Hmphh, it's such a cover-up.  Why I started this thread in Feedback...

But look at the dialogue...

Strike_Slip: When can we expect a pc UI?

Mark Darrah:  There is a pc UI.

John Quayle  No, no, he meant a good pc UI.

How likely is it that Darrah actually continues the conversation?

When will we create a tactical kb+mouse interface for a game intented to be mindless button-smashing controller game? I would rather dodge this conversation.

Not likely at all. It's pretty sad that he even responded like that, as if he isn't aware of the problems.

Now, now, let's all take a deep breath. No need to be doomsayers. They have stated that Patch 2 was a foundation going forward. Here, I quote from BioWare:

Beyond Patch 2 we’ll continue to release patches that focus on gameplay improvements. We’ve already lined up a number of improvements and fixes we’d like to include in Patch 3, and of course we’ll continue listening to you to make sure we’re addressing your concerns.

I wanted to call out a few specific topics as well, as they relate to patches:

Keyboard & Mouse controls – Patch 2 includes the first range of fixes towards addressing the feedback we’ve received on the PC controls; it cleans things up so you’ll see fewer problems with the current layout. This gives us a more stable base upon which to work. After Patch 2 goes out, our next priority is to improve the PC mouse/keyboard controls further. We’re investigating how to expand on PC usability and functionality to address specific requests from the community.

They are working on it, don't worry. I believe that most people who are concerned with the PC controls, myself included, knows this. There is no need to go around, throwing your hands up in desperation and waiting for the sky to fall. It'll be OK! Trolling or antagonizing the developers, or being impudent and rude will do nothing but paint us (we who want good and proper PC controls) in a bad light.

It's the holidays, it's the new year. I urge everyone to be patient and understanding, and treat everyone with respect. Feel free to discuss of course, but do so in a civil manner.

When the holidays are over the developers will be back to work and we'll get a patch. When? When it's done and properly tested, I wager, which is as it should be.

Nice screen shot up there...and "awesome fans"....what is that?  It's as if Console-gamers are awesome because they just buy $60 game discs and STFU.  Oh wait....maybe that is Bioware's point there...  What about us PC-gamers?  Don't we get original content anymore?  I am not an animal, I am a human being.  I don't even see the "PC version" of the game in that advertisement, yet there are two versions of the same two consoles....how lazy.  They probably spent 4 years to make that Ad too, which is even more galling....

Okay, I'm doing that thing there again where I go completely, crazy-ape-bonkers...  I have to realize that time is passing me by.  I have to accept this.  Progress=controllers.  I'm just finding it so hard to let go however...it's like I'm trapped in The Fade and Bioware is trying to persuade me to buy a controller for their game and just silently accept it and be quiet...help.

I like the game very much but those bugs are really annoying. I can turn a blind eye for some bugs like lost connection or rare crash to the desktop with no message. Mouse and Keyboard controls could be much better but I've seen worse. The thing that enrage me is DirectX error, playing Dragon Age Inquisition is real pain in the ... . It looks something like this :
1. Launching Dragon Age for first time ( after launching PC)
2. Continue or Multiplayer
3. Playing the game ( 30 - 40 fps)
4. After 5 - 8 minutes (usually it is 5) CRASH DirectX error
5. Launching Dragon Age again
Aftermath :
- no more DirectX error
- FPS drops (15-20), sometimes very low frame rate ( but not always, sometimes everything is okay after DirectX error)

If FPS are really low then Restart PC, wait for DX error ,if Frame rate is good enough, enjoy the game if not return to start (Restart PC).

I've tired many things but nothing helped. I'm having this after patch 2 (I've had DX error before but not in this ritual form) I hope they will fix this DX error in the next patch.

My issues with PC Version in a nutshell.

^^^  My best guess is that Bioware/EA have teamed up with Microsoft and want you to buy a console so that you can properly run this game.

While its likely they are working on it, we haven't seen or heard ANYTHING since that original post almost a month ago.

It was was also stated by them this game was made by PC Gamers for PC Gamers...and we know how that all turned out. So its a bit difficult for me to take their word for it. So i'll bring back a great saying "screenshot or it never happened"....I wanna see proof they are actually working on it and not just blowing smoke up our a$$.

Your optimism is depressing. Did you notice how their PR statement had absolutely nothing specific in it? That alone is enough to cause worry.

Do we know what is being done? What fixes to expect? What fixes not to expect? When to expect them? Anything at all? Nope. We don't even know if they ever got their walk toggle to work - one of the few things we know they were actually working on. Hell, we don't even know if they're even reading this forum anymore; they've been silent as death since announcing patch 3.

So no, there's really not much to be positive about. Well, unless you enjoy empty words from an unreliable company, I guess.

Well, after a lot of trial and error, and digging around in my rig I believe I've solved the DX crash. I found it odd that the game was not crashing, albeit on minimum graphics settings, on my old 2005 model computer and, was crashing on my screaming 2014 custom built gaming rig (way over powered for even Ultra settings.) The game should have worked like a dream on my gaming rig but, it crashed.

After a file by file comparison, I found what the older computer had that my gaming rig did not have aside from games I have on this one that won't run on the older machine.) Visual C++ update 4 was missing form my new rig despite my diligent efforts to make sure it was properly updated. So I installed said update - Voila, DA:I has not crashed in 2 days of 6 hours per day running.

You can get the C++ update here, just choose the one for your system when asked to do so, you only need to DL one of the offered files. http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=30679

Great.  Now we have to compete with the consoles AND the oscilloscope crowd(s) for attention/published games?  Maybe it's the 1/4 French in me, or the 87% Polish, but I'm waving the white flag on this one.  We can't compete with those nerds...what with their scientific calculators and workbenches.

They are a niche crowd, however....wait, I rescind my surrender.  I'm back in the fight....now to pick sides...eeeny, meeeny, miney....why are we fighting again?  Oh yeah, because EA decided that consoles are where the money is at.  I remember now!  You can take away my dignity, but you can never take away my keyboard!!!...(jumps into the fray and smashes keyboard over the head of some 12-year old holding a controller)----> AaGGHHH!!!!!  Into the fray, PC-gamers!...(strangles some slack-jawed goober with my corded mouse)--->

I meant "break his heart" and NOT "rip his heart out".  It wouldn't be anything too unseemly, I assure you.  I'd choose to ignore him, then maybe give him a "Dirty Pair of Pantaloons" at some point.  Then I wouldn't talk to him the entire time that we're in Camp....then in front of everybody else, right before a big, epic battle, I'd give him the old "Ox Bone".  That'd make him think twice....about what I have no idea....

Make him rip out his beard then leave him on the eve of battle.

Bingo! You hit the nail on the head, dead center. And it's very clearly (irony) written and provided for in this legally binding agreement between Microsoft and EA.

Link: http://www.sec.gov/A...rlicenseagr.htm

On the patching process, for instance:

'5.12     Title Updates

5.12.1    All digital patches and updates that are provided to End Users for free and acceptance of which is mandatory for game play (collectively, “Title Updates”) for Software Titles are subject to approval by Microsoft, except as otherwise provided herein. EA may release one Title Update per Software Title free of charge from Microsoft. Any additional Title Updates proposed by EA may be subject to a reasonable charge from Microsoft.(emphasis added) The requirements and charges for Title Updates will be set forth in the Durango Publisher Guide.  '

Durango is XBoxOne.

So much for conspiracy theories...

And to be serious one second:

Learning new intricate and complicated things, meeting interesting people on line, and helping each others without paying for it, is really how the Web should be used. Not to download 10 bucks-virtual armor-mounts-my little Pony haircuts- DLCs'.

Go Poland! Go Witcher! Go private companies!

It's still frustrating to use as the party spawns close to the player if she/he scouts ahead. Typically, I paus outside, say, a cave entrance, noticing that there are a bunch of enemies inside. I order the others to hold position. My char stealths and goes into the cave and when in the middle of it - the team spawns just around her. Which of course was exactly what I tried to avoid in the first place...

In short, the distance for spawning after the player should be lengthened, at least when they are told to hold position.

Yeah this has to be fixed, I remember this happening against lightning dragons - with that spell of theirs, you can imagine the frustration. Teleporting party members end up killing me.

Microsoft makes Windows though. And Microsoft has dumped stupid money into developing DirectX so that it outclasses OpenGL in every way. I really doubt Microsoft is purposefully "conspiring" with EA to screw over PC Users. Specially given that, from anecdotal experience, most serious PC gamers would never say "well DAI sucked on PC, thats it, no more PC gaming--XBOX//PS4 ALL THE WAY!"

But yeah. This is still an awful port. We essentially paid $70 (for those of us that pre-ordered like idiots) to get a paid beta version. A really crappy beta at that since most betas receive frequent patches and community updates. They should really give everyone some form of credit/refund for making us an unwilling QA team.

They have done this in the past; Xbox exclusive titles. Console-favoritism has always been Bioware's flaw, and it looks like they are starting again on this trend.

They had a good run with DAO and ME2 up to ME3, but now it's happening again.

It's an ongoing negotiation and 'profit-allocation' between business units of the same company (EA or Microsoft). Consoles are much more profitable for publishers, and the average console player is less likely to complain, and more 'gullible', than the Pc crowd.

And sometimes, not to say often, people and companies make mistakes.

My guess is that EA/Bioware underestimated the sheer hatred that a lot of PC customers can feel towards dishonest marketing practices, half-baked software, and so on, on the one hand, AND, on the other hand, overestimated the quality of their game, the loyalty of their younger, left-minded fans, as well as how widely used is the gaming habit of playing with a controller on PC.

To be totally honest, DAI could have been a masterpiece.

Yep, some clowns around the interwebs convinced me "It's sooooo much better with a controller!", and I went and bought one too.

It was even more awkward to play on a controller. All that gave me was the limitations of using the controller, such as less precise panning, awkward skill selection, slower UI interaction, and no ability to directly select the party member i want (no "1-4" available to directly select who I want), and it solved none of the Gameplay issues. So then I was invested nearly $100 into the game, total, and it was still a complete chore to play and I had to stop. Thanks!
