Ah, come on. Be fair. The poor saps are just husks anyways, blindly obeying every command their Reaper overlords (sorry, meant EA) give them. It's not like they have a choice. :P
(Except, of course, quitting and looking for a new job... and we all know how difficult that is these days.)

They could refuse on principle if they were not such a bunch of spineless dimwits, or better yet don't appear in a video spouting loads of B.S or do marketing on their personal Twitter.

Well I'm so peeved off with both Laidlaw and Darrah for being a pair of 2-Faced dishonest ArseBiscuits I'm going to take my frustration out of me by Kicking a Dragons ass like it was their faces.

Oh and inB4 Brogan

I ran into two PC interface bugs while playing this weekend. No clue if they have been reported (also no clue if anyone from bioware will read this):

First I was looking at the journal and using the keys to move up/down in the journal when suddenly the game hit a cpu loop on one core (i.e, one core was spinning 100%) and the entire game locked up. After about 5 minutes I used task manager to kill it. Rather annoying bug.

-

Second for some reason while I was playing ESC suddenly started enabling/exiting console and wouldn't do normal escape required commands (like open menu); even worse when I was using one of those things to locate shards I could no longer exit because when i hit escape it would open console and I could find no other command to exit - other than using task manager. I probably hit ~ by accident at some point (this happens on my keyboard because it is below escape) but no clue why ESC got permantly mapped to console enable/disable.

-

Actually there is a third bug with the right mouse button. It says it is mapped to attack but during combat if there is an event it will suddenly remap to that action so instead of attacking it will do really strange things like wan tto open codex; totally annoying to die because your attack key suddenly opens/close codex while in combat.

-

Quite frankly ignoring that hte interface is rather poor and at time slow to respond these bugs (above) and others make it quite frustrating.

After some time, I tried playing the game again, this time the way it was developed to be played, like an action game in ME2 style.....and the game is pretty good. Gosh, I can only imagine how awesome this game would be with DA:O controls. Either way, the game is most of the time pretty easy to be played (playing at hard) without a lot of commands, so I'm using less Tactical camera than I think I should and its working pretty ok....until I finally tried the first dragon (hinterland) and the controls get back at me all over again. The characters are pretty ok mostly (not close to the greatest charactes ever) and they are pretty similar to ME2 characters in background and development...but they are way better than the main character (even with me taking most of the decisions)....I just dont buy the inquisitor storyline at all...its way WAYY rushed. The game is huge with content and I'm pretty happy with it....and the dragons are beyond awesome...finally. Just hope that patch 3 comes out and I cant have a blast playing it, Right now the controls are what really keeps me from enjoyng the game as it was intended.

Right now the controls are what really keeps me from enjoyng the game as it was intended.

I'm tempted to argue that "as it was intended", because I'm not seeing any signs of an intention towards tactical play.  I played quite a bit over the holidays on PC using a controller, and it is a flat-out action game.  Can't fix the AI, can't fix the teleporting companions, tac cam is argh.

I don't see how they can "fix" it without a redesign.  The tac cam is never going to be fluid enough to be worth using.  The fact that it's an invisible pathfinding NPC kills it, even if the recentering bug gets fixed.  Ex. - on a cliff on the Storm Coast where companions would not go due to pathfinding.  I tried to cast barrier on myself and couldn't target.  The circle stayed on the top of the cliff and I couldn't highlight where I was standing.  That's just one of many.

Anyways, if you totally put aside the idea that this is or could be a tactical game it's fun.  I still catch myself getting grumpy when I think about setting up combos and can't do it fluidly, but it's not like they're necessary.  It's just extra damage.

So here I'm disappointed and could get aggravated, but there I can temporarily forget about it and enjoy myself.  I guess that's good.  It's not GOTY good if the basic controls cause me to snap at the wife, though.

Eh, same thing happens in politics. The haters get some kind of dopa thrill out of bashing things, so they stay motivated to bash. If anyone disagrees, the response makes no pretense at understanding but instead escalates to name-calling mode.

Those who evaluate to a different conclusion simply learn ignore the vitreol as useless after a bit, so the only posts visible are negative quickly.

New folks trickle in, see only the trash, and decide maybe it really is that bad and they were just fooled when they were innocently enjoying the game.

It is as if the truth doesn't matter any more than a mere opinion, and all opinions are equal, even if most are a poor fit for the full set of facts (though most can kinda-sorta fit with carefully selected facts).

Mob rule. Democracy doesn't stand a chance.

