I feel that BiowareEAware treats me like a 4 y.o kid with OCD and ADHD. Oooooohhhh....shiny! Let...let me...MASH MY BUTTONS AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Today I've managed to make my own Marching Band, I call them: Inquisitorium Stupidum.

How ridiculous is this? Swinging their staffs like every mage in history of fantasy ever!

I f********** hate that animation since DA2 this became so RIDICULOUS.

I think the problem is with the PC controls on Inquisition, that they've changed direction.

With Origins it is clear that the PC UI was worked on and then they thought "how can we make this work on the consoles?" And you know what? They did a damn good job of it....

The PC controls aren't bad, the hotbar feels limiting, but at their basic they are the same as one of the methods for the previous two. It's clear that Bioware's vision of PC controls has become extremely narrow.

*snipped*

Exactly my point of view  :(   I really really hope Bioware will broaden their view again and re-implement some of the m/kb controls and UI possibilites from Origins.

I've been mostly throwing tomatoes at Inquisition (and some flowers for beautiful environments), but the staff combat animation IS SO COOL B) The one in Origins always looked boring to me, so when Bioware did the new staff animation in DA2 I loved it. Glad to see it's still here in Inquisition :)

I don't expect patch 3 to fix the PC Controls, for one thing the current controls are ideal for multiplayer. Which is why I never going to buy another Bioware game anymore.

You do know that it was Bioware who started this thread, right? With the express purpose of collecting feedback?

I'm pretty sure they're looking here. The problem is that looking is all that they're doing.

No, I hadn't the slightest clue that Mark Darrah was a Bioware employee. I'm only relaying information that was stated by Bioware themselves back on the old BSN forums, for those who are new here. Take it however you will.

I don't know why or how Bioware developers (DA:I developers specifically) came to the conclusion that the UI in DA:I was good enough or even presentable for PCs or that the mouse&keyboard controls were adequate for PC, but I don't doubt they did so with all sincerity.

They did not want to release a bad product for PC. That being said, their intentions are of course unknown to me, but looking at the game and after playing it for 30 hours, seeing the effort that went into it, it's hard to believe otherwise.

In all honesty, I think the m&k controls are on par for a console port, most general keys can be mapped and it's functional.. ish. But the game is made to be experienced with a controller. I can't even choose to walk if I use a keyboard.

But the UI, that is a special kind of a disaster. I dread using the inventory. Looking at text descriptions of items, and in a scrolling list of items where I can only view four at a time (!)

I find it severely annoying that the avatar is automatically equipped in the inventory 3D rendering with an item just by choosing the item, but not actually equipping the character with the item. It's confusing - did I equip that thing or not? Of course one learns that eventually, but that's not the point.

The UI is all too large, too confusing and wastes so much space. Scrolling down in the Codex on one entry means I start scrolled down to the bottom of the next entry I read. Also, something I learn, but confusing.

The Codex is hidden away in the main menu, it doesn't even get a Codex button in the bottom right hand corner like most other main functions. It doesn't even have a keybinding. It's not supposed to be obfuscated, I think. The game refers to it all the time. Also, the indicators (the white stars that appear on unread Codex entries) blend in far to easily with some of the Codex card-backs so it is very hard to see which Codex entries are read and which are unread.

When I'm crafting, adding an upgrade to a weapon, a big red label is plastered over the 3D rendering of the weapon, so I have to finish the upgrade before I can see the upgrade - because it was plastered with a red label.

I have developed a serious aversion into looking at the inventory and crafting screen. I don't want to use it, that is bad. That's not a PC specific issue exactly, but kind of, because this is a UI alien to PCs.

The character stats screen is another confusing mess. It's nice to have all these stats, but to see them I have to scroll down a huge list to the bottom in order to see the stats that matter to me the most, generally - such as health etc. And the stats list starts not fully scrolled into view. That's so weird. There's a lot of empty space that can be filled up - and is - when one scrolls down.

So not only is the screen realestate wasted in general, for huge empty spaces, but it's wasted even where it is technically used. That takes a special kind of UI design.

I genuinely like this game, but the UI and m&k controls are a huge, huge letdown. The game is diminished by them and there's no reason to. These are easy fixes, they are not something that affects gameplay or core mechanics. This is low hanging fruit, dear DA:I developers.

