I'm posting this here - apologies if someone has already done so - because I think this is highly relevant to much of things that people have discussed and wrote about since this thread started.

It also sadly illustrates the utter contempt BioWare appear to have for their customers and it shows how important CD Projekt RED customers (cross platform) are to them and their very reason for being.

Below are two open letters to Witcher 3 fans. The game has been delayed twice now BUT you know what I don't care or rather I do because they're doing their damnedest to launch an extremely complex game in the best possible state they can.

Whats more they're giving away for free 16 DLCs because they care and appreciate the worldwide support they get from their fans and customers.

Further they apologise for their mistakes - and they want you to know they are sorry and they demonstrate sincerity - you don't have to believe them but I for one do.  ;)

November, 06,, 2014 Open Letter from Marcin Iwiński, co-founder and Joint CEO of CD PROJEKT RED.

“We love games. We love collecting them, playing them, and everything connected to that experience. Every time we reach out for a new release, we expect to be taken care of. We expect support if we encounter any problems, we love updates constantly improving the experience, and we feel really special when we receive free content that gives us more than we initially paid for. It doesn’t have to be huge, it can be an awesome skin for a character, or an extra sword, or armor.

Unfortunately this treatment is quite rare these days. As gamers, we nowadays have to hold on tight to our wallets, as surprisingly right after release, lots of tiny pieces of tempting content materialize with a steep price tag attached. Haven’t we just paid a lot of cash for a brand new game?

As CD PROJEKT RED, we strongly believe this is not the way it should work and, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we have decided to do it differently. Cutting to the chase, everyone who buys Wild Hunt will receive 16 specially prepared DLCs absolutely for free, regardless of platform. You don’t have to pre-order, you don’t have to buy any special edition to get them -- if you own a copy of Wild Hunt, they’re yours. This is our way of saying thank you for buying our game.”

Regards,
Marcin

 December, 06,, 2014

Dear Gamers,

Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.

The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.

With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.

We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.

Thank you for the all support you show us on a daily basis. We truly do appreciate it. It has fueled us in our passion since the start and will continue to do so.

The Board of CD PROJEKT SA

Will Witcher 3 arrive in perfect bug-free condition - NO I don't think so, something this complex but will they FIX it? Will they keep you informed of their progress - AGAIN YES I believe they will!

We need more developers like CD Projekt RED and I will support them with my wallet without hesitation because I know they'll do everything in their power to make Witcher 3 a REAL GOTY 2015 - I can't wait, but I will be happy to!  ^_^

There's should be a "ProfileOptions_profile" file in your "Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save" folder. Try to edit your settings there. Also, check if the file is read-only (it shouldn't be).

strange thing is that it started doing this today after loggin 67 hours over 2 weeks.

I think it is very obvious that the current state DAI for pc was released in had a ton of influence on this move by CDPR.

Obviously it was not the sole reason, for I too believe them when they say they saw things that needed fixing and that it would take additional time.

But you can bet the lead designer for that game is paying very close attention to what's going on here.

Maybe even in this very thread...

Especially, different problems have been seen on different platforms so far. That means, root causes are not similar. Stuttering on PC, black screen on PS3, freeze problem on Xbox 360... Every game had bugs but this is something else. Discussions going on the EAHQ, claiming that BW messed up with the coding. I just hope the problem is not that big... Since it will be the biggest launch of CDPR to the day, it seems they are taking the release of DAI very seriously since they share almost the same fanbase.

All in all, I agree with your opinion. They definetely waited for the reaction to the DAI release and the mixed reaction "encouraged" them to rethink certain parts of their product.

CD Projekt Red generally follows it's own schedule. They have always been this way. They are the most outspoken developers when it comes to not using DRM in games, and believe in providing their customers the support, extra content and prompt patches. It's very easy to trust them because they have consistently shown that they do as they say. I remember when Bioware was also in this category. I think the two doctors were still with them at that point though so it was a while back.

After a moth I surrender to the temptation and bought a GTX 970, the game runs good, really good, but it feels wrong the need of a GPU so powerful like this to run the game at 60fps, and no, there is still framedrops in twons (damn you npcs). The game looks beautiful but there is no chance that a GTX 660 is the recommended GPU for DAI. Any way, I will still wait for the controls/quest/performace/ui patch. The game look good but the gameplay not.

Well, TW3 hasn't exactly advertised "by PC gamers for PC gamers" have they?

