Sacrilege!
I find that scar very endearing
Based on how exploration turned out in DAI and how too much emphasis is on exploration in the new ME as they say, the next Mass Effect has just got a lot less anticipated. I am curious what ways they find to fck up the control on PC for a shooter btw
.
Based on the DA:I controls, I expect you'll be using wasd to look around, arrowkeys to move, and gently smashing your face into the keyboard to shoot... While it'll be possible to jump by pressing left+right mousebutton + F7, all jumps will be performed in a fixed distance straight ahead, as the PC just isn't able to handle fine controlled movement the way a console is...
So, yeah... after way too many hours playing - and requiring Buddha's patience to do it, I've finally finished Dragon Age: Running Simulator.
Aside from the usual already-reported problems with this broken-@ss "game", I've had such treats as crashing entering the war room, crashing turning in resources/requisitions, crashing going to the Undercroft, crashing talking to almost anyone, crashing transitioning from camp-to-camp or crashing walking into or leaving a cave, not to mention crashing on 'click to continue' and crashing when you actually click on 'Quit". Then half the companions being invisible (you can bump into them, but there's no talking to them), Blackwall never being in the barn, Sera never being in the tavern, Bull never being in his seat or Cass never being in her spot, or Varric floating in the air by the fireplace. Super-duper.
Then there's the lovely bit about never, ever being able to complete a specialization for the Inquisitor because none of my Inquisitors can actually harvest anything required. Apparently after the billionth frelling crash, the ability to harvest elfroot or obsidian or anything else for any specialization goes the smeg away, no matter how much of the crap you pick, so no spec'ing, no helping healers or forging anything special. Yee-friggin'-haw. Then there's the repeating requisition jobs, like salvaging ships on the Storm Coast over and over and over, which is all well and good for 'power', but not so good after it too glitches out and you can never ever ever fulfill another req-request for the rest of the game. Then you also can't craft anything because you can never get the necessary materials, no matter how much of them you actually have.
Then the only way to actually finish this "game" is to find a stinkin' trainer and cheat your way to the end and hope there's any actual story left after you are unable to finish half the quests because of see above. Thus, this "game" has zero replay value. Even if it all worked flawlessly, since 45 minutes of every hour's worth of playtime is in fact devoted to running from place-to-place (and no, the mounts are not an adequate substitute - you miss the tiny bit of banter you might actually get if the gods smile) broken only by the occasional battle with three bandits or the seeming necessity to slaughter every last speck of wildlife in Thedas (nothing is more frightening than when a fennec suddenly goes all red-dot hostile on yo @ss), the effort required to summon up the patience for a second go at that would make the aforementioned Buddha throw his computer out the window with a hearty F-this and two power-middle-fingers at anything remotely elfy or dragonish.
Of course, I'm one of the lucky ones. I didn't pre-order (having learned painfully from ME3) nor did I pay for this train-wreck (playing wife's copy, which was an Xmas presie to her) and those of you who did certainly have my symempathy.
It has taught me and reinforced a few things, however.
One - never, ever, ever, ever pre-order anything ever from Bioware or EA and ignore every scrap of their marketing.
Two - all professional game reviewers are stinkin' bought-and-paid-for liars, but we already knew that.
Three - Marketing is nothing but the production of pretty lies and we won't condemn it for doing its job, but this is just a reminder to be wary of it. 'Game of the Year' for DA:I was not acquired through legit means. Impossible.
Four - game companies, like most companies out there, think we're all barely-functioning cretins.
Five - don't buy Mass Effect:WTF, because it will be an even bigger clusterfook, and y'all know this. You've been warned in rather large ways already by Bioware's last two offerings of ME and DA. Anything after this and we all only have ourselves to blame.
Personally, I'm going back to Far Cry 4. I don't care how much like 3 it is. That's actually in its favour.

