the game?

From what I've heard (don't take my word for it though - I'm still using 14.11.2 beta) AMD seems to be more stable than Nvidia drivers at the moment.

Hyperbole is my milieu and you can only have it if you steal it from my cold dead hands... People overreact all the time. I'm sure we all have something that just agitates us to the right amount and then watch out. They know, we know, everyone knows they are exaggerating when they are speaking hopefully. We do it for pleasure or showmanship. And exaggerating online seems much easier. Still... and I know I've said this almost as many times as I've posted, I'm surprised so many people are civil about their issues. Not that I think we're animals prone to rioting and loss of rationalization. But there are people suffering issues as a result of fixing something and yet there's... just this air to fill. All this air with no guiding voice of reassurance to sway opinion or direction. It's Sisyphean posting here. So I say - Rock on exaggeration if it achieves a bit of catharsis in lieu of an unplayable game.

Yeah, that's all well and good, but there's a point where using hyperbole only gets you a horrible environment. One guy purposely exaggerating is funny, 300+ pages of it feels... apocalyptic? Overly dramatic? Heavy? Stupid? :P

From what I've heard, I'm inclined to agree. Especially considering how the game still likes to crash on me for no reason even with nvidia's "hotfix" 144.80 drivers.

Dont know why some people defend this low skill team.of game programmers  Thy have what deserved.

Smart and intelligent people learn from own mistakes. So...

Yes. Indeed.
No, wait, what are you even saying?

Aye I keep seeing "lag" "stutter" "crash" "dx", and consistently from Nvidia users.

Where as, since updating to 14.11.2 - with the release build I had ZERO crashes or freezes.

Might be time to switch to AMD :)

I haven't had the game crash on me since I updated to AMD version 14.3. Well, I guess I trust AMD enough to move forward. Can always roll back if necessary.

Jesus.  So glad I haven't tried to play this mess yet.  This is what happens when your lead designers come from console backgrounds (which may not of even of been a Bioware decision).

I remember seeing something on Speed Tree and thinking it looked a little too good to be true, but still an amazing concept.  Looks like somebody forgot to double-check their work...

And lol @ the worst case scenario - that would go over well here!

Hell naw, I bought this rig less than 2 months ago. Anyway, if a single game has these kinds of issues with a brand of gpus it's not a sign to stop using that brand, it's a sign whoever made the game should test it better. What would I do when a game eventually crashed with my new AMD, switch back to Nvidia?  :P

Yeah. I get that this is a thread for venting and that some people are frustrated with how the game turned out to be, but some people really should go to a dictionary and read the definition of "impartial". Or "overreacting". :P

To be honest, MP is kinda better than SP is. Even has better interface for showing health and mana.

Just, smaller (number of enemies, areas, items [yes, not that many, but with ridiculous RNG]).

SP looks like a MMO that no one plays anymore :D Still, it is just decent enough to want to actually beat it to the end, MP might get more content eventually and for that many hours of (certainly not GOTY) fun, it is well worth the price. Still, it is our right to demand patches IMO.

As for the best game, I'd vote for Civilization Beyond Earth, Shadowrun Returns or Shadows of Mordor.

Really? I heard nothing but bad from that to the point I still haven't got it despite being a SMAC fan.