The only lesson that can be learned from DAI's launch is that you simply do not advertise a game "by PC gamers for PC gamers" and then release a console port.

Still, CDPR seems to be on a whole different league now as one of the few consumer friendly development companies.

You're lucky then cause after Patch 2, Inquisition is stuttering mess more often than not with my 970.

Has there been any recent communication from BioWare as to when we can expect or what we can expect from a next patch? I just find it kind of sad how EA and other big AAA companies are pushing the whole "Games as a Service" model and yet Inquisition's launch and (lack of) post launch support has been mostly radio silence beyond the sporadic twitter posts from random developers. There has been zero ongoing dialogue with the community and that's just shameful.

I mean, the game has been out for more than a month now and thanks to Patch 2, the game is actually running worse than it did at launch.

This is one of the reasons I couldn't care less if they fixed the banter problems. I am absolutely going to solo my first playthrough if something as basic as a hold function doesn't work.

Game is totally not built for solo play. Not even sure if it's possible to play it like that, though I'm playing a higher difficulty. Would suck when you stumble upon warrior blockade, mage barrier or rogue locked doors.

Than again, as Bethgael said, game is an empty MMO wasteland mostly, you basically NEED banter, to keep yourself at least a little bit entertained.

There are basically just a few scripted missions that deliver some kind of emotion. You mostly just... run. And kill wolves.

I never said it's impossible, it is just a lausy expirience, it drags on too much anyway.

It will not be fun to the majority of players, so achievements aside, I wouldn't advertise this type of play.

Than again, I am a completionist. Minus the mosaic pieces, don't have the patience to do that... Got few full ones I stumbled upon, with -1 piece in the set...

I just wanna be able to play this damn game without my display drivers crashing resulting in numerous CTD's.

Done my research, apparently it's all in the game's coding... Nothing I can do but wait for it to get fixed...

This is such a nice game, it's a real tragedy that people can't play it.

I'd try to get you to understand that people who like the game also have complaints and probably don't like seeing others insulting what (to them) is a good decision, that while it is fair to assume you'll enjoy the sequel to a game you liked (especially if the game's marketting suggested you would indeed enjoy it), the creators have a right to change the formula if they feel it's the right decision, and it's also not very feasible at this point doing all the changes people are clamouring for while maintaining the original vision and...

Well, whatever. Considering the way you started your post by insulting me (nice job dude, people really take you seriously when you do that) I can't really say I feel that you're worth the time it'd take me to try to formulate\organize a proper answer.
You win. I am very convinced. You can go ahead and do a little dance now.

True, i too have a 970 gtx (g1 gamming from gigabyte) and since the second patch i find my game sttuter more often than before and im pretty sure with this card that shouldnt be happening not only that but i have 16 gigs of ram and a i7 4770k so its beyond me why the stutters here and there.

I'm glad you're looking into this! :) Here is a list of some things we can do in Origins, and that I believe we are missing in Inquisition.

Origins in action camera

  • Point and click with mouse to attack
  • Point and click with mouse to move
  • Point and click with mouse to loot
  • Auto-attack
  • Hold 2 mouse buttons to move
  • Select multiple party members with mouse, either by click and drag, or by clicking portraits with 'Shift'
  • Detailed tooltips on quickbar slots
  • Choose to have up to 40 quickbar slots (while not having huge buttons for companion orders)
  • Set up advanced tactics for companions
  • Edit: Walk toggle ;)

Specifically for the tactical camera in Origins

  • WASD movement of controlled character
  • Navigate camera with mouse touching the edge of the screen
  • Tilt camera to also see from below "worm's eye view"
  • Edit: Zoom out more than in Inquisition

I would add:

  • Possibility to use the search function in Tactical camera

If the game was fully playable in tactical camera, the absence of auto-attack and click to move in action camera wouldn’t be such a big problem for so many players. However, at current state it isn’t possible to play fully in tactical camera as so basic features as search (“V” key by default) are not even available in this mode.

And really I cannot think of any reason why it is not even possible to search in tac cam.

Thats what i like about smaller companies that havent been corrupted by money yet. 16 free dlc's? constant delays to bring a stronger product...
I never liked the Witcher series and i always loved the Dragon Age series but honestly i really hope those guys bring a winning product and hit those greedy.... in the face! because their greed slowly tortured and killed the chances of seeing more of the quality of my all time most loved rpg  DA:O time after time again  and  for that they must pay!
P.S The blaming finger is not for the whole company but for the 'big shots' on top that after seeing the first million forgot about the more honest and worthy goals that people usually start with.

