I played games that mostly use the mouse (nwn) and games that mostly use wasd (wiz 8 - which I think by default used the arrow keys but can't remember); to wasd doesn't bother me - what bother me is keys suddenly doing other things like esc opening the console and right click open codex in the middle of combat.

Wizardry 8 is an FPP game essentially. The one, that originated from the genre that had the ability to jump from screen to screen using arrows that covered half your screen. North, South, East, West. :)

So I find the comparison funny, since DA is a TPP game where camera operation is essential.

PS: I'm not hating on Wiz8 here, god forbid. It is a WAY better game than DA:I. More or less, by infinity :P

PS2: I still agree, that keys changing functionality depending on situation is dumb, you got that right. It's just not the whole story here.

Lol! That's all we have left at this point is 'hope' bordering on insanity.

Dunno. Seeing as there is more homosexual relationships in thier games than normall ones, I'd guess the patching process goes something like:

-Coder: I have some sort of a problem with my PC.

-Tech support (pun intended): Is the PC turned ON?

-Coder: I don't know. But I know I am!

- *porn music starts*

So far, it goes in a loop.

They couldn't break the repeating cycle, hence no patch.

The incredibly sad truth is that the only way that I am going to get an acceptable pc version of DA:I is to wait for the release of 'Pillars of Eternity'.  There, I said it.

OMG, we have come to this. Apathy concerning Bioware's ability to even communicate! Sad really. I would add a meme if I could post a gif into this forum.

Yeah, petulance does make people do some pretty irrational things.

I think we're all getting a bit loopy....sniping at each other with no real contact from the outside.(i.e. Bioware information/posts).  Reminds me of that ol' classic Ren & Stimpy "Space Madness" episode... I know that my mind tends to run amok with no real direction after years of being trapped within this capsule - I mean forum.......uhh Houston, errrr Edmonton, we have a problem.  Our game is broken, over....(static).... Oh dear God!   What are we going to do?!?!?!?  Stop breathing in all of my air!!!

I fail to understand how Bioware could insist on WASD AND remove Mouse interface!!

WASD is perfectly fine for player movement but to remove(not implement) mouse control is a complete failure.

WASD may not be ideal or even possible for some players, but to remove mouse functionality is diabolical.

Ideally I would use WASD to move and mouse for attack etc. But that implies auto attack! I have to use W for keep in enemies face, then R to hit!!

But the cursor is so small!!! My bad, no cursor on console. No place for a mouse in RPG's!!

All credibility has gone I think

Pillars looks pretty damn nice. Glad I didn't buy this game. I'll spend my money elsewhere, for now. DA:I sounds like a bargin bin game now.

Quoting myself from another thread (sorry about that, just doing the Bioware dance):

'

@ Lannes 1789

Trying to apply ethical semantics to the business practices of a listed corporation like EA -and to the decisions of top-executive who chose to remain in the company after a buy-out, e.g. Mike and Mark - is almost as useful and pertinent as trying to recite Willam Blake's famous poem to calm a hunting tiger.

We would say, colloquially and loosely translated from my mother tongue: 'as useful as pissing in a violin'. Pardon my French. Pun intended.

And of course everybody respect and appreciate the work of the employees.

If you're interested in understanding where I'm coming from, please read Pen-and-Paper (user) on the Pc community concerns thread and my own modest earlier contributions to this -sadly- sterile debate.

Never again again, Hype, never again.

@Oryctolagus

We meet interesting people while loosing our time, though.

I am in the market to possibly purchase this game, but after doing much research on the forums it seems that it is a risky purchase for pleasure, as more people complain about game bugs then are happy about game play.

Any recommendations on purchasing this game?  Is it stable enough to play and enjoy for 2-4 weeks before I go back to work?

Or are the bugs too detrimental to game play?  Honest feedback is appreciated, as I do not want to waste $50 on a game that is not enjoyable due to lack of fixing problems!

Many thanks

Now, I have no basis for this, but I think that Bioware is trying to teach us all a valuable lesson.  Wasting time playing functional video games is not quite as valuable as having productive, social discourse amongst one another.  Learning new words and absorbing new ideas/info is educational AND fun.

People may see DA:I as a half-empty game, whereas I see it as a half-completed game.  Still some other people might say that Bioware gave us a lemon and that it's time to make the lemonade!  Who's thirsty?  I know that I am - thirsty for knowledge!...(crowd boos)...Uh Ohhh, they're turning on me...

Hmphh, it's such a cover-up.  Why I started this thread in Feedback...

But look at the dialogue...

Strike_Slip: When can we expect a pc UI?

Mark Darrah:  There is a pc UI.

John Quayle  No, no, he meant a good pc UI.

How likely is it that Darrah actually continues the conversation?