I started playing after patch 2 and the missing npc-s ink skyhold is a thing. I missed Iron Bull's "loyalty mission" because he was almost never there and i gave up. I installed the game from the actual discs and origin patched it. Sometimes areas dont load after going through a doorway in skyhold and you fall under the castle. I was going from throne room to speak to Solas, fell underground I found there a pumpkin and strange music started to play
. No joke.
Edit: Its not a pumpking after all:

You're either overreacting or you downloaded the game pre-cracked
Wrong to both speculations that's how the game actually is for most people who havent spent their whole life gaming on Console,The M/KB interface was clearly done by some pillock who has spent their entire life with a Controller and thinks a M/KB on a PC is some exotic new fangled thingygummy. And that's assuming you can get the games to run stable or after patch 2 stop it from attempting to cook your Graphics Cards( the temps on my 2 R9 290's in Crossfire increased by over 10C after Patch 2).After the 1st playthrough I avoid the pointless requisitions since its just rinse-repeat mineral surveys and other assorted fetch quest B.S.
It seems Ubisoft now have stiff competition in the "how to make a ****** poor PC port" department. Why do you think Mr Darrah and Gaider have not come back in here and come in respectively after that piece of lying 2 faced dishonest "Made by PC Gamers for PC Gamers" video?

Well, I should elaborate and say that my list of things borked about this game is a general overall list after a couple of attempted playthroughs - and not the result of just one. The game was also legitimately purchased and downloaded. If I'm gonna steal, I'm gonna steal stuff worth stealing.
And it's hardly overreacting. It just so happens that this "game" is a rather large pile of pretty errors and idiotic glitches, more's the pity.

"Pillock". That's a great word. I like that word a lot. Thank you for using it. ![]()
After reading all the posts I am not sure if I should wait on purchasing. I still need to play through Origins and DA 2 before moving forward to this game. That gives me plenty of time and I am sure the price will be around the same or less than it is during Origins sale for the Deluxe version. I just started to get back in the DA:O on PC and had spent more time playing the Xbox 360 version before but like the PC version better.
I get maybe one crash a day where it locks up on an area loading screen. The only other bugs I have encountered are ones related to items giving ability/stats bonuses. Game is about 11ty more playable than any Bethesda game.

Not sure after reading this? This thread became the "why you should not under all circumstances buy the game ever" vs "at least wait for patch" argument. ![]()

Wait and save your money (if thinking of getting for the PC),right now it needs a lot of work, for all the flaws DA2 had at least it had a good M/KB UI instead of the consolized crap DAI has. If you enjoy DAO and DA2 as I did then DAI in its current state will just annoy you as its lacking some of the basic things both DAO and DA2 had,the AI and tactic's have been dumbed down, the AI is terrible bordering on suicidal, the framerate is all over the place.Just avoid till its at least 50% off in a sale.
To anyone still waiting to buy DA:I - keep waiting. It sure as hell isn't worth eighty bucks. Or forty. Barely worth twenty. Wait until patch twenty. Or maybe patch thirty. Maybe.
As of this afternoon, it's official - I cannot now complete a single specialization for my Inquisitor - was going for "Way of The Templar" and just literally watched it break. Needed twenty embrium. Was collecting and it was working fine. Got to 14, picked another, got the "You got embrium x8! Good for you for hopeless sack of crap!" Nope. Bad for me. Now it won't update at all, no matter how much fecking embrium you pick up. And the templars now drop nothing but wool. Aces. Just bloody golden. I suspect it may have something to do with the perk about getting more from the plants you harvest. Taking it breaks harvesting. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
I also cannot upgrade Skyhold. The quarries and logging stands do the same thing harvesting plants does. The only thing gratifying is that my Inquisitor has the best legs and tightest ass on Thedas from all the endless damn running to find things futile. Yeah, it's my own fault.
There was no way on this side of the blue end of hell there was any extensive bug hunt - at least for the PC side of things - for this game before release. Not remotely and anything said otherwise is a crock of crapola.
Game of the Year. Me arse was game of the year.
Feh.
FIX THIS GAME! There are so many bugs in sp/mp with abilities and the door keys glitching out that its ridiculous.
the tactical cam is still as bad as it ever was in sp too.
Also there's no way this legitimately got GoTy title. Maybe on pathetic consoles but that never happened on pc. If something as bad as this can get goty then gaming itself is flushing down the toilet. It doesn't matter how unpolished or how buggy a game is, it can still get goty? bs.