I have to agree with you. Its because I still keep getting myself so disapponted. As an action game, it works but its no even close to a full action game like Shadows of Mordor or something like that. It sells itselft as a RPG and it have the tools to be a great one but it works so bad that you have to pretend that it doesnt have these tools. I used for some minutes the "workaround" that gives you full camera control and for a second, I was happy. But soon enough, in closed places, the camera went all crazy, the pathfinding as all over th place and I stop using it and got back to the action gameplay style. So sad.

Ask me and I'd say the PC Bioware fans (me included) are pretty damn disappointed with mouse/keyboard controls, UI, HUD, tactics (lack thereof), etc., which is a shame, because I'm sure I'd have loved the game otherwise. Right now I'm just :(

I don't care if it is a tactic game or an action game; I just don't understand the issues with k/b mouse being functional. Let me repeat my post above in case someone has work around for these 'bugs' (other than using a controller):

--

This post isn't about how to make it like DA:O (which I liked) it is how to work around buttons that suddenly change function or stop working.

Still no news?  *sigh*

I can't imagine that, once Christmas happened, you thought there would be any news until today, so I feel I have to remind you that the time stamp for this post was approximately 3 AM on the west coast of North America. Do let them sleep.

Well it worked for a while, update changed everything.  Now DA3 fails w/in 2 minutes, if not at the start.  Nvidia seems a bit slow to filter changes down, but all other games work fine.

There is some issue in the hardware scan module and clearly some contention - keys loose function temporarily or lock up.  Its a behavior related to how the frostbite and RPG elements communicate.

I dont have any hardware problems at all, but everytime I go to a new area it takes A LOOOOONG time loading. I guess its because most thing are probably compressed because the second loading is not that intense....I can live with that.

So I've seen quite many hilarious bugs in my time with video games over the years, but they never cease to surprise me.

So I was playing MP and got booted to MP menu for some reason, ok that happens, a lot, so I decided to search for a new match but kept getting some connection error message. Well I decided to continue my new dwarven badass single player playthrough. Upon reaching the point where you meet Varric+Solas and the cutscene is about to start.. BOOM I find myself in the main menu with a error dialog stating "You have been kicked from the game." "ok".

Can't say I've been kicked from single player before. Bioware being a pioneer.

I am amused.

I think a few mentioned the last battle glitch...

Yes just to remind me that I was a PC gamer, DA:I had to crash one more time --- with the big bad dude floating around taking multiple hits, only to not die but float around and do nothing.

Lol

I think that was the most entertaining crash with my team members loitering around unable to say or do anything while floating debris and damn nation continued on....and the dramatic music... I heard the " Waaa Waaa Waaaaa" looney tunes chime for BioWare.

You want to talk about immersion destroying. Daaaaang.

Don't worry really, you unfortunately just have to re-do the battle up to that point, mine decided to behave itself the next go around. I think it's a glitch but it isn't a permanent one.

I know it sucks --- but hey --- life of the PC gamer eh? The abused one that is.

Hey guys, after being extremely upset at the whole "pc game by pc gamers" lie and trying to make my voice heard here at the forums, I invested a good 80+ hours on this game and then decided to come back here and post just one last time..

To whoever is primarily not playing this game because of the refusal to play with a gamepad, guys, just try it out. I'm amazed at how the gameplay is when you use a gamepad. After a few hours even the tac cam does everything you want it to do (just not on a few close spaces). The only thing that bothers me is the UI for the inventory, abilities, etc., but everything that we love about bioware (pc care aside) is in this game. It's ****** great.

I will still never preorder another game from EAware based on what their marketing is.

Peace out guys, hope you guys enjoy it as much as I am.

I politely refuse to use a controller instead of a mouse and keyboard. It feels like I'm enabling a behavior. It may warrant a better user experience in your opinion and it may in fact do so but if this behavior is allowed to express itself in the future PC titles of Bioware's - Is that then all right? Boiling the frog slowly.

I am glad however you found your money's worth. I mean that sincerely.

I'm with you.  I've already invested $70 in this P.O.S.... no more money will go to a game controller company.  I'm sticking with my mouse and keyboard, moistly because it's stuck to me because I tend to spill a lot of beverages.  Next time, I do more research - which I thought I had.  Or better?  Next time I wait for the reviews of real people that have played the game and not listen to the official, (obviously) paid reviewers.  Fool me a few times and I'll start to remember these lessons that I thought I'd remember...no, that's not how it goes...

Finally, I managed to finish the game despite all the graphical glitches and crashes. Playing through the game was such a chore. Glitches aside, the game had a weak plot and the combat and missions felt really repetitive after some time. Never preordering a BioWare title ever.

Y'know, you might get more sympathy if you didn't imply that people with a different playstyle than yours are somehow inferior.
