Bioware, wanted you to know that I switched from Directx11 to mantle and

DAI is using  65-67% CPU just in the opening screen.. the one that says "Click to Continue".

This information is from my Windows 7 (64bit) Resource Monitor.

Basically, I can't help but say WTF?

I think they assume everyone who cared about a fix has beat the game already and moved on...  I know I did.. now I'm playing other stuff, only popped in here for "rubber necking" reasons..

I hope not.

I'm doing Wicked Eyes...rather boring so far..

65% is not so bad, 100% is pretty common with this game :P

Menus somehow are especially bad, leading to crashes, etc.

I hope not.

I'm afraid game is boring overall. Very few real quests with narrative. Bascially only one felt like a return to the series and was actually fun.

That's Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts.

So, yeah... (entirely subjective opinion of mine obviously).

I don't think they question the fact, that it's a cheap port, more likely they think that it was not a deliberate decision of management to make it so. Which is a bit silly, because those things must be defined before the work on anything even starts. And stuff like that usually is beeing dictated by the ammounts of resources that are given for the task. Wether a guy in a shirt and a tie with a pie chart was involved or not? Not really sure who cares  :P

Uhhh... No. That isn't what *they* were thinking at all.

interesting to note that all official responses ended with the release of the hotfix... the one that caused even worse issues for some people. Last mention of patch 3 was on Dec 9th with no further mention of it whatsoever.

Well if you have a gaming mouse that comes with a software to configure it, you may be able to manage mouse button mapping as alot of PC players have done.

Nope don't have one.  Just a standard mouse with scroll-wheel and 2 thumb buttons.  I've used this mouse for 10 years and played so many games I can't even count.

And none of them, not a single game in 10 years that I can remember, did not allow me to configure those buttons without having to download and install some 3rd party program.

*shrug* Console designers don't have to program for mouse usage in their games.  Which explains why we don't have this feature in Inquisition pc version...

People hate the silence, but also hate when the devs only come to say that things are being worked on.

Please stop trying to defend them.  It's embarrassing.

Thank you all for the kind words.  For what it's worth, here's my (very brief) experience with the Game of Frustrations....er, DA:I.  Been anticipating the release for years....watched reviews and any footage on the net that I could find.  I loved Origins and was put-off a bit by the sequel.  Only played halfway through DA2.  Maybe it was the reuse of the same buildings and whatnot, but it seemed "rushed" somehow. The controls hadn't changed that much, but I didn't care for the inventory and other screens (and implementation). I was encouraged by the FOUR YEARS production cycle (along with veiled promises/videos) for the new game however.  I bought DA:I the day that it came out and tried it for maybe 2 hours.  I was battling the controls and NONE of it was intuitive or fun.  I stopped playing and then started reading the forums.  I guess that I'm not alone.  At least that is comforting....in a misery loves company sort of way.

I've seen that there are already Mods that are trying to address some of the PC control issues and I might give them a try. I was really hoping that Bioware (or "Booware" as I've read some smart poster call them) would get off of their collective-arses and fix this travesty.  A bad console port is what I've received for plunking down $70, NOT a "PC game for PC gamers"...or whatever it was that they promised.  Maybe they meant "politically correct" all along, and we just assumed that they meant "personal computer".  What's probably killing me the most is that they already did it correctly (in DA:O)...there was no reason to reinvent the wheel here.  That's why I'm pissed....because they did it right before, then progressively messed up the franchise.  Amazing.

Anyway, I'm probably not helping even being here and spewing my frustration(s).  I have no answers.  I'll play something else until someone fixes this hot mess.  It's unplayable (for me) in it's current state.  Can't click to move, can't loot properly, my character behaves like a submarine when it's searching, I can't pan-out to see my whole party, can't auto-attack, no party member obeys my commands...I just can't torture myself any further.  So I wait.  Bioware (or Modders), do your job and fix this.  Thank you.

Good post.  You join a very crowded boat with other pc gamers fooled by the Laidlaw.

Also, quoting this for the benefit of the repetitive minority of posters claiming it's the same people talking about the same issues in this thread...

Yea, you were correct.  My statement was indeed a hypothesis.  Crusader was likely just trying to differentiate between the other possible reasons for what the end result for pc was.

And again, I've been present for almost everything Bioware has publicly stated or streamed since this summer.  I watched the 2013 reveal.  It's not like they were ever up front with the fact that the pc was no longer the lead platform.  It had to be subtle, or we would have picked up on it.  They stated it in that video (which we now know is full of lies), but nowhere else was it touched on, because everything else they have put out into the public in was either sponsored by Sony or M$, or at a console-centered event running the game on PC but with a controller plugged in.

It's clear they intended to keep everything to do with pc on the down-low until release.  The reason?  Money, of course.  Ethics don't matter to these vultures.