Please, make every effort to pick the low hanging fruits for the PC users, and I'll wager you'll be praised and appreciated far more than the effort that you need to put into such changes. Clean and focus the UI for PCs and allow full customization for keybindings and mousebuttons.

It's the best thing you can do to show love for the platform.

The list starts in the middle because for controllers the selection cursor is fixed at the centre of the list. As with any list box, the first item is automatically selected. (and therefore is in the middle) On controllers, you scroll the list, not the cursor. On the M&KB UI, you can click the cursor to be on another item besides the middle, but as soon as you do anything (scroll, delete an item) it snaps back to the middle.  All the issues you note about the UI is because the UI is designed for controller use.

But hey, made for PC by PC gamers right?

I have to admit, I love it too. Every time Anders did the whole bolshy broHAYA in DA2, it was so damned sexy I'd turn the camera (but then, I could, because autoattack). I kind of still do that for Dorian, even if it means I stop attacking for a second. Only with my warrior boy, of course. No one else would get distracted by that.

This thread needs moderation...

If Bioware has gotten of their lazy A-S-S in the first place, and did the game correctly from the very start and gave us what they promised, then this whole thread would have never happend.

But Bioware are to stupid and they dont know what they are doing. This place should just burn to the ground and new and more experienced people should step in and re-create this whoe game.

This game will never be fixed while Bioware is in control. And the fact that bioware started this thread but dont reply to us is also another point to see that bioware are just a bunch of idiots getting paid for sitting on their A-S-S and not doing anything at all aslong as they can take our money

One gripe to add to the many! Trying to explore and that f***ing sonar goes off! It's like the phone ringing when you are trying to get some data from a book. You have to find it! It turns out to be a bloody bottle! Bottles have priority over any quest you are doing, right! Right!!

And companion AI, don't even mention it! OMG what were they thinking. Get in a confined space and it's like 'dancing with zombies'.

So this is really sad. I came here after few weeks, looking forward to see some mouse+KB control / UI improvements..

I stopped playing game because my brain just can't accept game's controls, tactical camera is far beyond useless and while I have an X360 controller @ home, I refuse to play games with it. I will never play Dragon Age as an action game.

It's sad how developer's laziness is able to destroy the game for those wanting to play tactical with PC  controls.

Buying this game was a mistake but who expected that, both DA1/DA2 were perfectly playable with KB+M. :(

DA2 had mods!!! I had a DW/Archery Rogue with Blood Magic! All Dal's mods. Lingerie at home.

A storage chest, multiple page talents, AND TACTICS that worked. I could use WASD or mouse to  move.

Then we get this! Give me a break, Bioware!

I am... :(
In the eyes of every bioware fan/defendist here, I am that kind of guy who just wants something from the past and won't accept that "new" and "awezAAAm" path bioware took.

After 300 hours I am used to the controls but doesn't mean they are practical or efficient. They need to be fixed and the reasons why are stated aplenty earlier.

Love the game but the controls are a distraction.

Obviously, I have not been able to check, but did this not change in the first patch? Or am I confusing it with something else that was added?

That whole bar stays on the screen even when the health bars disappear?

That is correct. You have the choice between hiding UI, Contextual UI or Always On UI. With Contextual, your companion health bars and icons are hidden and only triggered by battle, banter, levelup, or low health.

The Abilities bar is ALWAYS there....except for cut scenes.

Stupid, huh.

*snip* But Bioware are to stupid and they dont know what they are doing.  *snip*

It seems so, but are they?  Or is it simply that the business has changed (e.g. year after year PC gamers like me become a smaller portion of the market) and Bioware are simply reacting to the demand (e.g. consolification); thus they no longer make the sort of games I want to buy and play.  The bottom line: is DA:I selling well and continuing to sell well?

EA Says: ''Hello everyone,

We're working on a fix for the key drop issue in multiplayer that should resolve the vast majority of these instances. This fix will be included as part of a larger upcoming patch for Dragon Age: Inquisition.

We'll provide more details at a later date, and appreciate your patience.''

http://answers.ea.co...ue/td-p/4214473

So we will wait another 2-3 weeks I guess.. The longest patching ever,,,

No. And this is where it gets really stupid - it only permanently hides your companion icons and health bars along the top left of the screen.

If you've ever seen a half-arsed UI control system, this is it!