I don't think there has been a suitable explanation for this.

DW/Archery Rogue + specialization. Archery takes 4 abilities. DW takes 5. Stealth takes 4. Subterfuge & Sabotage-another 8?

Haven't looked at Assassin/Tempest/Artificer yet. At least another 4. That's 17 spots by my count! Or perhaps 23

Sure I can get out of combat, switch to daggers or bow, then swap all my talents.

WTF? 8 abilities? Who designed this crap? Once you are past the DirectX errors and CTD and crashes, you have to face the real problem!

A game designed with little thought. I spend more time cursing BW than fighting enemies. I can manage living with the UI from hell, I can press V to find stuff that should be visible, I can get ore from a distance but can't open a chest right in front of me. But why only 8 slots for a rogue with known 2 weapon trees. If you pick DW then archery should be unavailable! OR MORE SLOTS!!! I can manage as a sword and board or a mage, but not a rogue.

Get a grip BW

p.s. Origins had 12 slots for archery, 12 for dual wield PLUS the specific rogue stuff like Locks, stealth, etc. And people wonder why we complain!! Its not a new direction, its crippling

Perhaps I should make sure my daggers are not sharp or remove the poison! omg

You did attack me first as I was just commenting on another poster's attempt to convince people their concerns weren't valid, however I could have went about my post differently, and for that I apologize. I was just getting aggravated at people coming into this thread to tell us we're wrong about our concerns and how perfect the game is.

I upgraded my PC with GeForce 970. Crashes even faster than 560 under normall usage :)

But as before, using Outcome to start the game first, than starting Origin only after it finished loading... Makes crashes stop completely.

I don't know why this happens, Origin must do some werid stuff to the game process while loading, but not If it is started later (so you can still use multiplayer, achievements etc)

What works for me, might now work for some obviously.

Outcome: http://outcome.nofate.me/

(PS. I started using it, because Origin forces game to run in my region: Polish, instead of English, even If I made the changes in the config. Without it, the game does no problem in booting up in english text)

At least THIS TIME I won vs EA making me want NOT to like their product! 1 me, 20+ EA.

This is hilarious (as in *should not happen*), GeForce 970 GTX (palit, reference cooling), 8 gb DDR2 RAM (but Corsair with radiators), old first Phenom Quad 2.6 Ghz, no stutters, everything at max (MSAAx4, obviously FXAA (posteffect AA) turned off, as this is extreme crap and makes everything look like plastic, looses sharpness, etc. Console peasant type of AA)

Looks like specific pieces of hardware give the issues? Or software? Since many people said it improved after installing win8.1, this suggests they had crappy setup/wrong drivers and didn't know about it :)

I have GTX680! But Win8.1. Had few problems since 20/11. Haven't had to touch any controls so far. 8GB Ram. RAID 5 system

Thankfully I have avoided the problems that seem to be occurring. Can't avoid bad design/implementation though. Dawn will come!

Indeed. For example, we have a dev on record as saying lmb+rmb mouse navigation was part of the game back in Sept.

It was a lie.

Although, to be fair, it may have been a part of the game back in September.

It was just removed in, say, October. ;)

Yes, I realised last night I should have added to my post that the game has been built in such a way that sometimes you need either a rogue, warr or mage to do the speshal things and you can't get to, or through, certain points without having all three with you.

Once you know them, you can plan ahead and bring whatever you're not, but... yeah. I like my party.

Dorian is very very handy to have around when I take my warr girl out (when my hands get tired, i switch and play him and let my tanky girl do what she does on her own).

Not really. Just because you can play it doesn't mean that you got it right and everyone else got it wrong.

I too have the Palit 970GTX 16GB Corsair DDR3 RAM and an i5 4690K. I have a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and already tried old, new and beta Nvidia drivers. The game won't even start.

No amount of tinkering, workarounds or proposed solutions has had any effect and people are experiencing this very same problem on completely different hardware setups be it Intel/AMD, AMD/AMD or Intel/NVIDIA (all high end machines).

Both the computer and the OS are brand new. Shadow of Mordor runs flawlessly on Ultra settings and DA:I won't even start. This is not something wrong on the client's side.