Love your posts! Always leave with a broad grin! Awesome

I try. :)

:D *laughs & laughs* Let me know if you like the juice.

I will. Part of me wonders if it wouldn't just be like V8 with less salt. ;)

... On a positive note, I'm having a blast playing Dragon Age ORIGINS again...and looking back fondly on William Henry Harrison's term in office.

P.S.  This is my first post in any sort of game forum, so please be gentle.  I normally would just stick to Facebook/Twitter, but it's just that this game is such a monumental disappointment, that I felt compelled to say something.

Welcome. And I'm glad "Booware" is catching on. Fun, for a typo. ;)

I went back to a mid-game-paused new character I'd been playing in the leadup to DA:I's release last night [before the deep mushroom nightmare debacle, OMG!]. I still haven't sacrificed Mr Melty-Voice and that last 2% on the Keep achieves not being done started to bother me during beta. It was bliss, KB&M-wise.

Mr Laidlaw, Mr Darrah, please, sers, can we have some more of that?

It seems fairly clear to me now (after the fact), that I and many PC gamers assumed too much.  Unwitting consumers that were expecting a different bill of goods.  I wanted a Toyota and you sold me a "toy Yoda".  Well played, EA/Bioware.  I was sort of expecting the usual control scheme/UI from previous Dragon Age games.  The game reviewers were most likely all using controllers in their tests, but neglected to point that out, but I should've known.  It's clear to me now.  Now I see the error of my ways...  I guess it's my fault that I don't own a controller.  I will throw away my mouse and keyboard forthwith and purchase a Micro$oft controller for my silly PC.  It's true what they say, you can't fight city hall, and by city hall, I mean CONSOLES.

I can't decide on a gun or a controller though, as this game wants me to blow my brains out and you can't do that with a controller....yet.

Nope, it's not your fault.  We were all lied to.  Things like this:

yep.  Holding both LMB & RMB = W.   It's based on our previous titles mouse and keyboard behaviour.

Outright lies and propaganda with the sole intention of securing your pre-ordering dollars.

I don't want that last post to come off like I'm some sort of suicidal nut, but you should see my three companions.  They won't listen to anything that I say and they just run into danger without any form of tactics.  I guess what I'm really trying to say is that this game is not good for my mental health.

Notwithstanding the underhanded video on unrealized PC prowess, I think it's harsh to pinpoint one person has having fooled gamers. I happen to respect Laidlaw's work which is done under monetizing duress by the studio's big brother. Old habits die hard and opportunistic marketing is an EA specialty.

We should have another patch by mid to end January, and I'd be losing hope if patch 3 doesn't provide for better PC optimization.

I don't. It's rhetorical.

The interesting thing about all this console stuffs is that Microsoft, in their obvious pre-Xbone launch drama, before the brouhaha that had them backflip, showed that they're fairly committed to moving their consoles away from gaming and into multimedia (i.e., turning the Xbone into Netflix downloaders, with gaming as a secondary priority). Sony are still relatively committed to gaming (e.g., PS4 supports indies, etc.). So, even if EA have tied themselves to console gaming (and it is clear they have), they've run with the wrong company to do so.

True enough. I'm sure there were a lot of people who contributed to the deception. A scapegoat will only cover up the more systemic problem.

Funny how the internet was swarming with BIoware pr and 'hype it to the hilt' representatives, months before release, then after release, not so much as a squeak from them. That is, until they have something to sell us, then they will hatch like bunny's all over the place.

Marketting for the win, I guess :P

This right here is the truth of the matter and it betrays their disrespect for the consumer.

Ah, come on. Be fair. The poor saps are just husks anyways, blindly obeying every command their Reaper overlords (sorry, meant EA) give them. It's not like they have a choice. :P
(Except, of course, quitting and looking for a new job... and we all know how difficult that is these days.)

Fair enough... Apparently you know him/her better than I do, so I'll take your word for it. I can only temper my response to what was written as it is. As for the rest, I've read many of your comments, and in so doing, I don't think you have a tendency to spout off wildly... In spite of your justified outrage. I'm a PC gamer at heart, so I understand completely... Especially when games I'm playing are doing things that produce constant WTF's.

Personally, I think that certain games are better on some platforms than others, but I also think that if developers are going to present their games as "multi-platform", they should live up to that ideal and create the best experience for all concerned. What BioWare did with DA-Origins (from my understanding) was the right way to go about it and everyone benefited from the experience. I came on board with DA2 and immediately concluded that the game seemed rushed and geared towards consoles. Yes I adapted (I am Borg!) ;), but that didn't erase my initial impression nor my enjoyment of the game. Still, I don't have to tell you how all one needs to do is look around and you see more and more of this awful trend of game developers trying to use a PC to fit a square peg into a round hole through a triangle, and giving us consumers the privilege of paying to be beta-testers.  <_< Well, not all of us.  ;)
