Was that f***ing hard to wait with release few more months and tweak some things BioWare?? LIke:

1. PC controls

2. In-game appearance change (simple mirrior in Skyhold???!!!!!)

3. Fix abilities bugs

4. Finish Qunari Race

5. Give us more armor and color diversity.

Done. Few more moths of work? Yes.

But you had to release it unfinished, right? Well- gtfo

The shortcomings of the tactical mode comes into full view once you start tackling dragons. It's not too bad to deal out potions to the party members but using skills in the mode is an exercise in futility.  Having your spellcasters and ranged attackers not move away from front of a dragon is extremely detrimental.  :)  Yes, you can move them manually away but they go right back once you go back out of tac mode.

Fast forward to 2015

And here we are again. To be fair, I don't remember if it was Half-Life that made me rage, but I do remember raging over lack of joystick support in shooters. My point is this - keyboard-and-mouse support doesn't define a PC game any more than joystick support did back in the 90's. If your goal is to let off steam and carry on raging, be my guest - my guess is that this applies to most of you in this thread. If, however, you've wandered in here by accident, and you genuinely want to enjoy a worthy Game of the Year, try it with a controller. It won't make you any less of a PC gamer, any more than my own switch from joystick to keyboard/mouse made me an accountant.

I think you are missing the point. It being that they never said players would need a gamepad to properly control the game. On the contrary, they promised over and over again it would work very well with mouse and keyboard and went on to say how important the pc gaming community was to them. After these many statements by leading BioWare staff members, you can't blame anyone for only expecting what they were promised repeatedly.

Now if they would have said you need a gamepad to play this game instead, it would be another story, but they haven't.

Its hard work. Engine is so unmodable even the developers dont know what to do with it. And sales are better if it is freaking game of the year everywhere. Compete with witcher 3 next year? **** that.

Ah, this thread gives a veteran PC gamer like me deja vu

Rewinds to cirka 1998

What do you mean Half-Life doesn't support joystick control? They want me to use my keyboard to control a shooter? What am I, an accountant? A writer?

The keyboard doesn't even support analog movement, for chrissakes. And if I wanted to use a mouse, I'd play a strategy game. How can you claim to be a PC-game with no joystick control? Game Of The Year? Are you sh***ing me? Half-Life is a completely unplayable mess, made "by accountants for accountants" - worst game of the century.

The first problem is that a joystick, like a controller, is an optional PC component. A keyboard and a mouse are not. Unless the game explicitly indicates that some other controller or control scheme is required, the game should have an interface designed around KB&M. DA:I doesn't.

The second problem is that Bioware went out of their way to declare that DA:I was a game "by PC gamers, for PC gamers". I'll grant that the claim is true in the most literal sense, but it fails to meet the standards that I assign to the phrase. This is extremely misleading at best (I'm being charitable here), and I refuse to let that stand uncontested. It's the principle of the thing.

As an unrelated side note, joysticks suck for shooters. They probably did you a favor.

I am starting to realize that the main problem with the PC version is that it introduces us to the game using the arcade combat system, which is basically hack and slash. As soon as I enter tactical cam, much more information is displayed, like who is attacking who, the buffs and debuffs of all members and enemies, hold position works good, etc, etc.

If Bioware fixes the controls of tactical cam to be more friendly, and fix the horrible camera angles, I would suggest then that tactical cam should be the default when entering combat for the PC version.

For me, making tac cam usable means I can play this game finally...

My new favourite "let's kick you out of the middle of a fight with a dragon/rift/darkspawn/venatori/outaws" glitch is the brand-new (to me, anyway):

"You have lost connection to your session".

I play offline and only single player.

Why, pray tell, would I 'lose connection to my session'?

'Ead-scratcher, dis one, wot?

i don't mind it not being a default. i really do love the idea of it, i just want it fixed, work properly, not being so damn annoying. even with cheat engine zoom out override it's still painful in tree areas, and ofc it still collides with objects and i think i broke my wheel button on camera movement

Is there any word on when the PC fixes (specially the controls) are due?

I'm patiently still waiting to get this. :)

The engine part is biggest issue with me. It is FPS engine, not RPG.

Why Elder Scrolls, First 2 DA and other RPGs have scuch longevity? Becasue they are easy to mod!

Yet they focused more on lighting, realisting rain (!!!), dust on my shoes after 10 sec of walking on snow (!!!!), waterfalls and movnig leafs on trees than on: support for modders, customization, in-game features, skill bugs, controls, mechanics, camera, banters, CC options and better designs of in-game armors...

And to that they added MMO-like farming and grindning for RNG mats (Good that we PC players have Cheat Engine or I would never play this game if I'd have to farm or deal with RNG) and bad, ugly, cheap and laughtable MP.

Well, last time I bought your game. I was so stupid. Lesseon learned, Good that I warned my fellow friends in time not to buy it before too late. At leat you didn't get their money....

DA2 isn't that easy to mod. Certainly not to the degree Origins was.

Mods are for empty games like skyrim ; Dragon Age is written better, has better story and is a great big game which doesn't need mods to be interesting unlike others

And that was where I quit trying to play with my dual wielding inquisitor. Nightmare, friendly fire on, and no frigging tactics? Yuck. I quit.

I'm playing SWKOTOR now. Seriously.

Hah! Same here.

I related previously how I liked "Origins" so much that I bought copies for each of my brothers ... who play on console.

They loved it.

I also related to them the complaints I had, and was reading about, concerning "Inquisition".

Turns out I needn't have bothered ... after "2" they had no intention of ever playing another Dragon Age game.

I was the only one of us BiowEAre suckered into buying it.

Mods can do way more than simply add quests. Bug fixes, UI improvements, graphics improvements, control improvements, gameplay overhauls, etc. - basically whatever the devs didn't end up fixing themselves.

What about the silly and definitely-not-working tactical camera.. ? Some of us don't want this game to be spoiled by action approach.

I went back and had a look at previous DA games' UI's because there is something I just don't like about DAI's...and what I discovered is that suddenly the game is designed for toddlers with overblown icons and a UI that looks way too busy! The abilities bar in particular - just look at all the wasted space and unnecessary rubbish filling up the screen. The designers who came up with this clearly did not bother even looking at what the previous games look like. Seems more like they ran with a quick layout drawn on a cocktail napkin. Bioware.....REALLY???!

From this...(functional and non-intrusive)

b96f6216f77c046997c0d7717505e897.jpg

To this...(still fine and in my opinion, the least intrusive)

3006775ff5faf4d96f829f145d8747fe.jpg

To whatever the hell this is....(very much INTRUSIVE)

c6adb5ab8d024443c1c007c5ca1b0127.jpg

Bioware "devs", you taking notes on this? Your UI for your brand new game is bloody awful! You got it right twice, why mess it up on the third?

+1 QFT

I'm not saying you don't have legitimate grievances - my point was only that if you're looking for a way to enjoy the game, I recommend trying it with a controller. If, however, you think your time is better spent in here, telling Bioware for the 385674th time that kb+m is horrible, then by all means...

Here's a related side note: KB/mouse sucks for DA:I. I'm trying to do you a favor.
