At least as far as the work ethic and/or competence level is concerned, I would agree.  There seems to be very little to hold up for comparison.

you could compare a game at release status and after 6 month and a view patches, which is clearly a sign that many bugs are not really a matter of complexity and more of limited time. that would make more sense

It's such a disappointment to hear the PC version is a subpar experience (which I have been following closely through the forum posts). I'm not sure how Bioware thinks this game can sell like skyrim if they don't have a robust modding scene. It's not your DRM or your aggressive marketing that brings the PC gamers to you, it's the respect that you give to the gamers. It is clear as day that DA:I was designed with consoles in mind, and there's nothing much to be "concerned with" because you won't be doing a new UI for the PC.

I even waited for a few days to see if there's any updates in this post by Bioware. Nope.

To be honest, I expect daily updates for the PC, on your plans on how this will be made better or what sort of work is going to be started on. That will show your sincerity in repairing relationships with the PC gamers. This BW post certainly didn't repair mine.

I'm glad I didn't preorder this game like how I did for DA/ME series. DA 2 and ME 3 were great wake up calls as to how far Bioware has fallen under EA. Time to jump to Projekt instead... at least they don't use DRM. I don't need to worry if there's any rumored DRM that's going to cause damage to SSD.

I was not excited about DA2...when I found out they were looking to gain the "COD" crowd's attention  (yes that was said at one point on the old forums)  and that their focus would be on console players because that's where the money was I assume.    Rpg combat has never been the equivalent of first person shooter experience,  but the "new" Bioware thought they could mix genres I guess.

Okay as I stated before DA:O  played for a whole year and did every imaginable story line I could,  23 characters and missing 9 achieves.     DA2...loaded it up,  played for 12 hours.   Put it down and uninstalled it.   NEVER went back.    DA2 is a PALE shadow of DA:O.     I own it but won't play it.      As stated before I thought Bioware had learned their lesson with the second game in the series, and would try to make future games more like DA:O their goose that laid the golden egg.    Evidently not...the old dev team not around any more?   If so,  it shows.

Time to fix what you broke Bioware.

@Feraele you have every right to feel as emotionally extreme on the one end as to feel extreme emotion on the other.  Your hurt, and everyone's in general, needs to be addressed.

The people who are not hurt do not need this. The forum here is a lightning rod for catharsis but, unless that catharsis is addressed, it will spin itself out of control. This will affect sales. At the moment, my gut instinct suggests there were less pre-orders for DA3 than DA2 and sales will plummet steeply the longer this world of hurt continues.

It will continue until someone of executive authority at Bioware man's up. Closure was lost on DA2 because people were never validated for what was obvious about that game. Distrust spilled into DA3 (pre-order sales would confirm). And now this is spinning out of control on a Saturday afternoon in Edmonton - a full 5 days after launch, and a launch it must be believed people knew would be a disaster for the PC customer.

why you should be able to run the game? how long are quadcores out now, 6 years? thats why pc development is so hard and expensive, because people think they have to take absolutely no work in their systems but the devs have to work to enable a game on every hardware from the past 10 years. its like complaining why next gen console games dont run on the last ones. get used to it, dual core era is over, maybe a view indie titles will come out that support it but the next year you will not be able to play an aaa title. btw da:i still looks good on lowest settings, better than vanilla skyrim or dragon age on high.

Naah...   I'm kinda inclined to think that the reason it requires quad-cores is because of consoles. Again.

He's principally right. There shouldn't be any reason why he shouldn't be able to run this on a lower machine. At poor settings, of course. A proper piece of PC-software doesn't care how many cores the CPU has. It runs on the OS scheduler. This sensitivity to the number of cores came with multicore consoles. The 360. The first time I heard about it was with Forbidden World (was that the name?). It needed three, because that's the number of cores in the 360.

I would guess that the Frostbite engine design used does its own scheduling. That seems the most likely explanation.

There is an old saying that goes:

The quality goes in, before the name goes on.

Correct, and this is the conundrum PC Gaming faces, or has faced for close to a decade...  Quality goes down because standards go down.  Standards dictate entrepreneurialism, and the rise of the indie scene trying to get their foot in the door.

So we try to find the gems in the rough that get back to the core ideology we covet, but those games and those companies lack the financial ability to compete in quality.

Then, what you are saying is that we should buy our games from Kickstarter from now on?

