Most of the reviewers played on console or with a gamepad, it's easy to see that just by watching some videos or looking at the screenshots.

It is also worth to mention, that developers usually send the best versions of the game as review copies.

For example, even most copies of Unity were for Xbox which worked a little bit better (some people actually mentioned that fact though :))

It would be highly unlikely, that they would send PC versions out.

Than again Total Biscuit did a short review from PC version. Despite him having monstrous PC and showing a lot of abnormalities (like CPU usage and LOW framerates) he reviewed it in a positive tone. That was dissapointing.

It was disappointing because everyone knows if he gave anything less, he'd lose whatever exclusivity he currently enjoys with EA.

Very few non-corrupt reviews/reviewers anymore.  If you want to know the truth, come to threads like this one.

It seems that most of the reviewers played on console or with a gamepad, it's easy to see that just by watching some videos or looking at the screenshots.

If you don't see any UI on screenshots, then the tests were also on console or with gamepad because this feature wasn't enable with keyboard+mouse until last patch.

Yes, Gamespot for instance only reviewed it on XBOX and PS. So now the 9/10 grade is being shared as the score Gamespot gave, while on PC at launch it would prob. have been lower.

Even Angry Joe give the game a 9 on console and an 8 on PC and its funny he kept saying he made a "mistake" with DA2 giving it a high score, WELL it seems he maid that "mistake" again, im pretty sure right now he is a fanboy or has some contract with EA.

So...

I've decided to try Witcher 2 as it was on sale...

Err...why does press "z" for witcher's amulet is so strangely similar to press "v" to look for a loot? It emits a circle around you and higlights a nearby loot just like DAI does...

Hm... loot picking is strikingly familiar...

What is it? A copy-paste from another game? Is it possible? Or my eyes deceive me?

Ohh... sorry, you mean like those countless Diablo clones and Diablo-killers that industry spew in hundreds?

I can understand why another small indie company would want a diablo ripoff, but I can't really see why would Bioware want to ripoff something from another game, when in reality they pretty much defined a genre. You know...Baldurs Gate...

If that's "ripping off", then pretty much every created thing in the world except for the first one is guilty.

Second-infinityth director to use a tracking shot in a movie? Rip-off.

Second-infinityth playwright to use a soliloquy? Rip-off.

Second-infinityth band to use feedback intentionally? Rip-off.

Etc., etc., etc.

Yeah - once you give them the hold command you have to stay in tac cam for the fight.  Leaving it cancels the hold command.  There are other ways to do it, though, including having the ranged follow you if you're ranged and not the tank.  There's a Reddit thread with more detail here:

https://www.reddit.c...rty_to_do_what/

Wow... was not aware of this!  Thanks for that, and sharing the link to the Reddit page.  With all of the other crappola we're dealing with, at least this may help a bit. Maybe now I won't be down to 3 healing potions, 5 minutes after I've left a camp, 'cause flipping Varric and Solas continually charge into melee range, get their arses handed to them, and need to be healed.  Fast travel back to camp, replenish potions, head back out, and SMACK... Respawn. D'oh... (OK, exaggerated a bit, but the "never-ending bears" in the SE corner of the Hinterlands sure made it seem this way!)

Sure. This same thing lead to a war between Apple and Samsung. This same thing is why developers are trying to steer off from someone else's ideas and to create their very own. In case with witcher, highlighting that loot the way it does is nothing new, sure, but the exact way it does it belongs to witcher alone.

"Press a key, radar pings" is hardly significant enough on its own to constitute infringement. It's about as big a thing as "jump on enemy's head, enemy dies". Unless Bioware cracked the source code for Witcher 2 and inserted that code directly into DA: I (something I doubt is even possible for games that use entirely different engines), this is a simple case of "that's a good idea, let's try it ourselves".

I agree, I just don't see a good enough reason to why did they do it. I bet there are numerous ways to do it differently.

Why should they do it differently? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

A. It doesn't add originality to the game that is suppose to win GOTY. (Including the fact that this idea does not belongs to them)
B. Who said it's not broken? It's a hell and tedious at it. Pinging like a freaking submarine for the course of entire game. At the end you'll do it just as a reflex. A simple, constant highlight of nerby items would be better by any means.

So, is this game stable on the PS3?

I'm a PC user, but I'm not touching this thing on the PC

Not really, I don't like when interactive objects are always highlighted in games, it can be a little immersion breaking. I will agree though that the ping is maybe not the best idea ever, I would prefer "hold a button to show all interactive items" function, like in The Witcher 1, but I'm fine with the ping too.

And so it should, what other RPG's were released this year that would come close?

The only gripe I have with this game is it's completely unplayable state. Otherwise the game is solid and I wouldn't be typing in forums if I could play it...

New theory... BioWare create unplayable and/or highly controversial games to bring more people to it's forums

Divinity: original sin,  wasteland 2,  D3: reaper of souls, Dark souls 2, Shadows of Mordor to name a few.  SoM, and D:OS are both easily better, and its not close.  D3 and wasteland are much closer but i think they both are better by a small margin, and they are both playable (at least for me), and I haven't played DS2 yet but I have heard nothing but amazing things about it.

The box is nice! And I particularly like the rear panel. Inside leaves a bit to be desired. LMFAO

I hope that you know that we had on PC : Divinity Original Sin and Wasteland 2 this year.

Those 2 games are more closer to c-rpg than DA:I is.

So the truth no real indies games were considered in the gaming awards by reviewers or players.

Which is sad, only bcaue they were PC exclusive and didn't had any big marketting machine behind them.

This game is playable, just not on all systems ;)

That's entirely a matter of opinion.

Personally however, I am 96 hours into my DAI playthrough in which I could have finished Shadow of Mordor 3 times over by then. Don't get me wrong, I loved SoM, but it was way too short. In fact I wouldn't even consider it an RPG.

Also, D3 reaper of souls is an expansion. Would it even count?
