PC Community Concerns

Granted, some things could've been done differently, like inventory, and some features should've been present, but were not, like tab targeting and aoe highlight that NWN2 had, but overall, I've always found NWN UI to be fast, responsive, easy to use and relatively comfortable, especially for persistent world playthrough.

I think this should be posted here.
An experienced concept artist talks about design in AAA games. It is a good insight about how the EA mind works, make your own conclusion about the playability of the PC version.

I see the same glitches, frustration, and Bioware's indifference to the PC users. That being said, am I crazy for enjoying the game despite the issues? The characters, artwork, and music are all really great. I am digging the story and lore.
Not at all. Dragon Age Inquisition has a lot to offer. One's enjoyment of it will be determined not only by our preferences, but also by how important certain features/issues are to us and thus our inclination to overlook flaws. Video games are funny things. When a game 'works' for me, if I'm 'into it', I can overlook all manner of bugs and annoyances.
I'd also say that some of the games I've enjoyed the most (or at least played the most) aren't objectively 'great' games.
I think it's overboard to say they're completely out of touch. Are they communicating very well? Absolutely not, that's indisputable. Does the game suck? I actually don't think so. It just suffers from Bioware's focus on the PC. It really sucks for us that the PS4 was their primary SKU and everything moved out from there.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of absolutist language (or thinking for that matter, except for stuff like maths) either, and to be clear I don't think that Crashy was doing so, nor do I assume that you were suggesting this of them. I can totally (
) get behind someone viewing Inquisition as a mediocre game when they can explain why they see that with meaningful criticism. Doesn't mean the game can't still be provide fun either.

Sì, SIA qualunque. Che dire di Una risposta Bioware?
The only way and go on Twitter to deliver applications and updates ... and absurd ... I here by now when I think of grim always good news that give me a bit of hope in having a game playable but instead ... what I find are the same old things, people who complain daily checks, Gilch, bug, Freez and so on and so forth, well I'm stanto in 2015 and we expect to have a game running! I'm tired of seeing the game play on You tube, or read the other comments of others who have played! as if anyone cared about the real problems of pc users are tired! tired of having a game on a computer that I only occupies space, tired of a company that not only me fooled me spacciandomi this game as a game for PC gamers, but also other people like me hoping for a wonderful game.

As much as I love the story due to being forced to use a controller along with all its flaws and limitations for no other reason than the M/KB UI was designed by a pillock who has never used a M/KB after 330+hrs I find it myself less and less compelled to finish my other 8 characters or to start any new ones.

1. For multiplayer I think one of the biggest EVERY community concern is the key not dropping issue. I removed the DLC so not getting it anymore but did 'like' the extra stuff the DLC added so would appreciate this being fixed soon. Someone also pointed out that this bug has a higher chance of happening due to elementalist firestorms so now I"m seing multiple matches where an elementalist joining gets kicked out of the party ASAP.
2. Also, the reaver/rampage bug is still happening so there is STILL no good 2hand class to play (lets face it kitari are useless unless you have a keeper/ele following them around with barrier).
3. Joining a game in progress where you get frozen at the door. Can still see, talk, attack, everything but move.
4. Armor bug? apparently theres a bug since DLC that makes it so armor applies no defense whatsoever now? Not sure on this one.
Anyways a quick response by a bioware employee on these concerns would be GREATLY appreciated because after looking through all these and the EA forums (which is kinda odd that the 'technical support' forums are strictly players helping players figure out workarounds?) I have not seen an official post at all about these issues.

On the one hand, I didn't mind KOTOR, yet it was as shallow as DA:I is, strategically. Perhaps even shallower.
The vast majority of Bioware games are strategically shallow, DAO included. Bioware wasn't great for the tactical complexity of their games, but for their storytelling and characters management and development.

No, Bioware was great because I enjoyed making character builds in their games. Now I don't anymore. DA2 was kind of good but it took away the joy of making builds. The only joy for me in RPGs. I even played MMORPGs alone just for the sake of making builds.
Talking about MMORPGs, Inquisition is the NCSoft of offline RPG, it says it is RPG but it is in fact action game in disguise.
I, and I acknowledge I am minority, care nothing for story, companions, etc, writing in general, I care for character builds, they did not deliver.
I play all kinds of **** because they allow me to make character builds like Sacred and other shitty games. If there is build, there is joy. No build, no joy. The top 2 experiences of my life with builds were Neverwinter Nights 2 and Trickster Online, they are the 2 games closest to perfection. Gameplay mattered nothing. Story, nothing (however NWN2MotB is also the best story I've ever payed, specially the evil ending is ..gasmic). Nothing mattered, nothing will ever matter but builds, so Bioware died for me. I guess people can still take joy in "crafting building", I tried, didn't work, even with all tier 3 schematics and tier 4 materials (for my builds tier 3 were better).
I am not saying they should make games only thinking about what I like but I see no reason to let go of this joy of making character builds. Why they would take it from me? Aw yeah, because console dumbs can't use simple shallow logic to put 1+1 and make a build. So they take it from me. Like Diablo 3 did (well I didn't care much for Diablo 2 stat builds so it hurted less, but skill-wise it was brutal butchery).
I'm not saying everyone who likes this game is dumb but they took away my beloved stat distribution builds because of dumb people. If you are not dumb you may like builds or not but if you are dumb you can't like it because you are dumb and you die because you can't make a proper character so you hate stats and developers make a dumbed down game for you. And spoil my game.
I kind of liked building character in Wasteland 2, perhaps I should focus my interest there. Divinity OS did not present me with option I really liked but it is still good for builds, but the limit of stats killed it for me... When we are going to see SPECIAL again? Nah, it matters not, now it is 3D shooter bullshit I hate =(
Anyway, I hope I can curse Inquisition and the developers for thousands of years to come, and in heaven, for eternity.

When I was 18, 12 years ago I didn't even bother with complexity. And I can perfectly rationally explain why I like complexity IN STATS/ATTRIBUTES/whateveryouwanttocallit specifically. I hate complexity in strategy combat, like in Divinity, I HATE IT. Not everything I use as an argument is something I like, because I can perfectly separate what I like and what is good/well done.
So first your post was directed towards somethings I'm not. I' not young, I HATE difficulty, challenge and complexity in gameplay. HATE. I just don't play games with it. I didn't even play Disgaea just because it had different types of ground (squares your character stand into) and it was a factor in gameplay. That is how uch I hate complexity.
[...]
So yeah, I hate tactical combat and complexity in general but I accept it because it usually comes with my real need, a good stat system. I need it because no simples system gave me what I needed up until exactly now. [...]
Edit: Also, functionality. This word is poison, hell, doom. I despise functionality more than anything in my life. Even in real life I hate how people let go of subjective and creative choices in favor functional, even when it means life or death. If my life was an RPG my enemy would be called Functionality. Things don't have to function, they have to represent you, no matter how useless they are (like most y builds are).
So... you hate the two things that made Dragon Age good... tactics and the characters...

Remember, though, that the PC is only one of five platforms, four of which use the control system the game was designed for. That is pretty much guaranteed to make any PC-only complains a minority. On top of that, some PC players will use a controller, others will play the game like a bog-standard action-RPG, and others just won't care either way. The whole "it's a minority" thing is probably true.
Uh-huh. Uh-huh. And who will still be buying--and modding--a good PC CRPG many, many years after the console pundits have moved on and the formats for Sony and Microsoft are no longer viable?
Yep. PC users. Long-term, PC is where the money is.
I'll say again, PC copies of Morrowind are still being pressed and sold 12 years later. Meanwhile, can't get a good spanking-brand-new, right off the machines copy of A Bard's Tale anywhere. ![]()

I did what I wasn't going to do, which is bump the difficulty up because it was getting too easy. I knew it would be bad, but scads of people are playing the game on Nightmare happily, so I figured with a controller it wouldn't be that bad. Kudos to them. It was too aggravating and tedious for me with the current AI and control scheme. This isn't PC specific, however, it's the way things are designed. I will probably revisit the game when a PC patch is released, but I think this is another Amalur for me. Just not enough to keep me interested in fighting through the annoyances to see the end. I'd rather read a book "for the story". I don't spend a hundred hours plus fighting with the cover of a book to get to the meat. Moving on, toodles.

It still wouldn't be all that bad if Bioware just told us honestly that DAI was a pure console game with PC just being a cheap cash-in. We all know EA. We all know that they usually don't have a clue about the gaming community or even the overall gaming business (there is a reason why they usually make that little profit). We all know that they don't really care about PC.
But if somebody tells us that the game is "A PC game made for PC gamers by PC gamers" we take them at their word. It's just that simple.
You guys remember that pathetic video?
Laidlaw and Lethtonen basically lied us straight into the face while they HAD to know as high tier employees that PC was clearly not their primary platform and that the whole game was not designed as a PC experience and that even the "PC specific HUD" is just lackluster compared to what the offered us in the past (e.g. in Origins).

They run out of time and thats what the game feels like , a good beta version game. The lieing part... i am pretty sure it revolves around having a publisher and having debts to pay... what are a few lies to tell to feed the greed monster while stepping on the fools who fall for it and buy the game.
I sure the dev team tried their best but didnt make it on time and the publishing team lied their way to the profits...
Thats the problem with big companies there are to many greedy people around those that need their money just like mosquito that circle around a healthy animal need its blood and dont give a ... about the damage done to it.

I have a friend looking into the possibility of it being unlawful to fully release a game in working order, then patch it into an unworkable state once the money has rolled in. I'll keep you informed of how that goes.

In all honesty I cannot conclude that anyone lied, and I doubt anyone else here can rightly so conclude.
There was a poster early in the thread (I think it was this thread) who evidently believed any and every PC enthusiast must use an Xbox One controller rather than keyboard & mouse. It may be that Mike L. was surprised to learn that us primitives exist, and may even be numerous in the wild. Next thing you know we'll try entering text commands or exhibit some other barbaric display.
So the game may well have been built by PC gamers-who-use-console-controllers FOR PC gamers-who-use-console-controllers.

There's nothing wrong with the release and the current state of the game in terms of commercial law and consumer law for EU. You only lose time and may see additional trials if EA/Bioware brings up the "harming our commercial standing" card. I'm not an expert on USA laws though.
Ethics, that's another story.
P.S: This is not a legal advice and solely ideas of my own.

I'm a massive fan of Dragon age, and I'm really disappointed as i can't play the third instalment ( DAI) because I own a mac not a pc. My question is the following one: will there be in some future an os x version of the game? Many thanks in advance from a desperate fan ![]()
