@mkygod -  You're being sarcastic.or real, but sadly this game is the same sorry mess that it is...errr in. Just two days left before I stop giving the (Colin Quinn) proverbial care.  Booware won't care if they lose me...but I'll raise some hell in the process.

Sir, since you seem to be on fire tonight, let me add some fuel, by quoting myself, after the first night or so of playing DAI:

'

No seriously, stop defending this game, at least on PC.  You like it, fine.  Negativity is depressing, fine. But, please, stop.

I have had no major tech problems but every other part of my gaming experience felt like a sad joke.  Tried to love the game for 12 hours.  It's not playable with a mouse/keyboard. PeriodWhich would have been fine if the consumers hadn't been told the exact inverse thing. I mean there is a lot of fine-looking games I don't buy because it's obvious that they have been especially designed for a controller, most recent example of this being Shadow of Mordor. Fine, I won't buy them because I don't like playing with a controller. Just don't communicate to the contrary.

Timing your counters and attacks is crucial to having a modicum of fun battling the generically-designed-plot-unrelated-endlessly-re-spawning-dumb-as-hell mobs in DAI. And it's not just not effing possible with the current interface.

Looting and crafting?  Crafting is such an essential part of the game that they had to make it like teen seconds for looting every piece of crap, right? Time-sink, pure and simple.  And talk about immersion : I got the promotional item flames- something bettered by the first crafted weapon, before I even had a chance to test it.

Quests. Haven't seem then yet. Fedex and kill x tasks are not deserving of the name in a single-player game.

Art direction is very, very peculiar and controversial by nature.  Green and green everywhere.  Yes, we get it it's the new brand-color in this game. Does this mean that everything has to look the same in the whole Hinterlands?

Everybody (and your avatar is forced to look like that) is dressed as a hipster with funny looking slim-pants and mustaches. And everybody loves hipsters, right? Who, as popular wisdom have it, were prominent in medieval-ages. I mean, how hard could it be to produce elastane with rudimentary knowledge of chemistry, and weave it into the epitome of practicality that is the default outfit with a mechanical loom, right? Human male are about as big as your average fashion journalist and males elves look right on the verge of malnutrition. Quite funny if it wasn't so pathetic. Details do matter in a work of fiction. It's called creating an atmosphere.

I could rant and rant like so many others on the defaults of this game, but it's pointless.  Miscommunication and misleading statements on the part of EAware regarding this game and especially the PC gaming experience is verging on a commercial scam in my -not so profane- opinion.

Happy gaming to everyone who likes the game. Happy refunding for the others. EA people are nice, they seem to have had a lot of practice lately.'

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Running skyrim with 500 mods and maximun setting with heaviest ENB is so infinitely more light than Inquisition that I couldn't even explain it to you.

Seriously.

Just be humble, Inquisition is HEAVY. Witcher 3 will probably be even heavier.

Witcher 3 actually have lighter system req than AC Unity ( yes they announced sys req few days ago) which even with poor technical aspect I was able to run on I5 2500k, 8GB RAM and GTX780 on Ultra, game was not dropping below 43 FPS and since I have G sync monitor It feels like 60FPS actually so I am not worried about Witcher 3, they also do not have EA above their head so they can polish the game properly and I think they are doing It right now since release date is delayed.

That's probably why there are eight quickslots (as in the number), but not really why the other abilities aren't accessible in a non-quickslot format (as they were in Origins). It's not inherently a controller limitation.

The problem is that adding in more available abilities would make the combat less action-y: more pausing, less awesome button. Can't have that, no sir.

Nah, it's mainly because the game is a 100% console port, nothing more, nothing less.

I run Inquisition on ultra/high on my PC very  smoothly (mantle) but on notebook gpu's I think it is asking too much...

The lead coders haven't got to that part of the tutorial yet. Be patient!!

I decided to take a few days off the forum, hoping that when I check back in I'd be pleasantly surprised with news, news of any kind. though, this doesn't seem to be the case.

I don't like the idea of using a third party cheat engine just to make my character walk. thanks, but no thanks...

replying to whoever was asking how I could play through DA:I 4 times while getting dx crashes, I need to clarify. my first playthrough was more or less fine, till i tried to walk through a mirror, consistent dx crash there, fixed by underclocking my gpu. then about not quite 25% through my second pt, started suffering nearly constant dx crashes, not even running with everything on low quality fixed it. then started running in maximized windowed mode, seemed to fix the issue... I've played the rest of the second pt like that, followed by 2 more playthroughs. luckily I'm not stuck on low quality either, that would have driven me a bit batty... or, rather a bit more batty.

I really hope patch 3 fixes the copious amount of bugs, adds proper tilt control for tactical camera, and hopefully adds some much needed multiplayer enhancements. There's no reason why we shouldn't be able to craft any weapon or any accessory for a bunch of rare mats if we have those mats. The current mp design is lame in regards to this and could be so much better.

