I'm no programmer, but i think the easiest and most appreciated PC UI change/optimization you can possibly make is to add 2 more ability slots (1 for each number on the keyboard).

There are too many abilities and not enough slots to use them. This was a "feature" on both previous Dragon Age games.

Hey look Sister, I go running straight to Alt-cntl-delete once I know that this game is locking up on me.  I like to call it a preemptive crash.  It's amazing to me that THIS P.O.S. game took four years to develop.  It's mind-boggling HOW bad it is.  One day, in the future (obviously) people will tell of how badly this game was programmed.  Inefficient code.  Bad design, ill conceived concepts.  This game has it all though, if you're not looking for a straight character to romance, go have two choices.  It's really such a limiting piece of crap game.  I'd still play it, even with all of it's thousands of faults, IF I could play ot with a M+KB.

@mkygod -  You're being sarcastic.or real, but sadly this game is the same sorry mess that it is...errr in. Just two days left before I stop giving the (Colin Quinn) proverbial care.  Booware won't care if they lose me...but I'll raise some hell in the process.

I'm sure it would be an easy fix, but the eight ability limit was a design decision (ostensibly to "balance the combat" or "make it more tactical" or something). It's an idiotic, gameplay/story segregated design, presumably implemented to cater to the new action-RPG gameplay direction, but it's not a bug.

I'm hoping this won't seem like "overcomplaining".  I'm sure people have heard enough of it.  And by EAWare's lack of communication, they just stopped giving a shite (to quote Sera).

I want to love Dragon Age: Inquisition.  Really, I do.  But the game has just become unbearable to play.  I have literally tried everything.  Literally.  Before I even go any further, I will post my computer specs here.

Alienware 18 (laptop)

Processor: Intel i7-4700MQ CPU@2.40 GHz (8CPU's) ~2.4GHz

Memory: 8192MB RAM

Video:  NVidia GeForce GTX 765M (x2 - SLI capable.  Not running SLI right now)

Approx Total VRAM: 4038MB

Driver: 347.09 WHQL

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I have tried EVERY fix.  Every one.  I tried the 30 FPS Lock Fix.  But it literally does the opposite of what it should do.  It's like everything moves is slow motion.  My character, Cutscenes, combat.

I've tried the "user.cfg" trick.  Nothing changes.

I have VSync off.  I cap out at like 20 FPS.

I run everything on High.  It ran alright for a while then crapped out.

THe cutscenes now look like shite.

I have no way of turning off Hyperthreading on my laptop.  I know what to look for but it isn't on my computer at the setup menu.

Hell, I can run ME3 on Ultra with SLI fully engaged and not have one single issue.  Hell I can run Skyrim with EnB setup at near max with no issues.

And now I've run out of options.  And it bugs the living crap out of me because I love the Dragon Age Franchise.  So now I have to table the game because EA decides to screw us PC'ers for consoles?  And please, don't try to correct me saying it Bioware.  Bioware is just a name on the box.  It died the day EA bought it.

Man, those new Bioware guys really suck at their job. Even Ubisoft can pop out useful patches several times a month and they outsource their coding to a monkey zoo...

More likely because there's only 4 action buttons on a gamepad and they barely managed to keep one more as a modifier, hence only 8 ability slots...

How new IS the team?

Mark Darrah was lead programmer on BG2, not a bad thing to have on your CV since BG2 was one of the best pc games ever made B)

Both Aaryn Flynn and Mike Laidlaw also worked on BG2 if I'm not mistaking ;)

The current situation has just proven it irrelevant.

I had hoped James Ohlen would also work on Inquisition, but he's doing the new IP for Bioware (correct me if I'm wrong).

Had also hoped to see Brent Knowles return, obviously (since he was pro party control and tactics) ;)

David Gaider (who's also active on these forums) also worked on Baldur's Gate 2, so with him, Laidlaw, Darrah and Flynn, Inquisition is still made by some of the veterans :)

I'm just curious if the console port was delivered by a veteran team, or a team full of interns and graduates.

If the former, then it's just Bioware's console favoritism all over again. If it's the latter, this is actually more excusable.

All right this is it. The game is unplayable and the dev team has clearly abandoned it. Bugs everywhere and some of them doesnt stop even after reloading the game to progress further. There has been no patch for over a month and game's current tech state is more like early beta, not final version of the game.

Also multiplayer is filled with bugs, includign bug that doesnt drop key and map cannot be finished.

I'm done with low quality games. uninstalled (too bad the game was purchased retail).

A "design decision" yeah right next time you load up DAI and the control scheme is set to controller take a long hard look at the radial menu( the 1 that contains ride horse, drink potion, attack my target etc) and the 2 stage ability diamond on the right of the screen, now imagine those 2 HUD Elements converted into a single horizontal bar.Now keeping that thought in mind switch the control method to M/KB reload the game and take a look at the interface looks familiar right?.

The whole "more tactical","design decision", balance to combat" is nothing more than a big fat load of "blue sky thinking".straight out lying hogwash. The only reason us PC Gamers are stuck with that 8 ability limit is because the consoles with their gamepad only input are limited to 8 ability's because that all they can manage to map to the XB/PS controllers while still having all the other features mapped to a button of combo of buttons. They were just to lazy and lacking in spine and integrity to give us a real UI/Interface designed for PC.

My warrior had no taunt abilities - out of room. To taunt I had to go to the character screen, put the taunt skill on my hotbar, use it, then go back to the character screen and put it back to its previous ability. Errr, how is that tactical? It's unneeded frustration and just another sympton of this console port.

This issue is easily solved by adding a multi-stage hotbar similar to Neverwinter Nights and Divinity Original Sin.

Running skyrim with 500 mods and maximun setting with heaviest ENB is so infinitely more light than Inquisition that I couldn't even explain it to you.

Seriously.

Just be humble, Inquisition is HEAVY. Witcher 3 will probably be even heavier.

Just be happy and play it on the lowest settings possible.

ME3 on ultra is light as a feather compared to Inquisition (which would be a planet made of lead in the comparison)

Actually I run Skyrim with 500 mods with max settings + RealVision ENB + forced MSAA and the frame rates can slow down alot in certain areas. It's expected with ENB. Since the latest drivers my FPS dropped even lower - will have to rollback once I'm done with DAI.

Running Inquisition with the same card with medium to ultra settings provides smoother frame rates. My card is 1GB

There is no reason for a 4GB card to run slower than mine. This is either a driver or game issue.

The problem its that the extra weight its due to shity coding...

That's probably why there are eight quickslots (as in the number), but not really why the other abilities aren't accessible in a non-quickslot format (as they were in Origins). It's not inherently a controller limitation.

The problem is that adding in more available abilities would make the combat less action-y: more pausing, less awesome button. Can't have that, no sir.

I think it just would be less console port-y. This "choose wisely" concept makes the game seem more tactical and hides the fact that they just wanted the whole thing to at least run on PC with minimum work. Bs.

Pay-offs work wonders for judges.

And I wouldn't call the game useless.  Just extremely half assed in the coding department.