No one wanted to publish Warhorse's game so they're doing it themselves. Without much of the flash that would make a competitive MMO, I am optimistic it will rely heavily on Role-Playing. The story is simple and has legs too, similar to DA:Origins.

This may well be the future.

This was a couple hours ago, someone asked about the tac cam control...

Gosh, you know, it would be nice if you were the CEO of Bioware Division explaining that is such clear terms. It would not change the fact but it would alleviate some of the bewilderment that fuels negativity. Of course, the next question to you, Mr. CEO, would be: what do you plan to do moving forward with DA3 for PC?

@TheyTookMyDurr There is no ETA. We are investigating many issues and will release a patch as soon as possible.

"Many issues" in addition to the walk toggle.  Somehow, that seems significant...

btw I'm quite impressed how people comparing DAI to skyrim...people loves to compare everything even the genres different

The game is not compared, only the UI -- and I said that the UI used in Dragon Age Origins should be used as model, or similar, and not the UI used in Skyrim.

But why I even bother posting these? This UI it's good enough... signed by a Loyal Fan for BioWare/EA Games.

There must be something wrong with the game engine, I get close to 50 FPS anywhere else (Hinterlands etc) but when I go to Haven or Redcliff, the drop in FPS (down to 14 -30) is like a slap in the face.

As someone who played Bioware games since Baldur's Gate I really couldn't wait for Inquisition. Sadly, the horrible controlls for PC and the bad performance with stuttering and frequent crashes kill the game for me. The combat is just no fun to play at all when I am struggling to controll my character.

Please release a patch asap for PC that fixes the following:

  • let us move our characters by using the mouse like in previous games. Also, give those who like it click to move back
  • add auto attack
  • tactical camera needs to be like in DAO. I can't view the battlefield when the camera hovers over my character's head. The camera in tactical mode should be movable via mouse
  • When I highlight loot my character should move and actually loot the object on mouse click
  • Let us custimize our keybinds by including all mouse buttons
  • Let us name our save games

Until this is fixed, I will not play the game again. I don't want to ruin what is potentially a great story by my frustration over the horrible controls for PC.

Tac cam main issue is that it zooms out like, not at all.  To be tactical you need to be able to see the whole battlefield.  They need to jack the zoom out by 500%.  The second major issue I have with it is just the way it behaves in general.  Hold right mouse and move it around...it does not behave consistently.  Its definitely not a free floating camera, and that is exactly what it needs to be.

Edge  pan should also be added, and the tac cam should respect key bindings.  Right now it does not so that if you swap binding with Q and A and E and D, it works everywhere...except the tac cam.

its ridiculous issues like this even happened, pushing back the release date and the preview events for reviewer or youtubers ;  did any the previewer or the QA people actually play a PC version of the game. i mean did they just all play the console version of the game and throught its good enough on console so its good enough on PC...

Just flabbergasted

This thread now has just over 70K views.  Its going to over take this thread http://forum.bioware...ng-to-gamestop/which has 77K views, probably sometime tonight.  One thread was created 6 months ago.  One was created 3 days ago.

... :o

@DJShepherd You can dream, yes! Our focus for right now is functionality patches. Aesthetic comes later if at all.

so does that mean they will only fix the stability issues and not even address the problem with the UI, Tact Cam, Controls, and things like a Storage Chest;

i mean why get rid of the storage chest when it was in DAII and DAO/w DLC

it like before this game was getting started someone beat all the people in the developement team with an amenisa stick and they forget all the things that worked in the PC versions of DAO and DA2

^^ there is very good reason to believe that is exactly what happened.

And if so that is contempt, negligence, and as someone just stated, a virtual slap in the face to the pc community...

Thank you for acknowledging the problem. Personally I would suggest a fast patch to alleviate the issue, followed by the release of limited modding tools to allow the community to perfect the UI. I understand that a full toolset was not planned, but something of a more limited scope would surely be still possible?

I'm not saying anything offensive, but if i have a dual core which is as strong as a quad core why shouldn't i be able to play a game. I would be more calm if i couldn't even start the game, instead it freezes after loading screen. I'm not profesional but itseams to me that there is some protection there or something that rejects duo cores. I mean it's stupid, if my PC can't suport that game then don't let me start it at all, or let me start it and let me be the one who will decide if that game is too much and will wreck my PC (which wouldn't happen anyway). But as i said i'm not a huge gamer or something, I just like their work and I wanted to give them my suport for it. And i still hold on to that cause i'm sure the game is fantastic, or at least will be when all is fixed. ;)
