I just updated Geforce Experience, and noticed Inquisition was now in my Games list. I went to see what the programme suggests my optimized game settings should be...

It is recommending that:

Spoiler

What do people suggest I do?

Edit: I'm running around with the recommendations Geforce has given me, except Texture Quality is still Fade-Touched. Running great so far, some areas vary of course, but very playable.

Edit 2: Whats the difference between Post-process, and Multisample Anti-Aliasing? I want the better option of course.

Post-process is less resource intensive AA.  Some people think it can make some textures/meshes blurry looking.  MSAA takes more GPU resources.  I would try PP Ultra MSAA Off.  Then try PP None and MSAA 4x and use which you like better looks and performance wise.

From a modders perspective I do have one question.

It isn't Dragon Age without silly mage hats, but it is Dragon Age with totally new PC controls from the first two installments?

The great Homer Simpson once said, "I already live in America, why would I live in America Jr.?" (refering to Canada). If I play Skyrim, why would I play Skyrim Jr.? Skyrim not being the Jr. because of all the wonderful mods you can get, for free, that make it so much better.

I'm not angry because I didn't buy Inquistion. I want to post here that I will not because of the PC controls.

I did love Origins. So much I made some serious mods for it (lag reduction, enemy AI enhancement). Too bad you make it so hard to make your games better, even on yourselves.

Regards.

To be fair the basic scheme, WASD with holding the right mouse button to move the camera, is one of the schemes used in the first two games. Problem is that Bioware seemed to have thought it was the only one people used. Just speaking for myself I never use WASD to move in Origins or DAII.

Bioware seem to have gotten a very narrow vision on how people played their games.

Exactly.

This is what makes it perfectly clear that everyone at Bioware who worked on or is working on DAI for the pc, never even played DAO/DA2 on pc.

The overlapping controls (WASD or LMB+RMB or click to move) was one of the key components that made Origins game of the year for so many publications.

I would wager that in the studio right now, the design lead that is currently in charge of "revamping" the PC UI for the next patch ....  never played DAO/DA2 on pc.

Wow, interesting. I almost always use WASD in Origins and DAII. I actually didn't know that some people prefer a different way to move.

Just to make sure I make myself clear because I see by some comments I was misunderstood. I apologize.

It's not about WASD, not even close.

I understand that the PC controls can not be exactly the same as O and 2 (yes, I'm lazy when it comes to forums). I understand that the duck and dodge rule is now in effect. I actually like this. In fact I modded DAO, changing ABI.GDA TARGETTYPES, in order to be able to run away from an Ogre charge and the batting of a high dragon's wings. SO I ACTUALLY MODDED DAO TO BE LIKE THIS. I did not share this mod because it was too complex for me to deal with the general gaming public, which I like no more than you game developers, believe me.

So, although complex, you could have done a type of auto targeting of "areas" instead of opponents but that's very complex and I do not expect that from you.

But from what I read, over and over, the PC controls are just horrible. Working, but horrible. Don't want to play with horrible. Make them good enough and I'll get the game. Simple.

Thank you again.

KilrB:  new Nvidia driver? the beta?

I checked for an update (GTX 760 Ti) but the 344.75 is the latest.

am envious of everyone able to complain about tactics & controls. I just want to stop CTD in cutscenes. (never in War Room.)

none of the trips & tricks have worked.

not going to install that patch 2. not yet with all the complaints. guess this will be a 2015 game for me.

I don't have any problem with those who want to use WASD and RMB to control Inquisition. My only issue is with Bioware on thinking that is the only scheme that people liked to use.

Then please believe me when I say that I don't believe your mod exists.

I played this  with my xbox 360 controller for awhile but the piece of shi  died on me , but the mouse and keyboard is better  cause you can control the camera playing, with a archer  or mage seems easy but  playing a warrior with tthe mouse seems tough ,   I agree with all the other people who say make it more  like  the other dragon age games ,  even ff 14 arr  has  a better zoom camera and the abilty to click to move and auto attack ,  its sensory overload, the tatical  camera in inqustions in something out of a madden game

All those waiting for Patch 3 to fix the controls and hopefully make this game playable, while you wait check our Divinity Original Sin - an awesome modern old school RPG. Oh, might I be so bold as to suggest someone at Bioware might want to check it out too :P

I installed the beta, have GF 760, didn't help but didn't make it worse either. Still quietly crashes.

Always happy to admit when I'm wrong, though you aren't going to get me to do it a thousand times. My full and humble apologies.

Not sure what was complicated about dealing with the public though. You handed me my arse quite nicely.

It is a very useful function to have during combat, when you need to get party members in specific positions.

Can't play DAI anymore. Game crashes consistently at WE&WH opening cutscene with Display Driver failing to respond. Tried reverting to 344.65, did nothing.

Going to try and upgrade to the Beta to see if it helps. This is making me mad.

I kind of wonder if Bioware should have stuck to their own Eclipse Engine for Inquisition instead of moving to Frostbite. Inquisition certainly looks better than Origins or Dragon Age II, but I don't really see anything that couldn't have been achieved with Eclipse.

Because that would have meant doing a proper PC version of the game instead of a sloppy console port.

They were using directional controls in 1985 as well. Earlier, even.
