^^^  It seems that you constantly lowered your expectations game-wise as you went forward in the game.  See....I can't do that.  I don't want to ruin the potential of that initial experience.  Replaying is one thing...playing it for the first time is another.  IF this game is going to be playable (granted by my standards), then I'd rather savor and enjoy it.

I'm sure you already know, (or maybe you don't) because I post in here so damn much, but I am doing the same thing.  I refused to start the game back on release night (12:01 am, Nov 18th).  Mostly because I had been since Aug. very present (and active) during all the discussions of what was and wasn't in the pc version.  Also there had been quite a few early reviews by that time that had detailed the pc ui and all it's FAILs, and I knew I would subconsciously focus more on them than I would the story, the graphics, the journey back into Thedas I had been waiting for.  And then reading all the posts and watching the reaction vids by pc gamers of the extent of the cover-up that was actually apparent after that feel-good stream by Laidlaw and Cameron Lee.  No, I was not going to ruin my experience if I was forced to play a Dragon Age game like a shooter.

As you can imagine, my mood has not improved...

first you get warning strikes, i got two for defending the game ;) (ok maybe a bit for insulting of trolls people I disagreed with, who are human beings with emotions just like myself)

Fixed  ;)

^^^ Yes, for me it has.  It seems that the industry has moved towards consoles, thus leaving me and my roots.  I will adapt - to a point, but the industry will come back to me.  I have history on my side.  Consoles come and go...sometimes that industry implodes. The "Electronic Arts" of the worlds always needs us PC-gamers.  I have great alternative (indie) games to tied me over until the industry corrects itself yet again.  This isn't even a glacial change at all.  In a few years, the "brains" at EA/Micro$oft/Sony/Ubisoft/whocares will figure out that they neglected their loudest voice.  Oooops.

The AI is... functional is the word I would use. Much beyond that it is not. Occasionally you may experience a crick in your neck after some of the head tilting decisions your party members make.

Lol. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Brogan - We're probably of like mind.  You're more vehement about things than I...or more vociferous, but that's also a good thing.  We PC-gamers need this sort of passion.  I simply don't normally have the time...business/work and all.  I wonder if Booware realizes that they made me spend more time with my in-laws this Holiday?  That's almost a crime right there...

I won't bend your ear unless you actually want to have a conversation about it, but I personally don't see much value in words like 'troll' or 'fanboy'. I don't know if you are joking or seriously claiming this is a case of political correctness (Protect the trolls! Trolls have feelings too! Stand up for troll rights!). To my mind such terms are seldom used appropriately and add nothing of substance to argument. They are very useful for antagonising or marginalising people however.

^^^  Very true.  One person can take my post to mean something and helpful, and another person can see it as me being a "troll".  It's rather subjective.  Some people come on here and have a predisposition towards a certain emotional state.  That's very human, but so are the varying of responses.  I am here to find a solution about the game that I purchased. I want it fixed/patched as well as Bioware can.  Other than that?  I'm still here and reading posts and occasionally commenting upon some of them.  I have my own opinion about things.

I'm not a troll....but from the outside it could look like that I suppose.  I feel compelled to humor myself and learn and interact whilst I wait for something that may never come...

That's why I (try to) never assume someone is trolling (i.e. fishing for certain responses in a disingenuous & provocative manner) and engage with the substance of their comments instead. Not that 'trolling' can't be done well to humorous effect, I just don't think it a meaningful word as a pejorative, so why use it as such?

Because the masses are asses....and they seem to need labels.  A compartmentalized mind is easier to manage.

I wonder if I can paste text now?  Nope.  Well at least I can "like" a post now....still no "quoting" posts however and I have an extra warning point.  What a weird/illogical place.

Why not? Would it not be potentially elucidating?

Internet trolling certainly is a thing. We'll have to disagree that it is unrelated to differences of opinion.

is it just me or has the entire industry taken one big downward spiral the last... what 7 years or so? I blame EA, and steam... mainly EA (as I blame steam for everything, doesn't matter if steam had anything to do with it or not)

When did the first console arrive?

Say no more

Anyway....you should all keep up the good fight or at least complain loudly.  Remember, there's a party banter bug to worry about so it's not like you can't be heard over the din of the party members talking.  The developers/programmers will hear you.  Okay, the Moderators will hear you.  I'm living proof....tonight I wear this scar proudly...okay, it's just a warning point, but it looks cool when I get on my Harley---PEACE---OUT----->

Yeah, that's why I love open development and crowdfunding that much. I don't know whether the real officials at Bioware are even allowed to talk openly about such topics with EA having the last word on everything...

I don't know the Bioware guys personally. It's quite possible that they are all nice people indeed. But I'm not criticising them on a personal level, I criticise their work as game designers and programmers. The problem is that they are truly out of synch with their fanbase. Their initial reaction to the complaints about the ME3 ending was the biggest prove for that. We all hoped that they would have learnt their lesson but it doesn't seem so. They still seem to sit in their ivory towers far away from their fanbase, especially on PC.

I would recommend everyone at Bioware reading that blog post since DAI proved again that there is something wrong in the basic thinking pattern of AAA devs these days: http://www.theastron...your-aaa-brain/

Oh, and this one as well. It's about how immersive game worlds should be designed: http://www.theastron...ve-game-worlds/

Pillars of Eternity and Witcher 3 can't come soon enough to get over the mediocre experience of DAI... ;)

Sure, I get you, it was just the 'not caring' comments that misled me to what you were saying. It certainly seems like Bioware is out of touch with its fans if we look to certain comments from prominent figures as indicative of Bioware's general culture. They haven't exactly been responding well to criticism publicly.

It's no wonder why so many AAA devs go indy.

Thanks for the articles, I loved the second one in particular. That's how you create a world to explore!

I see the same glitches, frustration, and Bioware's indifference to the PC users.  That being said, am I crazy for enjoying the game despite the issues? The characters, artwork, and music are all really great.  I am digging the story and lore.

I think it's overboard to say they're completely out of touch.  Are they communicating very well? Absolutely not, that's indisputable.  Does the game suck? I actually don't think so. It just suffers from Bioware's focus on the PC.  It really sucks for us that the PS4 was their primary SKU and everything moved out from there.

With respect to PC-specific issues, I'd say "out of touch" is pretty accurate.

The PC controls and UI are working as intended, yet the issues with them are immediately obvious to anyone accustomed to a mouse-based control scheme. The rather obvious problems throughout this thread suggest that there was a severe disconnect between the game designers and the players.

Even discounting the control problems, the UI itself seems to be designed as a 10-foot interface. PCs generally need a 2-foot interface. This kind of oversight is the hallmark of a bog-standard port.

Hey-at least SWTOR was playable on PC... They should've just made it single player and called it KOTOR 3.

Yea, that was a good read.  But it's something you can tell Laidlaw and Darrah didn't read until way too late...

Replace the word console (because they've always been around) with the first major marketing venture for a multi-platform AAA game.

Can't think of what game it might have been, but once the big boys figured out they could piggyback on almost everything the people doing excellent pc only games were putting out, overall quality began it's nosedive.

Oh, Brogan, bless you for thinking they have read it. ;)

I actually googled what game that might have been, and didn't find it (I am in the middle of another research project so will get back to it when I'm not on someone else's clock)... but I did find this interesting piece:
