Sadly you will never find that kind of communication with publisher owned studios like Bioware. They hate being honest and they don't see their communities as fellow gamers but as mere consumers and customers. Eat or die.

Sure you will ... in the months leading up to a major release.  Look at all the communication we had from the team leading up to launch.  As long as it serves the selling of products, it happens.  Post sale/release, not so much.

I was talking about HONEST communication, not about marketing. ;)

It's obvious now that Bioware have been blinded by their own glory. Patching only gets in the way of 'basking'.

We as hardcore gamers have to raise our demand for different products. Maybe we are no millions but we are a significant market number. Crowdfunding in gaming got in parts at least popular due to that unsatisfied demand. Just have a look at Divinity Original Sin. It sold more than 500,000 copies in the first view weeks. That's indeed a significant number imo. If you ask me crowdfunding and open development is the future of gaming for the core hardcore gaming audience while AAA will more and more leave this market altogether. But who knows, much can happen in that fast living market...

And look at the number of patches D:OS got. And then look all the changelogs.

And what is Bioware doing, when they have more money and resource to fix their game.

Oh, I expect 2015 to be the year for ME4. Expect marketing to ramp up with concept art, interviews, sample videos... same as DAI.

What I expect from fans who attend the PAX events to ask hard questions. Also, once the ME4 Forums are opened up, for online fans to ask hard questions.

Well, Now that my Carpal is acting up,  I can say I finished it. I lost a good 100+ hours on it.  Beautiful game. Then I loaded up my FarCry4. I can't believe that the only really good thing about the game is the visuals... and a shooter like FC4 BLOWS those visuals out of the water!  I coulda just been playing ESO.. maybe I would have made my VR14... all in all. Shoulda taken my refund, ran and not looked back. But there was hope... ah well, at least Now I canshelve it, and get on with other things.  I forget who said it first, but it is summed up nicely here:

It's quite obvious what Bioware is doing. Overprized DLCs instead of patches to fulfil EA's DLC plan...

I do not think any hardcore gamer would be overly interested in DA series since DA2 and It became pretty obvious that indie studios or kickstarter campaigns is the only chance for a good RPG game for a hardcore or old school gamer.

If you ask me best game I platyed in 2014 was Wasteland 2 and just after that Divinity Original Sin. Now I am just waiting for Pillars of Eternity, Age of Decadence and Tides of Numenera.

Most of AAA titles I treat like placeholders becouse times had changed ang developers have different targets now. Old school RTS and RPG just do not bring enough money anymore so we are left with kickstarter and hope.

What i expect is massive number of people get hyped, blindly belive in every promise and massively preordering the game just like with DA:I.

It will never change

Absolutely true. But Bioware told us that they brought tactical gameplay from Origins back and that' why we're angry. ;)

If you like real tactical games I would recommend Valkyria Chronicles as well if you can stomach Anime/JRPG graphics.

I've played Paradox's WW2 grand strategy games for years... you need to be somewhat of a grognard to play though.

They will eventually announce DLC-s. I am curious what comes first: patch or the first dlc :D.

Fair is fair.... Laidlaw said hybrid ... something between dao and da2. I'm not sure what I got when I installed DAI.

Yeah I put the game away after purchase, I got maybe 10 hours realized it was really bugged out (banter issue and others) and put it away. Now I'm hoping one day we get a patch 3 that makes the game playable and worth my limited gaming time. Maybe before summer, if we are lucky?

Can't wait for Patch 3, it's going to be awesome to play with proper PC controls(heard so many great things about this game, and I'm loving all these awards!). Hope BioWare are well rested from their Holidays. =)

No rush, get it right, that's the most important part.

Maybe, but I suspect people were thinking hybrid in the "strengths of both, weaknesses of neither" way, rather than the "horrible mutant begging for the sweet release of death" way.

Actually if they included a tactics system similar or rather identical to Origins it would succeed being a hybrid. While you are slashing with one character the others would do what you set them to do. They would perform combos to your actions and everything by the book (your book). Even if you most of the time dont even control any of the party members it would still be a tactical combat while "you push buttons and always something awesome happens". They did not even include predefined templates. Oh wait, there is template... follow or defend.

Maybe the engine is hard to work with (like i should care about that) and they said **** it. Funny thing is they even mention it in the "made by pc gamers for pc gamers" video everyone was telling them not to use the engine for this game.

Edit: Or the average console joe cant be bothered with a tactical system like this. Well basically they spam 4 ****** buttons what should one expect? Starting to be edgy.

The game still has potential if the devs are willing to listen to the community in my opinion. I still enjoyed the writers/actors/artists' work, and action mode can be alot better on PC for me if mouselook can be toggled and block can be on a mouse button - I used an external program for this but it's causing glitches in tactical camera.

As for the tactical gameplay, if they don't want to overhaul the current lacking tactics system they should at least make the tactical camera more intuitive. It shouldn't be a hassle to give simple commands, or to view the battlefield. Automatic angle switching should be an option, not forced - it divides the two modes instead of having a smoother gameplay experience.

In addition:

- Need to zoom out to view the battlefield (like with mod)

- Companions should be able to interact or revive others through orders

- Queuing actions is needed

For example, when a dragon does its wing flapping attack I need my ranged companions to move to a location and hold position. Currently I order them to move and then they suicide themselves by trying to escape. Have to pause, unpause, pause, and repeat frame by frame to make sure they stay put.

Or for attack sequences and targeting, like I would want Sera to take a flask of fire and then proceed to full draw all the enemy ranged mobs however I can only do this manually and walk her through it everytime. Queuing actions would fix this.

Or they can just bring back the tactics system and I can do this:

1) Enemy asleep/panicked -> Jump to tactic 4

2) Enemy using ranged attack -> Flask of Fire

3) Enemy using ranged attack -> Full Draw

4) Enemy using ranged attack -> Attack

One or the other and I'm happy.

Polygon is the worst gaming outlet I know. Full of hipsters and people who actually hate traditional gaming and gamers. Full of people who think they could decide how good games should look like. Full of journalists who like to preach instead of informing and catering to their actual audience.

I once liked them for their nice investigative articles and background stories. But in the past few months they have turnt into the bulwark of gaming adversaries...

No wonder they gave DAI a GOTY award. Inclusive? Yes? 10/10. Who cares about gameplay?