Anyone seen Solas's quest the guy that is walking towards you when you get there.  He looks like a head bobbing guy you put on your car dash or something his head was so big I thought they put that in as a joke or something if not is it completely horrible.  Has anyone seen that yet?  Oh.. when is patch 3 coming please someone from Bioware has to reply one day right?

OK, so I've been playing the game +200 hours on PC now and here are my concerns. First, it's very stable for me and I've had no game breaking bugs.

1. Option to make the HUD elements smaller. The compass etc. could be much smaller, which would make for a more immersive game.

2. The same for the inventory etc. Smaller text and icons, optimised for PC.

3. Better camera in tactical mode. More zoom, better pan etc.

4. Not just a PC issue I guess, but with my play style the hold function is pretty much useless as the companions spawn after the player if she/he advances "too far" from them. Basically, the spawn distance should be lengthened when characters are on hold IMO.

That's about it, except for several small bugs that are well known, which I won't list here. I had an annoying glitch with the end boss fight, which isn't mentioned that often.

Just be happy and play it on the lowest settings possible.

ME3 on ultra is light as a feather compared to Inquisition (which would be a planet made of lead in the comparison)

My pc concerns:

  1. No walk toggle/butten - There are large amounts of game where running looks horrendously out of place.
  2. Automatically-run-to-loot when you click on it is now only in tactical camera instead of also available in third person.
  3. Auto-attack (true auto attack, where you click the target and your character moves to/attacks on their own) is only available in tactical, not third person.
  4. V for search is only available in third person not tactical.
  5. You can't name your saves like in previous games, so I can no longer put 'Before big battle with (b)" or "After convo with ©" etc. This makes it much harder to know when to load and what not to save over or delete for space.

You are correct. In order to patch a problem, they have to put out a patch. With the exception of Darrow telling us about his playing of Hearthfire and lots of announcements about GOTY awards, pretty much anyone involved with DAI on the developer end has been incommunicado since patch 2 went live on 12/09/14.

Actually, they will NOT do their jobs if they have to keep coming here to hold children's hands just to say "aw don't cry, we are working on it" Then the crying children will yell "I don't care, you suck, I want it now" :P

It is not a bakery with bread coming out every hour or so, It is a huge system, if you want to change something in a point you have to make damn sure that it will not brake anything else, if it does brake anything else the Dev. team has also to figure it out why it happened and how to fix it. This kind of stuff takes a lot of time but I guess I am wasting my time with computer illiterate people...oh... wait... :P ... just inconsiderate children right?

Everybody has a right to question and say that something is not ok, but just bitchin about it does not help and it is something a child does.

For those talking W3 or Skyrim (joking right? :P ) just chill out and go play them, this way everyone will be happy.

WOW. I fixed it. Well, my stuttering problem at least.

I've been sifting information on and off again for a while, and I came across this gem last night: disable pagefiling in Windows 7 to see a performance gain in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Prior to patch2, I put in 250 hours with no issues. Then patch2 hit and while I managed a few workarounds, all too soon I was hit with slow-motion micro-stutters in anything I did to the point I couldn't move and combat was awful. Even the war table stuttered.

Turning off page-filing fixed this for me. What page-filing does is give you virtual memory on your HDD. It is generally suggested to turn this off on an SSD to increase its lifespan.

Simple method: hit Start --> right click My Computer and select Properties --> left radial menu, select Advanced System Settings --> under Advanced settings, select Settings under the Performance tab --> again select the Advanced tab and click the Change button (for virtual memory) --> on any system controlled drive, select it then move the dot to no page file and click Set. (Note: keeping pagefiling on any drive negates the fix. It must be turned off completely.)

Doing that will require a reboot and poof, you're (hopefully) golden. Hope this helps others!

I went back and had a look at previous DA games' UI's because there is something I just don't like about DAI's...and what I discovered is that suddenly the game is designed for toddlers with overblown icons and a UI that looks way too busy! The abilities bar in particular - just look at all the wasted space and unnecessary rubbish filling up the screen. The designers who came up with this clearly did not bother even looking at what the previous games look like. Seems more like they ran with a quick layout drawn on a cocktail napkin. Bioware.....REALLY???!

From this...(functional and non-intrusive)

b96f6216f77c046997c0d7717505e897.jpg

To this...(still fine and in my opinion, the least intrusive)

To whatever the hell this is....(very much INTRUSIVE)

Bioware "devs", you taking notes on this? Your UI for your brand new game is bloody awful! You got it right twice, why mess it up on the third?

You are right. This game is nothing like Skyrim or Witcher. This is an improved version of Guild Wars 2 in offline mode. except dragon fights are a lot cooler there because there is no 1 player limit in the zones there. I am 100% sure i will get response from someone who did not complete story mode in GW2 yet tries to prove me wrong :D.

Oh, did i not add any intelligent feedback again? Nvm, because developers dont look for it here anyway. B)

And more smiley cause it makes me seem like a cool guy :D.

Dubya75 - that DAO  was pretty perfect wasn't it?

Is it too much to hope that they will reduce the size for the PC in the next patch?