I also have 2 R9 290's and avoided cooking them by putting "-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+" in the game properties. Also activating "mantle" makes the game almost crash free and yes I know by activating mantle the max FPS drops. But I rather have a stable game to max FPS.
Wow, the amount of trolling on this last page is absolutely staggering ![]()
DA:I may have some Bugs, but at least for me, they were not game breaking. Hell, I just noticed about two bugs, one was (I assume) even caused by my graphicscard being overclocked too much.
I have about 90 hours in gameplay, had in complete 3 crashs (2 of which might be due to ocing) and was not able to complete one quest.
The M/KB controls are pretty much OK. I mean, you move with WASD, jump with Space and look around with your mouse while holding the right mousekey. THAT'S IT. Is that so complicated ? Oh, yeah I forgot, you weren't able to jump in DA:O, so that might be confusing
But otherwise the controls (apart from the really somehow broken, but never really needed tactical camera) are the same as in DA:O.
I suggest watching the PC-Port report by TotalBiscuit, as he is one of the few game reviewers I trust, and I can absolutely confirm his observations.
The graphics are good, playing the game on a GTX970 maxing out the game even on 2560x1440 is possible whil containing decent framerates. Playing in 4k is possible, with about 25fps with one GTX970 on almost everything maxed, a SLI setup could be running the game just fine.
Guys, what did you expect ? Running the game with a 7870 in full hd at max details ? Sorry to dissapoint you.
And no, I'm no fanboy, I'm well aware of the problems of this game, but I'm sick of people complaining about this being a sh***y pc-port. Then go play AC:U, you will have fun there ![]()
Nope, not nuts. The notion was released into the universe.
Bethgael, can you offer any insight on the reviewer Angry Joe? He seems to be a tarnished hero amongst some of our gaming fellows.
Not a one. Don't know him. The only "gaming" you-tuber I actually listen to on a regular basis is The Spoony Experiment, and even him not a lot lately. I don't have time. ![]()

Thanks everyone. Will be holding off for now but will keep an eye on things and see how they progress. There were so many good games out at discount prices I have more than enough to play without rushing into a game needing some work.

I'm not sure how you can say the controls are "the same as" DA:O right after you dismiss the tactical camera as being unnecessary.
DA:O was all about tactical combat and its control scheme supported it. This is not true for DA:I.
Not to mention missing click to move, autoattack, click to loot, moving with rmb+lmb, not attacking when you try to click and move the camera around... i could keep going

So what's the point of this ? that the control scheme in origins was terrible if it wasn't for the tactical view ?
If you think so, then i'm sorry, i don't think so. The controls while not using the tactical mode in Origins are, as far as I remember, almost identical. So basically what you are complaining about is the bad tactical mode in Inquisition. Which I admit is not the best, but it's not a problem of the "general" controls. And remember, although it is not as easy as in Origins, you can still give your companions orders to move there, attack enemies with that and so on.

Move the camera around? alright, lets just remember that you have to click lmb to attack, and rmb to move the camera, and regarding loot, what did you expect ? clicking one time and your char will autmatically loot every box ?
Everything else -> Tactical camera related, not a general problem of the controls.
Since I know that, you being you, you will assume I'm saying this escapist vote is rigged, let me clarify: I'm NOT saying that. It's very likelly completelly legit. I'm saying it CAN be rigged just as much as a judge election can. Also, I'm betting on Shadow of Mordor or Destiny (maybe even Bayonetta 2) taking the title, but I would laugh my ass off at some of the posters on this thread if Dragon Age Inquisiton won.
Of course THEN they would call bullcrap, stupidity of the masses, all that stuff. But I would laugh.
Sorry for coming here just for this, but I just had to:

Heh. Heheh. Haha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! HAH! Hah.
Ok, I'm done.
Sorry.
(For the record I still yearn for a decent patch and Inquisition is still not my GOtY, but from the look of things it's almost as if - *gasp* - a lot of people actually like the game - which is what I was defending all those posts ago.)
